Long overdue review because honestly I'm afraid more people will find out about this place and make it more difficult to secure a reservation. We came here for lunch after hearing many stellar reviews and def were impressed. Clean, intimate space. Chef Fumio was funny and so sweet. The nigiri were sooooo delicious and well prepared. You can tell that chef took pride in preparing the meal and cared about the quality. We already planned for our next reservation :)

LOVE the uni hand rolls here, it's a must get nonnegotiable every time. Chef also does a superstar dry aged bluefin tuna and ootoro that is delicious (We had the 17 day dry aged, literally still dreaming about it right now). Honestly, it's a breath of fresh air to a familiar concept. It's very similar to the classic traditional omakase style where you have ultra fresh fish and sushi made with the highest levels of detail and quality EXCEPT you *also* get more control and flexibility with the menu depending on what items you want to order in addition to the suggested menu. The vibe here is way more friendly/chill and easy going compared to the typical formal omakase. Perfect for a night out with exceptional food, fantastic hospitality from Chef & his wife (and his son!), and lots of laughter. I'm already planning to try their lunch recommendation here next lol Parking is street parking, usually find them around the corner!

Best Omakase experience I've ever had! The fish was exceptional, and Chef Fumio was a true artist!

The quality of the fish, and the Chef's Omakase presentation was top drawer! It's a small 7 seat bar, and 2 small tables for 2. Must make reservations on Tock. Ambiance is clean and simple, in order to focus on the stars of the show, Chef Fumio and his fish artistry!

Fumi-san is my favorite sushi chef in Los Angeles. The quality of his ingredients is always top-notch, and his rice is truly exceptional (even better than what I've had in Japan) Not only does he make amazing food, but he also has a great sense of humor that makes his guests feel truly entertained. I'm so happy that he recently opened his own restaurant.

There are many sushi chefs in Los Angeles. You may find excellent omakase service in this city. Osusume Fumio is the rare, earnest experience of watching someone strive to attain--and maintain--perfection. To me, that was getting a *perfect* pie from Dominic DeMarco, himself, at DiFara Pizza in Brooklyn for the 5th time in a row. I have experienced it again: watching Fumio balance his love of art, quality, detail, and consistency at the highest level he can... for you. Fumio is a warm, charming host, but he is also driven to deliver the pinnacle of his craft. His marriage of ingredients and technique is exquisite, yet his approach is relaxed. He is not a try-hard; working to show off how avant garde or expensive his dishes can be. He is a craftsman, a perfectionist, and a careful artisan. Like a watchmaker who uses gemstones (not for their precious appearance, but simply to ensure the movement is as perfectly smooth as possible), Fumio uses the ingredients which best support your experience. He's not putting gold foil on your wagyu, or caviar and truffle on your otoro. He doesn't gild lilies. He humbly ensures you experience the best sushi he can make. Instead of trying to create a formality, he simply invites you to spend time at his small counter. Enjoy his hospitality, warmth, and deep regard for the quality of your meal. I cannot think of a finer place for dinner.

So, so, so delicious! We came here for lunch to celebrate our anniversary and everything about it was spectacular. Fumio was hilarious and friendly which made the experience even more special and Shin's sakes were delicious. I especially loved the ume & yuzu sake. Can't wait to go back! Make reservations online!

One of the best sushi spots I've had a in a while actually. We didn't really do any appetizers and went straight in for the fish. Started off with a couple of hand rolls, we did the crab hand roll and O toro hand roll. Crab hand roll wasn't as impressive, I've had better to be honest. I didn't let that experience ruin it for me because the toro hand roll was delicious. I think they add a piece of mint and it complimented the hand roll. Very crunchy nori wrapper and good rice to fish ratio. For our sushi we started with chu toro tuna, salmon belly, and halibut. Super fresh melt in your mouth quality. Halibut was interesting with the truffle, first time definitely won't be the last. We ended it with red snapper and black snapper. Absolutely amazing, I think the black snapper or the red snapper was slightly charred. It was so good. To say the least, this restaurant was worth it!

Nice of the chef to switch out roe for halibut for me on my omakase. However, probably the worst omakase I've ever had. No creativity, nothing felt premium, chewy fish, flavors didn't mesh, and half of it was salty. The miso soup wasn't scorching, which i appreciated at first but that meant the last few sips were fairly room temp. The real crab handroll was good. If the price point was $35 sushi set I'd give 5/5 but this is supposed to be premium omakase. I've been to other Sushi Enya locations and had good experiences, so this was very disappointing. Stick to the rolls and nigiri.

Long story short, our dining experience felt rushed. We waited about 45 min- an hour for a table. Once we were seated, we were pushed to order right away. I had come here before but it was my husband's first time dining. He needed more time to decide and look over the menu. Well he didn't get much of a chance to look at what he wanted to eat because the server was standing there waiting. Literally staring. What would you like to order? I explained to her that it was his first time here and he needed time to look over the menu and asked her if she can come back later. She proceeded to say it will take longer to get our orders in and delay the kitchen staff. That didn't end there. Right after our food was served, one of the servers came by to ask if everything was ok and if we needed anything. We said no. Shortly after, the server dropped the bill at our desk. Mind you, we were not even close to finishing our meal. I understand there are other customers waiting for a table but you shouldn't be rushing the customers currently eating. They clearly prioritize turning tables faster to make profit. It was not a pleasant or enjoyable dining experience. I would choose another sushi spot.

It was definitely not what I've expected or ever experienced in a Japanese restaurant. We were quickly greeted by the staff and be seated by the wall. The upholstery of our seats were torn. The area where we were sitting was a bit too dark and could definitely add more lights for customers to see their menus. After giving a look at the menu, our server asked if we were ready. I said it's our first time so we need some time to look through the menu. She replied ok and left. We mainly ordered sushi items. Servers brought over each item one at a time. When I almost finished mine, my family is still waiting for theirs. You do see the staff walk by the tables constantly. However, I would hope the servers would ask how is everything and if we need anything else. Overall, sushi tastes fine. I probably won't be back given the experience that we had.

While the fish quality here is great, you will get more bites that seem a lot more experimental with flavors and garnishes. I didn't like every single bite but I expected that. A lot more focus on creative cocktails and drink pairings instead of just sake or wine. This is a great place to try Japanese whiskey, they even have little lockers where regular patrons can store their expensive bottles they've bought for when they return, and you are welcome to grab an additional drink and chill in the space afterwards if you'd like. The chefs here were a lot more personable and fun with more of a bar vibe than a traditional omakase. Service was great, dedicated bartender was great, and though it's not the best sushi I've ever tasted, I would still bring someone back here for a unique experience. Brought my friend here for her bday and we left full and happy and a little drunk so I'd say it was a successful night!

For those who have been to Daiwa Sushi, this reminds me of it so much! I stopped by Monday around 1:15 and the place was still packed.
