A great ramen spot in the University Circle area! I came here for a quick lunch. I got the char siu ramen ($15.50). It came piping hot with plenty of noodles, a decently sized portion of char siu, and lots of kikurage mushrooms and corn. The noodles had a nice chew, the char siu was tender, and the tonkotsu broth was rich and flavorful. I slurped up every bit of that soup. The restaurant itself is very no-frills. It looks like it's mostly a takeout place, but they do have a few tables for dine-in customers. Most of the seating consisted of high chairs (not my fave as a vertically challenged person). I will have to come back here in the autumn or winter - I bet the hot ramen will hit the spot even more in cold weather. read more

Honestly, it's a little bit embarrassing how many times I've been to Otani noodle. Sometimes, I'm just craving some Asian food, and if I'm in the area, Otani noodle really hit the spot. While they are known for their ramen, might go to is actually the pork katsu don. There is just some thing so perfect about the way they scramble the eggs with the pork cutlet. It's so delicious, and always hits the spot. I have also gotten the curry katsu don, which was also delicious. The ramen is definitely excellent as well. I personally have enjoyed the tonkatsu ramen and the cha shao (char siu) ramen, both of which are great on a cold windy day. I first started coming here about two years ago, when they were only doing carry out. I will often get my food to go, and order at the counter, and every time I've ordered, they are extremely prompt with getting my food ready. I don't think I've ever had to wait longer than 15 minutes for my food, which I really appreciate. I will definitely be returning to Ohtani noodle, and will try to try more of the menu! read more

Incredible food and even better management and staff!! We came in on a trip to the natural history museum as a quick stop, and we were treated better than any sit down restaurant in the country. After a late night at work I needed something quick for takeout, and Otani Noodle hit the spot! My food was ready within 15 minutes of ordering which was great. I got the chicken curry katsu don and a side of their shoyu broth. The chicken curry was crispy and had a good blend of meat and veggies and sauce. The shoyu broth was delicious! UPDATED REVIEW!! My last review (below) was in January 2018. I'm updating my review now (in February 2020). I recently came back here on 3 February 2020 for a late lunch / early dinner. I ordered the Torikatsu noodle soup (chicken) which is $11.45. The chicken was fried and so crispy. The base, soup, was hot and delicious. The noodles are light but will still leave you feeling satisfied. The whole dish was just very flavourful. I enjoyed the mixture of vegetables in the dish especially the broccoli. The price is definitely good for such a big bowl of noodle soup. My friend Gabby ordered the beef curry udon ($12.75) and she loved her soup. I recommend Otani Noodle for lunch and dinner. read more

I liked this place so much I came here twice! The first time I had the Ramen with the Pork Belly and the second time I had the Korean Short Rib over rice. Both were excellent. I also had a new item on the menu, the Gyoza pan fried pork dumpling. Also excellent! My dining partner had the spicy Ramen with pork and she also thought it was great. This is not a fancy place but the food is authentic and delicious. The prices were reasonable and the service was very good. Otani Noodle gave me everything I could ask for and more on a chilly December night. I was freezing and wanted something warm for dinner - soup! So, I bundled up and walked down to Otani, not even considering what the 10 degree weather might do to my pour ramen on the walk back (context: I was in a hotel with no in room microwave, a tragedy). I ordered the classic Tonkatsu and other than being yummy and a very large portion, the HIGHEST PRAISE I can give Otani and their ramen is that the soup was still BOILING LAVA HOT by the time I got home! The staff seems really nice and friendly, and they've got a lot of seating for such a small space. I appreciate the fact they didn't put my tempura shrimp in the soup and make it all soggy. So I got to bite into nice crisp shrimp. The broth was delicious all on its own, but I like mine spicy so I added the chili paste they provided. So good! I highly recommend the ramen here. The ramen is extra spicy if you enjoy spiciness, and plenty of seating is available inside. You walk up to the counter and order, and then seat yourself. Otani has a casual ambiance since it's located near Case Western's school of dental medicine. I had their spicy Jigoku ramen, and boy was it hot. I got a generous portion of ramen, and Otani did not skimp on giving me meat. It would be best to bring your own water to Otani because Cleveland law seems to be that if a purchase is less than five dollars, then your charge will be increased if you use a credit card. Pretty good ramen place in Cleveland! I'm big on ramen as it's a BIG thing in Houston so this place does their own twist of ramen on their menu. I came here several times with different friends and each time I've enjoyed the food overall. The restaurant is kind of small so if it's crowded, there really aren't too many seats. The place has high bar seats and it's first come first serve on those seats so if you're going with a group larger than 4, better save those seats! Honestly the space isn't great for larger groups because of how the tables are assembled in the actual restaurant. Their menu has a decent variety of ramen options so if someone has an allergy or dietary restriction, there is something for them! I like to order their only spicy ramen. Portion size is big so I never can finish it but overall is delicious. I think my only complaint is that when customers leave their left over bowls and it's not cleaned up immediately, it looks messy and plus not all the time is the tables wiped completely off or the sauce containers which are usually sticky. Just the little things but it still becomes a slight bother when someone has to touch the sauces to use for dumplings like the soy sauce or the chili oil container. This place is definitely good for cold and rainy days to enjoy a hot bowl of ramen. I'd recommend it for people who are into ramen to come try this place out! read more

You know there isn't that many ramen places to choose from so there isn't much of a competition. When you first come in, you get s feel of authentic vibes. They have high tops with stools to sit on. You can possibly fit 4-6 people comfortably at each table. The workers all stand behind their work station, getting ready for anyone and everyone! The prices are averagely priced for a ramen and you get a nice portion for it. If you have some trouble deciding on what you would like, check out the pictures they provide on the wall! They have one screen on there dedicated to showing pictures and a glimpse of the menu. The hubby, my friend, and I ordered the spicy ramen. The spicy ramen wasn't really that spicy in my opinion, but they have chili oil at each table to add to your ramen. The broth was pretty bland. The noodles were cooked to perfection. And the belly pork was so tender and juicy!!! I was very very pleased with the pork and would probably come back to try a different ramen with the belly pork! I was in the Uptown area and wanted to grab some lunch before heading out of the area. It was cold out and a bowl of noodles and hot soup sounded like a great idea! Otani is a small place but big enough for grabbing a quick meal before heading to class or to the art museums nearby. Easily one of the best places in the city for ramen, but my personal favorite is their katsudon (rice) bowls! Don't let the plastic containers and silverware fool you, the soups and rice bowls are all incredible! The service is very friendly and quick. I also highly recommend the Chinese chicken wings. The bulgogi is also good, but I'd stick to the Japanese-based meals and order bulgogi at a Korean place instead. The restaurant itself is a little small, but it gives the place a cozy feel (although it can get chilly if you're seated near the door in winter).
