Workers are completely unprofessional, disrespectful and inappropriate. You would think the workers being in full uniform and in company cars/trucks, they would act professionally in a public place. My family and I were trying to have lunch in a restaurant and about 6 of your workers were across from us having a conversation, excessively using profanity. We were not the only family near by either. We politely got up and asked them if they could please keep it down and instead of apologizing they got defensive and responded with "Oh we can't be loud anymore." Yes sir, you may be as loud as you want, that's not the issue. The issue is the constant swearing in front of children, in a family restaurant! And maybe try to represent your company a bit better. Even one of your fellow co-workers seemed very embarrassed on they way you guys were acting. They ended up leaving and bad mouthing/cussing as they headed out the door. I wouldn't give these criminals one star. We bought a lift from this company , they told us before we purchased it we had a thirty day guarantee we could return it if there was a problem. We purchased the equipment they agreed to deliver it from San Diego to Nevada. It took two weeks to get the equipment delivered. They asked if we had a dock to unload The equipment when it arrived. We did. After we received the lift we tried to load it on our trailer, it wouldn't load because of the clearance. They didn't tell us we needed a special trailer to move it. We called Oscar he referred us to Rick, we wanted to return it and trade for a different lift. One we could load on our trailer. Rick told us to put a winch on our trailer that would assist in loading it. We told him it was the clearance we were sold the wrong equipment for our needs. We called and called these losers gave us the run around. We are now stuck with equipment that's worthless to us. EVENTUALLY HE SENT US A PICTURE OF A $30k TRAILER . He said that would solve the problem This tool told us we didn't do our due diligence before we purchased the equipment it was our fault that it doesn't work for us. We thought we were working with honest experts that would treat us right. Like business customers instead they treated us like fools. We probably deserved it because we trusted them. we are going to publish this review on every platform we can to let people know to BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY We have talked to these nimwits everyday. I purchased a forklift from them and paid to have it shipped from San Diego to Oregon. I was not there when it was delivered but the next morning I attempted to start it and battery was dead. Charged battery and found side shift was not working. I reported the problem and waited about a week for service. The technician found that the hoses for the side shift were not even installed. He did a quick diagnosis of the electrical system and said it had issues but was not authorized to fix it. Multiple attempts to have it serviced have not lead to any success having it fixed. It has been 29 days since my first contact and my 30 day warranty runs out tomorrow. Not happy. It is sitting unused. read more

I have never done business with this company, but today I thought I had to write this review regarding their drivers. Horrible and inconsiderate! As I was driving home with my three year old I had to merge into lane and the ONLY lane which take me onto the 94 freeway going east. Behind me was a white Toyota truck refusing to let me merge even though I patiently signal. I somehow force my way into the lane not wanting to miss the exit and have to make an entire detour just to get back onto the freeway. I was not speeding nor being reckless. I heard a honk and as I looked to my rear-view mirror I saw the driver flicking me off with his middle finger! Wow how hard is it to just slow down a bit and let someone pass! Does that make you really angry as a driver? if so you shouldn't be driving! And if you're going to be an asshole driver, make sure you're not driving around with a logo that tells everyone where u work. read more

Their drivers are terrible. On the 805 onramp during rush hour. Driver swerved into my car, eventually forcing me off the road. He stops his car and opens the door and starts shouting obscenities at me. Reported to Department of Transportation with the photos to prove it. (All photos taken by passenger sitting on passenger side of car). DOT # 1637601 California license number 4MJ9083 This incident happened on the 805 on ramp. My car was in the carpool lane and it was heavy traffic. Like all cars, I was trying to merge onto the highway. To my right was this truck with the above identification number. Despite the fact that I was next to him and was in the inside lane with the right of way, this truck continually pushed ahead. He kept going for a good 500 yards after the two lanes already merged, very clearly driving into my lane. At several points he swerved into my lane to try to cut me off. At one point, he blocked my path with his truck, forcing me off the road, then he opened the door and started yelling obscenities at me. He also threatened to physically harm me. At that point I did not feel safe so I backed off and took pictures of his identification numbers so I could report him. I called the office to report this incident but was not told anything concrete. Unsafe drivers like this should not be on the road. read more

Like several other people that have reviewed this company we bought a 5500lb hyster forklift. It was supposed to be Like New. All the pictures of it looked great, we made the deal and had them deliver it. Right away we noticed the radiator was leaking, called got pushed into someone's voicemail, left a message, no callback. Several calls later they sent there "driver" out to try and fix it. In the meantime(about a week) we started having transmission issues. It was an automatic. Wouldn't change gears, wouldn't supply power to the wheels. At that point we upset, obviously. We call in and tell them the issue and there response is, well it's used so tough break. What they do is buy piles of junk, paint them and sell them as like new. Don't let looks fool you underneath there equipment is junk. DONT BUY ANY EQUIPMENT FROM OTAY MESA, YOU WILL GET SCREWED. read more

This company is a sham! I purchased a lift and when it was delivered a week late and it was not in working order. It took 2 more weeks to finally get this lift working and the customer service was absolutely the worst I've ever experienced. Since I paid cash they ignored all my calls and emails. I told Rick the General manager that I needed the lift for a specific date in order for us to move warehouses or else I needed to purchase from another company. He said it would be delivered on time. THAT WAS A LIE! He never delivered and has been avoiding my calls since. NEVER buy from this company! We recently received a "refurbished lift from them": the battery won't hold a charge, the hoses were all bad, and the lift was only ready for the scrap yard. The owner won't return and phone calls or emails and the warranty is a joke. BUYER BEWARE they ripped us off! Very unprofessional! I had scheduled a 65' articulated boom lift for a weekend job. I had been communicating with the company via the phone for two weeks prior to the rental date. The Friday before the job I drove down to fill out paperwork and was asked by a lady at the front counter if I had the insurance paperwork for them. What insurance paperwork? The lady proceeded to explain in order to delerver the machine I would need to purchase, from an outside company, a million dollar insurance policy with Otay Sales as the beneficiary! Nice to hear this the day before the job. I told them to pound sand. This should have been communicated during my first inquiry about the rental and associated costs. I was able to get a lift delivered the next day by using another rental company. I have used this company in the past and always had a good experience; however, the policy change regarding their insurance requirements and the lack of providing that important info has caused me to take my business elsewhere. read more

Otay Mesa Sales used to be OK company but now they ship you junk and when you call them for service it is pain to get them out and once they show up they applying bandage and it comes off quickly -then they claim warranty is over and you would be stuck with a junk! I needed a new (used) forlift for my store. I had bought one from them about 10 years ago and it is dying a slow death and needed to be replaced. I walked through saw all they had. 2 fit my needs. Agreed upon a price for one of them and put down a $1000 deposit. Signed a contract and everything. They were going to get it serviced and ready for delivery in a week or so. They never called back. 3 weeks went by finally I called. Sorry no forklift for you here's your $1000 back. I am sure they sold it out from under me. What a crappy way to do business. Just bought a used forklift from Otay Mesa Sales for our brewing company (Aztec). Visited a couple of times first to check things out, worked with Rick. He found us a fairly new (2007) Yale forklift with limited hours on it. It was delivered yesterday. Ran a little rough, but the repair guy was out first thing this morning, fixed everything. This company has changed from an honest one to dishonest. I have bought from them two times before, the last transaction was done 2012. We ordered electric order pickers this time, and was told ready to ship. After calling for almost two weeks for exact shipping date but did not get answer. I gave up. My mgr called herself, and was told that the units were sold to some other cash buyers from mexico, and they are no longer available. I wish I never wasted my time with them since I can get comparable priced items but a lot better service which I did today. I have made numerous calls and emails to ANYONE in the company and have not had a single response in ages. Initially i wanted the LEMON returned but now i would just settle for the battery I'm owed (per warranty) so I can be done with this horrid company. I don't have time to be dealing with this kind of thing, however, because of the piss-poor treatment i have had, i am making it a point so that other people won't get ripped-off. BUYER BEWARE!!! CAUTION! these guys are SCAMMERS. USE A CREDIT CARD SO YOU CAN DISPUTE THE CHARGES. What a joke, if you want broken, leaking equipment then buy here. No one will call you back they will shuffle you around and avoid your calls and emails the minute they get there scamming hands on your funds. These guys invoiced me on 2 forklifts $10,000 and then delivered a GAS old military issued unit with fresh paint on it and a second lift that didn't even start. I was supposed to get propane lifts. The other lift they dropped didn't even start and the GAS lift leaked hydraulic and anti freeze fluid all over the warehouse. They sent a technician who said the repairs needed were so bad they had to take both lifts back to the shop to repair. Why would they even send such crap out?? They returned 3 weeks later with our "repaired lifts" they barely started and were leaking all over the place, that's when they stopped responding to our calls, voicemails and emails. A few days later our warehouse worker had a under capacity load on the lift and the forklift snapped the bridal in two dropping the load and nearly killing another worker. Had a forklift delivered in Oct. 2016 and when we checked it out it looked like it had been used in the ocean. It had so much rust on it that you could tap on the metal and rust just fell off and it also had a fresh paint job that was applied right over the rust. We did pay with our credit card and tried to work with them on returning it for a refund but got nowhere will Rick. We ended up getting the credit card company involved so Rick decided to take it back for a full refund. This was the WORST experience we have had with a company in recent years as far as being provided the product they presented to us and the product we received. Horrible customer service! The forklift was 'pretty", recently painted. Had a massive hydraulic leak in the left side mast hydraulic cylinder seal, no hydraulic lines to the side shift ram (we had to purchase & install), valve cover leak, hydraulic leak on the bottom, etc. etc. Putting your purchase on your credit card doesn't help if you have signed the paperwork that says AS IS, even though they presented a completely different machine than promised verbally. The unit was a month late. Their response was non-existent. Never do business with this company. THEY ARE EQUIPMENT PAINTERS ONLY!!! read more

We are a small export company, and work primarily in the Middle East. Otay Mesa sold us a large Ingersoll Rand 1300 portable air compressor for an overseas construction client. The compressor was very reasonably priced, and in beautiful condition....In fact, it turned out to be even better than we had hoped for. Rick helped us every step of the way, answering my calls and emails, and assisting us through every step of the process. When it came time for the compressor to be loaded for export, Rick oversaw the loading process, and Otay Mesa staff handled everything beautifully. This was a very large compressor (over 17,000 lbs), and not at all easy to load. Their experience and professionalism ensured that the loading went smoothly, and the compressor arrived in the Middle East in the same beautiful condition as when it left San Diego.Our overseas client could not be more pleased with their new equipment! I recently purchased a Baker Forklift (Stacker) from the Sales manager, Rick. Although it was sold 'as is" I wanted to return it or trade it in at a loss within 2 weeks of having purchased it. I have a physical dissability and found it too difficult for me to operate.I used it for less than 5 minutes. Dealing with Rick turned out to be a painful and frustrating experience as he would not budge on taking it back - even at trading it in at a loss for a different forklift. When I tried to start the forklift after it had been standing for a week it would not start. After numerous calls (documented) I could not talk to him as he was"always" with a customer. After 2 weeks of leaving him numerous mesages they eventually sent a technician to repair the problem. The customer service from Rick, the sales manager was one of the worst business experiences I have had in over 40 years of business. The worst thing about it was that I was warned not to do business with Otay Mesa Sales but they had what I though I needed. Customer service and care does not exist! read more
