I used to go to the other locations of Other Mothers, but since they have closed, I drive further away to this Surprise location. It's a large store and there is always plenty to look through. Because of the store's popularity you can have them go through one bag of trade in clothing etc., at a time and if you get there early enough they can usually look through it that day. Depending on how busy they are they may take an hour or so, but that is fine with me because I can always find clothes to try on. They offer cash for your items or trade in value and of course trade in value is always higher. I've always found the employees to be helpful and courteous. You definitely don't make as much on your clothes as you would if you sold on Ebay or other sites, but this is less hassle for me and my teenage daughter and I like to make an afternoon out of it and enjoy "thrifting"! read more

I miss the other mothers that was by the I 17. I was so excited to move closer to this location. I love shopping here and I get the best deals for my kids. I also have found some really great pieces for myself. However, they are sexist about what men bring in versus what women bring in. Whenever my husband tries to bring in an item, he is rejected. I can bring in the same items and they take the clothing and toys for credit. He just brought in a changing station attachment for a standard dresser and was immediately rejected. I had to go into inquire and the lady who I spoke to could not keep her story straight about why it was rejected. She finally landed on it needed a whole dresser not just the attachment. But there was no dresser that came with it, it's a $90 dresser topper changing station with wall anchors. Just tell me it won't sell. You don't have to make up excuses. When my husband called the store to inquire about selling hours, he referred to the store as consignment. Yes, we know it's not a true consignment store, but the lady who he spoke to very rudely interrupted to correct him. "It's not a consignment store it's a trade store." Maam, we know, we just want to know your hours. It is always hit or miss with their customer service. I am at the point where the good is no longer making up for the bad. Also, please clean your store my hands are always visibly dirty after shopping. read more

My husband attempted to drop off a bag of clothes, and he was sent away ultimately being told our drop off have to be placed in two separate 13 gallon bags. Okay, inconvenient and seemingly unnecessary, but we did that. Upon returning a little later with our two separate bags, we were told it would be three days before we would receive store credit, despite others bringing in bags and having their name called that day as we shopped. At checkout I presented a coupon I had found on an Other Mothers website. The cashier, Pam, informed me it was too old, and when I stated there was no expiration date on it, she retreived her manager. Upon speaking to management, we were told a different story about it not even being from the same store. Again, inconvenient, and despite snide comments and huffing from the cashier for holding up her line, we made it work. Because I love this store and consistently shop here for our 18 month old and 7 month old, my husband didn't say anything at the time, but later informed me that he overheard staff having inappropriate conversation about him and criticizing our drop off. He said he felt it was personal that we were pushed out three days for store credit from our drop off. He also said there were eye rolls and scoffing from staff throughout the entirety of our shopping trip there. My husband returned the following day to see the progress made on our drop off, and, again, spoke with management in private regarding the issues we encountered the day prior. The manager was anything but helpful and didn't seem to care about anything he had to say with no whims about our inconveniences or disrespectful staff. Upon suggesting that we would find an alternate store to shop at, she was quick to dismiss him, before giving him our (still untouched) drop-off, and sent him on his way with nothing but excuses. I don't know if it was an off day, or an off couple of days, but damn near everyone we encountered left a bitter taste in our mouths. Fortunately, we were informed of another store, Once Upon a Child, that we are beyond eager to visit. We will never be shopping at Other Mothers again, nor recommending it to anyone we know. read more

I am very disappointed with my last visit, feel I got screwed. I brought in a very full bag and they took a Michael Kors purse, 3 no name purses nwt, a few wallets nwt, 4 forever 21 bathing suits nwt, a couple shirts and denim shorts nwt, 8 dress shoes nwt, 50 rings, 32 earings, 10 necklaces nwt, 4 necklace giftsets nwt and i got $40 credit or $20 cash after waiting for 2 1/2 hours. I love the service, as the ladies that work there are friendly and helpful. I also think they have great prices. I just haven't found many items in the last year there. I will also NEVER bring items to them for cash. TERRIBLE!! As many have said, they brought brand new, with tags, nice items and received practically nothing for them. The same thing happened to me. I had trendy new items with tags and only got $26 in store credit for everything. Just donate stuff to St. Vincent de Paul or Goodwill and feel better about yourself. I've driven by it so many times and couldn't even figure out what it was until my trusted yelp showed this location when looking for a consignment place Customer service was great. Not a ton of people and the selections are great! Prices are great. As my third babe, I really can't see myself spending so much money on a tiny person who will change sizes in 1 week. Charged me $2.99 for 4 bloomers when the sign clearly stated $1.00 for 4. When I said they overcharged me, the cashier said that bloomers have always been 4 for $2.99 and asked the manager and she said they were. So I went over to where the items were and the manager told me I was wrong even though I pointed straight to the sign. Then, the manager told me what I purchased wasn't bloomers even though the cashier rang them up as so. When I asked her to show me bloomers, she showed me a pair of tights and toddler underwear...she had no idea what bloomers were and was 100% incorrect. She had no intention on making it right and she said I couldn't return them. This isn't about the money...it is about the manager not owning the mistake. I won't be going there again. read more

Love that the store is HUGE. My first time at this location.. I was overwhelmed with excitement of how much they have there. Unfortunately I left with one pair of baby bloomers... I'm not sure why second hand stuff has to be sooooo outdated and ugly. I don't think I saw a single thing that wasn't tacky, pink, and just plain goofy for the baby girls. They get to choose what they take in... and the stuff they pick is just awful. They should maybe choose things that are more popular these days other than 90's looking stuff. Definitely a place for buying. Not the place to go if you want to sell. Took w bags of women's clothing & shoes. Some items brand new. Didn't accept everything, asked if I wanted my rejects back. Asked where they donate to if I didn't take them back. LOL, donated to their 50 cent sale on Saturday. Well, I declined taking back the items. The corker is I only got $1.58 cash. Cash is always 1/2 of store credit. Won't take anything there again. For what they gave me, will jus take to Goodwill. At least they help the community & have a good reputation as an employer. We were SO impressed with this store. We purchased over 100 baby items for less than $60. Cheaper than other consignment stores and much better selections! Will 100% be back as we prepare for new baby! The only "problem" we ran into is that you couldn't tell who worked there - I ended up asking this lady a bunch of questions about items (who was so nice with her responses) only to find out after she didn't work there LOL! I had a couple people ask me questions too - in which I had to tell them I didn't work there. It provided a lot of comedy overall, but a name tag or lanyard would be nice in the future! read more

I've been going to all 3 Phoenix locations for years and have always been happy with the quality and prices. They can't be beat on those points. What I have always hated is the disregard they show for the clothes you so carefully wash and fold to bring in for them to purchase what ever they want. The clothing they return to you are called "no's". They nos are tossed back into your bag in a jumbled mess. They are wrinkled, sometimes dirty from being tossed on the floor and in general not suitable to take into another store. You have to re wash, iron, and fold the "no's" all over again and I find that straight up rude What got me last time was the condition my Jessica Simpson beige heels were returned to me. They were spotless going in and I was shocked that they did not purchase them. That is till I pulled them from the bag today and found both shoes with scuff marks down both sides and the bottoms were dirty like they were worn. Worse yet a gouge was made in one of the heels with the patent leather peeled back and missing. They look like an employee either traded their f...ed up pair for mine or borrowed mine and had a hell of a weekend. I hope the culprit reads this, not that they care, obviously they don't. You think you got away with something but it will catch up to you in the way of karma. read more

Don't waste your time selling women's clothing or accessories. I brought in two bags full of clothes and Jewelry. They kept a few pairs of jeans, a few sweaters, several shirts, 2 very expensive jackets, and over 40 Chico's brand jewelry pieces and only gave me $10. They also don't give you the option of rejecting their deal and getting your stuff back. It's either take their deal or don't take their deal and they keep your stuff anyway. I wish I would've seen a post like this before I decided to go to them. Please consider this before selling women's clothes and accessories! You've been warned! read more

I went in recently for the first time. I bought various baby clothes and thought the deals were amazing. I was able to get 15 baby outfits and a large bouncy ball for my son for a total of 16$. The store was a little bit on the messy side but it is a thrift store so it was not bad. I was very pleased with the quality of items, the quantity, as well as the prices! I just dropped off some items to sell but was told it would take a few days for them to get back to me. So I am not yet sure how selling with them is, but I will buy again! read more

After visiting the Other Mothers at 29th and Bell, I decided to make the trek out to this location. It was well worth the trip! This store is much larger, newer so cleaner, and better organized than the other two. They have a good selection (Nine West heels for $4.99, yes please!!) and their staff is very friendly. Overall, it was a really good experience! Even though it's a bit of a drive, I will definitely go back. Now a lot of people have been harping about the trade rates not being great. It's tough, because you know what YOU payed for all your stuff and it almost feels like an insult when consignment stores offer you such a meager amount, but keep in mind, they have a business to keep afloat. They can't pay you high rates AND stay open for your shopping pleasure. They take the stuff they know they can price reasonably and turn around and sell. That's why your Jack and Jill, BabyGap, and other higher end items might not be taken. Best to try Craigslist or swip swap for those pieces that they don't take but you don't want to donate. read more

This location is AMAZING!!! I am so happy for Other Mothers for getting the opportunity to expand into a much larger and more shoppable store! My first impression of walking in here was WOW! They have a lot of merchandise to choose from. I have three children, one younger and two teens, and I can say that this is an ALL around family store! One thing I really enjoy is that they play Christian music. I've sold things multiple times to Other Mothers and never once had a problem. There are new faces on the staff, but it is always a refreshing experience. I usually stop by in the early afternoons, and I am always greeted with a smile. The tall girl that works in the credit room is always so friendly and helpful. She is very detailed and explains everything if it is your first time bringing things in. If you don't like the amount offered, they let you take your items back, or you can sell them for a store credit or cash value. I believe that their pricing is fair based upon the prices they sell their items for. You won't be able to find such amazing deals anywhere else!!! I do think that some people become upset with the amount that Other Mothers offers due to the items that they bring in. Other Mothers DOESN'T accept everything, I've personally been given items back that I thought they would accept, but this is the nature of the business!! I've witnessed people overreact on the girls that work there which is ridiculous because they are just following the policies that keep this store in business! ROCK ON GIRLS! Overall, the customer service is excellent. The ladies are willing to help with any concerns or questions you have, and even mark some items down from their already low prices! I am completely shocked that there are not more great reviews about this new, bigger location because it is absolutely wonderful. read more

I used to really love this place when I lived out in Surprise. It used to be a place where you could get a good deal both selling or buying clothes. I live in Phx now and wasted a 30 minute trip out there today. I had 1.5 bags of clothes but they would not look at more than 1 bag. They would not budge on this for a half bag. Another lady was there with 2 bags and had the same issue and she just decided to donate it rather than waste her time there. Wish I had done that now. They told me it would take half hour to evaluate my 1 bag and it took close to an hour. Many of the clothes in the bag were brand new with tags or barely worn but they accepted only about 1/3 of the items. While I waited I shopped for my kids current sizes and didn't find much because everything was so disorganized I couldn't tell where anything was. There was no rhyme or reason to the order. For example I was shopping for size 3T and assumed it would be right after 2T and before 4T. There were all kinds of sizes there, but not 3T. I finally gave up because it was too hard to shop when I can't find the sizes I was looking for. So essentially I drove half an hour to get there for them to only evaluate 1 bag (they told me I'd have to come back again tomorrow for the other half bag), they didn't take much and I only got $16 cash, and I couldn't find anything to try to use it for in-store credit. It's gone downhill since I moved and I won't be wasting my time coming out here in the future. I wouldn't recommend others waste their time either. read more

They have a new policy where if they can't price your items at $9.99 or higher, you won't be handed any cash, just store credit (booo). This place is a rip off. I Brought good items in. Even a snap n go stroller that I purchased at this location. A lot of the clothes I brought in still had tags on them. I called to see the out come of the items I had brought in and the person I spoke with told me I had a certain amount of cash coming back. When I got there I got my claim check got in line and the person handed me only half of what I was told over the phone. To know that they will be marking the items up and making such a huge profit on these items is upsetting. This place will never get my business. I took my items back. read more

I reluctantly visited this store. I was accustomed to their tiny location at I-17 and Bell Road in Phoenix. I am so happy that I stopped by! This place is HUGE. You won't make a mint if selling here, but the GREAT news is that if you are a frugal shopper, like me, you will be thrilled with this location! Prices cannot be beat here on clothing, accessories, toys, books and movies here. We purchased a plethora of DVD's for $1.99 each. I could spend a solid hour or two here l loading up the cart. Although they do not pay a lot of cash for your merchandise, you can get a store credit. This location is well worth the visit and a store credit for cool new gear! read more
