Jessie was very helpful I'm providing professional, prompt excellent customer service. He did everything possible to schedule me that same day but the part that I needed was not available until the next. I called back and spoke to Robert he was equally as professional and made an appointment with Isreal that same day. I would like to add their quotes are more than reasonable. Isreal showed up on time as stated even with rush hour traffic. He spent a significant amount of time diagnosing/explaining my issues and once I gave the okay.. started to fix the problems. He is a perfectionist and extremely thorough not to mention neat. Nobody would have guessed mechanics were anywhere bear ny home as every oil stain was cleaned. Had them come out to repair my cv axle on my truck. The mechanic didn't seem to know what he was doing, 14 hours later he finally left. The axle wasn't fixed and was making crazy noises. I used Otobots on two separate occasions (my mechanics were Samuel Jones, Sr. and Gabriel Page) and I was more than happy with the service they provided. Both gentlemen were excellent communicators- they contacted me regarding any and everything-prices/quotes, actual service to be done, arrival times, etc. They both inspected the car for any possible future issues which I appreciated immensely. Both gentlemen came to my home and fixed my car in my driveway (in the cold, no less!) while I watched television with my daughter in the warmth of my home. Both gentlemen were very fast and efficient and very pleasant. Samuel even fixed my car, in the cold, at night, after I got off of work on New Year's Eve! How awesome was that?! I like the fact that you can get a quote on the services you are requesting before the work is actually done. I also like the fact that the mechanics do NOT perform any work without getting authorization from the vehicle owner first. First let me say in the world of auto mechanics. It is nearly impossible to find honest, good natured and speedy techs that are polite and professional. Well i found that very auto tech in Todd with Otobots this tech drove over 35 miles To diagnose my vehicle when it stopped at my home. he came in the evening when every shop closes and worked on my vehicle, not only found the problem but got it running and fixed the issue the next morning at my job. He is my go to tech from now on. Really sorry to say I am very disappointed with the inspection I received on the car I purchased a couple months ago. I needed something to carry me through winter, but it seems so many critical fixes were missed from the inspection that I'm forced to pay for on my extremely limited budget. I learned last week that Three of the tires are "road hazards" as they are leaking air from road rash and bubbles. How can not one, but three tires needing replacement not be seen!? Furthermore, all 4 brake pads and rotors were in horrible shape, yet no indication of that in the inspection. Missed a leaking coolant radiator hose even though I myself noticed that not too long after owning. You can even smell something burning. Now I'm stuck with a money hole that I can't afford. read more

I tried to replace the battery on my 2009 Prius. I broke a screw in half that was connecting my batteries ground wire to the car. I was very frustrated and looked for mobile mechanics in the Chicago area, the first place I called said a minimum of $200, in a very lazy "I don't care about you kind of way". Then I came across Otobots. They calmed me down and made me feel like everything was going to be ok. They sent a very nice guy whose name was William. He was very efficient, professional and a really nice guy. He assessed the problem with my screw and came up with a plan. There was a screw that was right next to the one I had broken, but the ground would not fit because the screw was too big. William went above and beyond and went back to his shop to drill a bigger hole in my ground wire connection, which had me nervous because a lot of car mechanics will take their time to get more money. He was back in 20 minutes and did not try to overcharge me. I would use Otobots again they are very trustworthy. read more

This Company is misleading. I worked for this company for a few months and they use my picture as advertisement, and I haven't worked for this company going on two years and they're still using my picture for advertisement as a mechanic. I have asked the owners of this company multiple times to remove me from their website and they refused to do so. If they're using me to advertise that I'm one of their mechanics I wonder how many more of the mechanics on the website aren't really working for them. read more

I had a great experience with Otobots. Alonzo was my mechanic and he went above and beyond. I required a rear brake job on my SUV, once completed I noticed a metallic sound when applying the brakes. Consulted with otobots and they sent Alonzo to diagnose. It was believed to be the shims. Alonzo returned that same week with new, upgraded pads and installed them at no charge. read more

Tried to get a part replaced in my car. Lousy customer service. When I try to "chat live with an agent now" who is "online", nobody responded. On top of this, they will not email you the parts that they will install in my car -they just want to talk - no written emails on the details of the parts. I was out of state and wanted to purchase a vehicle. I asked for Otobots to go and do a prepurchase inspection. They gave me a few things that were wrong with it. One of the things written was "Exhaust Broken and loud." I called the guy that did the inspection and the office to find out more about this issue. The guy I spoke with in the office had no idea and the mechanic never called me back. Well, that little thing wound up costing me $1200!!! I also asked specifically about rust and was assured they would look. The under part of the vehicle is covered in rust and the back door lock is rusted and in operable. Neither of which was marked on the Inspection sheet. I really had hopes about this company but was majorly let down. I would rather buy blind than give them $100 to then be blindsided! read more

After reading all the 5 star reviews, I decided to try Otobots to try to avoid taking too much time off during a work day to take my car to an auto shop and dealing with the inconveniences or waiting or dropping off/picking up. My experience with Otobots ended up being the most inconvenient, frustrating one of all. Very unprofessional staff and poor customer service. Below are the events that took place - 1. I scheduled an appointment online a few days ahead. 2. Day of, I get a missed call from the company in the morning. Call them back, and Jennifer (the company "scheduler") assumes it was the mechanic confirming my appt. She calls me back a few minutes later to say it was and that I'm all set. 3. Shortly before my appointment time, I get a call saying mechanic is running an hour late since he himself is having car trouble. By now, I've already at home ahead of my appointment time but figured I could wait an hour. No big deal. 4. I then get a text from mechanic saying his ETA is now 2.5 hours later than the rescheduled time since he's still waiting for a part to fix his car. By this point, I've already taken off a few hours on a weekday to get this "quick convenient fix" instead of taking my car to a shop to avoid this exact problem. 5. I call Jennifer to see if anyone else can make it earlier - she says no but she puts me on hold while she texts the mechanic to confirm the exact time so that I can be assured it doesn't keep getting pushed (and wait around forever). After minutes of silence as she says "he's responding", I ask her to call me back as soon as he responds. We also get in a debate about her offering me a "discount" for the inconvenience (which was only mentioned once I asked if there was any) which ended up essentially being the same as my first time user discount that they offer to everyone. FYI- Apparently the quote you receive online is the "diagnostic fee" and does not cover any of the actual repair or part costs. They should make that clear on their site. 6. Another hour passes and I don't hear from her. I call back and another guy picks up saying that Jennifer left for the day. At this point, no one can reach the mechanic and he's no longer responding to texts or picking up calls. It's about 30 minutes before his ETA time that he gave me. I decide to give him the benefit of the doubt and wait to see if he shows up despite his ghosting. 7. His ETA comes and passes, and he doesn't show up. By now, I'm frustrated as I just blew through half a day waiting around for a mechanic who never showed up and dealing with a company that seemed to be not so apologetic about the inconvenience (other than, "sorry, we don't have any other mechanics available" and telling me to just wait and hope they can get a hold of their mechanic). 8. Peter, the manager, was nice enough to call me back and apologize once I expressed my frustration. But by now, I just had such a bad taste in my mouth that I did not want to try to reschedule for another time. I immediately called another car shop and took the car there in 15 minutes - was done within an hour. Lesson learned. read more

I read all the great reviews before opting for service from Otobots, but I didn't had a great experience with them. I called for the brake service, check engine lights and over heating. In the quote they mentioned check engine and brake service and put the Over heating in the Note section. I called the service advisor about this and asked about it and they said as long as it is mentioned in the note mechanic will diagnose the issue and it is covered under the quote. Next day mechanic arrived one hour late, but that's OK. Poor guy has to drive 70 miles. Mechanic was a nice person and he did the brake job (one of the brake pad was incorrect size in the box, he ended up running back to O'Rielly to get the correct one) and checked the engine. I mentioned him about the over heating and he said that he didn't see anything about that in his notes and he has to charge one hour extra for this. I called the service advisor again and explained about this and she said some one will call back and talk to me. The guy who called me said the same thing that they have to charge extra for diagnosing the over heating. This looks like there is lack of knowledge with the service advisors and how they communicate with the mechanics. Mechanic told me that my car has several codes and several things needs to be get replaced. I was wondering myself, why would I spend $65 just to get the check engine lights codes, while I can get that done free from Autozone and others in 2 minutes. Whole idea of spending money was to have the over heating issue diagnosed apart from check engine lights, which they were not willing to do unless I pay them extra. read more

Rates are less than regular repair shops. But the repair guys does not have all the tools. Don't blame them since they cannot carry 10,000 tools like a repair shop can store at their place. But based on the repair request and vehicle model, they should know what tools to carry and if they don't have it, get it or borrow. One thing I don't like is... if they cannot loosen a nut, then we can hear several 4-letter words spewing out. I absolutely don't like that. Couldn't be happier with this service, the cost and the mechanic that fixed my car. Though Chuy was 15 minutes late, it only took him a little longer to diagnose why my Altima wasn't starting and fix the problem. Apparently I had flooded the engine cranking it too long trying to make it start on a dying battery. Chuy suspected that and was able to keep the fuel pump from from adding more gas until the engine started. It runs perfect now and the only cost was the $75 diagnostic fee. Would recommend Chuy. The service they provide is fast and affordable but buyer beware. They only warranty their parts for 1yr 12,000 miles. Had a starter replaced 10/22/2017 and went out on 12/18/2018 and my car has only about 6500miles since time of service. I would definitely think twice about using this service obviously they aren't using quality parts. read more

Our car battery died and we needed someone to come to our house to replace it since it wouldn't start. I found otobots online and they gave us the cheapest price around as well as a quality long lasting battery. They didn't try to overcharge us for a cheap battery, they charged us for the exact amount it cost for them to buy it. I loved that we could make the appointment online and they were on time!
