I think I found my new sushi spot! We ordered their Miso Soup, Spider Roll, Lion King Roll, Spicy Tuna Hand Roll and their Mochi! All SO delicious. Staff was so nice and helpful. Great locations and bathroom was so clean. Had such a good experience! Can't WAIT to come back for more.

So many great things to say about this sushi restaurant! My favorite in all of the Bay Area hands down !! Very small restaurant but some of the freshest unique sushi rolls I have ever had ! Lots of parking very calm location. Definitely whenever I'm in the mood for sushi this is my go to spot !

The sushi was very fresh, the tempura batter was super light. Absolutely always enjoy their food. They forgot to have my sister's ramen broth spicy but they fixed it when asked. Orher than that, the service was fast and the restaurant is cozy.

I usually don't do review, then I realized only my treasure box has one fill with wasabi and ginger? Just because I am speaking the same language as he does? I feel ashamed! Thank god I took a picture! First time I go there with my colleague, never be back!

Good place to have japanese cuisine. This place is good for dining with friends or families. There are plenty options on the menu. There is also many choices of sushi roll option. The owner is also the sushi chef and very friendly. We have been visiting couple times and love the food and the company. The sashimi is fresh and the cut is good size. I also like the shrimp tempura. That is one of my favorite. The spicy tuna roll is yummy . The beef teriyaki is tender and the sauce is good. Overall it was satisying and we got home happy.

Contrary to the restaurant rating, my experience was pretty decent. Will this be your life changing go-to number #1 sushi spot? Probably not. Will you be able to conveniently satisfy your sushi craving? Yes. We came in as a large group around 12 PM. I enjoyed the complimentary warm tea they gave us to start off. The lunch bento boxes are popular and satisfying. For a mid-sized group, the party platters are a good option too. The party-platter comes with standard rolls (shrimp tempura, tuna, california etc.) and the small is good for ~4 people. They also have a lot of vegetarian options and a lot of rolls to choose from in general. Fish is fresh. Efficient and kind service and overall a good pick especially for a casual work lunch.

I highly recommend if you are in the Redwood Shores/Redwood City/San Carlos/San Mateo area(s) and looking for Sushi, come here! I prefer to support local family owned businesses and both Victor and his wife Queenie create a wonderful customer friendly experience in addition to providing excellent Sushi. Highlight the Kumamoto Oysters (fresh) and the Redwood Shores roll, Ahh Mazing! In addition, the entire staff are absolutely wonderful. You won't go wrong.

Sushi and appetizers are solid. My go-to place when I want something easy, close with little or no wait. The service is TOPS. Our waiter (his name is Stone) is phenomenal. Always smiling, remembers our orders from the previous visit, quick to respond to any requests. LOVE eating there when he is there. This is out go-to place. Never had a bad experience here!

    Lobster Roll so good!!
    Tiffany M.

My first try here! Super fresh fishes abound, argh!!! I'm definitely a sushi pirate! Loved everything I ordered and very impressed. The Lobster Roll is beautifully presented with a lovely lobster shell placed with the roll for a grand presentation. Each bite of the roll has a nice chunk of lobster up top. I might have found my new go to for sushi craves! The Dragon Rainbow Roll I loved; nice version of traditional Rainbow Roll. Different raw fish up top the bite sized roll cuts, including my personal fav, yellowtail, with real crab on the inside for additional cost, is awesome and sooooo good. Creamy and sweet sauces drizzled over the roll is perfect accompaniment. Lastly, the Mackerel Sashimi I haven't tried before I found to be pretty tasty but a little too vinegary and salty for me, that's just me folks. It was beautifully presented with lemon slices and radish curls. I will definitely return, so close here in the hood. Give them a try, ample parking in the Redwood Shores Shopping Center.

Bento Box & Redwood Shores Roll
    Kristen L.

Came with a coworker during lunch. It wasn't too crowded, and we opted to sit at a table outside. We each ordered a bento box ($12.99) and the Redwood Shores roll ($14.95) to share. The bento box comes with shrimp and vegetable tempura, California roll, salad, rice, and miso soup and I chose the tonkatsu as my entree. The Redwood Shores roll has unagi and avocado, and is topped with crab meat, raw tuna, and avocado. The food is just okay. The tonkatsu had a good crisp but was a little tough and the tempura was heavily battered and oily, which made it hard to finish. Both the Redwood Shores roll and the California roll had a disproportionate amount of mayo to the rest of the ingredients, so that was the prevailing flavor with each bite, which I didn't really enjoy. Despite the underwhelming food, the servers were nice and delivered our food quickly. 3 stars is probably too generous in terms of the food, but the good service was appreciated.

Sometimes, it can get busy and server might take a while with getting our check back but I totally understand. Having 1-2 server out in a packed restaurant can be tough. Crispy rice with spicy tuna was great. I really enjoyed my tonkotsu ramen. The broth was super rich and you can tell it's well made for hours+. Many of the pieces were also badly burned, and they were put right on top of the rice. The burnt pieces gave the entire rice a strong ash-like, burnt taste, which made the dish very unpleasant to eat. What made the experience worse was seeing the server sitting at the counter playing on their phone instead of paying attention to the customers or the food. I expected much better from HiroNori. The seating inside is pretty tight so your table is basically an inch from the next one, almost like a communal dining experience. Nikumori Aburasoba ($18.50): Spicy pork, pork slices, green onion, and ajitama. The spicy ground pork was delicious and they were generous with the thin pork slices, though those weren't as good as the ground pork. The ajitama was perfectly jammy. The aburasoba flavors were okay but less flavorful than mazesoba, which I now know I prefer. Wagyu Roast Beef Aburasoba ($25.50) + Chashu ($1.75) + Spicy Minced Pork ($3.95) + Ajitama ($2.50): Wagyu roast beef, crispy onions, green onions, butter onion sauce, yogurt sauce, and raw egg yolk. The chashu was average but the wagyu roast beef was thin and incredibly tender. The yogurt sauce and raw egg yolk made this one pretty creamy which I actually liked more than the Nikumori. Ume ($1.50): Did not like this at all. Hard pass.

All the dishes are interesting and very flavorful, service is pretty quick as well. I've tried the Veggie Tempura and Agedashi Tofu from the bites section. Both are delicious even though these are fairly simple dishes, as expected. Tempura is oily as expected and is something which I skipped the next time to try some of the many nicer items they have to offer. It's crispy and delicious- and simple, what you'd expect from a tempura. All the vegan sushis are awesome and I especially liked their Veggie Tiger Roll and spicy veggie roll. None of the ingredients, like cream cheese overpower the flavors - everything is well balanced and each ingredient stands out uniquely on its own. Yum! It's a cute and small restaurant and they do not take reservations- only walk-ins. So I'd suggest going with some time in hand or going at an odd time. The server got us sat right away and was friendly. We decide to share a bunch of plates including the pan seared baos, different stuffed rice balls, stuffed scallion pancakes, fried wontons, cucumber salad, purple yam chips, chicken & corn dumplings and Mongolian beef potstickers The pan seared baos and the stuffed scallion pancakes were our absolute favorites. The baos were crispy, rich and juicy. The stuffed scallion pancakes were like tacos with the flakiest and most satisfyingly chewy taco shell. The meat inside was well seasoned and tender. These two dishes in particular are going to be must orders anytime I return. The cheesy kimchi rice balls and purple yam chips were both hits at the table as well. The chips they have made and come out in no time so you can start snacking right away. The rice balls were nice and crispy on the outside than soft and gooey on the inside. They had that bright kimchi flavor. The cucumber salad was good too, the main flavor of them was cilantro so if you don't like cilantro then you should skip it. The fried wontons were standard but satisfying. They did their job. Finally the chicken and corn dumplings and the Mongolian beef dumplings were the weakest of what we ordered. They got mixed reviews from the table. Consensus was that both were pretty bland overall and didn't compare to the other dishes we enjoyed so much. As far as the food there was a lot to love and a couple dishes we'd switch out for something else next time. But we also don't go in expecting to love every dish and are happy to have gotten so many dishes that we do love.
