Otometric Labs did a fantastic job from start to finish. Starting with the Yelp questionnaire, it was easy to get the ball rolling. Keep in mind I wasn't in a rush. I just wanted the problem solved. Yuan is very knowledgeable, friendly, and reliable. I brought in a 60" Samsung Smart TV in for a problem with its components. The problem was diagnosed at a very reasonable fee. Yuan called me with an estimate for parts and labor the following week, also very reasonable. The job was done and dusted in two weeks. Yuan had me test it before helping me load it into the back of my car in the rain. The five-year-old TV is good as new (knock on wood) at about one-fourth of the price of a new set. Fast and painless. I was devastated when I picked up my phone yesterday, after it fell out of my hoodie pocket and saw that the screen was shattered. I was afraid to hold it to my face to talk because tiny pieces of glass were still falling off. Yelped around and this place seemed solid and there was that $5 check in deal. $95 for a brand new OEM screen for my iPhone 5s, 3 month warranty included. I don't know about the turntable repair complaint above but.......I was satisfied. Sure this place is crowded with stuff in various states of repair, but isn't that a good sign, that he's got lots of business or perhaps people that have stiffed him and not come to pick up the repairs he's already done? In my case, my 50" Plasma HDMI inputs got fried due to a short in the cable, which involves replacing the motherboard. I called 3 different places and got pretty much the same answer, can't get the motherboard or the replacement could cost $250-$400 buck depending on how badly damaged the core is plus $150 for labor. That was pushing my threshold for repair/replace decision as I can replace the 5 yr old 50" plasma for $1000 or less. Well, I call Otometric Labs, he says take a photo of the rear input panel and bring it in. He then looks it up on the computer and says, he can get the motherboard and will come out to the house to do the repair (it's a hassle loading up a 50' Plasma TV in the car, taking it to his shop, ect) for $100 deposit (to order the part) and another $250 at completion. I say OK, and a week later, he's got the part, comes out to the house to replace the motherboard and all is fine for the total of $350. The guy that took care of me was named Lu (Chinese dude), very nice and knowledgeable. I recommend him for flatscreen TV repairs. read more

I took my turntable in to be repaired and got the exact opposite. First off, the store is a total unorganized mess! There is barely any room to stand inside as the floor is covered in electronic junk that is in various states of repair. The diagnosis and return call took over two weeks... they said my speed control was damaged and needed to be replaced and they had to order this. So... a month goes by and they finally have it ready. The bill was $80 dollars and at this point I didnt care as l just wanted to get it home and finally play some vinyl. I plug it in, get it set up to play, and nothing powers up... GGRRRRRRR!!! I take it back in and they said it would be ANOTHER charge to fix the power issue! IT DIDNT HAVE A POWER ISSUE WHEN IT WENT IN! So they ripped us off $80 dollars as they would not refund us our money for their lack of repair... in fact it came back to us in worse condition. On my two visits there in which i waited a very long time to be helped... I noticed other customers who also displayed a disgruntled attitude about the status of their repairs. Do not go here to have anything repaired, they have terrible service and even worse ability to actually repair anything efficiently or effectively. read more

Don't ever go to this place!!! I took my "Sony" phone thinking they can fix Sony products and sure enough they are scammers!!! I took my phone in for a charging port issue. The old man charged me $50.00 bucks and sure enough fixed my issue. 2 months later, the issue came back. I took it back, looked up my number and automatically said with no hesitation, "Your 30 day warranty has expired and you will have to pay full price again." I told him that's was not right. I'm expected to pay full price every 2 months for the bullshit repair he made and of course he said yes. This place is a Sham!!! They call themselves a laboratory to trick people in thinking their knowledgeable but sure enough they don't know the head from their ass!! The old man even tried to give me a tip and told me to move the charger until I see the lightning bolt and then place it down very slowly and gently. And if the charger moves to move it until I see the lightning bolt again. Such a crappy crappy place. They are not a laboratory. They are poor excuse for a repair shop. They have broken tv's all over the place with parts thrown all around to fool you that they are intelligent, when in reality, they don't know shit. Javier couldn't tell me anything and gave me a flippant "don't worry about it" when I asked about getting my $15 deposit back. I did get the deposit back with my unrepaired turnable. I've never written a review on Yelp, quit frankly because I've never experienced customer service at the level I received today. We have an older Sony 60" HD TV, that is getting a few miles on it, but we love the picture and it fits our home. Last evening we turn on the unit, NO picture, NO sound. After researching a bit in the manual, it appeared we needed a fan replaced. Called Otometric Labs as we had used them before to replace a lamp on the same unit. "Lu" said he could be out the next day between 1:00 and 2:00 pm. He gave me a ballpark estimate on the repair, IF it was the lamp that needed replacement. Lu called me next day at 1:30 and said he was on his way. Arrived promptly at 2:00 and started the repair. He was spending more time than I expected for the replacement of a fan, and soon notified me it wasn't the one fan that 90% of the time is the problem, and needed to return to the shop to source the "other" fan. Called me at 6:00 pm that evening (pouring rain) said he had found a fan, and would be back to the house within the hour. Within 30 minutes, Lu had replaced BOTH fans and charged me $20 more than his original estimate. Unheard of service in this day and age. read more
