You might have to work around his fishing trips but the man works hard and does good work. He is not afraid to tell you it's a big job or that it's something that he would be uncomfortable doing. I called about him taking my rims and replacing them with his old ones and he said he didn't know who I was and what I was talking about. After about thirty minutes, which included a quick test drive and a look under the hood, James discovered that my muffler was basically eroded from all my years of driving around in the snow up north! Since he discovered the issue so quickly he only charged me half price for the diagnostic (hurray, for honest mechanics!) I live nearby, and figured I'd just walk home while they worked on my car as installing a new muffler would take a few hours, but James the elder very kindly offered me a ride home. About 2.5 hours later when my car was ready they came and picked me up again. All in all, the diagnostic, a new muffler, and the labor to install cost just under $300, much more reasonable than the quotes I'd collected from other mechanics in the area. It's such a relief to have found a reliable mechanic nearby, and I will definitely be back for oil changes, etc.
