top notch pizza/awful delivery. My pizzas arrived from an out of breath, seemingly frustrated bike delivery boy. When I opened my boxes both pizzas were smooshed to one side, some slices flipped over or curled in on themselves. After rearranging the slices back to a normalish shape, and re-assigning most of the dislocated cheese and toppings I was able to enjoy my dinner. The pizza itself was great, with some real good ingredients. The pizzas are small and expensive but stand out when compared to chains or your average corner store pizza place. Worth it for real pizza lovers but maybe pick up to avoid any troubles with delivery. read more

My whole family and I love the OTTO's pizza. Their delivery does take a a lot of time sometimes and I also had to call to remind them once that we put in an online order through grub hub. But we love trying new toppings in their pies every time we go out to eat there. Good customer service also. read more

I was very excited about the new Otto Pizza in Arlington, especially when I heard there was butternut squash pizza, as I love this stuff. We bought one of those - which was very plain/disappointing -- and a 4-cheese, and both pizzas had really gritty cornmeal (and burnt cornmeal) on the bottom that was very unpleasant. I put cornmeal on the bottom when I make pizza at home, so I know that's what pizza makers do, but maybe they should brush the burnt cornmeal out of the oven periodically or use a finer cornmeal, as this gritty and burnt stuff spoiled the pizzas. The counter service and pizza preparation also seemed disorganized. They had a lot of really interesting ingredients in their various pizzas, but there didn't seem to be an option to pick your own ingredients/order a custom pizza either. read more

We love OTTO in our house. The sauce, toppings and crust get high marks. We order delivery about 3 times a month and order salad and pizza. (We love their salad with kale, chicken and veggies) Since it is usually a Friday we order at least 45 minutes ahead and they always deliver in that timeframe. I took a star off because our salad was forgotten the last two times we ordered. The second time the delivery staff member went back to get it. It wasn't clear to me that he could read that there was a salad on the order slip. Overall, Otto is yummy and works for us! read more

As a transplanted New Haven-ite, I have to say that Arlington and the Boston area are pretty much a barren waste land of pizza. There are only 2 pizza places worth having. Santarpio's in in East Boston is the best and rates a solid 7, but is nothing you coudn't get at any suburban strip mall within 15 miles of New Haven. Pizzaria Regina is also very good if you want to wait in line at a North End restaurant. Pepe's of New Haven is now in Belmont, but I haven't tried that. I've heard its the real deal, which would put it number one. But I can't vouch for it. So where does that leave Ottos. Well, like my Italian grandfather said to me one time when I took him to New London for the best yuppy pizza you could get in CT. "This is really good, but its not pizza.". That's how I feel about most of Otto's pies. They are good. But they aren't pizza. However, this is seriously good food. Its just not pizza. The cheese ranks a solid 6 as pizza. Which is fantastic in Arlington where my Brothers Place was previously the best in town with a 4-5. Ottos even puts corn meal under the pie, wihich is great. The mashed potato, scallion and bacon pie is AMAZing. But again. Its not pizza. So. In summary. Otto's food is excellent. And they deliver. Get some. Just don't expect Pizza. Don read more

I've gone to Otto a few times now. The pizza is decent. My complaint is they seem to apply the absolute minimum amount of topping. I get a red onion pizza (almost $20). There is very little onion to be had. I will say they are very consistent. I don't know their method of measure but it needs to be augmented! read more

Ordered a large Marguerita pizza at 4:14 pm Sunday - I hit "delivery" placed the order and added an Ottos $5 off coupon. At 5:15 I looked and noticed it said order ready for pick up. I had hit delivery first thing! I called and asked for a refund but a guy said so sorry we'll get a new one out to you "no charge" - I had paid for it!? - in 40 minutes. I said alright and at 6:40 still no pizza. I called and asked if the pizza was coming and Mary said well your pizza is here for pick up. I explained that a guy said he was having a fresh one made to be delivered by 6 and she did the "who did you talk to?" I talked to a guy - he didn't give me his name - they never do. She said well there are a lot of guys who work here. It's 7pm, Ottos wasted 3 hours of my weekend waiting and no dinner. read more

Service and quality is generally pretty good, but tonight (peak time Sat 7pm) they didn't answer the phone at all after 2 dozen rings over 2 calls, then after 8 rings on the 3rd attempt, immediately put me on hold for 4 minutes. Man, I miss Comella's. While their pizza wasn't spectacular, it was pretty good (& quickly served) for its price. I could get a whole pie for $5 and even a couple of toppings it still wouldn't top $8. The beer and wine and desserts were cheap too. I used to take dates there and go straight to a movie next door. Sometimes, I went alone and got a tiramisu and a beer--for under $10 and would read or write at night. They would play old fashioned music like Frank Sinatra and Billie Holiday. It had kind of a homey diner-like feel to it. I was sad when it closed. to add insult to injury, then Sabatino's closed too, which had great big slices for cheaper. So I heartened to hear about Otto's. But I've been disappointed. To start, they are overpriced and for (usually) pretty small slices. Their slices are not proportional, so you can get a huge one or a small one randomly and a few times I got stuck with a really small one. Even after pointing to bigger slices, I've gotten stuck with them. By contrast, Sabatino's slices were consistently huge and a buck cheaper. But the thing that irks me the most is how environmentally unfriendly they are. They have all these plastic cups with lids and straws filled with water and ice. That's what they give you when you ask for water. For a few times, I asked to have water in a glass and they complied and there were a couple of times I asked them to fill my empty water bottle and they did for me, no problem. But then, one day, the mgr just was like "nope, can't fill it up, it's against health regulations." Okay, so I asked for a glass of water instead. Mind you, this was mid-afternoon and they were empty and had plenty of glasses. But she said their glasses were for beer only, "no exceptions." When I explained staff had done this for me before, she said she's be scolding them over that and correcting them to not do them again. I have a health condition exacerbated by exposure to xenoestrogens--which are rampant in disposable plastic products like cups and so I try to avoid them. Yet, when I mentioned health reasons she shrugged and was brusque with me. I had already ordered and paid for my pizza, so I took it and went home to get water. I felt at the least she could have given me water that one time since her staff had done so with no clarification it was against some sort of inane rule. Another time, shortly before that, when we were getting our pizza pie to go, the pizza came with this weird hard plastic netting under the wax paper in the box. I've been ordering pizza pies for many years (I am originally from Brooklyn) and I've never seen any such netting. It's just wasteful. Can't recycle it. Since that incident with the water 8 mos ago, I've only been there twice, when I've been in a rush for something quick to eat and nothing's at home. I just don't appreciate the service style and the lack of care about people's health or the environment. To boot, their food isn't that great either. read more

Tried again 2 nights ago, the pizza was burnt and somehow had managed to fold itself in half when I opened the box at home. I walked it home, wasn't some driving mishap. Bummed. We were really looking forward to the opening in Arlington, just a few minutes from home. I ordered two pizzas to take out around noon. They were quite burnt and stone cold. Not tasty at all. Left me wondering whether they had been left over from the day before and reheated/burned. I first had pizza from Otto at their original Portland location years ago and I immediately fell in love with their weird menu offerings. Pulled pork and mango? Yes, please. When they first started moving into MA locations I never dreamt that they'd come out to the suburbs, but apparently dreams do come true. We fought through hordes of waiting patrons and got three pies there tonight. Just as good as I remember! Thin, almost crispy crusts with flavorful toppings that don't overwhelm the base. Perfect. The meat eaters in our family are still firmly team pulled pork pizza, and the vegetarians recommend the eggplant, ricotta, and basil. My only wish is that they'd consider delivering to Lexington someday, but hey, you can't have it all. read more

Stopped in for a couple of slices. Got pepperoni and bacon mashed potato. Both were very good. Added a drink and total came to around $13. I think they have a M-F lunch special which I may try for next time. Weekend prices were higher. Cashier seemed nice and brought the slices to our table. I also want to recognize that there may have been an error on my end when I initially placed the online order. I appreciate the pepperoni pie has plenty of pepperoni and the red sauce is flavorful, but the mediocre rating is based on my experience with the online order and delivery. I knew I had a busy day so I ordered at 1 pm for delivery at 5:30 pm. For some reason it appears my order did not go through, although everything in my account seemed to indicate it had (my address, phone, etc. had been saved). Not sure what went down but when I didn't receive my order by 5:40 I quickly called the restaurant. It turns out that for some strange reason my order wasn't placed. When I asked how long to receive my food if I ordered right then they said about 45 minutes so I decided to proceed with the order thinking I could deal with another 45 minutes of waiting. I am a first time customer and through the online system I was offered $2 off for a first time customer but when I asked the lady on the phone if I could apply that to my phone order she told me it was too late! Well to make a long story short, the pizza delivery guy didn't arrive until an hour and 15 minutes later!!! It totally wasn't worth it. We tried the Arlington location of Otto last night. The ordering is easy using their website and app - and you can track how they are progressing with your order. They've got a wide variety of unusual toppings including butternut squash and chicken with avacado. The pizza was extremely tasty. My only complaint is the parking for pick up is tough - especially on a Saturday night - they are located right next to a movie theater which draws big crowd. I'll be back. read more

Was very excited that Otto Pizza was opening in Arlington and that they had butternut squash pizza, a favorite of mine. I got that, which was fairly tasteless (could have used the counterpoint of a few crumbles of sharp cheese like blue or gorgonzola); my daughter got the 4 cheese. They both came with gritty burnt coarse cornmeal all over the bottom that made eating the pizzas very unpleasant. I put cornmeal under my pizza when I make it at home, so I know that's what people do, but it is never this distracting. Also the place seemed disorganized as far as ordering and getting your pizzas. There are interesting ingredients in some of the combinations, but I don't think you can order custom pizzas there either. Overall disappointing. read more

Excellent. Worth the hype. Arlington finally had a pizza contender. Crust was perfect. Light and airy with a nice crunch. Sauce was nicely flavored. Not to sweet or salty. We got a cheese pizza and the spicy pulled pork. The spicy pulled pork was much better than the cheese. I can't wait to try some of their other flavors. Place was briskly busy for the opening. I bet it will get busier as more people realize they are open. I gave 4 stars because the Cesar salad was very small for 7.00 and the pies are a bit pricey. Hopeful they will add the kids sized pizza and more of a salad variety. All in all a win. Nice addition to town. read more

ordered a gluten free pepperoni pizza and a large sriracha chicken and avocado with ricotta. the gluten free was crispy and flavorful. Ordered two pizzas from OTTO in Arlington, they were both delicious. The crust was fresh with crunchy accents. Cheese was cooked evenly and the sauce wasn't too sugary. Toppings were all fresh and generously added. Delivery time was reasonable. Pizzas are a little on the expensive side, starting around $12 for what is basically an individual size. Also almost three dollars for a can of flavored soda water is a little ridiculous. read more

We have tried this place on two different occasions. The first time we ordered a large pepperoni pizza and a salad and it was awful, especially the salad. We also couldn't get over it costing $33 plus tip for both things for delivery. After months of avoiding the place and originally giving it a one star review, we attempted it for a second time and stuck with ordering pizza only, and I'm glad we did. The pizza was delicious. However, it's still costly. I'm sure this place just needs to work out its kinks as it just did recently open up. read more
