I have always tried to support small business, but this biz makes it truly difficult. I am basing my review on SEVERAL visits over many years, but I won't be back. The owner is elderly, and his been here for decades. Her husband owns a tailor shop on the other side of Central Expressway near SMU, so they really have a walk on this area. You never know whether you are going to speak with a pleasant person, or someone who is irritated and is just ready to retire. She can be extremely rude and short with you, and it is a crapshoot on whether or not she will make the effort to take an alteration that is not just taking up a hemline. I wanted to be able to give this place 5-stars because the 73-yr old Korean lady here is so nice and friendly. And I feel bad that she is still working at her age. But I would say the quality of work was just okay. The bottom edge of one of the legs on the jeans I had hemmed are uneven by a good quarter inch and the stitching is a bit wavy. I didn't bother to try to have them fix it since I don't have time to drive back and forth. There are at least two women working here so perhaps the workmanship varies depending on who does the work because other photos I saw on Yelp showed much better quality stitching. Cash only and they didn't even provide me any kind of receipt so I'm not sure you can bring stuff back if you find a problem. This woman is totally overpriced for what she does and it is just upsetting how little she cares for the clothes. The past two times I have been it was for a simple hem of the dress and both times they were crooked, not the length I asked for, and looked bad. Smells like an ashtray as soon as you enter. They have a small dog inside so just FYI for those allergic to animals or smoke. i have my daughters Quinceanera in April and due to Covid and going to school, I never have time to shop in person for our dresses. So, I bought my dress and her court's dresses online. Mine needed the hem taken up and the girls dresses were too revealing in the cleavage area. So l found the perfect fabric to match at a fabric store along with rhinestone trim to add to the waistline. Due to all the good reviews I decided to have my dresses altered here. Well Kim took a look at my dress and said it was impossible to take up the hem due to an underslip that was attached to the dress. Then she looked at the girls' dresses and said adding fabric to the cover the cleavage area would make the dress look tacky and that the rhinestone trim needed to be done by hand and would take her all day so she refused to do my dresses. I was very shocked at her lack of service and courtesy. But thanks to her awful treatment and refusal, I found a professional tailor who took my dresses and did exactly what I asked for! read more

Great gem... Had my two Tory Burch jeans hem for $10.00.... All I have to say not what I expected. She did a great job. Whe I dropped them off on Monday was ready by Thursday. She truly is busy. A gentlemen brought in 6 suites to have altered right behind me. I really thought she was just going to see it up. And she even pressed my jeans for me. I would highly recommend her. The quality of work here is outstanding -- I had a pile of things of different material (some easier than others i.e. denim versus leather) that needed taking in amongst a few random other things. Every piece of clothing was done impeccably. I distinctly remember trying on my leather skirt that was originally 3 sizes too big for my waist, but now fit me perfectly and saying "she is a MAGICIAN". I love this place, however I am so disappointed that I dropped off an Easter dress for my daughter to be altered and returned to pick up only to see that they have closed due to the covid situation without telling me, so now I have wasted $50 on a dress that my daughter won't be able to wear because they closed without telling their customers who had items pending pick up. This was the worst tailoring experience I've ever had. First, the owner over charged my ticket for an extra pair of pants (the ticket included tax) and upon arriving at the store to pay with card she all of a sudden remembered she's cash only. Okay major inconvenience but whatever, I drive up the street and pay an extra $5 in ATM fees. I'm upset, but not the end of the world, bigger things to worry about. When I got back to the store with cash, my ticket had only been adjusted $7 (each pair of tailored pants cost $12) and the owner REFUSED to correct my ticket and pay me back my correct change. She stated that they had to add tax but my prior ticket that she gave me originally already included tax so she over charged me $5. Upon leaving the store in frustration, the owner then had the audacity to call my personal cellphone and call a f***ing b**** for telling her she is scamming customers. DO NOT SEND YOUR BUSINESS HERE OR YOU WILL BE OVERCHARGED FOR YOUR PRE NEGOTIATED REQUEST. If you're looking for an inexpensive tailor, and quality of work is not of primary concern, look no further!! In all fairness, considering that she is intoxicated at all times, I think the work is pretty good overall. And did I mention she was cheap? But, sadly, after she ruined a couple of my shirts, I decided the price was, in fact, wrong. Again, in fairness, she did some pretty good work on several items. Perhaps that work was done before the 10AM buzz set in. It's hard to be certain. She did bust out a Karaoke machine (srsly) while I was there, the idea of which is amusing, but the reality of which was sobering. And, after the shock wore off, obnoxious. Cost is $5-7 per item, which is cheaper than when I lived in Tulsa, OK. She has always done a fabulous job of both shortening my pants as well as taking in/letting out waistlines. Her shop isn't much to look at, but I've been really happy with the alterations she's made to my dressier clothes and suits. She totally re-made a business suit for my husband, too. The reason I went with 4 stars instead of 5 is her work with knits. I took some men's polo shirts to her (my husband has an athletic build, so i got him XL but they were too boxy and long), and she got them the right size, but in a month or so, the hem she had stitched at the bottom had made a row of holes in the shirt. I usually get my clothes tailored because of my body shape (very athletic). So for me, when I buy a 18 1/2 collar size dress shirt at Dillard's for example, its like putting on your grandmothers night gown. The problem is, when I get my clothes tailored, its costing me an arm and a leg to do just so my clothes fit me... When I was looking online for a new tailor, I ran across this tailor shop. I called the store for there prices and they are very reasonable, especially for the area its located in (University Park/SMU). Its very reasonable, like a needle in the haystack kind of reasonable. But seriously, call for yourself! Its not one of those places that changes the prices the second they get done pinning you. The price on the board is the price you'll pay. So I took a few dress shirts, a chino, one pair jeans, and two trousers just so I can see what she can do to them... I wanted the dress shirts to be more fitting to my torso and the arm sleeves to be more fitting around. The chinos I wanted them to be tapered and hemmed, my jeans and trousers were the same way just to the exception that I wanted suspender buttons on the trousers. So what were the results? Amazing! The fit on all my articles of clothing fit perfectly! Not only that, but the quality of the job was just the same as if you went to a more expensive tailor. She is an eccentric woman and at one point when she couldn't open the cash register she exclaimed "oh sh**t!" and started mumbling something about her son. As a previous reviewer mentioned, I too thought she was intoxicated. Peculiarity aside, I will be coming back to her for more alterations. Her rate was pretty cheap, but she does require you to pay in cash (probably to keep her costs low). Usually when I go to the tailor they have to redo the tailoring a second time because they did not get it right the first time, but she ended up fixing what I needed just the one time! I came here according to the reviews with very high hopes and the WORK WAS ABSOLUTELY Terrible. The clothing fit and looked as if it was never touched. Baggier and ill fitting. Worse than when I went in. Waited an entire week for 9 pieces of clothing and paid 120 cash for garbage. WORSE craftsmanship ever. Happy everyone else had a great experience because I did not. Literally theft. NEVER again. I wish I could rate this place based on a service they provided me, but I cannot. I brought two pieces to have two patches sewn onto the them. The lady working started putting pins in and said sure no problem, pick them up Tuesday. I asked if there was any way I could pick them up earlier, as I need them for a ceremony on Tuesday, and she took the pins out and muttered go somewhere else patches take more time. The reason I tried this place was because it had good reviews. I could learn how to sew them on myself by Tuesday without the garbage attitude. All the thumbs down. read more
