this is our favorite lunch stop en-route to the Adirondacks. We almost always get lunch and eat great sandwiches in front patio space and feed the dog as well. I would like to order the biscotti packages to be mailed to my home but it doesn't seem that they do mail order services... so I am very bummed out! 7/27/17 Update: I just called to see if they will mail me 8 packages of the biscotti since I live in southern area Westchester, not at all close to any other distribution areas but they said no [ :-( ]. If you find yourself in Chatham, I would definitely recommend ODB for breakfast or lunch. We recently took a little detour off the Taconic Pkwy and the Chatham Brewery looked crowded so we decided to check this place out. Cozy little cafe with lots of well-executed deli standards and some eastern Mediterranean touches thrown in (though I would presume their raison d'etre is their bread). Everything we had was good: pastrami sandwich, a few pastries, a macchiato and my girlfriend had some kind of seaweed tea. And I dare say the red cabbage coleslaw was phenomenal. All the servers were great and despite what one of the previous reviewers wrote, the bathroom was a delight. Used it twice! read more

I am reviewing the gluten free bakery -- specifically the lunches at that establishment. The salad plates and most of the baked goods are fabulous! $6-$8 for the salad plates is a fabulous deal for top notch ingredients and a nice side of bread. Why not 4 or 5 stars? The service staff is atrocious!! I am a regular and enjoy popping in for lunch or a cup of their delicious coffee on a very consistent basis. The staff is consistently SLOW, SURELY and when they make and effort to be pleasant you can see that they are straining and that the customer is an inconvenience to be reckoned with. A request for extra salad dressing and an extra plate, were just today met with a look of outright contempt! The staff would have had to multi-task....horrors! It took 2 requests. Other days, the staff will chat among themselves or with someone they know while remotely glancing at you as you stand behind the counter. Do not expect speedy service, EVER. Perhaps they need to change the service system or working conditions in this place? Is it so unbearable, that the staff remain chronically miserable and semi-hostile? Maybe they need new staff? Would be nice to walk in and have food served with pleasant efficiency. Until then, maybe speaking out on this forum will cause management to take note and rectify the situation? read more

Understand that I live in Chatham and badly want this place to succeed, but every visit I am disheartened and discouraged. Management needs to shake things up: food needs to get to the table faster and the kitchen needs to be told that three slices of meet do not a deli sandwich make, especially at $10 a pop. You don't need outlandish sandwiches ala Carnegie Deli in NYC but at least put somewhere between 1/4 and 1/2 pound of meet between the bread, guys. This just based on 1.5 visits here. First time I was turned away because it was too busy and they weren't even taking coffee or breads to go orders (or so we were told). Second visit I ordered a on the go breakfast sandwich and coffee. The coffee is meh (bland) and I'm still waiting on the sandwich 1/2 hr later. The staff seems busy but no one looks at you or smiles. delicious. buttery, flakey, chocolaty, fantastic... the chocolate croissants were to die for. the apple turnovers had a bit more bread than apples, but they were surprisingly delicate, and fluffy. the sugar on top was also a nice touch. i can usually eat olive loafs by themselves... that's right, i sit down and eat a loaf of bread. this loaf, although flavorful, requires some deli meat, or some cheese, it needs a companion to be eaten with. they have a cart outside of the "egg" in albany, which is where i happened upon this fabulous store. the sales woman was very friendly and did not mind answering the thousand questions i had for her, and she was very kind as i struggled to restrain myself from buying all the treats there. it was a great experience, and great baked goods. you definitely need to have the chocolate croissant. do it now! : D read more

Don't even know why they call it "Daily Bread"...they do not bake daily. Be careful what you select, you can end up with days old baked goods. We go in from time to time expecting things to change, (they don't) but still make sure to ask if the bread or pastry was made that morning. read more

We wandered into this fantastic bakery-come-sandwich cafe in a world-weary haze after a 4 hour battle with a donkey and her mom... (No joke - it was a photo shoot on a farm and my mentally-lacking GF was "assisting" me...) Seriously though, I was shooting photos of a very uncooperative donkey for a magazine and my GF had decided to accompany me for fun - so afterwards we were facing a 4 hour drive home and we were famished. Thanks to Yelp, we found this place and, although we had missed lunch time, we were accommodated and made fresh salads and sandwiches with a smile. The food was awesome, the staff was jovial, and the entire experience was heartwarming and memorable. Go check it out if you're in town - there's def nothing better around. Too bad. We had a decent lunch there last week so took a friend there for birthday breakfast this morning: 1) a big hunk of corned beef in the vegetarian's potatoes, 2) more cheese than veg in the veggie omelet 3) overdone eggs with the corned beef hash. Outstanding food at a cozy setting. I had stopped here with a friend for lunch recently. The town of Chatham is just a few minutes off an exit from the Taconic, so it's always convenient. This lovely bakery has that small-town, family-owned feel and ambiance. Their coffee drinks are better, fresher and more flavorful than most hipster coffee houses in the Berkshires can offer, and at a better price! For lunch I usually choose one of their Mediterranean dishes or the Ruben sandwich, which - I kid you not - gives the one from Katz Deli in Manhattan a run for its money! In summer months, they open up their rear deck, which has a lovely garden and offers natural shade. If you happen to be passing by the town of Chatham NY, definitely stop by for a great lunch. read more

Best place to eat in Chatham. The five stars is for the falafel alone, which I'd say is the best in the Hudson Valley. Great menu selection otherwise, awesome beers available, and a ton of great bread baked fresh for you to take home. Chic farm-to-table food doesn't have to taste amazing or be served by people with big hearts, but it is here. As someone who lived in the Bay Area, where every other brunch place is very similar to this, I have high standards. Our Daily Bread meets and often exceeds those standards, and unlike SF, you have space to stretch your arms a bit! The Middle Eastern Platter is my go-to, and the veggie burger is top-notch. To think I passed by this place several times and never went in because I thought it was a sit down restaurant only. I work as a paramedic in this town and one morning I see a co-worker walk by with a bacon egg and cheese on a croissant and I demanded to know where it was from. Toasted and buttery, made with care and time taken. Definitely the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had. I had to come back for lunch. But what's this? A Ruben (a favorite of mine) for $14? What gives? What gives is the fact that the meat, the bread, the dressing, the everything is made from scratch in house. They may be a bunch of yuppies but damn they care about what they're making. Mediocre breakfast in a lovely, airy, sunshine-bathed wooden space. My boyfriend and I stopped in on a recent Sunday hoping for a hearty morning meal and a taste of the delicious honest country fare Yelpers have been raving about. Our meals were certainly hearty-the portions were generous, prices reasonable and coffee was both delicious and plentiful. However, the food itself was a bit of a bummer. Considering this place has "Bread" in the title, we expected superior carby goodness-but the thin, crispy slices of toast (mine whole wheat, his rye) accompanying both our egg dishes looked awfully bleak. They seemed to have been brushed (or maybe even sprayed?) with an oily non-butter substance. Yikes! They had very little flavor and the texture was reminiscent of melba toast. I hate to admit it, but Pepperidge Farm would have been preferable. ODB, get your act together in the bread department! I know you've got incredible bread baking in there every day, cut some nice thick slices, butter 'em up and stop serving your breakfast customers crappy day[s] old toast! Besides the toast, I had the omelette special: olives, goat cheese and a "spicy tomato sauce"...It was fairly blase, with heavy mounds of goat cheese and a tiny dribble of the very mild sauce. Side potatoes were soft and mushy though pretty nicely seasoned and attractively brown in places. My boyfriend made the right decision ordering French toast on the side of his standard ration fried eggs/ham/mushy potatoes. The slabs of ODB-baked challah were positively bodacious-now that's what they need over in the toast department! Well-seasoned and lusciously textured, the French toast's only downfall was the sprinkle of completely tasteless winter blueberries and strawberries on top. ODB, I'd say keep it simple next time, that French toast is perfection and needs no extra flourishes! Forgot to mention-right after we were seated, our waitress slapped a helter skelter plate of warm za'atar dusted pita strips accompanied by a pile of quick pickled carrot slices and cauliflower florets on our table without explanation. This unexpected and random amuse bouche threw us off, as it was well before noon and we were in a decidedly breakfast-y mood...coffee would have been more appropriate. We nibbled and found everything tasty, but didn't want to spoil our appetites...plus at that point we were still anticipating exquisite fresh-made bread with our breakfasts to come.... I don't know-perhaps we made the wrong move coming here and ordering eggs; perhaps ODB would've impressed had we simply stopped for coffee and a pastry. The atmosphere was certainly lovely and welcoming, the facilities clean and bright, and the waitstaff attentive. I just wish the food had been yummier. read more

We have enjoyed ODB for the last year and a half we have lived in Chatham. Their bread is out of this world, great salads, superb granola. The only issue is whether to eat there or bring it home. I had two breakfasts here this week -- toasted sesame bagel and coffee. Bagel was very good -- but I never got there early enough to snag an everything bagel. Please make more everything bagels!!!Service was good, coffee was good. I saw some bigger breakfasts coming out of the kitchen and can't wait to try them in the future -- they looked amazing.
