The only good things were the Mock Croc, dessert and chicken sandwich. Our bloomin onion was way too salty, the bloomin burger was extremely small & over cooked, the Long Island cocktail was disgusting & undrinkable, and lastly the baked potato had way too much salt on it (see picture). The food is way overpriced and the service was extremely slow. Will not be back, very disappointing.

Outback's are pretty standard across the board when it comes to the quality of the food, the variants are the cleanliness of the restaurant, the service, and the success of cooking steaks to temperature. The service was above and beyond. We were able to call ahead and get reservations on graduation weekend (they don't typically take reservations). From our interactions with the hostess to a manager checking in on our food, they were nothing but kind and patient on a busy and stressful weekend. The restaurant and bathrooms were decently clean and I have no complaints with that. I got the Chicken on the Barbie and the potato. The chicken was juicy, tender, and flavorful (5/5). The potatoes were good on the inside, but it's not always the inside that counts when the potato skins are seasoned to perfection. It seemed like the potato's were overcooked as the skins were hard to cut. We also got a filet mignon with Mac & cheese. The steak was cooked inconsistently but the server swooped in to quickly deal with the situation. She offered the steak be recooked to eat here or to go. We think this could be largely due to the kitchen being overwhelmed with orders on such a big weekend, and this would not deter us from going back in the future!

I was visiting family for the holidays and the evening I flew in we met friends for dinner. There was a total of 10 of us. My son and I ordered the same thing (steak and shrimp pasta) the steak was disgusting and was so fatty it made me want to be sick! I've never had a bad experience at any Outback Ive ever eaten at until now. Our service was good except for having to remind the waiter for things we asked for. He was very pleasant and nice but would forget everything we asked for and we'd have to wait until we saw him again to ask for it again and hope that we got it. Our ticket for the 3 in my party was almost $100 and it was not worth what we paid! I told my son I wouldn't even feed my dog the steak we were served!

Not sure what happened, but my medium cooked ribeye was so dry and old. The outer layer was overcooked to well done, but the inner layer was okay. It is still very dry. The blooming onion was burnt. My wife had sirloin, which was good. The Sydney Mushroom a was good also. Overall experience was not good. No idea how you can make a medium cooked ribeye so dry and lousy, and it was not even hot but room temperature steak, disgusting. The supervisor told me she was going to take the ribeye off, but the waiter only gave me a discount. I only had two bites of that ribeye, and it was so bad that I couldn't eat anymore. Before I left, I called our waiter, he looked at me, and then he quickly turned to the close table to him. After he finished with that table, he stood there for a few seconds like he was debating if he wanted to help me or not, and he chose to ignore me, even the busboy was looking at him. At the end, the customer service was so bad after payment. If you still want service, you better not pay ahead.

The food is excellent when compared to other local restaurants, and the menu offers a reasonable American fare variety without an overabundance of selections. I did get a very much overcooked medium rare prime rib on my last visit, but the waitress took care of that right away. (Still, someone should have caught that before it got to the table.) Word of warning: the Sunday Brunch menu is actually a breakfast menu with limited choices. Last time I checked, lunch items were not available on Sundays. TIP: on sunny days you may prefer to wait for a table that is shaded by an umbrella or part of the building, it can get pretty hot out there.

After hearing about The Farmhouse Restaurant located in Christiansburg, Virginia, and seeing a…read morephoto of it, I was intrigued by its appearance and intererested in finding out more information about it. So I did my research and found out that it opened its doors in 1963 in a 19th-century autentic farmhouse which once belonged to the Ridinger family. It has had several owners and managers throughout its history. Roger Neel and Neal Keesee, owners of Billy's and Cornbeef and Co. in Roanoke, purchased the restaurant and reopened it in 2016. Kevin Murphy was the general manager in 1996. Devin Whittaker is currently listed as the General Manager. The restaurant has been a long-standing establishment in the New River Valley, known for its beef dishes. Currently its menu has been expanded to include a nice selection of seafood items as well. Additions to the original house include several banquet rooms, a bar, an outdoor dining area that can be used year round, and a caboose annex. After being awarded the Triad Yelper of the Year 2024 Award at the Yelpies Award Ceremony last year, an event that honored the highest-performing Yelp Elites, I decided that this year, as an All-Star Yelp Elite, I not only wanted to be the first to discover new restaurants and bring them to the attention of the public, but also to uncover those found in hidden paths that for one reason or another have not reached the public in its totality. And The Farm House in Christiansburg, Virginia, is the perfect example. So one day I made a reservation through Open Table and set out enthusiastically in my new car to go explore what it was all about. After driving in the highway through a nasty rain and thunder storm, the rain finally stopped as I arrived there and was parking in their nice size parking lot. The decor inside was rustic yet very cozy, with many booths inside small spaces, and a couple of very elegant dining rooms nicely set-up and decorated with one of a kind framed Virginia Tech Football memorabilia. It also contained a beautiful award winning wine cellar and exclusive bourbon room. The restaurant was divided into two sides with alleyways where the individual enclosed booths were located and each alleyway had a street name so one could find their way back if they had to leave to use the restroom. The left side was decorated with antique farm items and old photographs and the right side with beautiful colorful paintings by Rochthilde. The caboose annex is located on that side. When I arrived a friendly young lady hostess greeted and welcomed me and after confirming my reservation took me to my booth which was located in Hokie Hwy. You can see the location in my photo of their map. Soon after, my server greeted me and took my order. I started off with a Mojito Mocktail to drink. Their Crispy Fried Calamari as appetizer. Followed by a Caesar Salad. And as the main entrée I had their famous Prime Rib medium rare with the Grilled Shrimp enhancement and the two sides being a Loaded Baked Potato and a Special Corn which was the side of the day. The meal also included these special rolls with butter, which clearly pointed out the exquisite nature of the cuisine of this magnificent restaurant. At this time, I took a brief escape to go visit the bar area and there I happened to have met the Restaurant Manager who gave me a warm welcome and thanked me for having traveled all this way for the pleasure of dining at his restaurant. I found my way back and all the food was amazingly delicious. I invite you to take a look at my photographs accompanying this review. The Prime Rib one of the best I've ever had. Comparable only to Billy's in Downtown Roanoke. My server came by at the appropriate times to check on me and did an excellent job. The Restaurant Manager also came by a couple of times to see if I was enjoying my dinner and if all was to my satisfaction. It was nice to learn that he lived down in Cave Spring, my neck of the woods, and where one of my best and favorite restaurants is located, The OTH Chophouse. For the Grand Finale of what had been an amazing cuisine and an extraordinary dining experience, I had a slice of their Peanut Butter Pie for dessert. It too was amazing. To conclude I highly recommend this restaurant for those special occasions when you want to enjoy a fine dining experience in a very unique and historic restaurant, in a comfortable ambiance, with an amazing culinary masterpieces, and excellent service.

Once we got over the fact that this joint is located inside a gas station convenience store, we placed our order and stood in line with people paying for their gasoline so we could pay for our food and a couple bottles of water. About 10 minutes later, they called our name; we grabbed our food from the counter and sat down at one of the five tables. We popped open our foam clamshells and dug into fluffy pancakes while "Honkytonk Badonkadonk" blared on the radio. This place is about half the cost of a more traditional restaurant, has half the ambiance, but this was one of the best breakfasts I have eaten in a long time. My first bite threw me a little -- the cheese wasn't fully melted, and I'm usually all about that stringy, gooey pull. But by the second bite, I got it: the tomato inside was still cool, so if the cheese had been melted all the way through, the tomato would've had to be piping hot too, and that would've thrown off the whole balance. Smart execution, even if it wasn't what I expected at first. The crinkle fries on the side were cooked to perfection -- crispy on the outside, exactly the right texture. This spot is a great late-lunch/early-dinner stop if you're passing through. Simple, well-made food that hits the spot. Will definitely be back next time we're on this road.

Lost in space?) From the shiny chrome restaurant exterior that resembles a space ship, to the menu that has things on it like The Black Hole (a black bean burger) to the Creamy Spudnik Soup (potato cheddar soup, basically). It's all outer space, all the time, at Lost in Taste. I visited Lost in Taste with a group, and we all got a bunch of different things. One of the things that was first on my list to order was a cup of coffee. And even though I was visiting for a late lunch, they had coffee brewed and ready to go. Sweet! That perked me right up. My group got a few different appetizers for the table. We got the Canis Comets, which are huge hush puppies (think palm-sized) served with blackberry jam and round balls of soft, salted butter. They came three to an order, and they were delicious, and definitely enough to feed six people because we cut them in half. Another appetizer we ordered was the Big Bang Shrimp, which was breaded shrimp topped with a drizzle of signature sauce. These were delicious, too! The Big Bang Shrimp come eight to an order. One of the people in our group was a wing aficionado, so we also got the traditional, jumbo, bone-in wings, which are served with chips. There are nine different sauces to choose from, and we got the wings slathered in Jupiter's Storm, a mango habanero sauce. Very good! I don't typically like bone-in wings because I think they are a scam, but I appreciated the sweet and savory flavors of these wings. As for me, I got the Caesar salad (meh) and the B.L.I.T. sandwich: bacon, lettuce, interstellar tomato and mayo. It was very good and huge! If you like bacon, then this is the sandwich for you. Lost in Taste is space themed, but it also has an old-fashioned diner vibe. It's a fun restaurant to visit if you want diner food, and also be surrounded by space.

I remember my visit was a special one as it was busy, yet the service and food were impeccable. Bull & Bones put their best foot forward that night and I left Blacksburg thinking that B&B was one reliable dining spot. Neal & I returned on 11/15/25 to check out Tech's football game at Florida State (our hotel wasn't televising the game). We were in town to check out VT v. Charlotte - a basketball game that featured some promising young talent for the Hokies. Of course, I arrived at B&B with high hopes since my previous experience was a memorable one. Unfortunately, my latest visit wasn't quite as good. The evening began well enough - there were plenty of available seats at the bar and we were greeted almost immediately. Our server was nice and pleasant, and returned with our drink orders promptly. We took a few minutes to look over the menu and we were able to order without issue. We weren't in a rush, and the vibe was fairly chill. I didn't expect top tier service, but there were stretches in which an employee couldn't be located in order to get continued service. For example, our server was cut (yet no one informed us) - we didn't see her after she took our dinner orders. I looked around constantly to ask for another round of drinks, but she wasn't around. While waiting for our entrees, what appeared to be the manager on duty stopped by to tell us that our entrees may take a while because our ticket was sent to the kitchen right behind a 40-top's order. He was apologetic, but we were cool with it because of the game. Surprisingly, our food arrived less than 10 minutes after the manager's table visit - we probably wouldn't have noticed anything was wrong if he hadn't said anything. I appreciated the transparency, though. I saw it as one of the evening's highlights. After the food arrived, it was a constant struggle to find any available server (as a reminder, no one told us she was cut). Refills and/or more rounds of drinks were held to a minimum. That irked me - it got to the point where I went to bar whenever I needed something (I wouldn't have minded doing that during the visit, but they set the expectation by providing table service - meaning I want table service for the duration). Neal ordered wings, while I decided to go big with a ribeye. Neal devoured his entree but I wasn't happy with mine. I ordered the ribeye rare - it came out nearly well-done. My entree came with two sides - I ordered sweet potato fries and rice. The sweet potato fries were overcooked and burnt. I tried one fry and one fry only because it was charred and inedible. The rice wasn't much better as it was cold and mushy. Since a garlic parm fries appetizer was already at our table, I loaded up on that since they were pretty good. The steak was passable since it wasn't completely dry, so I ate about half of that before I became full. So, B&B was a miss, imo, this time around. It would be easy to dismiss this as things going haywire during a busy Saturday night dinner service but, outside of the 40-top, they were empty. So, this visit felt like B&B's quality has gone downhill. I hope this isn't the norm for B&B because they honestly are a good place. But after time, some businesses lose their focus, and it felt like B&B reached that stage. Hopefully they can re-evaluate, reinvent, refocus and improve, but if their food quality continues to suffer, they won't last. Thank you, Bull & Bones. JV

I visited Bull & Bones with a group of people, and we ordered a few appetizers to share, so I got to taste some things on the menu. First of all, we got complimentary potato chips for the table. Sweet! We also ordered the fried pickles (not my thing, but people were going off on them). Also, we got two orders of the wings: one was boneless wings with buffalo sauce, and the other was regular bone-in wings with Caroline Gold sauce. My favorite were the wings with Carolina Gold sauce, because of the flavor. They were so savory and slightly sweet. For dessert, we got the warm cookie with two scoops of ice cream (yum!) and the blueberry lemon cake, which didn't look like much but tasted amazing. A little bit of dessert goes a long way, and I think you could get away with sharing a dessert, for sure. The ambiance at Bulls & Bones is casual. The Ahi Tuna Wrap is one of my favorites and comes with a side of ginger sauce that's just the right amount of bite to it. Haven't had a chance to sit outside yet, but the patio is well maintained and inviting!

The beer was solid and we drink a lot of beer. We didn't want to get too full so we ordered 3 appetizers and all of them were AWESOME. Not kidding. My husband was very satisfied. We got the Tenderloin Crostinis, Spinach and artichoke dip with chips, and peel and eat shrimp that was cook in their own beer. So. Freaking. Good. As for beer, I got the No. 4 Porter (loved it) and my husband got the 1/2 Shot IPA (loved it). Service was great. Our waitress was very sweet. As it's winter, we didn't get a chance to enjoy the back patio but the inside was very cozy. We sat in a booth and it was nice and secluded. You can even see into the room where the magic happens! If you're in the area, I definitely recommend. My husband already wants to come back on our way back down to Tennessee.

It doesn't matter that customers have made reservations months in advance. It doesn't matter that when the owner calls to confirm your reservations and you request indoor seating. What matters is they want you to eat there despite what you've requested. Our group sat outside on the semi covered outdoor porch. Nearby other customers were VERY unhappy that they had been given outdoor seating despite previous requests to sit indoors. Most of these customers left. We stayed because we wanted a decent meal and we wanted to celebrate. Service was spotty. It took nearly 10 minutes for a server to come outside and offer to take our drink orders or even pour us water. Yes, we were parched while sitting outdoors in 55 degree windy weather. The owner of the restaurant walked past us several times to count the vacant outdoor seats. She never acknowledged us and only looked at us after we called out to her. She was RUDE to say the least. Our server was friendly and apologetic, not sure why he didn't come out to acknowledge our group of 7 diners. The food: yes, other yelpers had concluded that the bread seemed very similar to Mrs. Schubert roll. If you know them you know. The other shocking revelation was when they called to confirm our reservation, they informed us that they were only serving the prix fixed meal of $69. Most of us ordered the "hand cut 8 oz filet", served with over cooked green beans. The salads(most of us got Caesar), was not a hand tossed dressing, not quite sure what the dressing was made of and the cheese seemed like a bagged shredded parm. We were so cold that we ordered our desserts(included) to go. Eating in the warmth of our cozy hotel dining lobby was our goal. The desserts were not anything special. The key lime pie was a disaster(crumbled and squishy), the rest of them not worth noting. Finally worth noting is their "wine", a semi inexpensive bottle of wine was out of stock so instead of coming to let us know, they brought out a cheaper local Virginia wine. Disappointing. Stay away if you are in doubt.
