DH and I arrived at about 8pm after our usual movie night for something to eat here. We were greeted and told it would be about 15 minutes before being seated given a beeper and strolled into the bar for a beer and sangria. The beeper went off right away so we took our drinks to a booth right in the bar area in which my DH liked as he could view the many TV's located there definitely a sports bar! Neil, our server immediately offered us warm bread and a chance to read the menu and decide what we wanted to order. Another server walked around the place with samples which I thought was a nice effect and not done in many restaurants. My DH ordered a medium cooked 9 inch steak $18.49 served with house salad and baked potato. He said it was perfectly cooked and I ordered Alice Springs Chicken Quesadilla stuffed with mushrooms, bacon, cheese and grilled chicken at $11.49. It was good but not exceptional. I think if you like steak this is a great place to come to. The main thing about this place is the service our server and all other servers were so very nice and very diligent about making sure we were taken care of. I'm sure I will get some questions about my grade. A 3 star isn't a bad grade it's a medium grade. My DH would probably give his steak a 4 star so my total would be 3 1/2. So thats why it's a 3 star. I'm sorry but this was the worst experience I've ever had with this store. Normally they are decent slow service but decent food but this was too slow. Only talked to 1 person the entire time, it was the same person that sat us. Nobody bothered to acknowledge us, we were a party of 3, people in had been waiting for 10 minutes before we got up and left, was never acknowledged by the wait staff, the party of 7 who sat down maybe 5 minutes after us was being acknowledged before us. My fiancee and I recently took the hour and a half drive up to Albany hoping beyond hope to find that ever-illusive Outback that still gives their waiting customers those little beeper thingies to let them know when their table is ready. Well, I'm sad to report that after our super long drive not only do they no longer use the beeper thingies but they weren't even really busy so we didn't have to wait anyway. Feeling pretty bummed about this we asked if we could just buy some of their bread and maybe have some free water. After being told that it didn't really work that way, we decided to order some steaks and beers. The steaks were pretty good even though I have a lot of irrational anxiety that my teeth will become very soft and that chewing a lot on tough foods like meat will cause them to crumble apart. What says Christmas Eve. tradition more than Outback Steakhouse? We have been doing this for years...then followed up by a movie. (Aquaman was better then the first one). Last year my wife had a drink spilled down her back and had to endure the movie with a sticky sweater. The manager was gracious and apologetic. This year we returned. No drinks spilled on anyone. My wife and I had one of the best meals we have had in a long time. The food was great. The stakes were cooked just how we wanted them, the coconut shrimp was fantastic but neither of these were what made the meal over the top. The service we got from the staff was amazing. Our waitress, Danielle N was what will bring us back to the restaurant. She was pleasant, polite, incredibly efficient and on top of all that she just came across as just a really nice person. On 2/22/2022, we visited The Outback restaurant on Wolf Road in Albany, NY. I wanted to pass along of note appreciation and thanks to the server by the name of Michael R. He made our dining experience very pleasurable. Mike was very attentive and made sure we were totally treated with great care. The food was was decent considering it was served by a chain steakhouse. It was a little disappointing that more than several food items were unavailable. It's unconscionable that a chain restaurant would run out of food items, particularly steak at a steakhouse, at around 6:15 PM on a holiday dining night. We don't typically go to a lot of chain steak houses but last Sunday the wife had a hankering for a Bloomin Onion and some (hopefully) tasty beef. Managed to do an online 'call ahead' reservation around 5:10 for a 5:45 seating for 3 adults - pretty surprising for a busy Father's Day holiday. Arrived at exactly 5:45 and were told there would still be about a 15-20min wait - not a major problem, wife and sister-in-law took some seats and I went off to the bar where shockingly there were quite a few open spots. Ordered a 22oz of Coors Light and was pleasantly surprised at the $4.83 cost as too often I've ordered cheap domestic swill at excessively elevated price points above this. Got into a conversation with one of the two bartenders and he was cordial and accommodating and this included meal recommendations based on our conversation. Eventually we were seated at a booth right next to the bar and it was actually the other bartender who would double as our server. Ordered the obligatory Bloomin Onion and snacked on the complementary bread while our drink orders were taken and delivered to us in a flash - always nice. Our orders were promptly taken and I went with the recommendation from the bar and my wife and sister-in-law ordered the same meals however with a different preparation, one 'char-grilled' the other 'seasoned and seared'. Sister-in-law's meal was prepared as expected but my wife's sirloin was somewhat lack luster but she did carve off a few chunks and consumed them. At one of the many check up our bartender/server made, the ladies asked if possibly the plates had been switched since there appeared to be no seasoning and searing. He looked at the steak and immediately said, "oh man, I can already see they didn't prepare your meal correctly, I'm going to get you the correct order to take home, I'll also provide you with your sides again as well". We told him it was unnecessary but he insisted. 10+ minutes later he comes back with a to-go and says we also removed your dinner order from the bill, I'm so sorry. Somewhat shocked but very appreciative, we thanked him thoroughly as his (and the original bartenders) actions the entire visit is what you would expect and hope for when dining out. After paying the reduced bill with a very generous tip I asked to speak with a manager. A young lady soon arrived and we gave the bar team they praise they deserved during that visit. Steak chains aren't really my thing but this specific visit would easily have me seek out another meal there, hopefully to be assisted by these same two professionals. Time of start would be online at 10am when my wife made our reservation for 5:15pm. We arrived at 5pm to be on the safe side even though it was Fathers Day. Sons steak-not cooked right and cold, Wife's steak-cooked okay but ice cold (like it sat outside), mother-in-law-cooked okay (but she doesn't like to complain), father-in-law-cooked good, and then there is mine, cooked okay ish and warm enough to eat. We waited to our waitress came back to tell her how our food was, even though she did ask, and she was happy to oblige. I tried the fillet and crab combo when it ran as a special during the summer, but the crab was the smaller snow crab that was near impossible to cut open with the take out plastic utensils. Not a real problem, though, as the fillet and lobster is my favorite. Curb-side delivery is a plus, especially in the frequent downpours and inclement weather around Albany. Very disappointing. We had eaten here a few years ago and loved it. The calamari were over done to the point that they were rubbery and inedible. The rice in the arancini was undercooked. Our entrees were okay, but took nearly an hour and they were mediocre - nothing like we remembered. The worst thing were the calamari. When the server brought them to us we just stared at them. We were with another couple and didn't want to say anything. You would think that they would've been embarrassed to serve something like that. She said ok and wandered off. About 10 minutes later the manager came to our table, we showed him our steaks and he agreed they were well done. He asked if we wanted new steaks. Our server was awesome and attentive... I believe his name was Mike. He was pleasant, and prompt. I love a good rib-eye steak, ordered medium-rare, but on a regular, I love and need my food hot... which is an oxymoron when it comes to steaks - I realize this lol!! Often, I don't order steak at Outback because they've often gotten it wrong every time... however, tonight, was different. When Mike asked how I wanted my steak cooked, I said, while referring to the cooking chart in the menu, "...can I get it between medium-rare and medium, because I like it hot." ...he said, "...no problem." I was really skeptical, but they did it!! OMG... hands down the best steak I've ever had at Outback and I sooo enjoyed eating it all!! I have an exploratory pallet and Mike also encouraged me to try something different for my side, the Blue Cheese Pecan Chopped Salad. I was concerned when I read Blue Cheese vinaigrette... I started questioning my taste-buds trying to imagine what that would taste like. Well.... it was different, and so awesome!! We also had a few cocktails and went on to have a wonderful night. I have been to this location a handle full of times and it always seems like they have trouble catching up. First of all, it's in a strip mall parking lot. Secondly there is ALWAYS a wait on the weekend. First time we went there my boyfriend's steak was well done and he asked for medium. The manager made up for it though and brought him a new steak and an extra baked potato soup. Last night we went, knowing that there would be a wait, but thankfully found a spot at the bar. The bartenders Sam and Candace were very attentive and nice. My boyfriend's soup came out completely cold and I got a house salad with blue cheese instead of the wedge salad, like I had asked for. We got their attention and they quickly fixed it. The other sucky thing is that my steak came out medium well, not medium like I had asked for but I still ate most of it. I am so impressed! Throughout the covid-19 craziness I have ordered a ton of take out. Most of which has been good but they might forget this or that but it's understandable and I look past it. Outback, however, demonstrated true take out perfection! We ordered outback last night and I was beyond impressed with the service. We ordered delivery-- called around 2pm to place a 6pm order. The delivery came at 6:02! everything still warm and ready to go. Beyond that, the order was perfectly executed. I requested a lot of annoying sides and every single things was taken care of. From extra blue cheese dressings to cheese on my side of fries. No mistakes. We had a fairly large order making the perfection even more impressive. And beyond that-- the food was amazing! We normally order through DoorDash and unfortunately when we received tonight's steak it was very undercooked. Both Texas Roadhouse and Long Horn Steakhouse had long table waits. So we went to Outback Steakhouse. We went in and luckily there was a table read for us. Sweet success!!! I was in a mood for a good steak and that is what I got. A nice porter house with mashed potatoes. A good tender steak cooked medium well. With the right expectations, some luck, and the right choices this restaurant will give you a five star experience. It's a chain that receives most of it's food frozen, as does every other chain (except for Wendy's supposedly). The prices are low, so the staff is not highly compensated and generally covers multiple tables. Some of the people that eat at restaurants are horrible people and make the lives of staff living hell. It's possible that a server is still recovering from their last interaction when talking to you, so based on the low reviews that I've read, people really need to cut them a break. I've been twice to this location in the past month, and find that all of the staff has been absolutely superb. The drinks are quite good, the wife and I love the Ginger Martini. The food is hit or miss. We really enjoyed the grass fed burger topped with the blooming onion. It was from a frozen pattie, but cooked perfectly and juicy.
