Quality is good but it is a small outback. I had been here years ago and was not impressed with the one in Harrisonburg. But I think they have made improvements (actually I think all Outbacks have improved). A nice chain close to hotels and JMU that is clean and you know your going to get a decent meal. The Queensland Chicken and shrimp pasta barely had any sauce and the chicken was dry. The Chicken on the Barbie was on the Barbie way too long as it was dry as a dessert too! This restaurant definitely needs a review about my dinning experience tonight.  I am visiting my brother in Virginia and brought my dog with me. We went to Outback because they have a small but decent outdoor pet friendly seating area. My brother has had bad luck at Outback but we decided to try it anyways.  Well, the server came out and the bread and drinks arrived very fast. That was about the extent of the positive experience other than the good conversation.   My brother ordered a 12 ounce Ribeye ($21.99) cooked med-well and I ordered a 8 ounce Victoria Filet Mignon ($23.99) cooked medium.  Well, when our steaks arrived it was apparent they were over cooked. My brothers ribeye was 80% charcoal and my filet was closer to well done than medium. The server came out shortly and he agreed the steaks were both not as ordered. He took them back and said he would have new ones cooked and right out to us. The manager came out a few minutes later and apologized and repeated what our server had said. We ate our sides and waited.... When our second set of steaks arrived the manager waited while we cut them open to make sure they were fine. They were very undercooked this time but we didn't want to send them back again. It was clear to us that the cook had tried to use high heat to rush them and that left the inside undercooked. Mine was rare on the inside but the outer edges were cooked enough for me to eat. My brothers ribeye looked good on the outside but was medium on the inside. Also, this second ribeye was about 80% fat and gristle.  The manager came back and noticed half of my uneaten steak was rare and saw the plate full of fat and gristle on my brothers plate. I asked the manager if the cook was new and he said no. Well I told him that my steak was rare but we didn't want them going back to try for a third time. The manager took me bill and said he was going to take the steak off of my tab. I thanked him and thought he would do the same for my brother.  The manager came back out and brought me a new bill with my steak removed and an exact duplicate copy of what my brother already had. We asked about my brothers steak and a discount and the manager said "because you ordered a Ribeye you expect some fat so I'm not going to comp your steak". This was my brothers second steak and it was 80% unedible gristle but he said my brother should expect that.. He did look pleased with himself when he pulled out his wallet and give my brother a free appetizer card for his next visit.   We all left the restaurant shocked that a manager would tell a customer that because you ordered a Ribeye you should expect a plate full of fat and gristle.  Here, have a free appetizer for your wasted, fatty unedible $21.99 steak..   For a steakhouse, I can't believe 4 out of 4 steaks at our table came out wrong..... but at least the bread was delicious! read more

Outback is my choice every time we go out to eat. Today was not up to standards.I always order water because I refuse to pay $3 drink, I'm so glad I did. My glass had 3 spots of stuck on food on the inside. That was gross!!! If my husband and I weren't starving I probably would have left. We ordered chicken tenders and steakhouse Mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese tasted like it had been sitting for a while, tough and cold. I'm gonna think twice before going back anytime soon. read more

This is a good one! I travel a lot for work all over the US and Outback has always been a go to for me. They are consistent and I feel like I can get a great meal at a good price. Today I experienced a hiccup in my togo order but the team there went out of their way and blew my expectations out the door with the way they handled the situation. The best delivered meal we've ever had!!! Ordered our stake 1 degree rarer than we like and put them in the oven in foil when they got here (200 degrees for 10 minutes) while eating appetizers & salad. Perfect steak, fantastic meal!!! read more

On the way to New York we always stop by to have dinner. Service is fine and all but to day we order potato soup looks good taste good not enough cheese we had to ask for it. Compare yo last month visit 90% better in taste and looks good also last visit soup was water down. This time their signature dish blooming onions was not cook when we break to eat raw batter on it. At least better then last time they told us they were out. We felt that we were rushed I was still eating and they brought the check. I felt like complaint to the manager. But my say fogey it. It's a chain restaurant, so the food quality is somewhat expected, but still very good. Our waitress handled a huge party, 15 people in two tables. It was really refreshing to see a happy waitress at a chain restaurant with such a big party (probably because of the tip, but still). All of our drinks were handled in a timely and organized way, and the food came out altogether which is nice when there is such a big party. My only complaint would be the bloomin' onion appetizer. It came about 5 minutes after we ordered it, and it did not look like what we expected. The center cut onions had no crust on them, and were extremely raw, and slightly disfigured. It just wasn't what we were used to at the NY outback' so maybe pass on those for next time. read more

Yeah, it's bad. The ocean called and wants its salt back. But really, it's like the food here is left to drown a slow death in salt, butter and oil on your plate. We ate there last night and were seated right away even though it was very busy. I ordered the Prime Rib which came with a soup or salad, 2 sides with it and a dessert. I was not even half way done with my salad when the entrée came. The prime rib was rare to raw and not medium rare as I requested. The nice server asked how everything was and I told her not good. She offered to take it back but I said that it was okay since I knew they would just throw it on the grill which would just make it tougher that is was. The manager came over and asked about it and I said I was good and he replied he would give me a scoop of ice cream. Danielle, the server, is very good to excellent at meeting her customers needs. I ordered the Rib Eye steak medium rare and it was served perfectly! It was hot and cooked to my specifications! She recommended the baked potato and steamed broccoli. All of her tables were full of smiles. It didn't matter if they were constructions workers or white collar workers, Danielle delivered. Okay, I get it....Covid and every excuse associated with it caused the remodeling to go long.... Went again this past Saturday. Hours on door said opening was at 11:00 am. When the door was still locked I looked up and taped to the window was a sign saying they would open at nooHave tried to eat here for over a year, now we're done trying. This outback is the worst me and my family have ever been to. After a long Christmas day and burnt out on ham and turkey. I was like lets go have a steak. What a mistake that was. Are server was very bad, ordered a tea but got a water, yet still tried to charge us for a tea. Food took forever to come out and was cold. Our drinks sit empty 80% of time. The food took forever to where we almost left, check took another 10 mins. Just a very bad choice over all and a huge let down. Trust me do not go to this outback reviews tell the tail. Walked in at 4:30 pm on a Thursday, it wasn't busy at all, waited 20 minutes no bread no drinks, asked a waiter walking by if they were short staffed and he said no and went to go see who are server was, he came back a min later and said someone would be right w us, waited another 10 min and nothing, walked out and to wood fire buffet, was seated and had drinks and food in 5 minutes for a fraction of the cost. Came in with 5 people after waiting to be seated we ordered 2 appetizers plus bread but never received app plates or napkins even though we were eating crab legs and fried food and had asked for them. Our server was working another section and completely ignored us during the entire visit. I ordered my steak extra well done...it came out bloody in the center. After my whole family had finished our meal im still waiting on the server to check back so i can send back my steak , i finally send someone to track her down. She brings me back the tiniest kabob that is 90% fat/gristle ....im able to pick out only a few bites. Aside from all this our drinks stayed empty the entire meal. Aside from the disgusting kabob that said "sirloin tips" on the menu everything else tasted great. The horrible service and price we payed for it ruined the experience. read more

This is the worst Outback Steakhouse. Every time I go here they cook my steak incorrectly and I have to send it back and wait even more. It's a waist of time and they never get it right. Half of the time my fries are soggy from being thrown under the steak and the wait staff is mediocre. read more
