My BF was in the mood for steak but we didn't want to get dressed up so we said we'd do Longhorne but if the wait was too bad there we'd do Outback as it is literally within sight from Longhorn. As predicted the wait was too long at Longhorn so we moseyed down to Outback. This location is older and you can tell from the parking lot, the exterior and the interior. We were seated right away and our server greeted us within minutes of being seated (she was phenomenal). We ordered 2 of the Gold Coast Rita's, a Bloomin Onion app and I had the 6oz Sirloin with the Alice Springs Chicken combo and my BF had the Porterhouse. The drinks and Bloomin Onion were GREAT! But that's about where the greatness of the food unfortunately stopped. The minute my BF's steak hit the table I knew it wasn't anywhere near cooked to medium and even questioned whether it was cooked at all bc there was no sear and it almost looked grayish while my sirloin looked way overcooked and charred. Needless to say we were right and even cutting into the extremities of the steak we saw it was basically rare. We're not in the business of sending food back so he said he would just cook the steak more and make steak and eggs in the morning. My steak was a little overcooked and never in my life have I ever had to say this at a restaurant, especially a chain one, but the Alice Springs Chicken was overly seasoned ... and I'm a season me up kinda girl. My family and I had a wonderful Valentine's Day dinner at Outback Steakhouse the other day. My daughter LOVES steak and wanted to go to Outback for a "fancy" dinner. Of course, we had to say yes. We made reservations, but got there on the earlier side (5pm on Friday) and there were plenty of tables. But as we were leaving there were a lot of people waiting so we picked a good time to arrive. We were seated right away and our waitress, Athena came over. Let me just give a HUGE shoutout to Athena. She was such a wonderful server. So attentive. Kept our drinks refilled and even gave my kiddos a little treat before we left. Thank you for a wonderful evening Athena! For dinner my daughter ordered the kid's steak. It's great that Outback asks how she would like it cooked. She always goes for medium. Other establishments just cook it well-done and that's a big no no for her. I ordered the filet mignon, medium-rare, with broccoli and rice. OMG, the steak was cooked to perfection. It was so delicious and buttery soft. The rice had a little spice to it and the broccoli was doused in buttery goodness as well. My son had the chicken fingers and my husband had the burger. We were all VERY happy with our meals. And of course we had to order dessert. The kids each had a scoop of ice cream and my husband and I shared the Chocolate Thunder from Down Under, which was decadent and so delicious. The Cesar salad could have used more croutons, thankfully the bread they served had the texture of 100 day old bread. It was nice because it reminded me of Europe and the table bread they serve that is not meant to be eaten. The Cesar was over dressed. The fries were excellent. I have to admit ----- for someone who has visited many chain restaurants, I don't go to many Outback Steakhouses and have probably gone only a handful of times to different ones and this location is probably just like any other location, in terms of menu offerings at least. I'll cut right to the chase and say that the 2 times that I've been to this location, the food was pretty good. I've ordered steak both times and the steak was cooked decently, although a bit off on temperature. We asked for a medium steak and it came medium rare. We asked for medium well (for the kids) and it came medium. Was it surprising that they were off? Not really. I don't expect more because I'm not expecting a Michelin starred steakhouse experience. As they say - it is what it is - especially when you're visiting one of these chain restaurants. With alll of the above said, we did get to try the Bone-in Ribeye with Bourbon Onion and it was absolutely delicious. No steak hits the spot more than a bone-in ribeye with all of the juices from the bone attached right at the hip to the meat. Service was decent the 2 times we were here, although one experience was definitely better than the other. Not sure if we'll be visiting again anytime soon, but if you're craving steak and don't want to spend an arm and 2 legs, then Outback is relatively economically viable these days compared to your traditional steakhouse. read more

I know this is a franchise and I know a lot of people give franchise restaurants a hard time including me. I typically try not to eat at them, especially Applebee's. But this Outback is right next to my gym and sometimes on a Friday when I leave the gym I'm hungry and I want steak. I just so happened to have a gift card to Outback so I figured I'll give it a shot. I came here on a Friday afternoon around 4:00 p.m. and it was about halfway full. Only about three or four people at the bar. I was eating alone so I sat at the bar even though I'm not drinking alcohol at this moment. The bartender quickly gave me the menu and I opted for the bone-in ribeye steak with a double side of vegetable. I'm trying to keep it clean folks. Without exaggeration I would say my steak came out in about 6 minutes. It looked good and I'll tell you it tasted great. The steak was well seasoned, Not too much fat on it, And it was cooked a perfect medium rare. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The vegetables were pretty good, had a nice seasoning on it and possibly were sauteed in butter. I ran through this meal in about 10 minutes. And I was perfectly full at the end. I really have no complaints about my experience. The bartender was very nice and filled up my water every time the glass became empty. If I'm in the mood for a quick inexpensive steak I would definitely return. My meal was about $35. Not bad at all. read more

Every time I come here I'm so excited but when we get our food we are so disappointed. The prices are going up and the portions are disappearing! Last week, I drove my birth mother to an appointment in Ridgewood, and...as she invariably does when I'm helping her with her laundry or some other task like driving to Ridgewood...on the way back, she offered to pick up the tab for lunch, and suggested Outback. Now, in a situation like this, I'm not going to say, "Outback? How about something a little more upscale and expensive?" Obviously, I'm not going to do that, especially with my Madre Biologica. Instead, I responded, "Sure. Whatever." My experience with Outback is limited (as is my knowledge about Australia; once a week, I watch an episode of the old Australian soap opera "Prisoner Cell Block H" on Youtube-- it's my "escape" now that alcohol and drugs are denied to me, and I love it. It's a soap opera, but it has some great actors in it, and I recommend it. I guess it might say more about me than I really want known that my "escape" is a foreign melodrama about a tough women's prison populated by criminal psychopaths and killers, but...well, there you are...anyway...). I remember when Outback first appeared on the scene many years ago, I ate there with my parents on a family vacation in Florida, and I was enthusiastic. That initial enthusiasm didn't translate into regular patronage. Not to suggest that they didn't blossom and bloom all over the place like chain-restaurant weeds (so it wasn't for lack of opportunity), or that I had a negative experience to counteract my initial enthusiastic encounter, but...I guess the Bloomin' Onion never became much of a passion for me. Other "bright, shiny objects" diverted me. Fast forward several decades later... We had trouble finding the place. Traffic on Rt. 17 is always horrendous, and I was becoming increasingly tense as we drove slowly on, trying to distinguish Outback from the million-plus chain restaurants, chain retail stores, strip malls, regular malls, auto malls, furniture stores, nail salons, fortune tellers, warehouses, etc., etc., that infest this particular NJ highway. We passed a Longhorn, and my birth mom said, "We must have passed it." I replied, "Maybe they've gone out of business. Like a lot of the Red Lobster places." And then...voila!...there it was! Innocuously tucked away, non-descript, almost anonymous. So much for an in-your-face presence! Parking spaces in back were plentiful, and we entered the dark interior, securing a seat off to the side by a window. Our server was friendly, and efficient. There's a bar in the middle of the restaurant that seemed to be doing an ok business at that mid-day hour. A few other patrons were present to dine, but the place wasn't exactly packed. My birth mom ordered a glass of wine and I settled for a Coke. Whenever someone picks up the tab for me (either Mom or my oldest friend), because I was raised right, I don't order the most expensive thing on the menu. In this case, I went for 1 of the "specials." A 6-ounce steak, and a side of Mac'n'cheese topped with lobster meat. To me, speaking as someone who is decidedly NOT a steak connoisseur (although I can tell the difference between Kobe steak and Steak-ums), it sounded like it could be expensive, but the price listed on the menu was pretty reasonable. Mom ordered a larger steak with mashed potatoes. The steak I received wasn't tough (not too long ago, I had a steak at a Cracker Barrel and it was largely inedible), but it lasted for all of 4 or 5 bites. The mac'n'cheese wasn't especially hot and was gluey and tasteless, lobster fragments notwithstanding. I finished it, and I guess it must have been more filling than I realized, as I had no desire for dessert. I should mention that we both ordered the French Onion soup before the main meal; it was piping hot, and we both liked it. Later, my oldest friend called to see how my birth Mom's appointment had gone, and when I told him where we ate, he exclaimed, "Outback! That chain is awful! The only thing worth having there is the Bloomin' Onion!" I'm not inclined to describe the dining experience as "awful." If you go in knowing what to expect, and are satisfied with that, I guess you can have what will qualify as a "decent meal." It's not prohibitively expensive (especially when someone else picks up the tab!) and I didn't leave feeling hungry. But I don't see myself returning any time soon. Not unless Mom suggests it. read more

Very upsetting experience here at Outback Steakhouse. I brought my wife here for Mother's Day to only get served hot wings with water spilled all over them. When manager took wings back he told me he would bring new ones out but to only bring out the same wings in 10min. He didn't know I marked the plate with the buffalo sauce. Same plate, same wings came back to the table. I then told the manager I do not want the wings and he told me "you're going to eat them or get out". It's a busy on the weekends but you can get on the waiting list with the app and arrive at your time and be seated pretty close to arrival. The food is chain food so it isn't anything to write home about but it is still done well and it comes out fairly quickly even during the busy times. Thought we would give Outback another chance. We were disappointed with our meals. The potato soup was gummy. My baked potato that came with my chicken fingers was not hot.My husband's mashed potatoes were a tasteless clump. They need to put the dinners on larger plates also. The scent that is being pumped into to the restaurant needs to be toned down, it is so overwhelming. Our server was a lovely girl and could not be any more pleasant. Extremely disappointed and outback we came for the memorial day weekend sale for military families that they offer an extra 20% off. They had it on the website posted and it said all stores are participating when we arrived.
