Nice dinner with friends to kick off the New Year. Our server, Emily, was very attentive and provided us with some great recommendations for appetizers and dinner. Drinks were festive - I had a holiday version of an Old Fashioned - good! The ladies had cranberry cocktails of some sort - they were happy. I always love the 500 degree plate at this steakhouse. I ate at Ruth's Chris with my girlfriend at 6:30 on a weekday. The place is big and there were plenty of tables. The ambiance is definitely on the intimate side with dim lighting. Service was fast and friendly. We ordered two appetizers, the crabmeat stuffed mushrooms and the veal osso buco ravioli. I wasn't too wowed by either of them. They were good, but I'm not sure if they were good enough to justify their prices. On a return visit I'd probably try some other appetizers. My girlfriend and I split the Cowboy Ribeye which is 26 oz. We like our steak medium rare so I kind of like that it's served on a 500-degree plate to keep it warm without cooking it too much. I wonder if ordering rare would be a better choice. The steak is also served in sizzling butter so of course it tastes good. I took some of the steak butter and put it on the garlic mashed potatoes that we ordered on the side. All-in-all, Ruth's Chris was a good experience. It's pricey, but what isn't nowadays? Ruth's Chris' claim to flame is that steaks come to your table sizzling due to the obscene amount of butter that the slab is broiled in. The food itself was fine but considering the price, the steak was the only thing that sizzled. The service was perfunctory and slow allowing us time to consider an overly loud dining room that was more reminiscent of RC's corporate cousin, Olive Garden, than the muted decibels guests usually experiences when your paying enough to claim your meal as a dependent on your taxes. Ahi tuna appetizer, solid, not exceptional. Filet, cooked rare, excellent. Could have a better crust. Extraordinarily tender. This is the way to order it, any other way is wrong. Sorry if you do order any other way, you were probably dropped as a baby but it is what it is. Filet, cooked medium rare. Larger gray bands around pink middle, good, but rare is the way to go. The $55 happy hour 3 course special is the way to go. The cheesecake that came at the end of the special was good, not great. Stopped in for a bite to eat tonight after some shopping at Bergen Town Center! Found a seat at the bar and ordered the Prisoner Sour to drink - Makers Mark with a red wine floater and lime. I'm not a big whiskey drinker but did enjoy this combo! For food, I had the lettuce wedge salad & crabmeat stuffed mushrooms. The salad was excellent but think the mushrooms should've been cooked longer. I was so hungry tonight I didn't get any pics! I've been to this location a few times. I can't say enough great things about our recent experience friday. We came to celebrate my husbands birthday and the return from his military deployment. Everyone we encountered from the staff and service to the ambiance and food were nothing short of awesome. My husband got the Tomahawk Ribeye which he has been talking about since he got it in 2023. He dogged it in 10 minutes - my mom and I got the Ruth's Chris classic filet mignon and shrimp with two sides and Caesar salads. And then we each had a cheesecake. The steaks were cooked perfectly, nothing was sent back. Our server Falgun was the nicest guy - very funny and personable and we felt like we were talking to a friend. He went above and beyond for us. When he heard about my husbands birthday and recent deployment he went and told his manager to ask if he could do something for him and the manager Jeniffer came over to our table to meet him. Jeniffer comes from a military family - so we had that in common. And she offered us 25% off the bill as a way of honoring my husbands service. To say that we left there feeling seen (and that was not our goal - we never ask for discounts) and overall felt like we had gained family and friends would be an understatement. Very inconsistent. The food was amazing as usual but I wish I could say the same for the service. We sat at the bar and at first the service was amazing! Very friendly and attentive bartenders. But...... my husband ordered the price fixed meal which recently rose is price (not worth it). I ordered a salad and a side dish and we got an appetizer to share. We asked for both salads to come out together which they did. But then before finishing our salads - our appetizer AND everything else was just dumped off. There wasn't even room for all the food and we weren't even done with our salads. We felt very rushed. Then it took forever and a day to get their attention to ask for the check. Once we received it - I couldn't get them back to take the card. There was even one point when they were standing right next to us and not only did I politely say: "Excuse me" but I held up my check with my card and I was still ignored. What happened to Ruth Chris. There's so much to unpack. Soda was flat server said the line was frozen.?? What!! Food came out cold. They took everything back to start over. Obviously now we had to wait all over again. 2nd time was not any better. Steaks were cold again. Come on guys you can't put a cold steak on a hot plate and think the steak would be hot. We had ordered a 2nd bottle of wine but it was plainly obvious no one was coming back to table. They came with the bottle right before the 2nd food came. At this time we just wanted to leave. I came here a few months back for their happy hour and really enjoyed it. I had to go to the mall so I checked on their site what our time hh ended and it said 7 PM. I had to take a small table the last time because the bar was completely full but this time I took a seat at the bar which was quite uncomfortable with the back of the chair rounded and a foot bar making it difficult to pull it up so I had to hunch over. I made it at 6:30 and asked for the hh menu but she said it was over. I told her the website said 7 and that I came just for that so the manager came over and said he would honor the prices. I ordered the old-fashioned which was quite good and decided on their cheeseburger. I ordered it medium however it was medium well, close to well however it tasted fine. The construction of the burger in the bun was not done well and falling apart as I ate it. Sad to say that the fries were the best part. Definitely not worth the price, even discounted and more over I was really bothered by the fact that the seats next to me were left dirty and unattended the entire time I was there. read more

We went to the Paramus / Maywood location for my daughter's birthday. The girls each got a petite filet, while I got a nice piece of Sea Bass and a bowl of lobster bisque. If I'm being honest here, the bisque was not my favorite. Perhaps there was too much alcohol in it for my taste. I'm not sure what the underlying flavor was. The Sea Bass, however, was much better, and the girls steaks were delicious and cooked to perfection. Duke, our server, was exemplary and gave my daughter a creme brûlée for her birthday. The restaurant was prepared for our large party's reservation, and had us seated in more private location of the restaurant. The restaurant oozes class in both its decor, as well as its service. We were running a little late but we did responded and let them know that we are on our way. Upon arrival, the hostess treated us with an attitude, she said that we were late and not sure if they will have a table for us. Asked us to wait aside. Then, she came back grabbed the menus and stand In front of us looking at us signaling she got us a table without a smile walk us to the table. We had the medium rare cowboy steak and NY strips and they were great cuts and nicely done. The sizzling crab cakes and the old fashion were underwhelming. There were so many options to choose from, but we've a had a filet, baked potato and spinach. Everything came out piping hot and delicious. I barely needed a knife to cut the steak, it was like butter. We finished our meal with cheesecake and an espresso. Again, outstanding and very satisfying. Service - 5 stars!! Our server was very attentive and made us feel like family. Even the manager stopped by our table, which was a beautiful touch. This place really goes above and beyond. Saturday night visit went well. We had reservations and were seated about 5 minutes after having arrived. I ordered a lemonade and water to start. The server brought out bread and butter for the table. He then brought us our drinks and took our orders. My lemonade was tart and I loved it. It tasted freshly squeezed. For my entre I ordered the stuffed chicken and sides of garlic mashed potatoes and creamed spinach. The chicken was very good. I love the cream sauce they stuff the chicken with. The garlic mash was a little hard. They may have made it first and left it out while the chicken was cooking. When we got our food the chicken was piping hot but the sides were room temperature. I ordered a second lemonade and they brought it in a regular glass cup. This time the lemonade tasted like it came from a soda fountain. It was not like the first lemonade they brought out. A bit disappointing. For dessert, we ordered the cheesecake which has what seems to be yogurt on top. It was good. Was so excited to finally get to try this restaurant with hubby. We made a reservation and the hostess asked if we had a preference of seating? I told her somewhere secluded where there isn't that many ppl, she seats us at a booth by the bar (lots of ppl). I didn't want to make a big deal and dealt with it. We started with some yummy drinks. I had the dirty Martini and hubby had the pomegranate martini. Both delicious. For Apps we opted for crab stuffed mushrooms, delicious. And the calamari, also so good. At this point I ask for a wine and hubby for a coke. I receive my wine but hubby waits patiently for his coke and he never received it. For dinner we opted to have the porterhouse for two. We asked for it medium. The minute it came out they gave us two really hot 500 degree plates with butter. This actually ended up cooking our steak to well done which we didn't like. When our waiter came by immediately after the other waiter placed the porterhouse down, we asked him for some a1. Waiter never brought it to us. Mind you he was at the bar talking up a storm to coworker and bar patrons, and we see this because we were seated at a booth by the bar. There was another waiter that was helping our main waiter and he packed our food up. Since our waiter wasn't really paying us any mind we asked the helping waiter for the dessert menu. We decided on two desserts, but unfortunately we never ordered it because our waiter was too busy as the bar and we got tired of waiting for him to come over to us. Our waiter went through the menu with us. We started with the goat cheese and artichoke dip and seared ahi tuna. Both were so good. I loved the dip and the bread that comes with it. I also had the rocks rita. Nice drink. Mixed well. After we decided to get an entree. We had the special that was a soup or salad, essentially a surf (shrimp) and turf, a side and a dessert. I Caesar salad was good. I am allergic to shellfish so I'm not sure how the shrimp part tasted. But my friend said it was really good! (I gave her mine and she gave me her dessert to go home). The creamed spinach and petit filet were ok. I wish it just had more seasoning. The little cheesecake dessert it came up was good too. I would definitely go back for the happy hour. I had a company meeting here recently . The food was delicious it is pretty much what you would expect from a higher end steak place . They have a wide assortment of cocktails/ wine . Drinks are very good and the steak is delicious , the only issue I had was that the service was very slow it took them a while to come out but that may have been due to the fact that our meeting was large !
