we are just leaving there. we got there at 1225 pm was seated at 1230 nobody came to take our order. as I looked around people that came in after us was getting their drinks/order taken. I asked the hostess how much longer and she said someone is coming. no one came so we got up the hostess just looked didnt say anything. we come here often and never had this to happen. 6/4/2021 - The takeout staff is gaining a horrible reputation fast. There does not seem to be any oversight of the takeout staff, so basically it's kids doing a shoddy job and not caring about service or taking pride in their work. They will do things to your food if they feel you have too many request, they will leave off side dishes you ordered, forget to give you the proper condiments and serve you food that's been sitting out. Not sure why the management doesn't provide oversight, except that the manager appears to be a very young person also and perhaps not experienced enough in the job. Either way, fair warning that ordering take out here is playing Russian roulette with your food. Very disappointin. read more

Passing through on way to a funeral and stopped in for dinner. The whole order was wrong but they literally went out of their way and bent over backwards to make it right and make sure we were happy. Not everyone is perfect and mistakes happen, its how you handle them when you do and they stepped up. Brad the kitchen manager personally came to apologize and made it right. One of my first dinners out here in Rocky Mount was at Outback Steakhouse and like most places in the Rocky Mount area it was a bad experience. First off the service was slow getting to the table to start. I ordered the wedge salad which was good and my entree was the signature bone-in ribeye. I asked for "Pittsburgh Style" and of course they didn't know what I was talking about so I just ordered rare. The steak came out just warm and went to cold quickly, I would have sent it back if I was not starving. Friends came later and ordered a blooming onion and of course it too three tries before they could cook it right and it still was over cooked. I dont usually go to Outback but this was an extraordinary bad experience. read more

A truly wonderful experience last night for dinner. I took the wife and kids out, and everyone really enjoyed their time there. It was pretty busy however we didn't wait but about 5-10 minutes. Ended up sitting in the lounge area, and never had a waitress walk by that didn't at least speak, or ask how is everything. Everyone's food was delightful and prompt. Friends and I decided to stop several hours into our road trip heading home to Florida. A gf needed to take a work call and we were a little hungry. I noticed when Outback popped up in google maps the reviews were scathing! Wondering if Outback had gone downhill since the last time we visited, our curiosity got the best of us and we decided to judge for ourselves. We sat at the bar with Danielle, very pleasant bartender, quick happy service! I have a gluten allergy - Outback now has a separate menu showing all Gluten allergy friendly options. My friend ordered the lunch sirloin - I chose the lunch Alice spring chicken and a salad - my other friend a loaded baked potato. Everything was prepared timely, everything very on par with the Outback you expect .... Honestly it was better than I expected. I love love LOVE Outback but, this location is so hit or miss. I literally place the exact same order every time and it's never the same! Tonight my medium-rare steak was cooked well, ordered my house salad without tomatoes and cucumber- came with both but no red onion, and when I asked for extra EXTRA ranch, I received one additional saucer. Had to wait long time at hostess stand before anyone spoke to me. I was there so long that I picked up a menu and almost had it memorized before the first person asked if I was being waited on. 1 star is really more than I think they deserve, but zero isn't an option. We went to the Outback near our hotel in Rocky Mount since it was easy walking distance. We went in and were told there would be a 30 - 45 minute wait. There were open seats at the bar so we asked if the bar was open seating and were told it was included in the wait list. Okay, we went outside and waited. 35 minutes later we got our call and headed in. 2 guys walked in right in front of us. They got the 45 minute wait time speech, but asked about the 2 open seats at the bar (the same seats that had been open when we asked earlier). The hostess told them to go ahead and take them. When we asked why they could walk right in and take open seats at the bar but we couldn't, her only answer was it didn't matter now since she had a table for us. Our annoyance was obvious so she sent the manager to see us. The manager denied that anybody could walk in and get seats immediately since the wait time had been long all evening, the clear evidence to the contrary not withstanding. read more

There was a short wait to get in on a Tuesday night which was surprising to us, but once we were in we were sat at the bar and were well taken care of. The Fosters was ice cold, my wife greatly enjoyed her wallaby darned. The Alice Springs chicken was a touch dry on the thinnest part of the breast but fine in at the thickest and having worked for the USDA Food Safety Inspection Service, I'd rather have well cooked chicken than underdone. I asked for a filet mignon, but I was given what looked to be a sirloin. I was told to ask for the thicker cut next time. I thought everyone knew a filet mignon was thick. I never seen another type. This was such a sad and disappointing experience. After my family and I traveled for 10 hours from Florida on our way home to New Hampshire, we wanted nothing more than a hot meal of real food, and a good nights rest. We looked at what was in the area, and landed on Outback, knowing they deliver quality food. We opted for Curb Side Take-Away so we could take it back to our room, get comfy, and eat our hot meal. The first thing we noticed was the loaded mashed potatoes my husband ordered with his $26.00 ribeye meal was missing. We proceeded to call the restaurant, and they were willing to bring them to our hotel with a free appetizer or dessert, or bring a gift card to compensate, but we were hungry and tired and simply wanted to eat what we had and inform them to make sure they're including all items people are ordering. After I got off the phone, I start to eat my coconut shrimp, to find this meal that we JUST picked up was cold. Hungry and frustrated, my husband (who is a chef) decided to dig into his ribeye, which he discovered was lukewarm and very undercooked despite the medium-rare order he placed. He could hardly cut through the meat. He placed this undercooked steak with no grill marks in the hotel microwave for 3 minutes, and this photo shows how inedible and undercooked this steak is. Do yourself a favor and stick to the diner that we almost picked instead. read more

Stopped for dinner at about 8:30pm on a Monday night. Sat at the bar, the bartender was friendly & promptly served a cold beer. Ordered NY Strip med rare w blue cheese wedge salad & mashed potatos, w a side of horseradish. The salad & steak were served within 2 minutes of each other. Waitress forgot the horseradish. The big issue was the strip steak was a terrible cut, only about 1/2 inch thick w a lot of fat. Cooked uneven w one end well done, the other nearly raw. I have visited this restaurant several times over the past two weeks. Coworkers have also been here at least twice. The staff is friendly, but the service is slow. I eat at the bar. I wait sometimes 10 to 15 minutes to get another beer. Tonight two gentlemen that sat next to me waited approximately 40 minutes for their food. T h is is typical of what my coworkers experienced in the restaurant. I find it hard to recommend the place for service, but it is within walking distance of several hotels The place isn't bad but I wouldn't go out of my way to get here. I was in the area visiting with Mom and we decided that Outback may be a good choice for dinner. There was no wait for a booth on a Sunday late afternoon. Our server was friendly and very attentive. I went with one of the seafood specials that included 1 lobster tail..2 crab cakes, and grilled scampi shrimp on skewers. The shrimp were very good and seasoned well garlic and diced tomatoes. The crab cakes were ok as well as the lobster tail. I always love their in house made caesar dressing for the salad. The baked potato was cooked well and loaded with toppings. I really can't complain about anything here so I'm not sure what the fuss is about. I did notice that most of the servers were gathered around the host desk at one point, but it really was not busy at the time we were there. So disappointing! It is rare that we go out to dinner but when we do we like a nice meal in a nice atmosphere. I wish we had saved our money and has gone elsewhere, the food was ok. The service was excellent but it was a horrible experience due to the noise level. The place was packed which I don't understand so that in itself was loud enough but they had the music so glad that we could not converse or hear what our waitress said. We told the manager and she did turn down the sound but 5 minutes later it was back up again.
