Good day Mate, it might be a good day for you but it was not for the Schaumburg Outback restaurant recently opened in Schaumburg. Understanding that it was newly opened I chose to dine there in mid afternoon to avoid any lunch time crush. I needn't have bothered--many open seats. BUT only one overworked and under motivated server(OWUMS) trying to provide service to about 6 tables. I ordered sweet tea and the 3 way special--burger, soup and salad. The tea arrived shortly after ordering but the remaining portions were delayed. After about 10-12 minutes the soup and salad arrived. Apparently the soup was the cause of delay in that the kitchen wanted to give it adequate time to cool down. The soup was at best tepid and the salad was predominantly ice berg. About 3 minutes later, the burger arrived. Shortly thereafter the server stopped "how is your meal?" "Well, the soup is cold". She said, "do you want a take home container for the soup?" (Apparently she correctly forecasted that my home microwave was better than her kitchen)and since the burger was hot, I chose the burger. The meat in the burger was mediocre at best. Apparently the game plan here is to cover the tasteless burger with enough "add ons" to conceal its' shortcomings, there was so much "sauce" that the bottom bun quickly disintegrated into a paste like substance necessitating a knife and fork attack.(almost a spoon) I was seated two tables away from the kitchen which meant the server had to travel past my table multiple times. Do not confuse that with good service. My tea glass sat empty for at least 8 passes by the OWUMS with not one question about refills. (Fortunately, I had a partially consumed Pepsi can in my car to quench my thirst after departure. I think the game plan here is rather than hire more and competent servers, just reduce the dining experience and customer count to the level of server staffing. GENIUS! read more

Had a bad experience. After we received our appetizer we waited over 30mins to get our food and every table around got their food before us and we were seated way before. The waiter or manager didn't even come by to apologize for the long wait. read more

8-11-2024 The grilled, mildly seasoned Salmon w/Rice & Broccoli was very average. It could not compare to Longhorn's. Frankly, their menu is conflicting in describing what comes with your meal vs. what is an add-on and the waitress did not know the menu very well herself. The Sirloin and Grilled Chicken were both overly spicey and the Chicken was too dry. The rice was so-so and the Broccoli was plain. The loaf of warm bread was very good. The Manager came by and gave us the side "in question" and he was very personable and tried to please. They may be good if you want to try a Burger; this was our first time there, but we are not interested in going back a 2nd time. read more

It's been awhile since I've been to Outback Steakhouse. I would say at least a decade or so. Not much has changed; the Bloomin' Onion is still unhealthy but freakin delicious, and the steaks are A-OK. Came here on a Thursday night and the place was not that busy. They give ya complimentary chocolate-lookin' bread to whet the appetite and start things off. I ended up ordering the 22oz bone-in ribeye, cooked medium. My friend also got the same, but his medium was definitely cooked a lot better than mine. Somewhat dry, and lacking the juicy marbling and seasoning, the steak was A-OK. The portion was good though. My entree included two sides so I got the chicken tortilla soup, which on a cold Chicago day, was perfect. It had crunchy tortilla strips on top and small tiny chunks of chicken. The sweet potato, as a second side, was good too. Overall, the service was A-OK, the steak was as well, and the experience was A-OK. At the end, it took them quite some time (around 15-minutes) to split our checks and we ended up paying not what we expected, but meh. BATHROOM REVIEW: Located near the togo section of the restaurant, the men's (or blokes as it was labeled) bathroom was decently clean. There are several urinals and stalls. I went here for a Yelp elite event in 2018 and at the time, they gave us a coupon which I used a couple days ago for date night before it expired! Everything we got was pretty delicious - it was our first time trying ribs as well. We didn't know how to cut it so we ended up googling it haha. We were impressed by the quality of the food, drinks, and customer service. Recommend: chicken and ribs on the barbie and chicken tender platter The mashed potatoes as a side were good and the Aussie fries were like any other normal fries but the sauce helped. Been here many times. This review is for my most recent visit. Wife and I sat at a table in the bar area. It was pretty crowded. Our waiter did a fantastic job though! We were never waiting for anything. Wife ordered lobster tails, I had ribs. We both ordered asparagus & sweet & mashed potatoes for sides. We also had their boomerang margarita flight. Everything was good (minus the asparagus, which we both thought was not good. Pick something else). I'll keep my review 5 stars still though, thanks to the service. read more

I haven't been to the Outback Steakhouse for about 10 years and I had a craving for their coconut shrimp so we went. What a disappointment. First, the restaurant wasn't crowded at all. We ordered appetizers and waisted a good 45 minutes only to find they had been delivered to another table. Another half hour went by and we finally got the apps. Shrimp was overloaded with breading but the sauce was great. Another half hour went by and the food finally arrived. Steak was ok but i've never seen such a small sweet potato in my life. I used to love it here but I'll never go back. They have deteriorated. read more

3 stars for the food, one star for the service. My party ordered the twisted rib, Caesar salad, french onion soup, mashed potatoes, french fries, and bone-in ribeye cooked medium. The twisted rib was alright. It was quite soft and not dry. The sauce tasted like your typical tangy BBQ sauce. Nothing special. The Caesar salad was probably my favorite side of the night. The lettuce was really crunchy and the salad was very refreshing. The french onion was inedibly salty and tasted like straight beef broth from a can. My steak was more of a medium well than medium. It was also so salty I couldn't eat it. The mashed potatoes also looked old and were already oxidizing in color by the time we got it. What made the whole experience so much more unpleasant was our service. Our waiter seemed to be purposely ignoring us while going off to be very friendly to a separate table of 2. The service ain't that great this time waited to be seen by host like five minutes. We arrived and were seated after using the mobile app to be placed on the waitlist. We did not receive any silverware or napkins, but were served bread and butter. I asked 3 times for silverware, and each time I was assured I would have it.  I was rushed to order food as well. We received our drinks well after our appetizer arrived and still had no silverware.  The blooming onion we ordered arrived cold and soggy. The sauce even had a film over it because it must have sat for a while before it was served to us. We did not complain and ordered our meals. All the steaks were ordered medium, two 6oz and on 8oz. The two steaks 6oz steaks were cooked perfectly, but the 8oz was cold and very rare. I kindly told the waitress and she said she would fire the three pieces I cut my steak into back up. I politely asked for a new steak, as you can't refire pieces of steak it will be dry and horrible. They came with a new steak and had me cut into it and it was even more rare than the first. At this point everyone in my party had finished their meals so I declined a third try. I received my check and the meal that I didn't even eat because it was never brought correctly was still on my bill. I asked for the manager and she didn't come, so I then asked for the managers card and the server brought it to me. This establishment doesn't care about quality control or customer service. Today was my first time here. I can't say I'm delight. the good thing is that we didn't have to wait to get a table (which is the case with all the other places). I ordered a ribeye and on the advice of my partner spinach as a side which was great. the ribeye was good, but for some reason a shade worse than in a competing restaurant. as for the place, it's not some fancy place, but quite decent. all in all, my overall impression is not for 5 stars but because of the good service they deserve at least 3 read more

This new location is perfect! When I entered, I was greeted by a team of employees and I could feel the electricity in the air. We were seated immediately. The atmosphere is very contemporary. There is upbeat music play in the background and it's not intrusive. The food and wait staff were phenomenal! I ordered the 6 oz sirloin with a lobster tail and a loaded baked potato. Very impressed with the customer service and quality of food. Never went to Outback Steakhouse due to reviews. Today I wanted to give my taste buds something different and I was happy I did. As soon as I walked in I was greeted within 30 seconds and seated. The booth was clean and free of debris. (My disgust is always the trash/utensils underneath the booth). Men's room was sanitized and well kept. My team member waiting on me was Andrea and OOOMG Andrea was polite, smiled and her customer service skills were great. My salad was full of color and croutons were nice and crisp. The bread was warm, 18oz steak prepped just right, medium rare, with my bake potato fully loaded making every bite flavorful. Andrea topped off my water and made sure my Outback experience was a great one. I'm surprised I never tried Outback Steakhouse before. I came here for my first Yelp Elite event on 11/14 and it was great! The food was free so I can't vouch for the prices, and of course our portions were smaller, but let me break it down for you: Bloomin' onion: can taste the onion; not breaded too thick, not too salty. 5/5 Shrimp skewers and crab cake: very flavorful! 5/5 Sirloin steak with mashed potatoes: not dry but could have used an aus jus gravy or other sauce paired with it, mashed potatoes were good! 4/5 Chocolate cake with raspberry sauce: the raspberry added a nice twist! The chocolate wasn't overly sweet; had the right amount of sweetness. 5/5 The beer flight was refreshing. I'm not usually a beer person, but I was that night! My favorite was the second beer brought out and the beer that complemented chocolate cake. That's a duo I have to match more often. Sad I can't remember the names! 5/5 As for the cocktail, unfortunately it mostly like juice 2/5 Overall my experience was really great! Why is it 100 degrees in the restaurant??? I guess if they wanted the restaurant to feel like the Outback, they did a good job because the place was sweltering. Went in on a SAT Afternoon. I no longer frequent chain restaurants but got a gift card for Xmas and decided to give this place another shot for the first time in 15 years... Place wasn't busy at all. Got seated right away. Server was nice but not very attentive. Other people brought our food. My wife had to wave her down to get another drink and she never asked me if I wanted anything else. Food was sub-par. "loaded mashed potatoes" were an upcharged "premium" side but it's like one scoop of mashed potatoes with some diced up pork butter and sour cream. Nothing special at all. Wife and I ordered Ribeye and didn't expect the world but what we received was underwhelming. Steak was tender and cooked to our specified temp but flavor was on the bland side. Lots of tendons that we had to cut through as well. So I'm skeptical that it was truly a Ribeye. Was VERY thin for a Ribeye. Food wasn't very quick to come out either. Tortilla Soup was good but the portion super small. Got the ahi Tuna for an appetizer. Fish was on the dry side and didn't seem super fresh. Bland. Asian slaw was literally shredded lettuce and carrots. PLAIN. NO SAUCE!! ‍ Wife ordered the Salted Caramel cookie that comes in the skillet. Let me just say I was SEVERELY underwhelmed. Cookie was ROCK HARD. Like it had been nuked to hell earlier but surprisingly it was cold when we were eating it. Skillet was stone cold. My wife and I literally had to chisel at it with our spoons to try and eat it. Thankfully the ice cream on top softened it up some, otherwise it would have been inedible. In the end I won't be clamoring to come back anytime soon and pretty much got the type of Sub Par Chain restaurant food that reminds me why I don't frequent these establishments. read more

After attending a Yelp Elite event here last year we hadn't been back. The event was really great and we were looking forward to a great meal. We went very early - about 3:30. There were a few diners around and a few people at the bar. There were plenty of servers. Otherwise, it was quiet. We both ordered burgers. The fries were good - they were not very hot when they arrived but they did taste good. The meat itself in our burgers was a little bland. Kudos that they got the meat temperature right - I know it's hard to do but the medium-rare burger and the medium-well burgers were both prepared properly. Other than the fries, they serve their burgers with lettuce (fresh), onion (fresh), pickles, and tomato (not so fresh). They had a special going on with various surf and turf options. I almost got one, and probably should have. The price was really good. My expectations were high based on our earlier experience and perhaps my comments are jaded as a result. Went to outback on meacham and golf. Ordered a burger it came full of paper. I was so grossed out when I took a bite. The cook never removed the paper from the burger on the front and back. Cooked the burger with the paper. You should see what it looked like. Willard never go there again. Manager came over said I will comp the burger. She should have gave the whole meal for free . She should treated us better than that. Gave us what ever we wanted. My regret is paying the balance of the bill. I should have just walked out. It was so gross looking and tasting. There were around 10 customers and about 20 or 25 employees. Should of known that the visit would turn out bad when they couldn't even get my drink over right, diet coke. We arrived with many tables open and we were told there was a wait; the reason was they didn't have enough servers. It wasn't just us, 2 other groups had the same experience. I am probably naive but there were 2 people greeting us and it seemed odd we could be seated and then accommodated along the way. We did have a visit from the manager and you could tell he cared about our experience; they definitely should figure out an alternative to having people wait when the place is 1/2 empty. Stoped in for lunch today. I was in need of a protein boost (I'm on an aggressive weight loss/fitness plan, go me!) and decided to have the salmon and broc. I was especially pleased with the visual presentation of the crusting. Tasted great and my server Keith was on point. It's always a good day when your server didn't start his or her career one table prior. I only wish I could have tried the new root beer cocktail on the menu but I stayed strong on my food and drink (water) choices, go me again!
