French Onion: a great tasting broth base and love the topper to the soup. Caesar: Good prep to it and good taste. Ribeye Steak: Ok, you see the cook on that steak? Well, that's how you do it! A great scalded outside...but still cooked to a mid-rare internally. That au jus....that was sold darn good tasty stuff! The place has the great feel and look. First a big shout out to George! He warmly greeted me and showed me to my booth/table right away. He even walked by a few minutes later, to see had my server been to my table. He is the kind of manager, any high end restaurant will love! My server Luis was great and took very good care of me. He took my drink & appetizer order and came after to get my dinner order. We were so thrilled with Chicago Prime Italian on Wed. that we had to go to the Steakhouse on Thurs. They aren't far from each other, yet being back on standard time we managed to miss it. From what we read we were dying to meet George the owner who's Greek. Sure enough he was there. We started with a wedge slathered with bleu cheese. We shared a 24 oz. ribeye MR that they sliced for us. We always like a side. Most upscale places are a la carte. Every place makes au gratin potatoes differently, yet these had an unusual taste that put the rest to shame. They are generous with portions all around. Even the same great iced tea as the other place. Jessica G. was our waitress. Someone is always there to clear plates and fill waters. I am so sad writing this as it used to be a top favorite. Where to start? Sat in the bar area, which was lively and fun. Waitress started the service, but one of the two bartenders took over...okay, maybe this is a good thing. Not really, Took forever to get our drink order, and it took forever for the appetizers to appear, (but the drinks were great). Now, to be fair they were also handling a large group of about 20+ people who were dancing and having fun with the entertainment (live singer). When the apps arrived, the saginaki's were so over-cooked, that even with a piping hot plates and flaming Ouzo, the cheese had hardened into tough hockey pucks (no oozing and zero gooey goodness). The worst however, was the oysters Rockefeller (and they should've been sent back...as my gut is screaming hours later in the bathroom). Under the tasty topping, the oysters had a mealy, gritty mouthfeel (no discernible sweetness or suppleness)...not fresh. Small things also took away from the special occasion night, like having to hold the cumbersome plastic menus throughout the appetizer course (irksome), as was the general lack of attention paid to the waters refill, or used plates and glasses inconsistently cleared, etc. Entrees...two steaks, ribeye and filet (perfectly cooked), and two dover soles (okay, but not stellar) and served over a weird medley of grated limp veggies (carrot, zucchini, ?). The accompanying lemon butter caper sauce, while tasty, was separating so badly (both in the servicing dish as well as on the fish) leaving it oily, which was not okay. The béchamel sauce that came with the filet had a metallic/chemically after taste and quickly congealed in its dish too...it wasn't consumed after one wasted bite. Soup (cream of mushroom) and salads were top notch, but the dessert (sold as funnel cake reminiscent) was more a fluffy baklava-ish dough that would've been better with served with more whip cream and raspberries or honey to aid in it's appreciation. Wine and drinks were stellar, but the service lacked and the food wasn't great. As members of their millionaire club, we used to anticipate a great occasion out meal at Chicago Prime...not so much any more. read more

I fully understand that mistakes happen, and I was told the reservation mix-up was due to a human error with the hostess. My concern was not the delay itself, but how the situation was handled. After arriving early for what I believed was a 6:00 PM reservation, our group waited about 45 minutes to be seated. When I asked if the restaurant might consider a small gesture, such as a round of drinks, it was only meant as a suggestion-not a demand. This was a fantastic dining experience. A friend of mine is part of their "Millionaire's Club", where they match what you put on your card. I think it starts at $50/month, which means $100/month ends up on your card. It rolls over when you don't use it, so he had about $400 on the card when the four of us went. The restaurant is beautiful and classic. They have lounge singers that come on certain nights but we didn't get a chance to see a performance when we were there. I would definitely come back to sip a cocktail in the bar area, order some appetizers, and see live music. This place has the right vibe for that. As far as food, we sampled a decent amount of the menu. We started with octopus, Blue Point raw oysters, and oysters Rockefeller. All of the appetizers were delicious, especially the grilled octopus, which had just the right amount of char and a tasty sauce. For dinner, we had prime rib, steak and cake (filet mignon w/crab cake), and a rib dinner with garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus as side items. Everything was perfectly done. The au poivre sauce I added to the filet mignon was delicious and well balanced. The crab cake was crisp on the outside and mainly crab meat rather than bread, which was impressive. The mushroom soup was full of fresh mushrooms and well executed. The garlic mashed potatoes had roasted cloves in them. I don't even like mashed potatoes, and seriously, they were good. For dessert, we had cherries jubilee, which comes on fire (brandy, is the alcohol they use, I believe). It's a fun dessert for the table. The ice cream, sauce, and cherries satisfy a sweets craving without being over the top sugary. For drinks, the table ordered beer, red wine (zinfindel), and Manhattans. Drinks were good, I really enjoyed the wine with the meal. Unfortunately, a lot of their wines are sold by the bottle, so it will limit your selection if you're the only one at the table drinking wine, like I was. I came here with a group of people who eat out quite often (especially on business trips). We don't have unrealistic expectations or requirements. Just asking for good food and reasonably good service. This was neither. The food was all over the place. Some of the apps were really good while others were just decent at best. The steaks were a mix of results also. One was WAY overdone while another was slightly under done. I ordered the salmon asking for it medium to medium rare. It was almost well done. They replaced the overdone steak but it took quite a long time to come out so everyone else was finished eating when it arrived. Our server was absolutely bizarre. He was asking us personal questions and then when he found out about our business, he started showing us pictures on his phone of related items and asking us lots of questions. In the meantime, he forgot certain parts of orders, tried to convince us that everything was correct and was just generally odd. At the end of the meal, the manager offered us (or possibly just the one person with the problem steak) free dessert but by then, we just wanted out of there. We go to the area at least once a year but I highly doubt that we'll be returning to this place. read more

Was my first time at Chicago prime. The ambience and the live music made the experience even better. Food and service was great!

We made reservations a month in advance for 7 PM on New Year's Eve. Our party of 10 people arrived by 7 PM. We were not seated until 810. We understand it was New Year's Eve but the reason they said that we couldn't be seated was because there was another party of 10 ahead of us that would not vacate the table. Apparently they had no other 10 seat table available in the restaurant. The hostesses were rude. Our server was nice. They had no oysters available on the menu and didn't have the two desserts that we wanted. You would think after making us wait an hour and 10 minutes, they would comp something. The manager came to the table later in the evening and apologized for the wait but said nothing further. read more

Just for that I would recommend you visit this holiday season. Our server was very nice and the other staff (buss man,and food runners were so friendly, There was a retired seater. Who is charming,and full of fun stories. Now the Menu is full of all tasteful goodies. Including a nice cocktail menu. Our service was steady. And give us time to catch up with our friends. I had the special soup. Chicken and rice. Very good. I could have eaten a second cup. I love lamb chops. So that's what I chose. The chops were a rack of lamb cut into small chops. 5 I believe. I order them Med Rare. Sadly they were cooked closer to medium. Two of us ordered the garlic mash. The mash was just warm. Now normally I would say something. But I knew I wanted to take my food home. So I left it alone. I will always give a restaurant a second chance. But this restaurant is high end. Hub-hub and I were seeking a nice place for a post-Thanksgiving meal - Morton's has always been a go-to for us back in Cali, but we wanted to try something a bit more - you know- local. Chicago Prime Steakhouse is family owned and seemed a classy joint - so away we went! We made a reservation earlier in the day, and when we arrived we were instantly seated in the middle of their beautiful dining area. Service was absolutely prompt, and the ambiance was - shall we say? Sublime. We started with the Colossal Shrimp Cocktail - which was beyond words. Magnifico! Crisp. HUGE. The sauce with horseradish- perfection. I had the Steak Diane, which (as anyone who's been to the Peppermill in Reno can attest) is a hard one to match. Chicago Prime came the closest yet- 8oz/225 g of two delicious filets cooked medium well (perfection for the author). Hubby had the Filet Trio - 3 4 oz/113g filet medallions - absolutely amazing. We looked at each other and said -without a doubt- we'll be back! To top it off, the manager offered us a free drink in the bar as we were about to leave (we had to pass as we'd already had our glass of wine at dinner) - what a nice touch - to welcome us to Chicago! First off, the staff was friendly and our server, Natalie, was excellent. My wife and I ordered a specialty cocktail which was done to near perfection. As an appetizer we ordered escargots, which were prepared perfectly, in the traditional manner. For a main course my wife ordered Filet Au Poivre (peppercorn steak), and I ordered their Steak Diane. This is where, in my opinion, the restaurant fell short. On the plus side, the filets were both prepared medium rare, as ordered. They were also very tender and tasty. On the negative side, they took major shortcuts in the preparation, which was rather disappointing. Steak Au Poivre should be a filet with a seared peppercorn-crust, finished with a rich pan sauce, consisting of butter, shallots, Cognac, and cream. What was served instead, was a filet covered with peppercorn gravy. Likewise, the steak Diane, which is very similar to Steak Au Poivre, with the addition of mushrooms, less the crushed peppercorns, used the same, rather uninspired gravy. Simply swapping mushrooms for peppercorns. In both cases, the steaks bore little resemblance to the actual, traditional preparations. This is something I'd expect from a mid-level, family style restaurant, rather than a high-end restaurant, charging high end prices. Especially one that has "Steakhouse" in its name. In my opinion, this is a major fail. All in all, not a bad experience, but disappointing and I think overpriced. With so many options, I'm not sure I'd go back. read more

Overall, very pleased with the experience. - fair pricing for a high end steakhouse - server was very attentive and helpful, I don't think my glass of water/Diet Coke was empty until the very end where I said no thank you - sautéed calamari was fantastic, I normally just default to fried and breaded. But the white sauce it was cooked with was great - shrimp cocktails were actually large shrimp, appreciated that - sizes are shareable, mash was a little too soft for my liking, mushrooms were good, and lobster Mac was good - steaks were the only thing disappointing during our dinner, though they were accurately sized, they were just not as flavorful as I would like. Our tables had filets, bone-in ribeye, and a cowboy cut. I think they sous vide prior to grilling. I prefer all grilling, but I understand that every establishment has their own practice. The service from Marc was awesome! He had a good attitude, sense of humor and was very attentive to our table. The menu is good old fashioned steakhouse with some surprises like saganaki. I like the mix of offerings like French escargot to the Greek saganaki as well as the American mashed potatoes. While the prime rib came out overly done bc i asked for medium rare, they replaced it with a cowboy ribeye that was more medium. I am glad they did something at all to rectify. There are quite a bit of steakhouses within an 8 miles radius of my home and this is a strong contender for me to return. Some details to note: great that Marc has the stainless steel table cleaner in between courses. They paid attention to the reservation noting it was a birthday. Restrooms are very clean. Overdue review! After pizza the night before, we decided to try this steakhouse. This is one of the best places to go if your trip brings you here. It's a cozy steakhouse with a touch of smiley! Alexandra, the host, kept the place warm all night, and working alongside her was a manager or somebody who greeted patrons. We came here with a friend. We had a waitress named Sheila, and she's lovely! She kept her professional poised at all times. We had stuffed mushroom caps, shrimp cocktail, and escargot for appetizers. Yummy! Excellent choice for all three appetizers! I loved their escargot! We decided to share a tomahawk because I'm not a huge steak eater, but I love trying different ways the steakhouses make it so that I could compare the marination and the sauce. Tomahawk was amazing. It didn't disappoint me, honestly! We had it with two types of vegetables, French green beans, and sautéed spinach. Everything that this place served that night was excellent! Rarely does one enjoy a culinary experience like the one we enjoyed last evening at Chicago Prime. Our party of four from Connecticut and Nevada seeing long lost family for the first time in a long time. The minor seating glitch where the hostess mistakenly placed our party of four and our family members, who we hadn't seen in 25 years at separate tables in the same dining room. My wife's cousin finally had the sense to go on a search mission and actually recognized me after a couple decades and some serious aging on my part. It was a real hoot as we laughed about being in the same restaurant but at different tables. Appetizers were soon order and it was then I realized this wasn't your normal Midwest steakhouse. The shrimp cocktail was particularly fresh and popped when bitten into. A common food that was uncommonly delicious. There was also French Onion soup and calamari for my 5 year old grandson. He devoured that dish with great enthusiasm. Entrees were soon to follow. Quickly and efficiently brought to our table by a top notch waitress who somehow managed to keep all drinks topped off with never having to ask or beg. A rare occurrence if you're thirsty while eating and there is never anyone to help. From rare serloin to phenomenal 10 ounce filets, everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves. Imagine seeing loved ones for the first time in years and being treated like kings at the same time. Particularly impressed by the owner a wonderful gentleman who knows how to work a room. A guy who took a genuine interest in your opinion, and who made sure everyone was perfectly satisfied with their meal. This was one of those special nights. One of reunion and the evening our our lives. I can't imagine how lucky I'll have to be to top this one. A rare occurrence during times of poor service and seemingly disinterest in pleading the customer. Yes it's expensive, but worth every penny. Go to Chicago Prime to see for yourself. The only reason it's 4 stars and not 5 is because we were interrupted by a server who was yelling at a bus boy. Went here with the wife on a Saturday night date night. We were not disappointed! We started at the bar actually- friendly bartenders and they have prompt service. Also, the bartenders were surprisingly knowledgeable on the menu and provided their own recommendations which was nice. We were seated promptly at the time of our reservation and a waiter approached almost immediately after someone came and filled water glasses. The service was excellent and the food was excellent! Wife got the side salad, smaller filet mignon and side of asparagus- she reported it was really great! I got the wedge salad, Cowboy ribeye and side of mashed potatoes. Also excellent. One of my favorite dinners I've ever had. The food was all delicious. Our appetizers, sides, mains and desserts were all great. But the best part of the night was absolutely our server Emma - the spicy Greek lady. She made our dinner there very memorable and we had a great time talking and laughing with her. She is the main reason I'm writing this review. The food DOES deserve praise, it was also delicious. I loved the bone-in filet which paired well with a 2020 Caymus. The ambiance is nice and classic.
