I've never been the biggest fan of Outback, so I thought I'd give it another try. The restaurant looked like it had been through a remodel so the ambiance was nice. The server was also nice and was attentive to the table. I ordered their Cobb Salad and a side of Mac and Cheese. The Mac and Cheese was really good I would definitely recommend trying. However, the Cobb Salad was not good. Firstly the presentation was terrible and looked like they used a bag of salad from Fry's and dumped it in the bowl. I honestly could have made the same thing at home. I also didn't realize until I had already left that they forgot to put egg on the salad. Coming from the service industry I know it shouldn't be hard to mess up a salad at a "steakhouse", so I'm definitely disappointed. I would say if you are to eat at Outback DO NOT order a salad, they look and taste like something you can make yourself. read more

Today we dined in for lunch, Brandon was our server. If that was his name it could be frank or Bob or jim, any of which are acceptable. I would have to say that his service was bar none top notch, some of the best service I've ever had. This guy deserves a raise or promotion, he maybe the only reason I return. Food on the other hand was not super stellar. I ordered a burger during lunch, with cheese, that was so over cooked it was almost unpalatable. Not only was my burger dry and bland it arrived without cheese slathered in mustard, all of which would be fine if the burger was cooked to order and somewhat juicy. everything else at the table seemed acceptable including the soup, salad and other meals, sadly the burger was my only letdown. I'm so excited that outback has started serving lunch however coming in on my lunch hour to A 15 minute wait isn't what I expected. We were told at the door that they were short on servers which was the reason for our wait. The restaurant was clean the servers were friendly I will definitely give them another try but I won't be trying another hamburger from the outback in Tempe a.k.a. cheeseburger.. I haven't been in Outback for a couple of months, typically i enjoy it. My service was not great and was not impressed with the Lack of choices on their NEW MENU, they had inflated prices , smaller portion sizes and, the parking lot was pretty empty. We had to pick through the menu to find something to eat this time - normally too many choices to choose from - not this time... This was during weekend prime dinner time and the place was quite empty.. (i understand why it was empty) There was also a large table that was never cleared during our dinner, so we had that "lovely" view during our entire dining experiences.. they started clearing the table after we received our check, Considering the Governor's recent Executive order stopped the mask mandate and also stopped cities from enacting their own mandates, this restaurant decided to "blame Tempe on their mask mandate" and said they were Following Tempe's mask mandate - after the governor specifically stated that "Cities could not issue any orders that conflicted with his order". I understand the business can have their own mask mandate, but take responsibility and own that "Outback Tempe wants the mandate" - stop blaming a city that was specifically instructed by our Governor not to create their own mask mandate. BTW, the state legislature just passed a LAW stating exactly what our Governor Ducey just stated in his proclamation . Outback has recently seen some changes to their menu but one thing that has not changed is the smell of the outside of this restaurant. Ever since high school, walking up to this restaurant it smells putrid. I don't know if it is one of the restaurants beside them that is the problem but I suggest that you park as close to the entrance as humanly possible in order to avoid the smell of the outside of the building. I prefer Texas Roadhouse to Outback but unfortunately some other members of my family prefer Outback so we take turns picking. read more

WARNING!!! NOT ALLERGY FRIENDLY!!! I explained to my waiter how severe my allergy was to tomatoes. Even every item I ordered an item I specifically stated no tomatoes due to my allergy. I asked for things stating only if the ingrediants state no tomatoes, if you can read the ranch and the marinade for me. First person who brought out my salad had it covered in tomatoes. Talked to her about how there must have been a mistake and that I am highly allergic to tomatoes. She apologize and blamed it on some back person and told me it was on my ticket and there shouldn't have been this mistake. Ordered curbside takeout. After waiting for 20 minutes after they said our food would be done, got halfway home and discovered that they forgot a part of our order. They seemed to be understaffed. My wife and I have been going to Outback for years, love the food. Service is pretty good, prices are competitive, general highly satisfied. Took my wife out to dinner tonight, Tuesday, the 13th, and saw a very nasty unprofessional habit develop at this location. I've spent over 3 decades in the restaurant Bizz, all capacities, from management to a prep cook. I saw my server refill my ice tea every time with their fingers 1/2- 1/8th of an inch away from the rim of my glass. that is terrible. Who trained these people? Harsh? No harsh is licking in essence every glass they've come in contact with,since the last time they washed their hands, if I decided to drink from the glass without a straw. Now I even believe the health codes prohibit this practice. I might be wrong but I'm 99% sure they do. Neither I, nor my teams practice this lack of etiquette. I have never wrote a Yelp review, frankly don't like Yelp, for many reasons. The only reason I'm doing this is because of the response I got from the server. I explained nicely, that it might be a good idea not to have your hands on the rim when serving. I explained I had 3 decades in the hospitality industry, ( restaurants) and isn't a healthy practice. The response, " I've been here for 3 years". and got a little upset, and nasty. So this has gone on for a long time unchecked, gross. Other than that she was ok, refilled our ice tea pretty promptly. Never saw the manager, till we were leaving, never stopped by. We love Outback but wont be returning any time soon, especially during flu season. We went here on a Wednesday evening and Monica was our waitress, she did a phenomenal job and was the best part of our whole dining experience! We ordered the surf and turf and the steak was poor quality. It took a couple minutes to chew each bite and had a lot of grizzle. The steak itself was 1 star but the coconut shrimp was delicious as always and the service was good. We spent $65 on 2 adults, and 2 kids so for the quality we probably won't be back. I don't think I've had a worse experience at any restaurant... Waited about 15 minutes to be seated. Server came by and said he would be right with us. About 10 minutes later, he returned to take the order from the table across from us. Then took our order. Redeemed the blooming onion from check in, ordered 2 waters and the bread. He came back about 10minutes later with the neighboring drinks and bread. 10 more minutes and we got water and bread. After approximately 15 more minutes, here comes the onion....drenched in grease... Asked for another loaf of bread. 15 minutes passes, here comes the bread. I asked for a manager seeing how it has now been 45 minutes from order time and still no meals. While talking to the manager, here comes our server, Robert, with 2 plates of food. It was not our order. Although he insisted that it was. Said "I'll just leave them and get the rest of what you ordered." Uh, no... it's not our food. He walks away. 10 more minutes and here comes our food. Its cold to the touch. Broccoli was raw and the baked potato was crunchy and cold. The butter wasn't even melted on it. Granted our meal was comped after the horrible service but, really? Cold, raw food?? The manager told us the reason for the delay was because the cooks were overwhelmed with 5 pages of door dash orders that came in after our order was placed. Makes sense. Serve the out going orders first and ignore your customers sitting right there. Robert made excuse after excuse of why it was horrible. This review is based solely on the lack of customer service at this location. We'd planned for days to have an early family dinner out on Saturday. We arrived a bit after 4 pm. We walked in and the young man at the host's podium did not look up nor did he greet us. Well,ok, maybe you're new and don't know how to appropriately greet your customers. He told us it was going to be 5 to 10 minutes of a wait. We looked around and the restaurant was barely full at that hour. Why the wait? Very curious. As we moved toward the seating, I thought it was odd that the rude host didn't even bother to ask our party's name or the number of people who were dining. My husband went back to the podium to give him our names and again, no eye contact from the host and a mumble that he didn't need it. Again, very strange. The host seemed immersed in his work of some kind; reviewing a chart over and over. Come on! If you're the host, do your job! While my husband and son used the restrooms (which they reported were gross and smelled of urine) I sat there getting more miffed by the second. Why should I give this place my hard earned money? No way. I decided we were leaving. On our way out the manager opened the door for us and thanked us for coming. Hah! I asked him if he was the manager and he said he was. I promptly told him that the host was rude and recounted the story. It appeared as if he was going to reprimand the offender but guess what? We did not receive an apology from the manager. That is the very least he should have done. It starts from the top down and I know who the main culprit is. I've decided to never go to this chain again! Ever! Finally he showed up asked us to wait while he cleaned a table ( only one dirty in the whole empty place) as the manager stared at us and his phone like we were strangers in his house. He wasn't very pleasant to start and started to argue with us about a seafood and steak promotion that was advertised on the website and tv. He said they are not apart of the deal. We went there around 130p, on a weekday. Place is only about a quarter filled with customers. Service was friendly and quick given it wasn't busy. Both of us ordered the same, 11oz steak with coconut shrimps. Overall, it was ok. For whatever reason, I was expecting the steak to be more juicy and hotter in temp. I used to love this restaurant, I would take my daughter there at least 2 times a month. I decided to get takeout and 4 times in a row there were items missing from my order. Not silverware or bread but lobster tails were missing with my filet order...whole appetizers, side items. When you spend 80 to 100.00 on takeout food I expect my order to be correct. When I mentioned to the takeout staff what was missing, it seemed like an inconvenience to make my order correct. Shame on Outback! Never did a manager come out to apologize and while they were fixing their mistakes, the rest of my food got cold. My advise...check your orders before you drive off!!! read more

It really was not a huge deal, but the fact that he was not writing anything down just made me hesitant of him. Surprisingly, he got the appetizer and food order right. Ok fine. The flavors and seasoning were ok, but the food was not really hot, just sort of warm. Meh. The French fries we sort of soggy, like high school or cafeteria fries or something. Parking was easy. The temperature inside was comfortable. The place was clean and well lit. The staff was friendly. Outback has never let us down. Sure, there are great steak houses out there, but Outback has always been consistent. Atmosphere is friendly and service has always been great. My wife and I do them all; from low end to high end, and somehow, Outback never disappoints. To be honest, sometimes we feel that our favorite steak place ($40 per steak) is just as good as Outback. Let's be real, how many ways can you cook a steak!? We love Dominick's Steak House, but its not worth the $40-$50. It's the atmosphere that we're paying for. So every now and then, we head to Outback and save ourselves the cash and still walk away happy. read more

When we got here there was a wait. No biggie as it is Friday night. We grab a beer and 10-15 minutes we had a table. We order. Bread comes and tides us over. Food comes not paying attention I was missing a side. Husband let's the waiter know. He was willing to bring the side I declined. He states he will fix on the bill. He comes back when we're ready for the check and comps my meal. I was taken a back by his doing. For this waiter to comp my meal for a mistake is beyond me. So we showed up for dinner got a table really fast I tried to order a Watermelon type cocktail but they didn't have the ingredients for it so I just ordered a Margarita and when it came they had filled the short glass with ice and so there was probably about 4 oz of margarita in it. We ordered the boneless rib eye and it was SOOOOOO salty and they're was a ton of fat on mine I couldn't even eat it all. I don't know what is going on in the back but the vibe from the waitstaff was so off they definitely weren't happy working there you could tell with all of them as I looked around and I even mentioned it to my boyfriend. I told him there's something up here I don't know what but these people are not happy at all! I felt bad for them in a way, it was a very weird experience. And they were playing hip hop music kinda loud which surprised me because there were several elderly people that were there. I won't go back. This is why I don't ever eat at FOOD CHAINS!!
