We had bread, a blooming onion several drinks and this is what our table looked like after we were finished.

Food was good but service lacked! They didn't ever clear our table off. This is how it looked at the end of our meal!

    Great food!

Dining with the Outback for New Years Eve and while the dining room is not full, the Doordash orders keep flooding in. This has caused them to struggle a bit but the food and service are FLAWLESS! The one hiccups we had was quickly resolved and cared for with excellence. This staff needs to be commended for a job well done. Thanks to all! We will be back!

    (Dry) Steak and Coconut Shrimp

This was my first time at Outback and I was greatly disappointed. It was a busy Friday night so maybe that was why both the food and the service wasn't good. Thank god, one of my friends orders the moonshine pitcher for the table because it distracted us a little bit while we waited way too long for our food. We spent two hours at this restaurant - half of it was spent waiting. It honestly should not take that long. I ordered the seared ahi tuna appetizer and the sirloin and coconut shrimp. The seared ahi tuna was actually really good. I ordered my stake to be cooked medium rare but it came out medium well to well done. It took some serious elbow grease to cut the meat and chew it. The coconut shrimp was good despite that. I find it funny that the seafood at a steakhouse tastes better than the steak.

The second steak we received, boy do I wish I had snapped a photo of the first.

The building itself is over a 100 years old and is on the National Register of Historic Places, this helps its cool vibe. We came in at 12:30 on a December Thursday, it was absolutely packed, what appeared to be multiple team/holiday gatherings. We were told a 20 minute wait, but we eventually were able to find a seat at the bar in less time. With as busy as it was, I was concerned food coming out may be impacted, but it came out quick. Allie was our bar tender, she was very friendly and attentive, shout out to her. First I started with a local beer, wango tango. I would call it a hazy pale ale. It was perfect for me. Had grilled shishito peppers. It was my first time to ever eat one, I loved them. I enjoyed them better without the sauce, but the wasabi Mayo did provide a nice kick. I ate the fried wontons with the sauce. We shared the crab Rangoon flatbread. It did not disappoint, and had a healthy serving size. I would get it again and again! Then I went with a comfort food, fried bologna sandwich. It came with a side, but the sandwhich alone was enough. I added a close pic of the sandwich, it had two thick cut pieces of meat. Impressive. It came with melted cheese, that was a twist for me, but I wanted to try it the way it was on the menu first. I eventually added ketchup, lol. We now have a new place to stop as we're passing by on 70. If I lived closer, i definitely would be a regular!!!

Our latest visit was on a Saturday evening (5/2/26) on Prom night & the place was crazy busy. I ordered a filet & got a ?? steak which I asked the waitress about & she sent the manager (Marshall) over to assist me. He arrived at our table within 2 or 3 minutes & analyzed the situation & agreed there was a steak mistake... Marshall emerged from the kitchen within just a few minutes with a perfectly grilled, melt in your mouth Filet. I asked him how he got that done so quickly & he told me he knew people in the kitchen. He has a sense of humor too! I realize that this was a simple mistake, as it's ridiculously difficult to keep everything straight when you're cooking orders for 300 people at a time... Bottom line: This restaurant is a definite go to in Terre Haute! It's a little pricy, but worth every cent in all around quality & service! You definitely get what you pay for! But seriously is it the steak or rolls with cinnamon butter that are the major draw at steak house? I will let you ponder on that., My weekday dinner stop was somewhat brief being on the road with a schedule. No problem parking, or waltzing in and being offered seating. But first a look at the case to choose a steak. The dining room was tidy and hostess friendly. Soon after being seated my waitress arrived with drink order and rolls. I wasted no time lettering her know a Ft. Worth ribeye was chosen from the case and medium temp. The sides loaded sweet potato and mixed vegetables. For drink a tap beer. As I waited on my dinner the rolls smothered with cinnamon butter helped my appetite after not having lunch. The bread was hot and yummy! Within 20 minutes food hit the table and everything was correct. I love a great loaded sweet potato and hit that first, so good! The steak was a bit overcooked, but still delicious and no complaints. The mixed vegetables fresh. I did receive a follow up and offer for more rolls. The check was taken care of at the table on their machine. Although prices have skyrocketed I feel they have done better than others trying to hold the line. This Terre Haute Roadhouse was a solid stop and got me down the road.

I am writing about a delivery, so I can't comment on the restaurant itself. I took a star off because they did not provide any utensils or napkins in the delivery bag which made for a delayed meal since I had to go searching for a fork. The garden salad was very good. So crisp and fresh. The tomatoes were yummy, and I liked the surprise of celery amoungst the greens. The greens were mixed and not just iceberg which elevated the salad quite a bit. I always say I judge an Italian restaurant by their sauce, and this one was ok. Very sweet. Not thick. It wanted for something. I ordered the half portion of angel hair pasta, and it was still a very generous amount. I added a meatball which tasted more like an Italian sausage in a ball with a bit of spice and a chewier consistency. I wasn't mad at it, but it wasn't the seasoned ground beef crumble I expected. All in all, the meal was good, just lacking in some of things I expected from a place everyone seemed to like about it. I would probably go back and maybe try some of the other dishes next time I am in Terre Haute, if only to see if maybe it was just that order.
