Think the Blooming Onion is the best! The portions are good. I would recommend the ribeye if you are looking for a good steak.

Great waiter/waitress service. Order the ribeye steak and you cannot go wrong. High quality food and worth the price. Only reason they don't get five stars is due to hostess. They should take more care in seating us to our preference (presuming there is space all around the restaurant). For instance, do we want to sit somewhere where we can see the TVs? Or, sit in the bar? Or sit in a quiet area? If they showed some care about this from the beginning (rather than us having to fight for that), I think it would help. But, we'd definitely return here for sure next time we're in Terra Haute. read more

I came in to outback to have a beer and enjoy the game, but I ended up enjoying the service even more. Tena is one of the best servers I've ever had. She's insightful, attentive, and excellent with her customers. I never had to ask for anything. I will be coming back, but will always request Tena first. For this review I want to rant about my last visit here, its a story thats hard to believe. I have BAD luck when it comes to dinning out, this visit is a good example. Upon arival my wife and I were immediately seated and things were going good. I looked at my wife and made a humorous remark about my bad luck experiences dinning out, then our server arrives. He informs us that it was his first night on the job, a bad feeling started to set in on me. My wife and I both ordered sweet tea, I ordered the big 22oz fire grilled bone-in ribeye, my wife ordered a small prime rib. Our server returned with bread and our drinks, but our tea was unsweetened. Several minutes passed before we would see him again to correct the error, but he finely does. At this point I make another remark to my wife about my bad luck and predict that the worst has yet to come, then the server returns with our food. First he serves my wife the largest prime rib that I have ever seen. I was wowed by it because my wife wanted a small one. Then he served me a tiny ribeye like steak that was boneless. As soon as he served the food he tried to hurry off, but my wife stopped him and told him to get the manager. The manager arrives promptly, and is respectful to the situation as my wife and I explain the situation to him. To make a long story short he gave us the food that we were served, served us our correct orders, provided us great personal service, then wrote the entire bill off with the exception of my wifes correct order. That kind of service is unheard of, and my steak was the best that I had ever had anywhere. My hats off to this establishment, they really do put customers first! read more

Hostess was rude. Waiter didn't give us straws. Then no napkins. And now as I sit here with my food in front of me I have no silverware to eat it with. The mashed potatoes weren't delivered at the same time as the rest of the food. The waiter did not check on us once, I had to ask the other employees for silverware and all that because I never saw our waiter again. I ended up speaking to a manager who gave us $10 off. I've been to Outback countless times with friends and family and the service is always at one end if the spectrum - either fantastic or absolutely terrible. On this particular evening it was terrible. My mother and I received a single refill for the entire meal and had to hunt our waitress down for takeout boxes as well as the check. The food as also bland, a first for my experiences here. One thing that bothered me for whatever reason was the manner my plate was presented. Attached is a photo of exactly how it was served to me. I hadn't touched it at all, yet the plate was smeared with grease as if someone had wiped food off of the plate before delivering it to the table. Completely unappetizing. The restaurant was also absolutely freezing and my family was forced to eat in their coats. This is ridiculous and completely the fault of management seeing as it's December and snowing outside. Had this been my first visit to Outback it would definitely been my last. Rating 3 stars only because of my previous pleasant visits. Hope they get it together. read more

We added our name to the call ahead seating. Still had to wait a bit once we arrived but that was ok. The cheeseburger from the Joey menu could have been better. Seemed like it was a bit over cooked. I ordered the 6 oz fillet mignon medium, but it was a little over cooked as well. The waitress asked if she could make me one to take home, but I said it was ok. Offered to give me a discount. Then the manager came to the table and offered desert for our table. I declined, then he said he was going to comp the steak. Which was very gracious of him. The fillet was still good! went to late lunch with parents whole place empty and they set us at a table right by the kitchen door.. very loud and really the mgr on duty should really pay more attention to his conversation with employes... food was good, server was very nice, but the shift change was occurring and the whole experience could have been much better... and too i understand the soccer world championship was on in the bar but the young man who brought our food asked if we needed anything and we all asked for a refill on water never came but he did stand with the bar tender and the on duty mgr and watch the soccer game..... little things eventually make big things.. read more

Great service and food. I had the Victoria Filet and it was amazing, no need for A-1 with this steak. It was cooked to perfection and melt in your mouth. Went in recently for the steak and crab promotion. The details were in the fine print! Super expensive if you were looking for a decent steak and crab legs. We had a party of 4. 2 of us had sandwiches and one in the group had a salad, almost $100. Sorry but Outback has almost priced themselves out of business! Texas Roadhouse has great steaks at reasonable prices. Our family lives about 30 miles from Terre Haute but we typically eat in town twice per week. Outback was our go--to steak place but our last visit was disappointing. One of the main reasons for going was their croutons. Our last trip, they had some generic ones that I can get anywhere. Me and my family came here to celebrate our getting a new home. We had a great experience here. Our waitress was very attentive and genuine. The food was amazing. I ordered the chicken avocado sandwich and it was seasoned beautifully and cooked to perfection. Me and my husband asked how everyone's meal was and everyone said that it was all very tasty- as was evidenced by the empty plates. My husband had a very bad experience here this past week. I was out of town so he went there for dinner. He usally eats in the bar so he can watch TV while he eats. They were not overly busy, but he sat for a very long time with no service, then finally the bartender came over and told him she would get him a drink and a menu. I come back into Terre Haute every other month. I have an ol friend who had never been to your restaurant. We ordered the blooming onion and the coconut shrimp. Both were brought out burnt, not just dark. She thought they were good because sh'd never had them before. I kept silent. Last week I was in with her and mentioned our previous experience. We ordered the same thing and the bar tender was our server said, the blooming onion was to well done and she wouldn't bring it out. The manager brought out a blooming onion and said he heard we had a problem. This one all the strips of the onion was curled and well done. Again we were charged for a well done meal. This place is a busy place and when we went last Sunday evening the restaurant was busy. We had just returned from Indy having spent a great weekend with my parents and my sister and her husband. We stopped at the Outback in Terre Haute because it was on the way home for my parents. Usually we enjoy the Outback but over the past year or so we have seen a steady decline in the quality of the food or service. Last Sunday, our server was fine. He was funny and very personable. He brought out our food promptly and when we asked to see the manager about some Couponing issues he was more than cooperative. My beef on this trip was with the kitchen. (Pun sort of accidental.) My Mom and Dad ordered lobster tails. Obviously that wasn't a inexpensive option. My brother in law and I had a rib eye steak. I actually wanted the Pork Porterhouse chop, but our waiter came back and told me they were out. My wife had the three course dinner with a 6 oz Sirloin. My sister had the Alice Springs chicken. Here is where things started to fall apart. My mom and dads lobster came out cold. I think this was because they put their meals together first and they sat under the heating lamp while the rest of the food was prepared. My steak was sort of a zen like meal. It was both over cooked and not hot enough at the same time. My brother in laws steak was only warm at best as well. My sisters chicken was suppose to come with a honey mustard sauce, which she enjoys on her chicken. Of course, there was no sauce. We complained about our steaks to the manager and actually sent the Lobsters back to get hot ones. Eventual, My sister got her sauce after we mentioned it. Several times we mentioned it. Of all the meals i think my wife's turned out to be the best, with few or no missteps. After this long list of issues and after complaining to the manager about our meals, there was no effort on the restaurant's part to compensate for the badly prepared food. They offered the excuse that the Kitchen was understaffed. While i can sympathize that there wasn't enough man power in the kitchen, the number of minor and major issues was pretty long. I won't say we won't be back, because we have really enjoyed it in the past. But, if the restaurant continues this trend of badly prepared food then I will be forced to reevaluate. read more
