Driving north on I-35 and luckily found this spot! Had an amazing and delicious dinner with fantastic service! We were too hungry to take any pictures! Sorry about that! Started with the spinach artichoke dip - creamy, cheesy, and lots of artichokes, spinach, and mushrooms! The chips served with it were fresh, crisp, and had the perfect amount of salt! My husband and I shared our two entrees - the chicken fried pork chop and the pork chop marsala. Both were excellent! The pork was tender and juicy with each dish. And the Marsala sauce was one of the best I've tried! We wish we could have tried more items...but it would be well worth the drive to come back for another visit! read more

Years and years we passed by this place to do drop ins at Texas Grappling Academy In Lytle. Finally got around to trying it, it was well worth the wait! We timed it perfectly. Not very many patrons there. I know it gets crowded. The inside is very small, yet they managed to not make it feel cramped. Very intimate, and I loved the decor. Our waitress, again forgot to get her name, was attentive, and provided great service throughout our meal. I can see this place being a GREAT date spot! Let's get to the grub! We started off with appetizers. We had the fried steak calamari and boudin sausage. Let me get the one negative out of the way on the calamari. The portion for the price. It was a bit high. Also, it's not just calamari, it was fried veggies and jalapeños in the mix too. Although it was amazingly delicious, it needed more actual calamari. Also, menu stated it came with aioli. It came with a spicy paste type sauce. We weren't complaining as it paired nice, and think it was a happy mistake. The boudin, which outside of Baton Rouge, I'm not a huge fan of, was spot on! Perfect balance of spice and ingredients! The one thing I will suggest is perhaps not serving it with rice, since there is already rice in the boudin. Maybe a nice sauce or a roux? Either way it was good! The offspring, I love they are adventurous, had the blackened fish, and seafood jambalaya. Let's start with that blackened fish. Not over-salted!!!! Wow was that a relief! The sauce paired perfectly with the fish! The sautéed spinach was ok. Lacked more seasoning. The jambalaya was also pretty good! They didn't skimp on any of the ingredients. Very much appreciated! Nothing was overcooked, and it was seasoned to perfection! All the meals came with a roll, which I think was yeast. The problem with those is when they get stale, they almost taste a bit like beer. They tasted like beer. I had the Mardi Gras pasta. I was scared it would be too rich or oily. It was neither. Again a very well balanced dish! It's not cheap, but not outrageously priced. With the exception of the calamari, the portions and quality of the meal were worth the price. Whoever is in the back cares about the food. I could've been in Louisiana how good it was. The menu isn't just Cajun. They have a great variety. We did order desert. Just cheesecake, but I can almost bet they didn't make it in house. They did get creative with the plating though! This was a great little restaurant that we found while visiting relatives this weekend. My shrimp with crab was delicious and had a little kick to it! Honestly, it was as good as what I've had at some of the bigger Houston seafood restaurants like Pappadeauxs! Very friendly staff and seems like a fun place to come and have a drink at the bar. Really frustrating experience tonight. We had trouble placing our order online, so we called instead. The phone was answered with "what's up?" Our order was taken at 10:05 PM and we were told it would be ready in about 30 minutes. We arrived around 10:40 PM and the restaurant's open sign was off, chairs were already up, and there were no customers inside, which already seemed odd. When we went in, we were told, "we've been calling you, we were about to eat your food," but we had zero missed calls or voicemails. Then she told us they close at 10 PM. The confusing part is the door, Google, Maps, and online all say Saturday hours are until 11 PM. If they were actually closed, why was our order accepted after 10 PM instead of simply saying they were closed? To top it off, parts of our order were missing as well. Overall, just a very frustrating and unprofessional experience. Clear communication and accurate hours would've avoided this entire situation. read more

Passing through and decided to make a stop in the small town of Lytle as this restaurant popped up on the list and seemed like a nice spot to grab something to eat. We were greeting as soon as we entered. Seating is limited so we sat at the bar to allow ourselves some space. Server came took drink and app order and on from there. Order the mixed ceviche to start. Mixed was ordered with the expectation of shrimp and fish but it seems that the shrimp was missing. For entrees we are ordered the Mardi Gras pasta and the shrimp & sausage creole with dirty rice. Mardi Gras pasta was loaded with big shrimp and big chunks of mushroom. Pasta was light with a little olive oil flavor. Nothing really Mardi Gras, creole, or Cajun about this dish. The sausage seemed more like grilled hot dogs than sausage. For the shrimp creole dish with dirty rice; sadly the rice was pretty bland for dirty rice. A few plump shrimp scattered throughout the dish and same for the sausage; seems like grilled hot dogs that were sliced up. The sauce was rich but a bit salty. Although the staff was nice, our server would go missing for long stretches. Pricing was a little higher than expected for the location. Don't see them having much competition or options in the area so they can price what they want and offer it how they please. read more

New to the area and this was a favorite place. To the point where any family that came to visit, we made it a point to take him there for lunch or dinner. After several visits, unfortunately it became a bit too busy with limited staff. A few times they were out of simple ingredients and it be became disappointing. Also, the servings were not the same every time. On one occasion, we had to wait to pay because the only person who had access to the register and charging credit machine was sent out to do an errand. It comes with 8 good sized butterflied shrimp and medium portion of fries. That's okay the shrimp were more than enough. Fresh crisp and delicious with homemade tartar sauce. My daughter had the shrimp and fish plate which comes with 3 large shrimp and a filet of fried fish. She enjoyed it all. Our server was very nice and attentive to anything we needed. The Outlaw is decorated fairly nice for a small town and they do have a full service bar. I will definitely be returning. I need to try the chicken fried chicken next. I have been wanting to try outlaw seafood for a couple of months now, and last Friday night seem like a good time. I placed my order over the phone and they cheerfully told me it would be ready in about 15 minutes, and it was ready right on time. The shrimp and oyster were both excellent, both perfectly cooked !! A corn meal crust was excellent on both. The servings were huge! It didn't seem pricey when I saw the portions. The fries were good too. Full bar inside. Disappointed in last nights visit. We waited 10+ minutes for someone to come to our table. When no one did we called for a waiter and when we were noticed, we were asked how many menus. The question alone should have made us leave! But we didn't as this is my husband's favorite place. He asked to speak to a manager and our waiter was quick to suggest a discount when he told us they weren't there. After we placed or order, 15-20 minutes later, our waiter comes to tell us that 1 entree was out and if the replacement option would be okay. The delay in communication was another issue. Our waiter did say the owner would offer a free dessert for the oversight. The Greek salad, watch out for pits! Was not informed that the Kalamata olives would have pits. I did tell our waiter he needed to be informed about that for his customers. The food was good but the service was very disappointing. In the 3 plus years we've been going we have never had an experience like this. We have always had great service when we would go which is why we love going but last night was just utterly disappointing. I'm not sure I want to go back. read more
