Wanted to try something new. There was a lot variety on the menu. We loved the tea. The seafood platter with catfish instead of cod was pretty good. From NC, and TX does an ok job with fried seafood. Not disappointed with this food but wanted more flavor. Lots of food for the price. Nice atmosphere and although the staff was busy, they were pleasant. Enjoy this place. The service is always great. Staff are friendly and attentive. We ordered fish like always. This time the breading coming off the filets every time we cut a piece off. It was very disappointing. This happened last time but, we thought that the problem would be addressed and fixed. After our meal, we expressed our concern/ disappointment to a staff member and as we knew why the breading was falling off, she said it was because the cooking staff was not drying the fish filets before dipping it in the batter. She said she will let the cooking staff know. I hope our next visit is a better experience. read more

This place has been around since I was a kid (Im 58) at 3 different locations. Of course, the food is not the same as it used to be but still good. However, the biggest turn-off to this restaurant is they nickel and dime you for everything. 1) The prices on the menu are cash prices. 2) There is a credit card surcharge of over 3% if you don't have cash. 3) They charge extra for to-go orders (poor workers who don't have the luxury of dining in). 4) If you dine-in and need a box for your leftovers, be ready to pay .25 cents plus tax to take your food (that you already paid for) home! I understand small businesses are struggling but is nickel and diming your customers (who are also struggling) really worth it? I honestly don't think so. I think I will rethink my visits to maybe twice a year (if that). read more

I'm always on the search for a good chicken fried steak. Sherrys Texan's had a great portion size, the steak was tasty, and cream gravy had awesome flavor, the breading didn't add much. It was crispy where it wasn't drenched in gravy (I didn't mind but if that bothers you I'd ask for it on the side). The service was great, I went on a Friday afternoon and it was pretty crowded, but there were lots of waitresses for all the tables. The building may look and be a hole in the wall, but the food is great and the people are friendly. read more

Went there for the first time the other night and had the Big Texan. A big ol chicken fried steak. It was Big and tender, however didn't have much flavor at all. I went with the white gravy and it didn't have flavor/taste to it. My friend had some brown gravy and it definitely had a bit more flavor than the white. I may go back and try their fish and shrimp. My mom and the family used to go to the original Texan and we loved the shrimp and fish back then. Maybe that'll be better. Our waitress was great. Sherrys Texan never ceases to amaze me. Thanks to my parents, I have been a patron over 30yrs. I will continue to support this establishment until they are no longer. (The owner is selling) I encourage to walk by the cash register to read their signage. (To go boxes costs when eating in, they'll be closed for a July 7th - 14 2022) Also check your order when it's to go. Not only the smart thing to do in general, but they may forget something. I will preface this review as a new customer I have patronized this eatery a handful of times. I will begin this review is out of the norm of this establishment. I know my family members that have raved about Sherry's Texan for a very long time. However, this day, at the new location , was a HUGE MISS! From service to the food I will score this 1 star. The ambience was dull and looked smaller than the previous location. Parking was dreadful, the service was mediocre and the food was meh and the wrong order! Last mention, the owner Sherry was working the cashier keeping an eye out on tables for the growing line outside . My elderly mother and I were enjoying our pre Mother's Day brunch when I felt uncomfortable with the constant onlooking from the owner. Almost as if we were taking too long especially when we ordered an item to go for my father half way through the meal. I grew tired of the states and told my mom that we need to leave so we walked over to the cashier and my sweet mother attempts a dialogue with the owner with your a busy lady and her response with disdain , a little bit. Sherry was very stressed. We told her about our order we put in and she asked me to pay for it before it came out. She said she was going to call me while we waiting in our car. We waited 30 minutes and nothing so I called to cancel my order only for her to tell me once we place an order we can't cancel and get our money back: to be fair I checked my account and they did not bill me for that order so thank you, Sherry. I am assuming that the goal is to get there early or you will be apart of chaotic dining experience. read more

First time eating here. We went to try out the liver and onions. The waitress brought our salads out, which had the wrong dressing for mine. Later we placed our orders. When they delivered our plates I noticed my liver and onions were covered in gravy. Hmmmm. I haven't had liver and onions in quite some time, but I don't recall them being served with gravy. My mashed potatoes were also covered in gravy. The waitress never checked on us, except at the time the server handed us our plates. We were served the plates without our potatoes. They mixed up the potato selections among a couple of us. She kind of shrugged it off and had me scrape the potatoes on the wrong plate onto mine. Later at the very end of the meal when she brought our checks. I told her I didn't know the liver and onions come with gravy and she just said next time tell them you don't want gravy. No kidding? I told her if I had known that it and the potatoes came with gravy I would have asked to be served without it. I know that most my life I've always had waitresses ask me if I want gravy on my potatoes and anything else I may have ordered. Geesh. What a very disappointing experience. read more

Today was the second time I ate at Sherry's. The first time was for lunch and it was amazing! This morning I tried their breakfast and it was also amazing! I had ham and cheese omelette with hash browns and a biscuit. The omelette was huge and so fluffy. The hash browns were crispy just the way I liked them and the biscuit so big I only ate half so took the other half home for later. So much food for a great inexpensive price. I recommend Sherry's to anyone looking for a great meal..breakfast, lunch or dinner. read more

The onion rings here are one of the best I've ever had! Even if you just come for the onion rings, it's worth it. And the mushrooms are the biggest this side of the Mississippi and juicy too! We were looking for a place to have breakfast this morning, and some really nice police officer suggested this place. It didn't open until 10:00am so we waited, and I'm actually happy we did. We had tacos and the Biscuit. The biscuit was large, soft and so good! We all had bacon and egg with cheese along with chorizo bean and bacon. The were large tacos and the tortillas are homemade, and so good. The lunch menu look and sounded delicious. Went to The Texan for the first time on Thursday. Great food, the ckn fried steak was great and loved the brown and white gravy on the side. Had the fish and shrimp platter, excellent cornbread coating, onion rings were perfect!! It was so good my hubby wanted to back the next day!! The second round was better, with a nice crispy edge that made that satisfying crunch when you squeezed it. Really good with the butter, though if the butter had been just a little saltier it would have been perfect. Beef Carpaccio ($32): Good but average. The individual components were all there but the dish felt like it was missing cohesion. The black sesame parmesan tuiles were a standout though. Georges Bank Seared Sea Scallop ($49): Three huge scallops cooked phenomenally. The mushroom risotto was a bit al dente and on the saltier side, and the mushroom flavor didn't come through as much as I would have liked. The squid ink beurre blanc was lovely though and really brought the dish together. Despite the risotto I would still order this again just for those scallops. Duck and Foie Gras ($46): The duck was cooked beautifully and the foie gras wasn't too heavy, just the right amount. I loved the strawberry arugula salad that came with it. The pairing worked really well overall. I personally didn't think butternut squash was the right puree choice but my husband disagreed and absolutely loved this dish. Foucher Sancerre Rosé ($15 glass): I am usually not a fan of rosé because of how dry they tend to be, but this one was not bad. It tasted much better when paired with food. August Riesling ($12 glass): A yummy, sweet drink that is refreshing and easy to drink. I had to pace myself or I would have finished it before the main courses even came out.

When you walk in you have the option to do a to go order on the kiosk or stand in line to order in/to go. While in line you are in line where they hold their bakery items, smart business move as it definitely enticed me to order some baked goods! We got 2 kouign amann, one cheesecake and one strawberry. Both were so good and not overly sweet. I'll definitely get it again and try other options they have. The food is really good and tasty! I got the torta Chicken milanesa with fideo soup and hubby got the half/half salad chicken milanesa. Service was great despite it being so busy. We didn't have to wait too long for our food to get to our table which is awesome considering. The overall feel of the place is social and well spaced. Definitely will be coming back!

The food was ready when we arrived, but the coffee wasn't (I don't think they have a fridge or warmer to keep drinks at the right temperature, so they don't make them until you come in to pick up.) We had to remind them that we'd ordered drinks and we ended up waiting another 20-30 minutes, our food in hand, while we waited on 3 iced coffee orders. I think the issue was a mix of crowds and kitchen layout. They were very clearly trying to make sure that the people who were seated in the restaurant were being served as well, but all of the drink orders were going through this one, tiny coffee station that frankly couldn't keep up. And I think our drink orders were basically added at the end of the drink queue when we arrived to pick up our order. We didn't get any sort of priority because we'd technically ordered ahead. We essentially skipped the line, but not the queue on drinks. All in all, I'd definitely want to visit again. The food and drinks WERE really great. I had the avocado toast with chicken and for a seemingly simple dish it was absolutely phenomenal. The abuelita's was the best of the 3 iced coffee offerings we tried, and I would definitely order again. But we'll definitely have to plan/strategize around crowds and be prepared for a long wait even if we order ahead.
