We went mid afternoon and the menu was pretty much limited to breakfast entrees and tapas. My husband ordered one of their omelette selections which he really enjoyed. I chose the spring roll and mini burger tapas which were ok. Everything however was very fresh. My 4 friends & I ate at the Outpost for the first time last night. A beautiful, open air, farm to table restaurant. We ate amongst the garden - herbs, flowers, & other plants throughout the restaurant. We were seated upstairs on the open air patio & promptly greeted by the friendly servers who took time to answer any questions we had. There was something for everyone...the adventurous & the more cautious eaters alike & everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. The flavors were enhanced by the beautiful & impressive presentation. We started with the trio of margaritas...love the variety & the avocado margarita is my new fav - avocado, serrano pepper, coconut creme, tequila, grand marnier. Homemade guacamole & Peruvian ceviche were next. One of the best ceviche I have ever had with a stunning presentation - yellowfin, octopus, fish, cucumber, avocado, lime, purple onion, serrano, coriander. For entrees we had the octopus cooked in a martajado chili sauce, grilled shrimp with sauteed veggies from their garden, grilled chicken ceasar salad, & the carbonara pasta. Incredible atmosphere. Everything is farm to table. An incredible amount of time, effort and creativity goes into each cocktail. Everything has a purpose. Each cocktail has incredible unique ingredients including infusing alcohols, regional liquor and infused ice cubes. Every Friday night is 500 peso open bar. All food is small plate. Everything is incredibly bright and fresh. This might be the best bar I have ever been too. I would love for this to be my local bar. Do not miss out on this place. read more

I came to the Outpost Cabo for my wedding welcome night with 20 guests. This was our last stop for the evening, and believe this might have been why they tried to take advantage. We ordered shots of Clase Azul tequila for the table (20 shots) and they brought them out, we all drank them, and though some thought it did not taste right, went on with the night and ordered more drinks. Then we noticed the bottle they poured them from, hidden to one side of the table, was not Clase Azul at all, but Casa Dragones. But the kicker was this particular tequila was only available by the bottle, so even though they ordered and poured us the wrong tequila, they were also trying to charge us $1000 for the bottle of the wrong tequila. We spoke to the servers, and in an attempt to "make it right" they took the initiative to bring us the original order of 20 shots of Clase Azul, but then also charged us for those, even though we never asked for another. And honestly, we were ready to leave, and did not want another shot. So our bill was close to $2000 for everything we did not order. We paid the bill anyways, and then the server came back and handed us the bill back to give him more tip! We all feel like this was all done intentionally because they saw 20 people who had come from another bar, and thought we would not notice being taken advantage of, and even when we did realize this, they demaded a tip. Had really high hopes going into this based on their TripAdvisor ranking and menu but we were seriously disappointed. I think this place has gotten by on Instagram clout and the restaurant's design aesthetic. Two in our group ordered the Cadillac Margarita while my husband ordered the more basic classic margarita. We were then charged $60 on top of the cocktail prices for premium tequila in both the Cadillac and classic Margaritas that we never requested (we ordered the cocktails as they were priced and listed on the menu). As the waiter was taking our drink order he asked if Don Julio was okay for the Cadillac margaritas to which we said yes thinking that was the standard way the cocktail came. You would think if you were being asked to add premium tequila to your cocktail by your waiter he should disclose that information. Regardless, he never mentioned any sort of up charges or asked my husband who ordered the two classic margaritas. We questioned the waiter on this at the end of our meal he played dumb and said this is what we asked for and he also claimed my husband who ordered the basic classic margarita for a reason had also said he wanted Don Julio. Truly laughable at this point. We also had asked for still house water and were charged for bottled water. It was a lot of little things that added up to a very underwhelming experience. If you're going to charge for premium tequila add on's in cocktails you should probably work on disclosing that to your patrons or perhaps clarifying that you are going to up charge them for things not listed on the menu's drink price. All in all shady business practice. Ultimately it's not about the money it's about the deceptive practices and bad service. Beyond this the food is lackluster. The steak was gross, the tender young chicken was dry, and my brother said the Caesar salad was worthy of ending up on Kitchen Nightmares (and he will eat literally anything). Skip this during your next trip in Cabo! There are many other better restaurants in the area. read more

We were seated right away, even without having a reservation and Jesus made us feel special throughout our visit. He made excellent recommendations for appetizers, cocktails, dinner and desert. For a business that just recently opened, Outpost has proved to be very promising and full of potential. This modernized restaurant/bar offers delicious tapas-style dishes and amazing hand crafted cocktails. Try it out; you won't regret it! However, if you are on vacation and looking for a more cultural spot --- this is not it. The reason why I say this is because Outpost was the only restaurant we visited in Cabo that is not traditional Mexican cuisine, since I wanted to enhance my out-of-country cultural experience. Outpost is definitely a more Americanized establishment, in my opinion. In Cabo, excellent customer service is an absolute requirement of every business in hospitality industry, due to high competition especially in a tourist zone. My dining experience here was particularly memorable because the staff was not only so attentive and helpful, but the service definitely surpassed my expectations. Now onto the food and drinks --- We ordered BBQ sliders, Beef Empanada Gyosas, and Tuna Tostaditas. My favorite are the latter two. The fact that they grow their own ingredients really reflects in the quality and taste of the food. The one concept I particularly enjoyed was the idea to plate their tapas on steel platter (not sure what they are called). My only recommendation to the restaurant is perhaps to plate dishes differently, as there is a diminishing value of appreciation effect on all things. Otherwise, everything is beautifully plated and tastes just as great as it looks. All my drinks were comped due to special promo going on that evening, but my favorite was the Damiana Kiss. For "craft cocktails," I did feel that the alcohol content was too light. Back home in the States, "craft cocktails" specifically boast complex, handmade ingredients and flavors, usually has a higher content of alcohol and contains complex liqueurs, thus going for about $15+ each drink. I've noticed in Cabo most bars tend to make their drinks light or strictly one shot per cocktail, which I have no problem with. As a cocktail enthusiast myself (and experienced bartender), a proclaimed craft-cocktail bar should meet the expectations of this, even if you have to raise the price or lower the limit of free drinks you are giving out. I don't believe in filling my bladder with so much liquid yet feeling completely sober after. I tapped out at three drinks because I couldn't possibly retain more liquids, but could probably blow a .01% abv if I had a breathalyzer. This is merely my feedback in terms of drinks, and I wish this business all the best. :) THE SMORES EXPERIENCE WAS AWESOME! The fact that they can make such a simple, classic dessert into such a complex, fancy experience makes me so happy. Because they just opened, Outpost is offering many promotions to kick start the business. From 20% off yelp check ins, Ladies' Night (three free cocktails PER TAPA you order), and lunch specials. You even get a free dessert for hash tagging your bathroom selfie in the restaurant! Go take advantage of these deals while you can, and gain great experience from it at the same time. read more

Came here with a large group. Our food took 2 hours and came out one dish at a time and they had no idea who ordered what. We ended up having to tell them what we each ordered and they would go down to the kitchen to get it. Half the group was finished before the other half even got their food and a few in our party never got anything. Joke of an experience! The food really wasn't anything special either.
