Honestly I can't believe this place isn't packed all the time. If this was anywhere in the states, it would be impossible to get a table. The Outpost is very close to where we stayed and we were all so glad it was because not only is it the sister restaurant to Flora Farms, a farm to table restaurant but it has some of the best breakfast and lunch in the area. We tried everything on both menus and literally everything was good. The 1$ tacos at lunch were fantastic. The Rancheros, Pancakes and Chilaquiles I personally had multiple times. They also had signature drinks which we tried all of and they were freaking delicious. The hibiscus mimosa was crazy good. Also the place is clean, beautiful and you can sit indoors or outdoors. staff are super friendly and attentive. They even had a side store that sells luxury body care products with ingredients like cocoa butter, tallow, coconut oil. This place is it for the lazy morning/afternoon times you want awesome food and drink. Skip anywhere at the marina and walk up to the outpost. read more

It's easy to tell the people at outpost truly care about the quality of their service and food. That's why I dined there twice during my most recent trip to Cabo. We visited outpost while visiting Cabo in early December. I enjoyed the cleanliness of the restaurant and quick service by the crew. Ordered the stuffed fish and unfortunately suffered food poisoning. However, my sister had an excellent meal and didn't get sick. This place should be rated $$$ and not $$ even for Cabo. Don't come here hungry as you will not be full when you leave. The menu had a lot of fancy descriptions for food options but what arrived was nothing out of the ordinary. Sides are separate from most mains. I paid 98 pesos (~$5) for a side salad which was mixed greens and nothing else. If you want a small side of fries, that will cost the same or truffle fries for an extra $129 pesos (~$6.5). The BLT described pork belly but it came with a sparse amount of thick cut bacon and barely any tomato. The artisan bread was ok, but the whole things was just too small for what you are paying ~ $10 and should have come with the side at that price. The food was not bad, but I'm not seeing the allure. We did come at lunch and they have a limited menu so dinner is better time if you want to try it. This place was nowhere near as good as El Peregrino if you are looking for another option where the price equaled the expectation. Expect to spend more here than other places you might elect for lunch or dinner. It is quite accessible being right off the main drag a short walk from the marina. One thing that looked intriguing were the mixed drinks as the bartender did make them quite presentable and they seemed unique. Anyway not my favorite option in Cabo. read more

Stumbled upon this sexy, cool and chic tapas bar while in Downtown Cabo San Lucas. The atmosphere and ambiance is so unique, chill and relaxing which is far different and a breath of fresh air compared to all of the other 'in your face, come inside' bars in town (y'all know what i mean). I had their Farm Julep mohito style drink, with invigorating ingredients straight from their very own garden (upstairs)which will give any mohito a run for their money! Management even threw in their signature petit smores board 'on the house' on the night we were here (shhhh don't tell them we said this). Come and enjoy this place when you're looking for a break from the typical/usual bar in town! You won't regret it! They even have an upstairs outdoor lounge with its own bar where you can enjoy a smoke (cigar) and a drink of your choice! read more

My wife and I recently spent 7 days in Cabo. We were staying at the Tesoro right across the street. A co-worker recommended Flora Farms in San Jose, and early in the trip we took a day trip there. LOVED the experience and were elated to find that the Outpost (sort of a 'satellite' location for Flora Farms) was just steps from our hotel. We stopped in for some after dinner cocktails and dessert one night and had such an amazing time that we returned FIVE more times during our trip! First thing to note, this is not your typical '2 for 1 beers and cheap margaritas' downtown Cabo bar. It's an extension of Flora Farms organic farm-to-table concept and the vibe is definitely a bit more "upscale." Not in a stuffy or unwelcoming way, but reminded me much more of a chic cocktail bar/restaurant you'd encounter in Chicago, San Fran, etc. As such, their craft cocktails are priced accordingly and you can see why when you are watching the bartender prepare them. We tried just about every one on the menu and all were delicious. The preparation on the Smokey Hibiscus Margarita, Carajillo Del Patron, and Good Morning Punch are spectacular and worth the price alone just to watch the bartender do his thing! What's great though, is that if you're not in the mood for a fancy cocktail and just want a cold beer, is that Pacifico and Corona bottles are only $1! All the time, no exceptions, no specific hours, you can't beat that! I just read another reviewer who left a one star review because their Modelo cost more than a Corona. It's CLEARLY stated on the menu that Pacifco and Corona are $1 US each, and Modelo Especial and Modelo Negro are $79 MX (pesos, around $4 US depending on the current conversion rate.) The same reviewer also mentioned paying $7 for water. Again, this is something that is clearly called out on the menu. Regular tap water is FREE, and they even explain on the menu the filtering and purification process that they put the tap water through to alleviate any of those "don't drink the water" concerns. :) The $7 water is a premium bottled spring water that is listed completely separately on the menu. Onto the food. The first night we just stopped in for dessert. We tried the classic S'more and the panna cotta. The S'more was simple, but just a perfect bite! The panna cotta was the best I have EVER eaten. Absolutely to die for. We also tried the creme brulee on a subsequent visit and it was fabulous. The desserts are priced right - $48 MX (around $2.50 US!) and are a perfect small portion - exactly right for when you want a little sweet bite after dinner without stuffing yourself silly. We came for breakfast another day and chose to sit in their rooftop terrace which is beautiful. I had the chilaquiles and my wife went with the french toast. Both were delicious and just the right portion. I also had a taste for pancakes, so I order the gluten-free pancakes as well. These were just OK - I am not 'gluten free,' they just don't have a non-GF pancake on the menu so I took a shot. The presentation, sides, and garnish were all great and the pancakes were cooked well, and if you're someone who it legitimately gluten intolerant/celiac's disease then they're probably great, but I'll certainly stick with gluten in my pancakes. :-) We also came for lunch one day. I had the tuna salad, my wife had the chicken salad, and we split an order of the parmesan truffle fries. The tuna salad was the best I've ever had. This is NOT your typical canned tuna and mayo! They use fresh caught, smoked yellowfin tuna, mix it with house made seasoned mayo, jalapenos, red peppers, red onion, cilantro, and lime juice and serve it on toasted sourdough. Delish! The chicken salad is similarly kicked up a notch and fantastic. The truffle cheese fries were more than enough to share and hot, crispy, and delicious! Lastly, I have to give a shout out to the entire staff, because without them we wouldn't have kept returning. The bartenders, servers, and manager were so welcoming and treated us like family. We kept joking that they had to be sick of us for how often we came in during our trip. The manager gave me a fantastic recommendation for a boutique tequila shop to check out in town. Our bartender knew us by name by the 2nd time in and treated us like royalty. He really made our trip, we even stopped in the night before we left to gift him with a couple of bottles of wine as a thank you. If you're looking for great craft cocktails (or just a $1 beer!), delicious farm-to-table food, and a little bit of 'big city chic' in the heart of Cabo San Lucas, The Outpost is a must try!! read more

Just got back from Cabo and I'm only doing one review from my trip and that's for the Outpost! First off, we sat upstairs which was very comfortable and charming. We had heard about the $1.00 Corona's and $1.00 street tacos and wanted to check this place out. The service was incredible, the people were all very friendly. We ended up having some tacos, that were awesome and some beers and I was in the mood for Chicken Alfredo which had the most awesome flavor! Wife had some vegetable dish of some sort. She loved it and said it tasted great! We were very impressed and pleased with this restaurant. When we go back, we will make it a point to visit them again! read more

We had drinks here one afternoon, delicious and beautiful presentation . Lavender Martini and Farmtini with hibiscus nectar. The menu looked so good we came back the next day to enjoy a creative take on huevos rancheros, insane grilled cheese with poblano jam(just enough heat, not too spicy) and French toast with mezcal and spice syrup. Unexpected flavor combos and all made more enjoyable by our gracious and informative host/waiter Hector. It's a very cozy place with a rooftop garden and a beautiful inside bar. May have been an off night. Been coming here 4 years in a row. We have had it all, breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert and have always been impressed. We always order the same thing and last night we had the guacamole (wonderful) and I ordered de la Baja Caesar salad. It came out as the smoked mixed greens salad and they tried to tell me it was the Caesar. I've had both and I am not a fan of smoked food. Still they insisted the mixed greens salad was a Caesar, but there was no Romaine lettuce, Parmesan, Caesar dressing or croutons on this salad (clear indicators of a Caesar) plus we got charged for it. That's ok because my husband ate it and we love this place, so no biggie! But, when they brought out the Farm Julep, and there was no fresh watermelon chunks or mint in it, I knew right away (I have these every time I visit here) The waiter again tried to tell me it was a farm julep, and I told him no way -uh uh! They took it back and made it correctly, which was great! Just was a bummer because they treated us like we didn't know. Maybe they didn't know or were new or something, but I just wanted to post, so that the Manager is aware. It's ok, we will still be back next year to try the Caesar again!! read more

We made our first visit to this restaurant, and it is likely to be our last. The staff was very friendly, but the place is more of a bar than a restaurant. It is on a busy street and the music was very loud, partly to overcome traffic noise. We did try four of the tapas, two vegetarian and two meat. Each was good, but I enjoyed the meat more. We visited Outpost twice during our one-week stay in Cabo San Lucas and it was by far the best food we had of our vacation. The catch of the day was Sea Bass and it was the most delicious, tender, perfectly cooked fish. The side dishes were all really interesting, especially the "corn on the cob," which wasn't really on the cob, but so tasty it didn't matter! We also had the best cocktail of the trip -- the smoked hibiscus margarita. It might have even been the best cocktail I have ever had. The salty sweet spread on the glass gave it the most interesting taste. We also had an amazing, perfectly prepared creme brûlée for dessert. Magnificent! We sat outside, upstairs both visits and it was lovely. Our server both times, Hector, took great care of us and made sure we had everything we needed. He gave us a tour of the rooftop garden and gold us of the history of the restaurant. I'm super excited they will be opening a location in San Francisco soon! read more

What a great dining experience! The Outpost is affiliated with Flora Farms and if you are a "foodie" you will love this restaurant too. From the moment you step through the entrance, you will know that you are in a very special place. Every detail from the decor, ambiance, music, lighting, service and especially the food, is very creative, intentional and purposeful. We were greeted by the host, Roberto, who gave us the wonderful history of Flora Farms and how the farm to table concept has also been painstakingly created at Outpost, including a rooftop garden, where all of the herbs and greens are used in the food they create. Roy, our excellent Waiter, was extremely knowledgeable, courteous and also highlighted the many options on the menu, including a variety of signature craft cocktails. We started with the Lavender Martini and Grandpa Nelson, which we were able to watch the incredible Mixologist, Hector, expertly craft our cocktails. The large balls of ice in each glass were infused with herbs and fruit, so that when they rolled around in the glass, there was just an essence also infused in the drink. For appetizers we chose the Black Tiradita - yellow fin tuna, avocado puree, roasted cucumber and pickled jicama with tumeric and then the Vietnamese Spring Rolls. Delicious! No detail is spared and especially in the presentation of each dish, beautiful and creative works of art. We both chose the Seared Sea Bass with lavender butter, star squash risotto and cauliflower puree. Incredible!! For dessert, we chose the Deconstructed Smores with honey graham cracker ice cream and coffee crumble. A perfect ending to our dining experience!
