Tonight was the second time I've eaten here. A number of things on the menu sounded good and at the suggestion of my server I ordered the club sandwich on rye with a side of fries. It hit the spot. The turkey was fresh as was the bread. The bacon was thick and crispy and the fries were fresh and hot. I was very pleased with the presentation. The taste and quality were excellent. My server was efficient but not overly friendly. She treated me courteously and didn't mind that a read my book and played on my phone for a good period of time. Overall this is an enjoyable place to eat. I'll be back the next time I am in Hesperia. read more

I'm chalking this horrible experience up to a really bad set of circumstances. Nonetheless, this never should have happened. We walked in at 10:35 am on a Sunday morning and everyone was harried and flustered. It took the waitress awhile to acknowledge us, but at least someone else poured us coffee. When she finally got over to greet us she explained that there was a new cook and all of the orders were coming out wrong. I could tell she was stressed, and I used to wait tables, so I said- no worries and placed our order. We were sitting right at the counter, so we could see that orders were getting botched left and right. Our waitress came back a half hour later to apologize and tell us our orders had still not been put in. I told her I was hungry and she said she'd give us our food for free. 10 mins later, nothing. I told her we had to pick up our daughter from camp, and had to leave. Not her fault, not the new cooks fault. The management and owners are 100% to blame here. DO NOT TRAIN new staff on the weekend during busy times!!! I'm sad and hangry now that I wasted an hour waiting for food that I never got to eat. read more

Any time I stop in California, I always stop here over the other truck stops. Service is awesome! Food is great! Large portioned food. If you leave hungry it's your own fault. The waitresses work hard and there best to make your stay enjoyable. Every time I'm here, the waitresses are running around with there heads chopped off, to serve you. I came to Outpost Cafe today to try their Chicken Fried Steak to see how it compares to The Iron Skillet's Chicken Fried Steak, which they are famous for. I tried The Iron Skillet's first and it was amazing, really good. Then I came here and had the best. The coating is so crunchy and flavorful while the meat is very tender. The gravy here is better too. They have a good version but not the best!! Outpost Cafe's was cooked perfectly and the portion is big but more important it tastes GREAT!!! read more

Just had a late breakfast with my son. We sat ourselves in the dining area that is to the right as soon as you walk in. If you are looking for a reasonable amount of quiet during your meal, DO NOT SIT IN THIS ROOM! There is a generator of some kind that periodically comes on and is quite loud. We waited about 5 minutes for the waitress to take our drink order and then another for her to return with my coffee and without my sons water (it was the only thing he ordered to drink). She returned 5 minutes later with his water. We waited another 10 minutes for her to come back and take our food order. He ordered the half ham steak and eggs and I, eggs, bacon, hash browns. We split a short stack of flapjacks. When our food arrived, I have to admit, I was less that excited. THE PLUS SIDE The flapjacks were great, thick and fluffy. The biscuits and gravy were good too. The ham steak was one of the best I've ever sampled. Browned on both sides and juicy without being wet on the inside. THE NEGATIVE SIDE The bacon was fatty and thin. My over-easy eggs were overcooked and the hash browns were mushy They looked like crispy delicious hash browns on the outside but were like mashed potatoes when you dug in. During the meal at one point, my coffee cup was completely empty for about 5 minutes. I really hate that. Our waitress was friendly and warm but unfortunately, she was also way too busy to properly service her customers judging from the service (or lack thereof). read more

Summary: Great traditional American food at a great price! If you're in the area, try it out! (I.E: if you're on your way home from Vegas) It's a diner, like a mom and pops diner. The service is great, this place can get pretty busy. I haven't had to really wait the couple of times I've gone. You just seat yourself and the server usually comes up to your table not too long after to take your order. It has a very casual atmosphere. They have books you can read while you're waiting for your food. Food comes out in a timely manner and it tastes delicious. The servers here are pretty attentive, always seeing if you need anything. I was given wrong directions to this place, but found it anyway. I 've decided to try every breakfast burrito offered in the state of California. So the Outpost came up. It was filled with some delicious eggs, cheese and all sorts of veggies and breakfast meat. To say it was big would be an understatement. The service was great, waitresses friendly and efficient. Good quality food with large proportions that can easily be split. Went here the other day with the family and was consumed by the smell of BBQ. Ordered a cheeseburger with bacon and was surprised by the quality and size. The bacon was thick cut and the burger was also thick. Ordered sweet potato fries as the side, which were equal in quality and deliciousness. We were sitting next to the pie display and asked if we could get a slice of pie. Ok finally came by to visit this place to do a proper review in person and I believe they deserved a clean slate so here goes They lost a star at the very beginning of the meal, I ordered a water and my wife an orange juice, the water is terrible, I mean horrid tasteing and I love water, so I decide well maybe a lemon will help, not even close it was worse so I suppose there lemons are bad as well, my wife's minute maid was great it tasted EXACTLY LIKE WATER so order the orange juice if you want orange flavored water, my suggestion is get better drinks and buy a water filter a drink is a big percentage of the meal I enjoyed my food a whole lot less because I didn't have anything to drink with it They loose another star because the veggie omelette I had was the burntest egg I've had in a while I suppose the only thing that saved the meal was 3 good things about this meal Pros: Very delicious biscuits and gravy it was on point! Been to this establishment twice. Once for dinner and second time for lunch, 6 years apart. First time for dinner was a hit, good food and good service. Second time not so fortunate. Read great reviews, but guess it was only for breakfast. Went in for lunch and got the worst service and somewhat food. Guess the morning crew works harder and better than the afternoon crew. We've driven past this restaurant for almost 20 years. But looking for a new place to try, we came across this place on Yelp. We were greeted by a friendly server. She made recommendations for our family, since it was our first time. The food was fresh and served fairly quickly. My daughter's burger was delicious with a hearty meat patty. Husband and I both had omelettes and were pleased. The kids menu was so so, very average. I would totally recommend you try this at least once. My experience at Outpost Cafe was relaxing and cozy. The staff was very friendly. The food you get per dollar at this place... Is big! The food was very reasonable and the portion were huge! 3 out of my 5 friends could not finish the main dish. Take away is available. I stood in the middle next to the counter waiting to be acknowledged by the waitress for over 5 minutes while she walked RIGHT passed me 3 TIMES!! She attended to her other 3 tables searching for ketchup and mustard (place was far from packed) and still never said a word to me. Needless to say, I did not patronize them. Service goes a long way and a simple greeting or acknowledgement would've done it. Don't spend my $ where its not wanted. The decor was an interesting mix of old school paraphernalia and cabin/ranch style. But can't say anything about the food. Guess I have to find another burger place in the HD. read more

What sets them apart from the rest is all of their ingredients/sauces/dishes are fresh and made from scratch and believe it or not everything I had was not salty at all. Nothing beats freshly grated hash browns! This place has a motto of "Warm Beer, Lousy Food, Bad Service". I get the tough mantra being next to a truck stop but I experienced the exact opposite.
