Decided to stop by here for a quick brunch before heading home from Pinecrest and one of the guides suggested Crestline Cafe. Arrived with a party of 4 and there was a short wait to get seated. There's about a total of 12 or so tables but it was moving at a decent pace. Unfortunately things went south from there. Got seated and the waiters were pretty fast and attentive. I had an early breakfast so decided to go with the lunch Patty Melt as it was a restaurant house specialty. Friends ordered the BBQ sandwich and Ragin Cajun. It took almost 30+ minutes for the food to come out and most of the meats came out very dried for some reason. The fries were fabulous though. Decor is very mountain diner-esque but clean and comfy. Maybe what we ordered was not exactly their specialty as I saw lots of people eating breakfast. But the lunch menu was just not it on Sunday sadly. Loved this place! The only thing is that they put chamoy on their Michalada's. (I don't like chamoy, I wish the server would have mentioned it). No big deal. Next time, I'll order without it. There are a lot of parking spaces and it can get busy, but I say it's worth the wait and I guess for the people who were waiting outside too. We ordered the French toast with egg and sausage and the daily special which was a pork chili verde omelette. I also ordered a side of the biscuit and gravy. Because there is a sign stating that they had the 'BEST' B&G. I am no expert on B&G, but I have had my share of them from Tennessee to Texas, Nevada, Az and up and down Ca. The gravy was EXCELLENT! Thick and rich but not overly floured to make it thick. The bits of sausage and seasoned with just the right amount of pepper. The biscuit was soft and spongy. I understand that there many different camps on how a 'biscuit' should be made. This biscuit was perfect for ME. Well done to the chef! My omelette was fluffy like a Japanese omelette and covered with delicious pork chili verde sauce and melted cheese. The country potatoes were delicious mixed with bell peppers and onions. The French Toast with the add-on eggs & sausage. They have maple & Boysenberry syrup AND the syrup comes out in warmed up bottles. They have lunch and dinner options too. We'll definitely be back. The entire staff was friendly and nice. Helping each other out is always nice to see. This place has a family owned warmth feeling about it. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Absolutely not dog-friendly. I am extremely disappointed with how I was treated at Crestline Cafe. In the morning, I was told to sit outside because I had my dog with me. I accepted that, but my food was served in takeout containers, making me feel unwelcome from the start. When I returned for dinner, I was again told to sit outside. I explained that my dog is a service dog trained to assist me during panic attacks. I was finally allowed inside, but when I briefly picked her up after she moved from under the table, the manager told me to leave. I have never been treated this way anywhere else in California. Instead of showing understanding, the manager chose to remove a paying customer. The food may be good, but the customer service was disappointing and humiliating. I will not be returning. What is most disappointing is not that you disagreed with my review, but that your business chose to publicly accuse a customer of "completely fabricating the truth." Instead of addressing my concerns professionally, your response attacks my character and makes assumptions about my disability and my dog. Readers can decide for themselves which response appears more professional. I genuinely enjoyed Crestline and was excited to visit your café. Honestly - for a cute little diner, the prices, service, portions, and quality, Crestline hit the spot! We were seated immediately at 10:30 on a Saturday which was such as pleasant surprise. The servers were so nice! Honestly, anyone we interacted with was very nice. Keeping in mind the general needs and standards of a cafe/diner, Crestline had a great set of options. My boyfriend got the pigs in a blanket with chocolate chips, bacon, and 2 eggs, while I got an omelette with pastrami, mushrooms, and cheddar cheese, with hash-browns and sourdough. Everything we had was very tasty. The pancakes were large and fluffy, the fillings in my omelette were plenty (I hate when they skimp you on the fillings) and the hash-browns were thin and crispy (my fav style). We were in Crestline for 3 days. We only ate at the cafe once. We bought dinners and took them back to our room so we could eat on the balcony, which had a great view. The eatery had a prime rib special. Hubby got fries and corn, and I got a baked potato and steamed broccoli. Service was fast and friendly. The steak was medium and done just right. It practically melted in our mouths. (And I am not much of a red meat eater.) The potato was big and filling and the broccoli was done just right. The special was 2 prime rib dinners for $40. Located on Lake Drive, the Crestline Cafe with its rock exterior isn't hard to miss. We walked in and were sat immediately. The Crestline Cafe has a great menu with one caveat. They stop serving breakfast at 3pm. So we all had to pivot after our server told us that lol. The breakfast looks incredible so I'd want to come back just for that. I ended up getting the chili size and it was a dang tasty burger. They don't skimp on the ingredients and the French fries were awesome. Before hitting the lake we stopped by for some breakfast and decided on Crestline Cafe. It's a pretty big establishment with a full house on a Saturday morning. This cafe is your perfect mountain diner with friendly workers and tasty home-cooked food. The cafe has a cozy feel to it, but unfortunately we couldn't stay so we made an order to go. I ordered the breakfast hash, my daughter ordered the grilled cheese with fries, and my friend ordered a breakfast sandwich. Me and my friend finished our food immediately, and my daughter finished hers the next day (because it still tasted good after being brought home).
