Stone Creek Bistro is the premier dining destination in Lake Arrowhead. I learned from their website that the bistro was established in 2013 and their menu is moderately priced with a mix of Southern American comfort food and traditional French bistro cuisine created with passion by Chef Sam Perry. Reservations are recommended before visiting. There is limited parking along State Highway 189, so plan accordingly especially during peak hours. I started my meal with a craft beer and a half order of the Grilled Caesar. There are a number of quality starters and entrees to choose from but after asking for a recommendation from our server, I settled on the Spicy Thai Basil Spaghetti. I also was fortunate to have the opportunity to try the steak Tartare. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared and well-crafted with fresh ingredients, and it made for an overall great meal. We decided to return for my wife's birthday to this cute restaurant. Started out with a Fess Parker Pinot Noir-very nice-and a starter which was the Mushroom Toast. I ordered the Spicy Thai Chicken with just less than medium 'heat'. You get your choice. My wife ordered the Grilled Salmon with Parmesan risotto. The flavors were out of this world. I will tell you, since I knew what was here before it made it difficult to see this as a bistro in Agua Fria.. Walking inside and seeing the way the place was laid out.. Second visit was a joke, service was super slow. So we waited an hour for our food and prime rib came out cold. Second one was comically bad. Then they lost my credit card for about 10 minutes. When we finished our dinner at Stone Creek Bistro, my girlfriend who is usually super weary of food we get in mountains immediately said 'there is no point in thinking about where else to eat tomorrow night, we are coming back here on the minute they open'. We did just that. Ambiance is casual and whimsical, but I'd describe their food and service as 'total commitment'. When we ordered a glass of wine, the lady whipped up this gismo that pours the wine and immediately fills up the bottle with argon gas, preserving the flavor of what's left in the bottle. The glass I got, which came from a nearly empty bottle, tasted as if it was just opened. No hint of oxidation there. We got pork belly, beet salad, and orecchiette on our first night, then duck confit and grilled salmon on the following evening. The pork belly was expertly trimmed, perfectly seared, not at all greasy, and full of flavors. The salad had arugula that was obviously not store-bought, beets likely came straight from farmers as well, with whole hazelnut, and whipped goat cheese on the bottom - total yam. Orecchiette was definitely one of the best we've ever had, with its chewy texture, that worked perfectly with the house-made sausages. One minor hiccup was that we were asked to put in our orders all at once, on a slow night when there was just another table occupied. I remember saying to myself 'what is this, a Nancy Silverton joint?' but then I ate the orecchiette and everything made sense. Highly recommended. We can't wait to go back!! read more

Super cute restaurant located in Blue Jay! There's limited parking in front of the restaurant but you can park across the street (all free). Set menu but they do have daily specials and daily soups. All of their soups are DELICIOUS!! The tomato bisque soup and mushroom soup are both amazing! Their duck fat fries are also incredible = A must order! Brussels Sprouts are also super tasty! Steak Tartare is meh = a bit pungent! I wouldn't order it again. I would get the Steak Frites though! Pastas are also good! Their Menu is an eclectic mix of American, Italian and some Asian. It was our first time, this place came highly recommend from some locals at sunsets and was spoke of on our boat tour as well the next day. Brianna and 'Momma' were so sweet! The ambiance is very quaint. Dining room is full of little tables, so look forward to making friends with the people next to you. The pork belly dish was absolute perfection . We had a reservation for 6:45pm on a Saturday and it was packed, but we were seated as soon as staff saw us. We started with a bottle of Moscato, mushroom toast, and duck fat fries. They were delicious. For our main dishes I had a the small mussels plate as an entree (with extra bread and butter) and my boyfriend had the caesar salad with grilled chicken. We walked in on a Sat night. All of their tables were reserved, but we were able to grab two seats at the bar. We got the duck fat fries, cheesy bread, mushroom toast, and grilled Caesar. Everything was good, but the mushroom toast was a STAND OUT. My bf who doesn't like mushrooms REALLY enjoyed this dish. This is my hands down favorite restaurant in SoCal! And it's evolved more fondly over time as our dining party changed. It was fantastic for date nights and drinking, their wine selections with recommendations is fantastic with fantastic methods of keeping the wine "fresh" with every serving. High tech! Very accommodating for food sensitivities when I was pregnant and going through treatment, their vegetarian options are amazing. Honestly ALL their items (we've tried them all, even the discontinued duck confit which I still dream about often), are amazing and so creative in flavors/plating. The bistro must love children, because when I made my reservation via email (SO EASY) to include our child in our party a high chair, crayons, activity mat, and CHILD CUP were provided when we arrived. Oh my goodness this level of attention was felt! Their child meal was also incredibly delicious, for a simple dish as buttered noodles was elevated cooked in broth, seasonings, and delivered with freshly grated Parmesan. We really felt the love of a chef who is a parent that enjoys children at the table. Our daughter who's only 1, ate her plate of noodles and nearly all my husband's braised short rib because it's so incredibly tender a toddler can enjoy it. She slept for 12 hours after that meal. Our entire family loves Stone Creek Bistro and we've recommended them to all our guests who visit the mountain and reserve a meal here. (One was a cupcake type thing dry and in a burnt caramel, and was WAY too salty; I would get rid of that completely or alter the recipe) but the other flourless chocolate cake was so decadent and I would say made to perfection. We ordered the Cheesy Bread, which should have a picture next to it on the menu because it is incredible. You can't come here and not get it. We also had the beet salad and orecchiette with house made Italian sausage and I can't even describe how amazing it was. I would drive the 2 hrs to eat at this restaurant any day. Wow wow!! The vibes here were incredible. The location and the ambiance were perfect for Lake Arrowhead. We made reservations via email and arrived on time. Unfortunately the party before us arrived late, but the staff and our waiter were so apologetic and kind and it really felt like no problem at all. We ordered Shirley temples and they were some of the best I've had. They even had 5 cherries at the bottom! The best part! Food wise we ordered the steak frites, the short rib, the shrimp and grits, and the little ears pasta. They were all great but the steak frites were truly EXCEPTIONAL. The only picture I was able to capture was my completely clean plate after ravaging it. The duck fries completely lived up to the hype. Dessert wise we got the crème brûlée which was pretty standard and good and our waiter suggested donuts and coffee, which we've never had and LOVED. So light and not too sweet. I would say this place is good but not great. I went with my mom and aunt and I got the steak and fires. The fries honestly seemed almost like the bottom of the pile and kind of old but the steak was really good and perfectly cooked. Both items were and little too salty. My mom got the prime rib special and loved it. My aunt got the half chicken and it looked good but she said it was all too salty. The place is cute and service is good. 5 stars is not enough. 1st of all, Jennifer was so wonderful, she has an infectious energy that made our entire night, I literally want her to come to our wedding. 2nd, the food. ARE YOU KIDDING!? It was phenomenal, everything we had was absolutely fantastic. We sat at the bar and got to watch all the food go out and every single dish was beautifully plated and looked so good. We had the Caesar salad, wedge salad and the steak frites. The Caesar salad was awesome the croutons were perfect and the dressing was wonderfully citrusy. The wedge was also incredible. The blue cheese was perfect and the pickled onions added a touch of sweetness that all together made for a perfect salad. I probably couldn't have finished it faster. Now... the steak frites... SO DANG GOOD. Perfectly cooked and the steak sat on top of the fries so they got a little juicy from the butter and steak, it was awesome... the garlic aioli on the side was also awesome. And for dessert we got the crème brûlée which was obviously also incredible. You can tell the chef really cares about the food he puts out and it was really cool to watch. Lastly the overall vibe of the place was just perfect, very warm I love that they give the checks out in old books and encourage you to doodle inside. As someone from San Diego, where outstanding dining options are everywhere, I can confidently say this spot is exceptional and one I genuinely look forward to visiting whenever I'm in the Lake Arrowhead area. A small, cozy, lively little place set near one of the local crossroads to the Lake Arrowhead community, this is a fine place to enjoy a broad range of cuisine. As a native New Orleanian, normally I avoid "New Orleans style" foods when I'm not in the 504. As a service to Yelp! readers I decided to set aside that policy and order "BBQ Shrimp and Grits" just to see how bad it would be. (BBQ Shrimp and Shrimp and Grits each have a unique flavor profile and so I wondered how these would go together.) Well, just like the nearby lake, we'll be dammed and damned if it wasn't delicious. The chef captured these essence of both BBQ shrimp (hint: has nothing to do with Texas) and shrimp and grits. I would have had my foot in my mouth had it not been filled with the creamy and deliciously cheesy (just like my reviews!) grits, a generous cluster of shrimp, and fresh green onions that suited the dish to a T, with or without Booker and M.G.s. (I'll end this excruciating paragraph and move on....) Service was tight and efficient, and they were at quite a disadvantage as our party, assembled for a wedding, numbered around 20 or what looked to be about a third of the available seating. Everyone was served promptly and they kept the water glasses full and wine coming. (Most of us did submit orders in advance so that the kitchen could plan accordingly.) The seafood pots that some of us selected drew some well-founded envious glances. Quite a bit of "I can't finish this" and "would you like a taste" was going around our table, so I can say with authority that everything from the chicken to the curry to the seafood pot to the shrimp n'grits was delicious. The desserts were excellent, most interesting being a berry based ice cream with a truly different flavor, off the beaten path but on target. read more
