Met some friends for Happy Hour at Outriggers on Monday, July 1st. I had called that afternoon to and specifically asked if Happy Hour was also outside on the deck and that Happy Hour food specials were also offered on the deck. The gal on the phone said it was. Four of us arrived and had to go to the bar inside to get drinks - not that big of a deal. When I went in I ordered my drink and then asked if I could take Happy Hour menu outside. Bartender told me Happy Hour food was not offered outside. Back and forth. Asked for manager. Manager admitted that the employee that told me that was new and gave me incorrect information. I asked if she would honor it as the only reason we went there was for Happy Hour deal. Long story short - they would not honor even though there was only 1 other table on deck so we left and went to another restaurant in Stratford on the water. Emailed Outriggers next day and never hear back!!!! Wowza, really? Worst customer service - no apologies no nothing. There are other restaurants that will be polite and have good customer service - Never going back and spreading the word! read more

Food was great & the view was Perfect! The sea bass was cooked to perfection and the churros were so Yummy! I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone- The tables outside were spaced appropriately, if there is a concern. Looking forward to dining there again. read more

We have dined at and ordered take-out from Outriggers several times over the past few weeks. Each time, the food and service have been excellent! The whole belly clams are exceptional! The setting is gorgeous, overlooking the marina. The ambience of both the indoor and outdoor dining areas is delightful. Service and quality are consistent with each visit. We have been so pleased with our experiences that we recently chose Outriggers as the destination to celebrate our wedding anniversary. read more

If you're older, this is probably the best place for you. As a person in their 20s and with a group of people that are close in age, the live music wasn't the most amazing. This place is a GEM. We were in town for a wedding, and drove all the way from Baltimore. We were hungry, we wanted seafood, and we wanted to look at something other than cars for a while. We happened upon this place when we pulled into a marina to sneak a look at some sailboats (we're addicted), and decided to stay and eat on their beautiful and large deck overlooking the marina. We were wary of coming in here because of the bad reviews about service. I can absolutely see how those are valid. We were ignored by a GAGGLE of waitresses inside, and told to go to the opposite side of the dining room to see a hostess. We were seated outside, and promptly told that we'd need to squeeze into the bar to enjoy the happy hour specials (I HATE when places do this. it's absolutely bullcrap and puts a bad taste in customers' mouths). We were going to do exactly that and not order off the regular menu, but the amazing bartender RJ stepped up, set up a "bar table" for us, and was an absolute ROCK STAR server all evening. Seriously, this guy handled our crazy party and an entire bar of patrons alone, and was friendly, chatty, and good-natured all evening. Give that man a trophy. The food was amazing and fresh. We started with 2 dozen oyzters and liked them so much, we ordered a 3rd dozen and some raw clams on the halfshell and some shrimp. All the seafood was off-the-boat fresh, juicy, and wonderfully salty. My brother also enjoyed the chicken wings, and my mom and dad split a chicken quesadilla, which they said was well-made. For dinner (we were still sooo hungry after a long drive), my boytoy and I had lobster rolls, mine with regular fries and his with sweet potato fries. Let me tell you, this was some of the freshest, sweetest lobster meat I've ever had. The roll was HUGE, and a lot of the meat wouldn't even fit on the roll. The rolls also weren't drenched in butter; there was a buttery sauce lightly spread ont he toasted roll, which only enhanced the natural flavors. My dad had the clam roll, which was equally as good as the lobster rolls, and my brother and mom split the fried clam platter. Those clams were also some of the best I've ever had. coming from the Chesapeake region, and spending most of our time on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, we are not easily impressed. The place can feel a little too small sometimes but is wonderful when the deck is open - I definitely recommend trying one of their luncheon specials as they have been consistently great each time that I've had the opportunity to visit. I have been to Outriggers a handful of times because my grandfather loves it. I've never been overly impressed with this restaurant, mostly just "Meh." like the two stars would denote. The last time my family and I were here we had a late lunch/early dinner from 3:00-5:30 inside the main dining room. When we got there it was pouring so sitting outside was not an option. As our meal went on the rest of the diners in the main room finished their meals and left while everyone else coming in to the restaurant asked to be seated outside since the rain stopped and the sun was shining. This led to us being the only party in the whole room. With no one else but the seven of us seated all the way to one end of the room, the staff got really loud. They all seemed to congregate by the end of the bar next to the double doors you enter in from. This isn't the nicest restaurant in the world (or even Stratford for that matter) but it shouldn't start to sound like a sports bar because most of the patrons are outside. The service is so-so. Our server was great last time, but I've had others who weren't. Luck of the draw, I guess. The food is, once again, meh. read more

Stopped in with girlfriend for dinner. Only 1 other table with people sitting. Waited for 20 minutes be fore someone came to table after 3 people walked by. Food is nothing special at all. As we were leaving 1 of the help made a derogatory statement in Spanish directed at me. My girlfriend overheard and questioned the person what he said. He denied it of course saying he was talking about someone else. I told him what I thought and he still denied it the coward that he is. Needless to say we won't go there again. Picked a wonderful night to go here, on a whim. Place was packed, but there were two seats at the bar. Bar staff was a bit slow because they were swamped with customers. Came in for a reservation at 7:30 on a quiet Wednesday, not busy server came over to our reserved table for 15 minutes until I alerted the hostess, okay understandable. My friend ordered the lobster bisque, never received it, okay then. We were barely checked on despite there not being many people here at all, it took 10 minutes to get more water brought to the table. Once we got the check, the lobster bisque was still on the check and the waitress didn't notice she never brought it out and that she still charged us, so we alerted her to it. Overall not great service at all on a not busy night, disappointing. Pretty place but won't be coming back! read more

We went again to Outriggers for our 40th Anniversary and I am happy to say we had a great time. The service was great. The waitress brought a sample of the wine for me to taste before we bought the whole bottle. The oysters and Steamers were delicious as well as The Lamb and Seafood on Linguine that my husband ordered. There was a band on Sunday night which was playing so loud I couldn't hear my daughter but when we told the waitress to ask them to turn it down she did and they did. Then the evening was perfect. Not sure why there's so much hate for this place. It's not the most amazing restaurant I've ever been to, but decent seafood with $10-$15 entrees and tables right on the water? Okay in my book. Most recently, I had the crab cakes (very good), calamari (average), mussels (like licking the ocean), and the Mexican wrap (bueno). Very, very good food here. Excellent seafood specials, well presented and plentiful. Looking for a great app? Try the mussels. They are served in a delicious sauce with wine and tomatoes. I've visited this restaurant four times. The bread that they serve prior to dinner is bland, and it almost tastes like it's out of the freezer section. Even the butter is bland. The first time I had baked stuffed shrimp which was pretty good, although the stuffing was dry. I covered it with drawn butter. The second time I ordered pan seared chilean sea bass with lobster and corn hash...dear Lord was it good! The fish was cooked perfectly, and the portion was reasonable for the $26 price tag. The last time I visited I ordered lobster bisque and a lobster roll. The bisque was very salty, and the lobster roll (and serving of french fries) was sparse considering the $18 price. The roll tasted like they just dumped the lobster out of the can and poured loads of butter on top. I didn't sense that real care was taken with the dish. I was there with a group of approx. 15 - 18 people, and we let them know days ahead of time. They just didn't seem prepared for the group, and the reviews varied. This was the last time I visited, and I would only visit again for the chilean sea bass, but unfortunately, it's no longer on their menu. I don't think most of the dishes on the menu are worth the price, but when you find a hit, stick with it. read more

I went to Outriggers for the first time this past Sunday with my brother and my fiancé. The waiter we had was absolutely terrible... it took fifteen+ minutes after we received our drinks for him to return to our table to take our food order. After we received our food, it took him another fifteen+ minutes to return to our table so we could order a second round of drinks. We noticed several other tables having problems with our waiter as well, and a second waiter (who looks quite a bit like Robert Pattinson) took it upon himself to step in. The service was so bad I wish we could have tipped the second waiter instead of the one who was assigned to our table. But on to the food: my brother and I both ordered the lobster roll, which was not worth the $16.95 we paid for it. Not only was it unbelievably small, but the lobster was horrendously overcooked to the point that it was spongy and took quite a bit of chewing. It was also very bland tasting and dry, lacking spices or mayo or anything else to make it more palatable. The fries that came with our lunches were soggy and very small portion-wise as well. My fiancé ordered the crab cake sandwich, which was okay if you don't want crab and just want whatever they use as filler... breading and bits of peppers. I would definitely not go back, especially considering the amount of the bill for the terrible experience we had. read more

This place was really good! My fiancé and I came here for the first time and we were really impressed. I ordered chicken francaise and he ordered the ribeye-both were absolutely delicious! Our server was very nice and we were able to sit outside on the deck overlooking the water. We will definitely be returning for another date night! I grew up in CT and whenever I visit my family back in CT, Outriggers is one of our go-tos. The seating outside is really great, and they had live musicians when we went this past Sunday. If you want a/c, they do have nice indoor seating as well. Most meals I've had here have been great. I LOVE their lobster bisque. We had oysters and steamers on Sunday and they were both fantastic. I love that the meals come with a salad. Their blue cheese dressing is awesome. The rolls are delicious. My mom said the lamb chops were awesome. The mashed potatoes are so good. Lots of positives here, as you can see. You should check this place out for sure. read more

Disgusting!!! Terrible is too kind to describe the food and service here. The outdoor seating and views are terrific. Order a beer, enjoy the view but go somewhere else to eat. The seafood is old. Not fresh tasting at all. If you must, order something fried to kill the fishy taste and pray that you don't get sick. Service is pretty bad. Waitresses who don't know the menu and are very slow. The interior is dirty. Very dirty. I wouldn't sit down inside - let alone eat inside. I'm pretty sure this place will be shut down soon read more

Fish is delicious, service is very nice. The Chilean seabass was available and really delicate. However, the crab stuffing that came with it should be eaten separately in order to appreciate both. Fresh seafood during the summer months, since it is located at a Marina and gets alot of traffic, during the winter however, this place might as well shut down. The outdoor patio is my spot of choice during the summer with a glass of wine and a nice piece of fish. I am not in love with this place, but I once had an amazing piece of Orange Roughy ( my fave fish) and I will continue to come back here to find it again! I always reccomend the Lobster Bisque and the Fried Calamari and a glass of wine. Come here for the atmosphere, not to stuff your face. read more

Our server was great. The rest of my party's experience was not - especially considering that whoever runs this establishment's social media account "corrected" someone in my party with an, "I'm sorry, but...[this is your party's fault]" when responding to the person's Facebook review. This appears to be a common behavior when responding to reviews. My cousin made a reservation for our party of about 15 for a family reunion. The staff communicated that we could have the tables for something like 2.5 or 3 hours maximum. Just before placing our orders for appetizers, we were all informed that they would be switching to the dinner menu in about five minutes, so we should place our orders on the current menu ASAP - and no, we couldn't just switch to the dinner menu. OK, cool... My appetizer (tuna tataki, $14) was pretty standard. While I have no real complaints, I'll say that the portion was fairly meager for the price. I wouldn't come here just to get this again. My entree came with a salad, which resembled something unexciting you'd get from a packaged salad. Under other circumstances, this was a detail I could overlook. For my entree, I was excited to order the pasta fra diavolo. My mouth, however, was not excited when I dug in and crunched into tomato-flavored sand. I figured that my first bite was a fluke. (Spoilers: it wasn't.) In no way am I exaggerating when I say that half of my $25 dish was utterly inedible (the sand had found its way from the seafood directly into the sauce), which was really disappointing, since this is an establishment that boasts numerous seafood dishes in a waterfront-themed space and is in a prime location ON THE WATER. Anyway, we were rushed through the dessert course (I can't comment on the dessert because I didn't order any). Before my party was even finished, we were informed in a very agitated tone by who I'll assume was a manager that we had "under, like, five more minutes," and that we had to wrap it up, because they needed to flip the tables. Automatically, a party of 15 people doesn't walk out with a small bill, so I feel this was really poor etiquette on management's part - especially considering that the place wasn't packed, and it didn't appear that more parties were really waiting to be seated. I understand that another reservation just hadn't arrived yet. I think my party was mostly frustrated because it wasn't as though we took an excessively long time to eat our food when it came out - it just took a hot minute to actually be delivered after we'd ordered it - and that the person who announced that we needed to leave was very brusque. I don't know. Rude. I wouldn't recommend coming here, unless you want to eat food that I don't feel is worth the cost and to sink into your seat because management says that you've apparently taken too long to eat. read more

Woof. Should have looked at yelp before we made the reservations. Made the reservation for 8 people at 6:30pm on a Thursday. Our party arrives on time (my mother and I arrive 10 min late but everyone is already seated. Totally fine) Everyone has drinks already and we then we order ours (gin & tonic & a Seabreeze. Both fine) We order. And goodness here we go.... We order at bout 6:45. "Salads" come 20 min later. I dont know if you can constitute 5 pieces of wilted lettuce with 1 cherry tomatoes half a ring of red pepper as a salad though. 90 min later we finally get our food. WOOF. Aunt got the Risotto: runny Uncle got the halibet: over cooked super tough. Cousin got the penne alla vodka: it was like soup. The 'sauce' was red/order water. And the chicken in it was really spicy I got the stuffed sole: had ZERO flavor. And the mash potatoes had no salt. (Aunt, mother, cousin & grandmother enjoyed their food -tuna, Salmon salad, steak, flatbread) so 50/50 on food enjoyment. The service was garbage throughout. Took 15-20 min to get a drink refill. The lobster roll was disgusting. It was over cooked and did not taste fresh at all. Usually lobster has a juicy and sweet taste when this lobster roll was dry with no flavor. The shell of the lobster was mixed in with the lobster meat. The fries were not crispy at all. Very unimpressed. Despite the reviews I gave the restaurant a chance and I was disappointed that I did. My group of 8 had a reservation for 8:00. Once we all arrived we had to wait until 8:20 to be seated. Once seated we waited probably 10 minutes for the waiter to come, and then another hour for our food where two orders were wrong. All of our food was caked in pepper and over cooked. We were seated outside when some bad weather started - we were directed to a table inside - but no staff helped us move our plates, cups, or silverware so we all had to take multiple trips while the wait staff watched. Once inside, it seemed our server forgot about us as our plates were never picked up and our waters were never refilled. We had to go to the hostess to get our check which was very expensive considering the subpar service and food we received. We had a party of five last night. Everyone's food was delicious. Lobster roll, stuffed shrimp, salmon Caesar salad. We had two vegetarians with us. The menu doesn't have many vegetarian entrées but the wait staff and chef were very agreeable to make one of their entrees without the meat. Everyone happy. read more

We have been supporting the restaurant since they reopened and prior to that last May 2020. Going there at least once every two weeks whether lunch or dinner. We went there this evening they have happy hour from 3-6pm. The bar was packed not a seat to be had. We sat outside waiting for a table to open up inside. I have been there before and if they have no room inside they would serve us outside for happy hour prices. We agreed to side outside due to the new delta virant in the 95 plus degree heat. I went up to the bar and got 2 happy hour wines and we were going to order from the regular menu. The owners daught sold me 2 happy hour wines and we ordered from the main menu. I went to purchase 2 more wines since the inside bar was packed and the bartender ( the owners daughter) said no we cannot serve you the happy hour price because you are sitting outside I said I just purchased 2 wines from you. She said no you are sitting outside . There was another couple she did let purchase drinks at happy hour prices and sit outside. She was very rude to me. I said okay I will pay you full price she said no and pointed her finer at me. Very rude and the food is not that great either. The only oce person there was Lalo the waiter who apologized for her bad behavior. I dont think we will be going there anytime soon. read more

I loved my experience at Outriggers and I frequent this place whenever I want a beautiful dining experience overlooking the Housatonic River. The food was delicious and the service amazing.
