We ate here on Mother's Day and they had a steady stream of customers. A special Mother's day menu appeared to be a limited menu designed to speed up the kitchen by keeping the kitchen focused on fewer dishes to handle the higher than normal customer counts that can be expected on this particular celebratory Sunday. The hostess, wait staff and bartenders were all excellent and provided great service with a smile. The location on the water is a fantastic spot, particularly during the warm weather months if you like to be near to the Marina. My wife and I ordered the New England clam chowder to start, which came out right away and was delicious. Our entrees unfortunately took a very long time to come out from the kitchen from the time that we placed our orders. It was just over 45 minutes. This appeared to be a kitchen staffing issue as we saw several other tables having a similar issue. We both ordered the stuffed sole which came with mashed potatoes and vegetables. We were disappointed with the ratio of fish to stuffing in that they were using smaller, thin strips of sole, wrapped around larger portion of stuffing. The stuffing was mostly bread stuffing and it was not so flavorful. So, while we were served plenty of mashed potatoes and stuffing, the fish portion seemed very small. We plan to try Outriggers again when they are offering their full menu as it really is a lovely place with friendly waiters and waitresses , who repeatedly apologized to us for the slow kitchen on this particular day. read more

Service was outstanding! Food not so much. I actually went twice in the past couple of weeks to enjoy outdoor dining on the water. The first time I tried the special of soft shelled crab. It was served fried on two thick slices of toast . The breading had no flavor. The toast wasn't buttered. And, my drink a simple Mojito was missing muddled mint. Additionally, on the way out I stopped to use the ladi restroom. It was out of order and a patron advised us not to use the men's restroom either. The next time I tried the blackened fish tacos with mango and avocado. The fish was like leather, so dried out that it was a waste of fresh mango and avocado. Also, I'm not really sure why they add a bunch of purple cabbage as it's just a mess to eat. This place has a beautiful location on the water, it's too bad the food isn't good. read more

This time, while our server was friendly, the service was painfully SLOW. Appetizer dishes not cleared when entrees arrived so extra flies.. Red wine served HOT. Music was a bit loud but OMG when the DJ arrived it was UNBEARABLE, like my glass on the table was shaking. We could not talk and hear each other. And the DJ brought a fan that he pointed towards the diners on the deck so wind blowing at as. Ordered a "Greek" salad with a medium rare steak . The order came with no dressing on the salad at all. (Not a big deal). However, it was not a busy night with many open tables. The wait staff brought the dressing 1/4 of the way through the others eating the meal (not his fault) and the dressing was horrible. It tasted as if the oil was rancid. This was the lemon dressing for the Greek salad. The steak was medium well not medium rare and was cool and dry. Other members of my party had complaints about the food. This absolute last time .. my wife and I wanted to grab a quick meal and sit outside . I get it it's a Friday night and it's tough to get a table outside at 5:30/6. We were sat inside .... 10mins go by, no water no server , 15.. no water no server.. ahhh 20 mins.. server comes by. No introduction .. " what are having ( drinks). Waitress suggested the wrong drink ( my wife orders a seltzer drink lemonade thinking it would be carbonated) .. my wife wasn't pleased when it was a flat beverage. Ok no complaints just enjoy what it is. " hey could we have glass " , server says. Sure . That never appeared , Guess what no glass. I got up and borrowed a clean one from another table . I ordered the special ( steak frites medium rare.)and my wife ordered a Greek salad. With my steak I ordered a house Cabernet. Also to note ... no water was served .. had to ask for it twice. Cmon OUTRIGGERS this is SOP of restaurant etiquette!! We get our orders .... Steak was WELL DONE , my wife's Greek Salad had no dressing on it.. DRY and tasteless .. so was the steak .. overcooked and tasteless. My Cabernet never came.. asked the server again and she said it will be here . Nope I ended up going to the bar and getting it myself . I couldn't wait to get out of there. Food was ehh , server literally sucked. Used to be a favorite spot but had one of the worst dining experiences ever on Sunday. Fried clams were served raw. And we couldn't even send them back because the waiter literally never spoke to us after taking our order. We asked another server to get him for us and a third person brought our check. Spoke to the manager and he seemed unphased. Don't think we could ever bring ourselves to go back it was such a bad experience unfortunately. read more

Outriggers (under the prior ownership) had been sadly going downhill for years and frankly we stopped visiting a few years back because it was so often (but not always) disappointing. It's a great setting apart from the bugs outside at sunset. We've never had a bad meal, just several that didn't live up to their descriptions on the menu or the potential of their ingredients. So when we learned that there was a new owner we were hopeful that things could improve. Happily they have. There's still some easy room for improvement but overall we had a meal that would encourage us to return and tell others to give it a new try. It was a quiet Thursday night so we sat at our favorite table in the bar. The decorations were very nice and gave it a wonderful magical atmosphere. We were greeted by a friendly person at the door that I suspect could be an owner. It was too slow to justify paying a host/hostess. That told me that there was a good chance an owner was on site and watching over things, always a good sign. We were served by the bartender. Service was excellent. Wine by the glass selections covered all the major bases, including Caymus ($175/bottle) for someone who wants to splurge. The wine by the glass options demonstrated that the buyer knew something about wine. The beer selection also covered all the bases including Maine Beer Company's Lunch which is always a winner and demonstrates that their liquor buyer knows something about beer as well. There's only one place in town that regularly includes it in their offerings. I have a few friends that will add them to their happy hour lists when I tell them about it. Dinner specials were interesting with again every base covered. Appetizer options (both specials and menu) were excellent. We could have spent the evening ordering serial appetizers (and probably will on a return visit). We tried the blackened scallops with gorgonzola (special) and the mussels (menu). The scallops were incredible. They could be a dinner option if a larger portion. I will order these whenever I see them available here. One of the best appetizers I've enjoyed in a while. The mussels were pretty good. They were on the small side but this time of year you kind of get what you get for mussels. The broth was pretty good with sundried tomatoes in in for a bit of a unique twist. Also unique were a couple tiny bottles of Tabasco which I tried and it wasn't bad. I probably wouldn't look for it every time I order mussels but it was a nice change of pace. They did whiff completely by not including toast points or bread. I don't think I've ever had mussels without either of them. If management reads this I would very highly recommend changing that. We just went with what they gave us but in the summer you should expect quite a few people to ask for it. Also on the specials last night were lamb lollipops for an appetizer and fried whole bellies for an entree. You don't see the whole bellies very often in winter so that was a surprise option. Hopefully they will still have them when we return. We had the Baja Fish Tacos which were very good and the Blackened Swordfish (special) which was also good. I was going to have the blackened salmon off the menu but decided to go with the special. It came with julienne veggies (squash and carrots) which were good and very good mashed potatoes. If available I would have put a bit of butter of the veggies and mashed potatoes and a pat on the swordfish. but that's how I cook and it was enjoyable and healthier without. The food arrived on a perfect pace and was well presented. Really, there has been a decent upgrade from the prior ownership and Outriggers deserves a try if you, like me, haven't visited for a while. There are a lot of interesting menu items to consider. Some that I'm recalling include: Coconut shrimp Tuna poke nachos Octopus salad (definitely trying this next time) Surf and turf tacos Portobello tacos Stuffed sole Captain's platter Salads with choice of proteins (incl Scallops which is awesome!) Some further observations: I think this menu is evolutionary as there are a few obvious misses. For example they have a chicken club (named yacht club which is an awesome name!) with bacon on it but don't offer bacon for the cheeseburger. They offer what looks like an excellent Captains platter with all the fried seafood but don't offer those fried seafood options individually. They offer that hot lobster roll that CT people inexplicably love but not a cold option (that people with more refined taste enjoy!). Yeah, coming from Maine I have a wicked lobster roll bias. So the bottom line is that Outriggers is absolutely worth a try. Forget about your past experiences. It's a brand new day at Outriggers today. We can't wait to return and being from the area this will definitely be a regular spot that we will look forward to visiting on a regular basis. Hope to see you there! read more

Our group of three met for drinks / dinner at Outriggers on a late Saturday afternoon. We were promptly greeted & decided to sit at the bar. The new owners have done a nice job bringing a little holiday cheer into the place with tastefully placed decorations & bouncy holiday tunes. The location of Outriggers is in a marina area & probably pulls in many thirsty customers returning from a day out on the sound when the seasons allow. Outriggers has beers on tap, they do a week day happy hour & they offer dining specials. Their bar area is comfortable & they keep the 2 TV's in the bar turned down low. With our drinks we ordered starters of raw littleneck clams, a side of perfectly fried onion rings & grilled Lolli-pop lamb chops atop a generous puddle of what I think was a savory strawberry sauce. The lamb chop plate was dressed up with a little bit of spring mix salad on the side. The lamb chops were delicious without the sauce; not sure the sauce worked with the lamb but the little salad was improve by its presence. Perhaps less sauce might be more welcome. Our clams on the half shell were briny; the cocktail sauce in attendance could've used more horseradish kick. On to entrees. My companions ordered a fried cod taco plate & mahi mahi taco plate & they were presented nicely & came with excellent shoestring fries. I sampled the cod & found it fresh & properly fried but the fry mixture seemed devoid of any seasoning; thus the toppings of red cabbage slaw & pickled jalapeños overwhelmed the fish. More Salt & cayenne in the fry mix & maybe a more assertive aioli would help. I'd love to see the new owners offer raw bar at happy hour prices, add a carnivore's nacho plate, a spicy chili con carne to the soups & spice up their fish fry a bit. read more

Wow, what an accidental find! Under new ownership by a sweet couple, Nautis & Dinah. The cutest restaurant located right on the water by a marina. When we walked in we were immediately drawn to the beautiful Christmas decorations. Three different staff members welcomed us. Brianna (bartender) is so open and friendly while being very professional. She offered us menus and took our drink order. We ultimately tried the Surf n Turf Tacos minus the Surf lol as I didn't want shrimp. Presentation was gorgeous and we really enjoyed all the fresh flavor and especially the crunch of the red cabbage (see pictures). We added fresh jalapeños to them but they were a bit mild so for heat lovers, I recommend the restaurant order a few hot sauces. Green Tabasco would be great as it is milder but hot enough. Mexico Lindo has sauces of varying heat levels, tasty and inexpensive. The restaurant offers happy hour M-F 3-6 pm with $5 house wine (Mondavi) and select beers, $8 margaritas and $3 Ole Smokey shots. The service is very attentive and sincere which is rare up here with newcomers lol. Go with complete confidence. One thing of note is the absolutely amazing outdoor patio and bar. They offer heaters for fall/spring coolness. You are literally looking at the gorgeous boats/yachts and the water. So peaceful. Upstairs is available for private parties and very reasonable. Today an animal group was using it so no pictures, but look for them on another visit. Beautiful restaurant, great food and uber friendly service. read more

We have been going here for years- loved the food, location and nice live music. It is always on my calendar when summer starts. What a disappointment it was! I didn't know it had new ownership, not sure that was the reason. The lovely live music was replaced by a DJ playing house music that was so loud and jarring it gave me a headache. I had to send my Mojito back it was so bad. We waited an hour for our appetizers- clams casino was burnt and my side salad consisted of a handful of lettuce, one grape tomato, two little olives and some onion. And it was not included like before. By the time we got dinner I was ready to leave. One star would be appropriate, but the server was trying so hard to make things right. The sunset was beautiful, but we will be enjoying it from somewhere else next time read more

Not at all impressed! We wanted to like it- beautiful location, new ownership. Service super slow. Food just sub-par. Had to have one of the swordfish specials re-done. It was very thin and very overcooked. Scallops had absolutely no flavor and were overly chewy. The other 2 swordfish specials weren't great, but a little more edible. Ran out of rice but never let us know. Baked potato very shriveled and dry. Had to request some butter and sour cream. Just not a good experience. Bill came to roughly $143 per couple- tip included. Very dissatisfied with service. The employee lost my friends credit card and put her tab on my credit card without even asking . We were told we could only stay for 2 hours . When you have a band playing from 6:00 to 9:00 people are expected to stay longer . The table of 10 next to us never received their food they never got served they just got up and left . read more

We had lunch there recently. It was a first one for me, since I've lived out of state for the past 30 years. The setting is great and we both thought the food was very good. With that said, there's a couple of things that we noticed that could have made it great, if they just paid attention to detail - the raw clams were not separated from the shells. I had the linguine and clams. They did not include any bread with the order, so I wasn't able to soak up all that great white wine broth. I have never ordered a pasta dish where bread wasn't included. I mean, would it kill them to include a piece of either toasted or garlic bread? Like I said very good, but needs some attention to details that would make them great! read more

The new owners at Outriggers Restaurant are doing a wonderful job with both the food and service. I've been there three times since December, and it has gone from very good to excellent. They've also expanded the menu to appeal not only to seafood lovers but also to those who don't eat fish, with more land-based options available. There's truly something for everyone. So here it is Food was just ok Burger came out well done and dry. Mozz sticks weren't cooked all the way . Scallops were tiny and obviously frozen not fresh. Nachos did not have enough cheese for anyone . No one was happy with their food . The drinks from bar tiny glass not enough . The service was terrible and there was hardly anyone in there and I mean one other table that's it . But 4 wait staff standing around talking while we waited for service . Will not be back. They also should make sure you know that 20% tip is already added - this is so wrong . So the staff can suck as ours did and still get 20%. Not only that we didn't know at first and one of my friends tipped double only because she didn't know, and I told her and she grabbed hers back and scribbled it off just in time . 6 of us will never be back . read more

Excellent customer service. The hot lobster roll with fries was very fresh and delicious. We also had a 6oz. Angus burger which was excellent. The ambiance was very pleasant. Definitely a one and done. Deck is overcrowded and therefore noisy. The noise is made worse by a person singing with recorded music in the background kind of like a karaoke thing. The good news was that he took a break for 20 minutes or so and at least then you could hear the people at your table enough to have some conversation without the annoying boom boom, boom of the over, amplified, bass competing with your conversation. The food was very average at best with small portions and un interesting preparation. The saving Grace of the place is that the servers and hostesses are extremely nice. ( mostly college age kids and clearly not professionals in the field). Oh, ok, and if you feel like you have to be looking at boats and some water well, it is there. read more
