Then, we connected with Amy at Outside Dreams. From our first meeting, it was clear that she knew what she was talking about. She listened to our goals and perspectives and was invested in giving us an outstanding finished product. From that first meeting until the end of our project, she delivered everything she promised. Amy was great to work with from a design perspective and understood our desire to have a fun but low-maintenance yard. One of the things we loved about Outside Dreams was that they are a one-stop shop. We didn't want to coordinate between a fence builder, a sprinkler person, a company that does hard-scaping, a landscaper, and a junk removal company. Instead, Outside Dreams handled all of it for us, which was a huge relief because it ensured smooth coordination, communication, and accountability. The crew from Outside Dreams was unbelievable. They worked so hard, starting by 8:00 every day, and were diligent and meticulous in their work. They were respectful, communicated well with us, and cleaned up the yard every day before leaving. It was the same friendly team every day, and the great communication up and down the organization made the entire process seamless. Their workmanship and work ethic were outstanding, and they had the expertise to do all of the *many* tasks involved. The quality and quantity of materials Outside Dreams used were impressive. They did not skimp on anything, especially the cedar mulch, which they generously applied. The plants and sod they used were top-notch, and everything has grown in beautifully. They built us three raised beds with micro-sprayers, and we are now growing a bumper crop of vegetables! The trellis they designed and built, complete with three beautiful clematis vines, adds a stunning focal point to our yard. They also planted trees and shrubs on a drip line that runs as a station on our sprinklers, ensuring everything gets the right amount of water. Outside Dreams' attention to detail was evident in every aspect of the project. From the careful placement of plants to the meticulous installation of the irrigation system, nothing was overlooked. Admittedly, the only thing that gave me any pause was that he doesn't have many reviews- don't let that deter you!! Nick gave us an incredible design and worked with us to revise and phase it out for budget purposes. We completed phase 1 of the work with him this spring (deck demo and paver patio install) and it was absolutely seamless. From tweaking design to picking materials, Nick was always accessible and a great communicator. His crew worked quickly and efficiently and we are SO thrilled with our new outdoor space. Our project…read moreincluded design services, complete removal of existing backyard landscaping and patio, save for one tree, pouring of a new concrete patio and hot tub pad, installation of a gas fire pit and gas line for our grill, new sod, 5 large trees, around 20 plants, and a new irrigation system to include new valves and lines. Many aspects of the project fell short, and if you don't want to read any further, my recommendation is to look elsewhere for your landscaping needs. Pros -Very solid design work, our backyard originally looked great and the design is much more functional and private. Cons -Patio: the subcontractor ran short on concrete and I witnessed them pulling what was left from the pump lines and a catch tray to complete the project. The result is a portion of our patio that has incorrect drainage/pooling, spalling and cracking. -Irrigation: and entirely new system, including valves, was supposed to be installed. None of the valves were replaced and I am now having significant problems that will require a complete replacement of the 20 year old valves. -Plants: Nick assured me that the 7 boxwoods he had planned would hold up to my two male dogs. They were dead within 3 months, replaced under his warranty, and were all dead again the following spring. In researching, it turns out that boxwoods are not tolerant of dog urine whatsoever and something else should have been used. -Fire pit: beautiful centerpiece in our backyard. Unfortunately, it was slammed together at the last minute and the internal structure couldn't support the lava rock. I rebuilt it myself less than 6 months after the project was completed. Lawn: extremely lumpy and uneven, is going to require a bunch of sand and labor to get it where it needs to be. I spoke with Nick many times after our project was completed to address some of these issues (not all were immediately present or known about) and was brushed off and made to feel like I was putting him out...after cutting him a check for $60k. Not only is the value not there, I am now paying a second time for things that weren't done correctly the first time and in some case were borderline fraudulent like the sprinkler valves.

When he fertilized my lawn, instead of applying fertilizer only to the grass, he drove the fertilizer spreader all over my new concrete walkways, leaving dozens of ugly rust stains everywhere. I have spent hundreds of dollars on power washing and other attempts to resolve it and such attempts have made the problem worse, so I now have rust + discoloration all over my walkways, which is a major eyesore. It will cost me many thousands of dollars to fix this problem that Dan caused, since I will need to rip out and reinstall 3 new concrete pathways and a giant patio. Dan's response was extremely disappointing, he did not take responsibility and there was 0 concern or effort to fix the problem. I would caution against using Dan if you want someone who is thoughtful and careful on your property. I hope this review will ensure this doesn't happen to anyone else.
