At the tail end of 2023, I reached out to Shawnna and Scott with Aiden James Customs. I have a 2015 Subaru Forester that I've built out for overlanding, off-roading, camping, etc. and wanted to install a brand new interior headliner and more importantly, remove the factory roof rails so I could install a Prinsu roof rack. They primarily work on Toyotas, JEEP, and other vehicles but Subaru is...Toyota adjacent. Scott and Shawnna were responsive, quoted the whole thing out and got it done. It was clear they were a smaller business, but I also own a few small companies and I like to support genuine people rather than big corporate shops. Scott used to work Toyota and it's clear he knows his shit and is great at what he does. Then in 2024 I had Scott install a WeBoost cell phone booster, which was great. Fast forward to mid-2026. I had a roof rack rattle I just couldn't figure out. At this point, the shop had merged or been bought but Scott was still involved. Now it's Overland Shop / Shift Auto. Once again Scott took care of it and all was well. Fast forward a few weeks, the rattle came back. Scott took about 2 hours and pulled the headliner down and found the rattle and fixed it. He's a great mechanic and knows his way around vehicles that are built for off-roading. I appreciate Scot and the full team at Overland Shop. The quality of work done by AJC is excellent from my experience and observation; however, as a business owner/operator myself, I have to harshly criticize their lack of communication. They're impossible to reach and will rarely, if ever, return your emails and calls. The shop is terrible with returning messages or confirming appointment times. What everyone is saying regarding their poor communication skills is accurate. Out of all the important customer service attributes for a good business, communication is most important to me. No matter how busy I am, I make it a point to get back and answer every inquiry I receive immediately and I expect similar treatment from other businesses. AJC will always make an excuse for why they haven't returned your messages. I know that there have been personal issues that they've dealt with, but there really is no excuse when it comes to running a good business and customers will only tolerate so much before losing their patience. The owners are genuinely nice people in my opinion, but I can't ethically recommend their business until they can at least improve this aspect of their business. It's an issue for a business, especially when there's a lot of money involved with most of their transactions. Potential customers need to be aware of this as it can cause some serious anxiety when shelling out lots of money for their work and services. read more

FRAUD!!!!! Reached out to the company in April 2024, Finally ordered and paid for 5k worth of parts on July 2nd. Its now October, haven't heard a word from them since.... tried email tried the phone, voicemail... Nothing? I don't understand how they can be in business. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME, because they will waste yours. After I tell them by voicemail and email I wanted to move shops and continue by build elsewhere I was contacted same day by AJC October 3rd finally. I was informed parts have been back ordered blaming other companies. I reached out to the other company October 5th and they have no such order placed with AJC. AJC is the best in the town and absolutely worth the wait. After calling several shops to delete the factory air ride suspension on a Lexus GX460, only AJC guaranteed they could do it without triggering any dash lights. Most shops are familiar with 4Runners or other Toyotas and are hesitating to touch a Lexus. They are a small family owned business so wait times will be longer than most places. Let me start by saying, it's EXTREMELY RARE for me to rate businesses, and I honestly would have to twist my arm not to rate and share my experience that I had over at AJC's. I had previous work done at a shop for installation of a few accessories requiring to be run to the battery and to find out they had butchered the grommet and never sealed it properly made it even more frustrating. Fortunately, I saw AJC's IG and noticed how much care and detail he put into other peoples' rigs. I had reached out to schedule to find how busy they were (which I wasn't really surprised because it's a family owned and ran shop, but I had a gut feeling it would be worth the wait) and boy, was I right! Both Scott and Shawnna were and are extremely helpful from the get go. They're both very knowledgeable and Scott is a wizard when it comes to vehicles. He installed an SPOD, midland radio, fixed the butchered work from the previous shop with the anytime backup camera and sealed the torn grommet that was leaking after car washes/rains. He even realigned my Tacoma's hood (which was off put by the previous shop) and fixed the driver's visor which had been sagging. I was shocked and excited when I received a call the SAME DAY with Mrs. AJC saying he had finished all the work that I was seeking to be finished. I couldn't be more grateful for a set of professionals like the AJC crew. Keep in mind I drove 2 hours there and 2 hours back both the first and the next morning to pick up the vehicle, and I have no regrets at all about it. I got an Open Er Up hatch switch and their patented DRLs installed today and I could tell from Scott's work that he treats his work with a level of detail that you won't find anywhere else. The man is a straight up perfectionist, treating your truck as if it were his own. You'll be hard-pressed to find anyone who got work done here who disagrees with that statement and their following has grown considerably. He works hard at running forums online on T4R and on Facebook. He is an admin to the 5th Gen 4runner Owners page and provides a bunch of help, advice, and sales! While spending hours online helping the community internationally, he does maintain his own shop at the same time. For literally a small one man team, he puts lots of hours and effort into answering virtually any question you ask! He is a no BS kind of guy and will get back to you as soon as he can. I have ordered sliders, roof racks, LEDs, rear hitchgates, and many more items from him online. He does not fabricate anything on his own (yet) due to time, he outsources from others. If Scott feels like he can get you parts cheaper or custom make you a part, he goes out of his way to do something special for you. Do not be discouraged if parts arrive a little later than usual as the vendor themselves may still be making your product! That being said, Scott has always been on top of following up with me and telling me how much longer it'll be. I have had no issues with parts arriving on the time frame he mentions and they all come intact or to a shipping port for pickup. There have been instances where the vendor has forgotten parts or simply have left out items, but when I mentioned it to Scott, BAM! A box is out the next day with additional parts or missing parts. While I may not have had the chance to meet him face to face yet, he has answered all my questions regarding install or opinions on different brands on Facebook Messenger. Brought my 4Runner to Scott to have him fix my Prinsu roof rack. I did the install myself originally but made some mistakes along the way so I needed a professional to take a look at it. Scott and Pat (new guy) were very helpful through the process. Scott explained that I needed new bolts and plus nuts in order correct my issue and he immediately went to work. After looking for a shop for months I've found Aiden James on the gxor page on Facebook and did a little research on the company and saw that Scott has been a tech at Toyota for quite awhile which is what I'm looking for when someone is doing repair work on my car, at first I sent them and email on quote but due to their work load it took them a good min to respond which I wasn't in a hurry to get the repair done, which is a good thing rather most customers would move on but since it wasn't a top priority at the time I just waited and for a email responses which I got a couple a times but as soon as I needed the repair to be done I sent an email and called and they immediately gave me an estimate and a scheduled appointment which was good soon as the appointment was right around the corner I had realized I wasn't going to be able to drop it off at the scheduled time so I called and see if I can drop it off early before opening they were more than happy enough to accommodate with this request so I dropped it off and they were able to complete the full repair the following day with no issues what's so ever, I was really glad I found this place will be bringing my car here for future repairs or modifications. read more

James burned my truck down when I had him wire in some lighting on my 4runner and then tried to screw me over with insurance.

Great excellent fast service. Next door there is a car garage collection i just went to spend my time wile my truck was getting my lift installed. I was happy with the results. Will be coming back soon for more upgrades thanks AJC. read more
