In my opinion, Dr. Owen is one of the best dentists in Orange County, California with a specialty in Oral Surgery. Dr. Owen was highly recommended by my regular dentist to remove a molar. Today he pulled out the tooth with gentleness and expertise. His great office staff helped lower my anxiety and made me feel comfortable throughout the procedure. I was frantic as I was just getting over an infection in my mouth and needed to remove my wisdom teeth asap. I posted a discussion on Yelp and received recommendations on oral surgeons in the area. I had a Delta Dental HMO plan but since it didn't cover anything, I was prepared to pay out of pocket for this. I was highly recommended to Dr. Owen by a fellow Yelper. I had already called 20 other places and checked on pricing and availability. Dr. Owen spoke to me on the phone and explained the entire procedure. He also gave me an estimate on pricing was also available to do the surgery in the time frame I needed so I decided to go to him. His office is clean and comfortable (not scary at all!) His staff were nicest people I have ever met! I went in for a consultation and they took my panoramic X-rays. All of their equipment was new and current with the technology. He gave me a really fair deal on my wisdom teeth, $1590, including local anesthesia and IV drip. Since my wisdom teeth were full bony impactions, it would be a difficult procedure. However, I was paying out of pocket for this so he was generous to let me pay $1590 instead of $1900. Dr. Owen and his staff carefully went over instructions on pre and post surgery care and gave me my prescription of Vicodin and antibiotics in advance to fill. He also gave me extra gauze for my mouth and gave me the option to keep my teeth! I decided to donate them to dental school instead. I returned for the surgery. He and his staff were very professional and treated me with the utmost care. After a long 3 hour surgery, they were able to take 4 wisdom teeth out of my tiny mouth! I was groggy after surgery and my boyfriend drove me home. The first 3 days, I iced with a bag of peas and then heated. I slept a lot, watched movies, drank a lot of protein shakes, smoothies, and kefir. I did not get a lot of swelling in my cheeks as I had thought. It was probably due to the post opt care instructions that I followed to a tee. It has been 9 days since my procedure and I have healed wonderfully! I returned for a follow-up appointment and Dr. Owen checked to see how everything was healing and gave me an irrigation tool. After 9 days, I can eat soft foods, bread, and my jaw is becoming less sore. I am very happy to have found a highly skilled oral surgeon since I have heard horror stories from my friends! Dr. Owen and his staff are the nicest people I have ever met. I was always terrified of going to the dentist but now I am happy to know that there are nice and gentle dentists out there! I love this place. The receptionist and Dr. Owen was amazing from the way they advised me to the walked me downstairs after my surgery and taking time to call me after the surgery to see how I was doing--this place really cares about their patients. I found this place on yelp, and I am very grateful I did. The rates were very reasonable also. Dr. William F. Owen, DDS Oral Maxillofacial Surgeon and staff especially Debbie ARE the Best in my book. I took my 12 year old daughter to there office and she had four Permanent teeth removed for her braces. My daughter said it was her best experience at the dentist. Dr. Owen explained to us the procedure and side effects during our consultation and today the staff and him were amazing and made both me and my daughter fell comfortable. Before the procedure he reviewed what to expect and do after the procedure and asked us if we had any questions. I had a young baby with me and my daughter was still a little out of it and Dr. Owen himself walked her to the car to assist me. To top it off; Dr. Owen made a follow-up call to us to check on my daughter. He said the service we received he does it to all his patients except maybe personally walking them to there car except if needed. Well my daughter is recovering well. Dr. Owen is a Wonderful doctor skillful; very clean and sterile area used during surgery. I have nothing negative to say about Dr. Owen's or his office staff. I had to have my top right wisdom tooth out within the day... I've been holding it off for more than 4 years because I've heard and seen how terrible it can be. Dr Owen, Debbie, and Lil were all very reassuring and helpful throughout the whole entire process. I appreciate the honesty and quickness to help. Dr. Owen and his team removed all 4 of my wisdom teeth while I was awake on 1/12/2018, and they all went above and beyond that I was literally in tears of joy. I went with the local anesthesia and laughing gas route instead of general anesthesia, which initially was a little intimidating... but everyone was so kind and thoughtful from the beginning to end. My case was a bit complicated since I have a small jaw with little room to work with, but Dr. Owen made it seem easy. I can not fully express how every little thing his team did made a big difference for me. From helping me make my own decisions in the beginning, to the courtesy call before the surgery, calming me on the morning of surgery, and checking up on me afterwards. The scariest part were the local anesthesia injections, but they were excellent at distracting me from the pain and guiding me. It was smooth sailing after that. It could be a scary procedure visually if you are not in the right state of mind, but their team is very calm, friendly, and personable. They gave me the option to keep my wisdom teeth (cleaned and bleached), and provided me frozen peas, prescriptions, paper towels, extra gauze, all kinds of goodies. They were very clear with how to make my recovery fast and as easy as possible. More than a week after my surgery, I am feeling great. It has been an experience, and I appreciate everything they did. I had a free check-up yesterday, 11 days after surgery, and Dr. Owen showed me how to clean the back of my mouth with a special syringe of water. I was referred to Dr. Owen by a friend after my left wisdom tooth got infected, as it was poking through. I called and I got in shortly after. When I met with Dr. Owen, he went over every route for removing one, two, or all 4 wisdom teeth. Since I would be paying cash due to no dental insurance I wanted to know all my options. At the consult he prescribed an antibiotic for my infected tooth to clear up and relieve pain until I went in for my procedure. Dr. Owen was so detailed that I knew that I was in good hands. I have to agree I've never been to a better oral surgeon! I had two teeth pulled and was very nervous about it. His office staff really puts you at ease and works seamlessly with the doctor - telling you when to take a deep breath etc. They even sang me a song while they pulled the tooth and it took a lot of the tension out of the whole operation! Dr. Owen is awesome he made me feel so comfortable. I was terrified to have surgery since I've never had surgery before. I tried to convince him to let me stay awake lol but he reassured me that I was in great hands and that I would be fine. Dr Owen removed all 4 of my son's impacted wisdom teeth last week. I spoke with a number of different doctors before we decided on using Dr Owen. Within a minute on the phone, I knew he was the right Doctor for our son. His staff is very friendly, patient, and willing to answer all of the questions a parent would have before their child goes through the surgery. The day of surgery went without a hitch, but my son was still experiencing significant pain by day 4. Without a problem, Dr Owen was able to see him and help with the pain. The best experience I've had in a dental office. My right wisdom bottom tooth started hurting bad after my last Invisalign tray. Unfortunately my dental office couldn't help me until the 1st week of April, because I was in pain I asked to be referred somewhere else and was given Dr. Owens contact information. I called immediately and scheduled an appointment with Debbie. She was super informative and pleasant to talk to on the phone. Once I arrived for the initial consult, Dr. William did the X-rays himself, talked me through the risks and we decided to extract the top and bottom wisdom teeth on my right side. He told me it could be a little daunting to be awake during the surgery but I was pretty adamant about not getting anesthesia. On the day of the surgery I was a little nervous but the entire team made it such a pleasant experience. There was no pain at all and Dr. William cracked jokes the entire time! I was in the chair for about 45mins. Everyone was so sweet they even sent me home with 2 bags of frozen peas for the swelling. On top of that Dr. William walked me to my car. It was the most easy and pleasant experience. I followed the post surgery instructions they sent me home with to the T and had minimal swelling the next day. I only took ibuprofen the first night and was feeling good enough to go to work the next day. All in all it was a good experience for such a dreadful procedure. read more
