I was just appalled at the lack of customer service by the manager today and the fact that she stated we just got new menus last night and wanted to argue about an old menu. The new menu that was presented to me should have been honored! The menu is misleading it doesn't specify up-charges and then when u get the bill there are several up-charges! if you order blueberry pancake they charge you $1.99 but if you don't want blueberries in pancake mix but on side it's $4.99. Also American classic meals comes with sausage and doesn't specify any up-charges but if you get turkey sausage they charge $1.59. On top of all of this Food was received with hair in it. Location and parking: This spot is neatly tucked away around offices and there is plenty of parking to go around. Food: Three of us shared their platter of chocolate chip pancakes which was 14" and good enough for all of us!The huge pancake had both milk and white chocolate in the butter and also stuffed with more chocolate. You can never have enough chocolate. My husband ordered the philly cheesesteak omlette and it was delicious as well. Service: Going there on a Sunday we had to wait for a table for close to 35 minutes. But once we were seated, the service was fairly quick. Price: Brunch in atlanta can get really expensive but this place is really reasonable! And also you can mix and match with your friends to have both sweet and savory. ***Let me preface this review with... I NEVER do this, I love going to new restaurants, learning about new chefs and their food philosophies... Majority of the staff had really bad attitudes, the drinks were not that great (who puts Blue Curacao in a "hand crafted" drink?! I haven't had that since ordering cheap sh*tty shots in college), and the food was terrible. We ordered almost everything on the menu and I can honestly say NOTHING stood out. Two of my dishes were burnt and instead of bringing me a new one, the server argued with me?! .... After reviewing Yelp, I decided to plan a Saturday brunch with my girls here. Parking is free (important to note for those of us who live in Atlanta!). I arrived at 10a (hours 8a-3p) and was treated with a smile by the hostess. I advised her how many people were in my party and she provided me with the regular and little bites menu. She also advised me to seat myself and come back to order from her. Fortunately, a group vacated what I considered to be the VIP section (near the fountain drinks on a raised platform in the corner of the room), so I pounced on it! All of the dishes are served on a pizza tray and each order is plentiful. So much so that they encourage you to order from the Little Bites menu or share the food family style. I decided to order the 14' blueberry pancake ($10.97), a side of turkey bacon ($3.89) and a half farmer omelette($6.50) with an OJ ($4.43) and water (pay for fiji or ask for a cup for the tap water). After ordering, they give you a number for your table to deliver your food and you pay at your table before you leave. Blueberry pancake - huge and full of blueberries inside and out! Fluffy and awesome! OJ - individual Arden's Garden (no pulp) Turkey bacon - 3 strips (slices are long and thick with lits of flavor) Farmer omelette - cheddar cheese, spinach, onion and bell peppers (seasoned well and fluffy). The half order was much larger than expected but awesome! There was a sense of community in the place, people came over to our table to ask what we were eating and if we were enjoying it and we did the same. The Manager walked around several times asking customers if they were enjoying their meal, he also helped deliver meals and clear tables. He never said his name but I assumed he was the Manager. I came, I saw, I conquered. I got cheese from my Juicy Lucy burger on my shirt....but I conquered! Stumbled upon Oy! the other day via Yelp, and figured that itwould definitely be worth trying out on my lunch break, especially since they're just down the road from my job. They're located in the same strip as Marlow's Tavern, right off of Paces Ferry....good start. Lots of seating, clean looking place, friendly service? Got it. Brightly colored menu with pancakes on one side & burgers on the other?? Fuck...I'm sold. The young lady that took my order at the counter was patient and informative, which is always nice at a new business, but even more so here because they're got so many delicious looking options. As I mentioned earlier, went with the Juicy Lucy, and 3/4lb. of fries...yes, that's their side serving of fries. Cooked to perfection, everything was both fresh AND seasoned well, and there was enough food that I could have some leftovers....if I hadn't been extra hungry/greedy on this particular day. I flipped it over and found the bottom so burned it was charcoalish. I never send things back. Even if I get the wrong item. Even if it's well done instead of medium rare. Even if there's an eyelash in it (hey, I prefer to think that's where that hair came from). Basically unless it has mustard or spiders on it, I suck it up ...literally and figuratively. But I do want to love this place. And to love a $13 piece of yummy, I have to be able to get it into my mouth. So I sent it back. That was painless. The waitress apologized and offered to get another. It took about twice as long to get a replacement. Which is ok, as it was really quick the first time. I cut into the second piece and oh my dog, really? Now it's cold. Not almost warm, or room temperature. Cold. Just from the freezer cold. WTF? So I sent it back again. The nice waitress asked if I wanted something different. No, I said. Just nuke it and thaw it out a little. Another long period passes. During which time I had time to order some Cyber Monday specials off Amazon. And text with my accountant about the joyous upcoming tax ordeal. And write this review. Third time's a charm. Yep. Oyyyyyy! Let me say this: if you're going to visit Oy!, you better bring your appetite! Oy! Is a twist on the classic diner concept. The twist is, instead of first taking your seat and waiting for a waitress to come take your order; you order at the counter then wait for your food to be brought to you. When we arrived, at around noon on a Saturday, we were greeted by a friendly gal who handed us some menus and told us a little about Oy!. She gave us some highlights of the menu including her favorites and told us to take our time to order. Take my time I did! My wife got very frustrated with me because she was hungry and it seemed that I was taking forever. That's because, I couldn't decide what to get. The menu isn't that extensive, it's just that everything sounded SO good. Plus, everything is JUMBO sized so you spend a lot of time wondering if it would even be responsible to order what you're considering. Ha! Finally, I decided on the "juicy Lucy" upon recommendation from the hostess. She said that since you have to pay "extra" for cheese on all their burgers, it just makes sense to get the "juicy Lucy" where the cheese is actually on the INSIDE. Sounded like a plan to me! I also ordered a side order of "Philly cheese steak" fries and a drink. My wife ordered the Challah and Egg Souffle. Then, I accidentally ordered a full sized pancake! I say, "accidentally"because I actually meant to order a pancake from the kids menu for us to share. The hostess had explained when we first arrived that since all their portions are so big, ordering off their Kids Menu at Oy! is like ordering a regular sized meal. All we could do was smile and nod nervously. I mean, what else can you do when perfect strangers comment on your food? LOL The pancake just sat on the table at first because we were totally intimidated by the size of it. We just started eating the rest of our food. My wife's egg souffle was the size of a brick--she actually had enough leftovers for dinner and breakfast the next day. She enjoyed it very much but noted that next time she'll add meat since it was basically just bread and cheese. My fries were a huge portion as well and it was just a "side" portion, so imagine. My burger wasn't that big. In fact, my burger was probably my least favorite part of the meal. Yes, it was 100% Angus beef and yes there was cheese inside but overall, it was just ..."meh". The burger was actually overcooked and a bit tough to eat, I didn't finish it. The fries though were FANTASTIC. I'm not sure they were "philly-cheese-steak-y" enough, but the fries themselves were cooked to perfection and full of flavor. I filled up on those and still had plenty of leftovers for dinner. The pancake though, the pancake was the STAR of the show. When we finally started eating it, we couldn't stop. As full as we were, we still made room for that baby. Where a lot of places get it wrong is, a pancake that's too thick which gets to be "stalling" after a while making it impossible to finish. But, Oy! gets it right. The pancake was the perfect thickness and tasted AMAZING. I could eat one right now. Mmm, it was good. Cons: The food was EXPENSIVE. Our meal was $50 total and I'd say that's extravagant for a burger, fries, a pancake and one other item. I already mentioned that the burger was not a hit for me. But more than just not liking the taste, I didn't like how the burger didn't come with fries. Who does that? Burgers and fries just GO together.... point.blank.period...you shouldn't have to order fries as a side. The pizza pan as a plate thing is a 'no'. Our food spun around so much that it made me dizzy. And since my wife and I were sharing the pancake, both she and I trying to use one hand to eat it while the plate spun around wasn't fun. Went back after a long hiatus and I was so disappointed. They have completely revamped the menu. The cincy fries are no longer a menu option - and you can't build them using the MYO (make-your-own) option because they no longer have chili. The fries are still hand cut - but they're skinny - no longer thick cut like the ones pictured. My burger was juicy, but it was not cooked medium (it was well, well done) and the patty had a crunchy, chewy exterior that I was not a fan of. The bun, produce and cheese were good, but let's face it - that's you don't want to remember a burger for those things. After eating one or two greasy, limp fries - I abandoned them - and the server was nice enough to prepare a side salad instead (mac n cheese in the only other side option, no onion rings, tots or anything burger appropriate) and she even comp'd the burger - so I wound up paying for just the salad. So why the 3 stars instead of 1 or 2? I really appreciated Victoria's (the server) pleasant and accommodating attitude. And the salad was actually pretty good. So 5 stars for customer service, 2 stars for the food, averages out to a 3 star rating. I must say, Oy! left me pleasantly surprised. I decided to meet a wonderful group of locals here for brunch. I arrived early and stood in line - I guess the normal protocol is that you order and pay for your food then have a seat and your order is brought to you. It was a particularly busy time so the wait in line was longer than I anticipated but worthwhile since I had the time to read the menu, the specials and all of the cool writings on the wall. I'll admit, while in line and reading the prices I thought things were a bit over priced and the menu was very limited but I wasn't going to let that deter me...then I turned towards the people who were already seated and watched as these super huge pancakes (think large round pizza) and omelets arrived at the various tables. This was the moment that I knew I need to order the kiddie size. I tried the kiddie pumpkin spice pancake (think medium round pizza) and the kiddie veggie omelet (might have been a half dozen eggs in this thing). The first time I went - the owner, Adam, was generous enough to do so... even when they had 4985845445 people waiting to be served and taken car of. Bonus point. Service - 5/5. Each staff member I've talked to or has helped my table were very polite & consistent. The owner, Adam, is also a solid guy. Food - Come hungry. Each meal is HUGE. Worth the money you pay for sure. I should note: their "regular" pancake is a size of a pizza. No lie. I saw someone do a to go for it and Oy uses a pizza to go box. It's hilarious. For folks with smaller stomachs, go for the Kiddy size one - which is actually a normal sized pancake. Chocolate Chip Pancake - The batter they use tastes REALLY good. Almost like crack. The batter wasn't your normal "make it at home" batter,...they must have added something. The texture is also sweet, smooth, and melts in your mouth. I have visited this establishment a few times and overall the service was ok so was the food. I never thought to leave a review just because I was indifferent about the place. We went here on Sunday for brunch and this experience has truly swayed my opinion. Wait time, ordering food and receiving food was relatively quick; about 20 minutes. We received our food and there was hair in the food. As he was chewing the macaroni, he noticed there was something else in the food. When he realized something wasn't right, he spit the food out and saw the hair. I called over the waitress and politely shared with her that there was hair in the food. Asked her to remove the dish (which was macaroni and cheese). She did and we dealt with the rest accordingly. We were grossed out because there was hair in the food but just decided that we wanted to have the item removed from the bill and prepare to wrap things up. The waitress was extremely apologetic and understanding but shared that the manager (Jessie) stated that she didn't believe there was hair because "she did not see it". Wtf?!?! The waitress went on to say how she had to convince the manager of the issue. By this time, I am not only grossed out but beyond furious. (1) Why would we lie about hair being in our food?! What would be the gain from this?! (2) I was beyond disbelief that this was how Jessie (M.O.D) handled the situation. First the inside of the place has dimmed lighting, how would she have seen hair in the dish UNLESS she was examining it meaning that she was right up on the food?! Next, why are you that close to the food unless you were the chef?! (3) Instead of Jessie coming out to apologize and address the issue, she hid in the back and attacked us by her accusations. She sent the waitress to do her dirty work which was extremely unprofessional and uncalled for. She was not only a coward but lacked sympathy for our experience and customer service. We did not even ask for anything except for the item to be removed. The fact that the manager behaved the way she did made this situation worse than it already was. The food overall is ok but I refuse to spend my money at an establishment where the leadership team lacks respect for its customers and their experiences (good or bad). The owner needs to retrain Jessie or keep her on bathroom or dishes duty. She clearly does not have what it takes to manage a restaurant. I am not giving this a "one star" because the food OR our waitress was bad but simply because an unfortunate experience did not have to become a horrible one. This restaurant is not bad in spite of my rating! For me it's more of a preference thing than anything honestly so I'll just speak from my own experience. First thing first, loved the waitress! She was very sweet and engaged. I don't eat pancakes personally (my friend got some so I can say this), but if you're a pancake lover this is your spot! The pancakes are like the size of a small pizza and are good from what she said. I personally got the French Toast Casserole w/ home fries (asked for the chocolate chips, don't come with them). The home fries were classic! As for the French toast, that's why I gave this rating. Personally a little too sweet and very gooey for me. We were in the area and decided to drop by. It had been over a year and our last experience was pretty good so why not. Besides, it's small business. When we got there the place was mostly empty but it was still slightly early. It was clean, the staff was friendly, wore masks and greeted us promptly. I had the biscuits and sausage gravy. This dish is a dime a dozen in the south but it's one of my favorite. Noticeably different at Oy is that the sausage is separate from the gravy and there's lots of it; not the sparse little bits that you usually get. The biscuit was huge and perfectly baked. I have a thing for burnt bacon that almost no one gets right the first time (I think they're afraid to serve burnt food). I explained this to our server, along with my preference for an over medium egg) and they nailed it. My girlfriend ordered the cinna-yum pancake. It was the biggest pancake I've ever laid eyes on. OMG this place is the best! We went on a sat am at about 11am and there was only a 15 mins wait. The food came out quickly and I was in total shock at the size of the pancakes lol! My husband had the 14 inch peach pancakes they were amazing but needed to be cooked a little longer as the middle was not completely cooked. A friend had the cowboy omlet which she said was amazing. They do not have anything but bottled juice which is about 3-4 dollars but it does not say bottled on the menu so be prepared for that. Great experience and friendly staff. I've heard so many great reviews about this place so I was greatly excited to visit one weekday morning. However upon arrival, The ambience and lighting was very poor you could barely see in the restaurant. Because I went during the summer months I decided to order the peach pancakes because peaches are in season. However the peach toppings and pancakes were both disgusting the peach toppings were straight from the can not even homemade and the pancakes were dry and flavorless. Excellent addition to the neighborhood. There are limited breakfast options in the area and this is a great new local spot! We had the ginormous blueberry pancake and an egg white omelette with bell peppers, spinach, angus beef and Swiss. Both were delicious and easy to split between two people (with some leftover). The owner was extremely friendly, helpful, and welcoming, as were the rest of the staff. Quick service as well. We look forward to coming back to try the famous French toast soufflé! read more

I've been to this spot about a year ago, and my experience was great. I decided to take my boyfriend this time and it was a completely different experience. The bathroom was one of the most disgusting bathrooms I've ever seen, I wish I took photos. The staff, including the cooks that you could clearly see handling the food, had masks but either weren't wearing them, or weren't wearing them properly (under the nose). Service was just ok, kind of slow and nonchalant. I got a single pancake, because I was honestly concerned with how the food would turn out, and it was ok. Found a hair in it but I can overlook that. What a shame. Oy used to be such a great place to go, with delicious food and great service. The food is still very good, but the service is pretty grim. I went in yesterday with a friend and we stood at the door for eight full minutes before anyone acknowledged us. One woman was studying her paperwork at the desk and never once looked up, several times (approximately 12 times) various wait staff walked right by and completely ignored us. Don't get me wrong, I'm no Karen. But I do long for the days when you walked into a business and someone would look up and smile and say, "good morning! I'll be with you in a minute!" It really doesn't take any effort to be friendly and polite, but it can make all the difference in the customer's experience. Sadly, the new owners of Oy! have selected the most sullen and miserable staff. Even after we were seated, we were again ignored for another 8 minutes. If the place was busy and they were short staffed, I could maybe make allowances, but it wasn't. The staff had plenty of time to talk/complain to each other while completely ignoring us. On a positive note, once we ordered, the food arrived in good time, and was delicious and if I were rating the place on food alone, it would be 4* Also, the restaurant was less than 50% occupied and tables were well separated in keeping with Covid guidelines. They did a good job of cleaning the tables between customers, but I was surprised to see salt/pepper, syrup, ketchup bottles, etc on the tables - and these were not cleaned each time. read more

We had been warned of the huge portion sizes so we ordered for a diet omelette, turns out its is quite contrary to that :) where we replaced the cheese with spinach. A good decision since the spinach added the diet back in the omelet. It has Angus, ham and bacon in a gooey Centre. We ordered for a side of the Challah bread, came with a grape jam. I was looking forward to the egg soufflé but we were full to the brim with just an omelette between us. Next time for sure!!! Service time was excellent. We hardly waited more then 5-7 minutes...
