I was a little scared to try this place because I didn't want to be let down but this place is fire!! The food is flavorful, the drinks are tasty, and the staff is nice! It's nice and spacious inside but they also have patio seating. I'm so happy tried this place. I need more oxtails! Parking: there's street parking but there's a lot a lot close by.

Came for an early Mother's Day celebration on a busy Saturday and had an incredible experience! The South American and Caribbean flavors were so rich, bold, and vibrant in every dish. I loved the jerk pork tacos! The pork was juicy, tender, and aromatic, and the mango-papaya salsa added a refreshing sweetness. I also tried the paella Oyo that my sister ordered which was sooo yummy and full of protein. The small size was more than enough! My mom ordered the oxtail stew which wasn't on their brunch/lunch menu (dinner only), but I really appreciate that they were accommodating to make that dish for her. I've never had oxtail and it was delicious--tender, perfectly sweet and savory, and paired well with the plantains. The other dishes that my family ordered were hits too (jerk pork shoulder and seafood paella). We also tried the ripe plantains pancake Oscar for a sweet treat. I love anything marshmallow, so the brûléed marshmallow cream that blanketed the pancakes was heavenly. It also came with a plantain on top and a few other fruits to balance out the sweetness. Overall, we left full and all around very satisfied. The staff showed us such warm hospitality and came around often to check on us, despite being an almost packed house. The decor was beautiful and the atmosphere had a fun lively energy. With indoor and outdoor seating options, anywhere you get seated is a nice spot. Can't wait to visit again to try their dinner menu items and drinks, and hopefully catch some live music!

Absolutely spectacular!!! I would have never guessed that a Guayanan restaurant would be in downtown Pleasanton but so glad I found it! The service is friendly and knowledgeable. The space is vibrant and spacious. They have a full menu and full bar including mocktails and delicious drinks like a sparkling mango lemonade that felt like a vacation drink. I ordered the pork shoulder dish with plantain and rice with black beans. The pork was juicy, tender, and crispy on the outside. It had this amazing green sauce on top that sort of reminded me of chimichurri. My friend had the run down fish out of curiosity but she loved the sea-bass in white wine sauce. My husband ordered the jerk chicken sandwich and he left no crumbs. They can accommodate very large groups and they have a private room. A must try in the TriValley!

I came here for lunch with a co-worker and the place was deserted. There was only 1 other party. However, I heard this place is hopping in the evenings. Inside the decor is very colorful and lively. I was happy to see that they have a lunch specials menu, so I'm not overwhelmed by too many choices. Most of the items are "jerk" and they have a few vegetarian options too. I never know what to expect when I see "jerk" flavoring, but I expect some heat, which was missing from the items we ordered. The food was well seasoned, but lacked any heat. Pulled jerk chicken sandwich - this was a tower. It was small like a slider but very tall and packed with lots of chicken. It was very tasty, and I especially liked the plantain chips. The little side salad was nice too. It could use some heat, but still very tasty.

Had a great first time tonight! We ordered the tomato salad, pork shoulder, island salmon, a half portion side of the plaited bread with the amazing butter and the bread pudding for dessert. Everything was immaculate. We sat outside on a nice Saturday night and service was great! They were very attentive and checked on us often. We were also seated very quickly as they have plenty of seating. We also didn't have trouble with parking. Will definitely be back to try out more on the menu.

Street food 4/5: soft bread, succulent chicken, ample cucumber, flavorful chickpea sauce Bbq oyster 3/5: light barbecue sauce that was sweet and tangy, light kick, although felt too pricey Paella oyo 5/5: good portion, bouncy shrimp, scrumptious sausage and chicken, peas balanced the meal, rice cooked perfectly Brasied short rib 5/5: extremely tender, amazing, everything you would want from a braised short rib Hot sauce 5/5: spicy yet added brightness to each dish Service 5/5: impeccable, water was always filled, servers answered questions with detail Ambience 5/5: lively music that wasn't overtly loud, clean & well kept, table settings were thoughtful and felt homey

I only took one photo!!! lol I highly recommend making a reservation,; outdoor seating is limited but If you time it during off hours you should not have a problem. I prefer outdoors on a sunny day, but it is noisy with traffic. Also, they are pet friendly on the patio!! Our server was knowledgeable and friendly. I had a mojito, it was strong!!!! Yet yummy. They're very friendly, a friend wanted the jerk tacos, not on their evening menu but the server was happy to accommodate. Their oxtail stew also looks delicious, if you like that... I went with the paella Oyo, I really recommend it because you get all the things... surf, turf and sausage with just the perfect crisp of rice at the crust.

Oh my god. I came here for brunch and have already made plans to go back again for dinner. ITS JUST THAT GOOD We came here with a group of 9 on a Saturday afternoon and immediately got seated. Service is sooo nice! We came here for the unlimited mimosas which were super yummy and also came with a variety of choices for the juices. They had guava, strawberry, mango, and fresh squeezed orange juice! For food, we got the brunch pancakes and omelette to share! Both were 10/10!! The pancakes had a bruleed marshmallow on top of it that was to die for while the pork belly on the omelette was one of the most flavorful and softest pork bellies I've ever had! Definitely recommend!!

Great healthy option in downtown! Not busy during weekday dinner, service was quick. Interior decoration represents the food well. Can't go wrong any of the plantain dishes. I really enjoyed the pork maduro (tapa $9, entree $19) which was a giant plantain with bell peppers, garlic, and cream. The prices justify the portion size and tastes. The pork shoulder ($26) was a solid option for protein and veggies. Mojo sauce, I think it's chimmichuri was fresh and herby which compliments well with the pork. Plantain added the sweetness to the dish. Braided short rib was good, has some char, but it is a heavy dish, so maybe it needs something like veggies to go with it.

It's not easy to find a South American restaurant with vegan options yet alone one that is so delicious. Their menu has clearly marked vegan options and they even have a vegan paella. The food is delicious, perfectly spiced and cooked and service is fast and friendly. The downtown location with the large patio is perfect in any season.

I liked my food even more the second time! I got the braised short rib for an entree and Oyo Caipirinha for a drink. The meat was so tender and tasted great!!! And the bread was really great texturally and tasted good both by itself and dipped in the sauce. The drink was really good too. Not too strong but still had some sweetness to it. The service was really good, they were fast and very friendly. It was a little loud inside but it was manageable. I really enjoyed my dinner here!

Island Salmon- yum and plantains too!

Dairy allergy here. Does the ox tail stew or paella have butter or milk in it?

You should always ask the waiter before consuming. From my experience they sometimes add milk or dairy cream. If you don't get an answer then I suggest you pass.

Do they serve lunch at 12? Or just breakfast?

Yes as my wife and friends had lunch there a month ago. We had reservations at 11:30am and were seated promptly. Don't believe there were any breakfast items on the menu, so I assume they serve only lunch and dinner.

Hi, 1. can you accommodate a large group for dinner? upto 10 people. 2. what is the corkage fee?…

Yes they can definitely do a group of 10.

Does Oyo charge if I bring my own birthday cake?

As long as you save Maurice a slice of cake no problem! The owner has a sweet tooth! ;o)

What is the pork sausage in the Oyo paella? Is it sweet, spicy? What is the actual sausage used?

For Sunday brunch, are you limited to only order from the brunch menu, or can you also order from the lunch menu as well?

You can also order from the lunch menu.

Do you have a corkage fee / allow outside wine?

How many people does each paella feed? Which is the best one to order?

Depends on how much each person eats and what size you get, the regular can feed two people conservatively.

Do you have outdoor dining for 5 people?

We were a party of 4 at a table that could seat 6 people.. so unless they changed since then the answer would be yes

Is the patio dog friendly? Also, is there a happy hour menu?

    yes, yes.

Do they have menu option for little kids?

It did not appear so but wouldn't hurt to ask.

We have a person with celiac so just wondered if your chef understands what that means. Many restaurants say GF but then cook things in a pan that just had flour etc in it. We'd like to come tomorrow. Can you help me?

Absolutely! The Chef understands cross contamenation and proper food handling techniques, and would be more than happy to accommodate you. Please communicate your needs with your server when you come. We look forward to serving you!

Anything gluten free on the menu?

Yes! They have full entree gluten free options, not just the side type dishes many other places have. Their menu is marked denoting all the gluten free options.

Any no onion no garlic vegetarian options?

Just called the restaurant and they can do chana and tropical salad without dressing

Coming in for dinner service, we started with the Pan con Chicharron, a sandwich with a filling of crispy deep-fried pork, picked onions, sweet potato, and aioli on a crusty baguette. The flavors of this sandwich were delicious, though the pork was a little too greasy and sinewy. Curious about their creative dishes, we next had the Bravazo Paella, an iron skillet of short-grain rice cooked with aji amarillo sofrito, fish broth, saffron, shrimp, mussels, chicken, beef, chorizo, green beans, carrots, and peas--a one pot meal that was great for sharing. But my favorite dish of all was the Fettuccine Bravazo, which came with fettuccine in a creamy yellow huancaina sauce (made of queso fresco and yellow pepper) topped with shaved Parmesan, served alongside Lomo Saltado, cubes of marinated top sirloin stir-fried with onions, tomatoes, and peppers in a savory sauce. The huancaina pasta was creamy and delicious, and the beef in the Lomo Saltado was perfectly tender and juicy--what a creative way of combining two Peruvian classics into a single dish! Overall, the food and service here were both memorable, though the menu prices were undoubtedly high for what we got.

The ambiance is cute with a small closed off glass area of wine and two seater table inside! Our waitress Dominique was amazing. She was able to give great recommendations for wines and food. She also made us feel taken cared of and was friendly/warm. The food is a mix of mexican/euro/american so there were a lot of different options. Here are the things we got: Appetizers - Parm crusted cauliflower: so good, nice and crunchy but not too heavily breaded. The chipotle mayo was delish - Chicharrones: so light and crispy! They were hot out of the fryer. It had a side of a corn cheese dip that was so good and made it more unique of a dish -- must try if you even kind of eat chicharrones. I don't generally like pork skin but I enjoyed it regardless. - Hamachi ceviche: this is a large sharing portion with chunks of hamachi and avocado. Good but not a must have. Entrees - Enchiladas: very cheesy and overall a good dish but I would skip this. - Shrimp tostadas: large size shrimp and it just comes with two tostadas so I don't think it was worth the price - Barramundi fillet: The fish was tender and juicy. I liked the marinades that came with it. I liked this dish with the rice because it made me feel homey. Good portion of fish. - Agua Chile Ribeye: This is a must have! The ribeye is sous vide so it was soo tender and juicy. The broth was really nice to keep everything moist and flavorful. Unfortunately, the food experience didn't live up to the service. Charging extra for chips and salsa at what is essentially a Mexican restaurant (even if it's branded as "Southwestern") was disappointing, especially when the salsa portion was so small. Chips and salsa are such a staple that it felt out of place to pay extra for them. The biggest issue, though, was the tortillas. They weren't heated, which made them feel dry and mealy and they fell apart while eating the tacos. The steak itself was flavorful, but the tortillas made it difficult to enjoy what could have been a really good dish. I genuinely hope they make a few adjustments because the people there were fantastic, the drinks were excellent, and this place has a lot of potential.

The deep fried beef empanada was my least favorite, the consistency was off, and I'm not even sure it was properly prepared or cooked all the way, as it was slightly cold, barely lukewarm, in the middle.
