Updating this review. At first I thought this was a a nice Middle Eastern Restaurant. 3 of us shared the combination platter that had beef, chicken, shrimp and Adana skewers. Had grilled vegetables and fries on the side with an order of tzatziki with pita. Everything was delicious. The service was slow and it took a long time to get the side of fries that came at the end. They charge a 3% surcharge. At the bill I gave 18%, which is good considering 15 is standard and they added the surcharge. They asked for 18 minimum on the check. So later I checked my credit card and they added $3 more than I signed for. That's theft. Luckily my credit card quickly corrected this and I kept a picture of my signature of the bill. This is why I don't like write in bills. It's time for all electronic payments. I'm not ever going back and dealing with people who steal again. It's very expensive and the service was just standard. Shame on the people who work there.

The food was half as good as the first time we ate here. The spaghetti the kids had were done really well and chewy. I liked that they were long hollow strains of spaghetti. Surprisingly this was one of the best dishes. The salad was mediocre as the flavors were not really Mediterranean and lacked flavor. The dressing is fine and there was salt which was nice but something else is missing. Quinoa seemed undercooked and not flavored well. Roasted garbanzos were not crunchy but tuff and hard and flavorless. The focaccia sides wasn't as buttery and flavorful with spices as before. The drink I ordered was nice but not exceptional, although I liked the rosemary smell / flavor, the drink just wasn't done well. More like a hard soda than a fancy beverage. The small ice cubes made this even more apparent. They were also out of the seafood sauce my wife wanted from her last meal so we had two other dishes and they were not impressive. We had to order multiple additional entrees since the dishes had also gotten much smaller in size compared to 6 months ago. The top it off, service was lacking. Alex at the bar was amazing the last time. We were with our children for Mother's Day today and we sat at the booth and our server wasn't horrible, but just wasn't any good. I know it was busy but she had time to be on her phone instead of providing better service kind of irked me. I wanted to give her some tips during our meal, but I hadn't brought cash with me, so my wife could enjoy her meal better. I made a comment about it being busy and all I got was one dismissive ha - no engagement. Kind of disappointed. Not sure what I was expecting but I guess more of Alex's energy and engagement and caring went a long way the last time and today's was missing. I didn't see Alex today at the bar. I hope she's still working here; otherwise, this place just isn't the same based on my experience today.

    Sampler dips is worth it

Decided to take the family out for dinner during the holiday week. I will admit the vibe seemed off with the staff. Highlights: Go with the shareable items. You get more bang with your buck to order the sampler dips and try everything. Same with the family platter, it was an assortment of meats and a choice of two sides. This is why a star dropped. We got our french fries (good) but the rice didn't arrive until I asked and by then we were finished with most of the platter. On the plus side, the ride was good, with the right amount of flavor. Dessert options were cocktails or baklava. We decided to go pass on this visit. The entertainment was they had a belly dancer walk around the restaurant. It was cute to see the little kids interact with her.

Incredible Food, but the Service Experience Needs More Grace! We visited Alora at City Center Bishop Ranch for a weekend dinner with friends. While the food was some of the best we've had in San Ramon, the service and management left a lot to be desired, which is why I'm rating this a 4 instead of a 5. Ambiance & Decor The interior of Alora is stunning. The decor is very tasteful, and the restaurant is spacious with plenty of seating for guests. It has a great vibe for a night out--on paper, it's the perfect place for a celebration. Service & Management (The "Could Be Better") Unfortunately, the hospitality didn't match the beautiful surroundings and quality of food. The hostess was not very accommodating or friendly, and the manager on duty that evening lacked the grace you'd expect at an upscale establishment. There was a mix-up regarding our table, and the management handled it with a very "stiff" attitude--insisting we wait until the specific person who made the reservation arrived before adjusting the table. For a family celebration, you want to feel welcomed from the moment you walk in. I'm hesitant to recommend this for special occasions until the front-of-house team adopts a warmer, more hospitable approach. The Food (A Perfect 5/5) The kitchen is the absolute star here. The food was phenomenal: * Octopus Souvlaki: Hands down the best we've ever had. It was served with golden potatoes and spanish chorizo sausage and was perfectly executed. * Fried Burrata: Very tasty, though the cream served with it was cold; it would have been even better if served warm. * Muhammara: This roasted red bell pepper dip with pomegranate molasses and spiced walnuts was unique and delicious. We paired it with their fresh pita, which was fantastic. * Mixed Grill Family Platter: We thoroughly enjoyed the shrimp, chicken, and adana kebab skewers. The staff mentioned the beef wasn't up to their standard that night, so they proactively replaced it with another adana kebab skewer, which we appreciated. Final Thought The food at Alora is truly top-notch, but the "stiff" vibe from the hostess and management made the experience feel less like a celebration and more like a transaction. If they can improve their reception and add a bit more warmth to their hospitality, this place would easily be a 5-star gem in Bishop Ranch.

We came here for their happy hour! 3-6PM with option for outdoor seating or bar seating. Service was excellent at the bar despite having only one person there. I understand that it may get busy and check-ups were appreciated! :) Beautiful ambiance, huge area for seating - perfect for large parties. Food was fresh and absolutely exceptional. Hummus Tahini - Pita was soft and fluffy. Hummus was thick and flavorful. I liked their green zhoug. Ladolemono Chicken - Pita pockets along with fries. This one was my favorite. All the ingredients blended well together when I took a bite. Saucy, yummy, and chicken was tender. Adana kebab - Pita Pocket along with fries. Good as well but preferred the chicken more. Limoncello Spritz - Lemony, citrus.

My fave items here were the lamb lollipops and focaccia! The lamb was juicy and flavorful, perfectly cooked. The potatoes that came with it were also delicious. And we were recommended to get focaccia with the fusilli - for sauce dipping purposes and omg, the focaccia was SO good. It was nice and fluffy on the inside and toasted nice and crispy on the outside. With some sauce--it was perfection! And unfortunately I didn't love the octopus and I usually love the octopus! It either felt overcooked or maybe not the freshest on that particular day. But overall, flavor wise, the dish is decent so I might have to try it again another day. I hear they have a nice happy hour menu so I'll definitely be coming back soon!

Alora Social is a great place for a special occasion dinner. For regular affairs, it seemed a bit pricey. We gathered for a friend's birthday dinner, and ordered a lot. Vodka martini, Ruby and Phoenix, and Alera spritz started us off. It's an expensive cocktail menu. But everything was well done, and I asked the bartender details about the martini she made for me. The wine bottle and Sandeman port prices were reasonable. We had tzatziki dip, falafel, and brussel sprouts for appetizers. So darn good. We had to order extra pita for $6 for the tzatziki, which was a bit annoying. For entrees, we had one shrimp poncho, two walnut salmon, and one ladolemono chicken, and there were no complaints. For dessert, we had cheesecake and baklava, and again, while these were good, the prices were not reasonable. Baklava for $17? On top of all this was a 3% percent surcharge for...I don't know. In SF, they tell you it's for mandated employee benefits. Does San Ramon also have that? I hate to dwell on prices, when the meal was so good. But the final price gave me pause about returning here.

First time going to Alora Social for my birthday and I enjoyed the delicious food. The service was great and the manager very attentive as well. My only negative comment is the music is too loud and it is very hard to carry a conversation. There was entertainment and that was fun to watch.

Lunch at Alora in The City Center San Ramon. A beautiful place with great ambiance and attentive service. The food was good! We enjoyed the artichoke heart hummus dip (the oranges added a unique taste) with their amazing fresh baked pita. We also enjoyed their lunch specials. The chicken pita was the fav! Fresh and huge portions of greens and goodness! The falafel pita was good but a bit dry. The mazing huge pile of fries made up for it. The lamb kebab was very good and spicy!!! Be warned! Delish but hot. It is on the pricier side, so also be warned. I would go back for a nice lunch!

Tried Alora Social with a large party on a Wednesday evening for dinner. We had a reservation and the table was ready when we arrived. They have indoor and outdoor seating, but it was a hot day so we opted for inside (after being seated outside). Ambiance: inside is very cute with bright pink floral displays and greenery. Service: Out server was fantastic! I didn't catch her name, but she was funny and provided great descriptions and recommendations for our large group. Drinks: I ordered the white sangria, which was refreshing and not sweet. They have a variety of cocktails, mocktails, beer and wine. Food: We started with the appetizer sampler platter that came with a small portion of all of the dips, pita bread, vegetables, dolma, and spanakopita. This was great for our large group and I enjoyed each of the dips. We also ordered the brussel sprouts, which were tasty, and the focaccia bread. For my entree, I ordered the Adana Kebab, which was a house made lamb and keep combo along with rice pilaf and some sautéed peppers. The dish came with a lot of rice pilaf and I would've liked to have more vegetables, but the kebab was great. Everyone seemed to enjoy their dishes. For dessert, we tried the chocolate hazelnut baklava with vanilla ice cream. It came with a chocolate sauce to pour on top. The bill was a bit pricey, but it was a good meal with excellent service and a fun atmosphere. I would've liked definitely return when in the area. Our server also informed us they have happy hour from 3-6pm and have a number of food and drink specials.

Came here on a Saturday lunch with the boo. We were seated right away and given ample time to peruse the menu. The ambiance was great. Bright lighting with the windows, very hip atmosphere. Ordered the moutabal, octopus souvlaki, and colone Pompeii. The moutabal was very flavorful, a bit on the salty side for me. The octopus souvlaki was a hit. Super tender octopus with a delicious tomato based sauce. The pasta was also delicious. I'd have like it slightly more al dente, but overall excellent sauciness! All in all a great first experience. Will have to come back to try more!

We informed the receptionist and our server; both were courteous, professional, and accommodating. We received our food shortly after placing our orders. The charm of the restaurant is endearing, which made our short lunch enjoyable. The food was good and convenient for a business lunch. The beef ravioli was delicious and filling. The gnocchi was not as we hoped it would be. The texture of the gnocchi was dense and heavy, but the sauce was savory and creamy. The server seemed confused and just left the entrées sitting off to the side. My wife ordered the Chicken Parmesan, and the pasta appeared to have been sitting under a heat lamp for quite a while -- much of it was dried out around the edges. We sent the Chicken Parm back and declined a replacement, but it took so long for the plate to be cleared that I had already finished my pasta by the time it was addressed. The timing completely threw off our meal and left us both frustrated. We also asked twice for more bread and dipping sauce and never received it. It made for a very disappointing Valentine's Day. This used to be our go-to spot for a nice dinner, but after this experience, we'll likely be looking elsewhere.
