I haven't eaten at every sushi place in Washington, but I've eaten at a LOT of sushi places. Ozeki has by far my favorite sushi in terms of taste. I come here whenever I can. They're a bit pricey, but you will get your money's worth, I assure you. My favorite roll to get is the Black Dragon roll which has me convinced that freshwater eel is the greatest meat on the planet. Super tender and mouth watering flavor. It's a damn shame it one of their more expensive rolls, because I get it every time I come here. My favorite Nigiri to get is Mackarel and it come with a little lemon slice to squeeze over it which results in a tangy rusty taste that I adore. If sushi isn't you're thing, they've got this delicious Korean fried chicken with a sweet/spicy glaze that's wonderful. It even comes with a plastic glove so you only have a mess around your mouth by the time you're finished. I am a regular at Ozeki. So much of a regular that when I came in yesterday.(I hadn't been in there in about five months.) they recognized me and knew exactly what I wanted to order. Cerachi bowl, miso & cucumber salad. I love this place because the fish is always very fresh. If you want a more authentic experience they have one of those Japanese Kotatsu tables (that idea not exactly). Just ask for it. When I order a Cerachi bowl, I love my fish to be very cold, and they always deliver. I've been eating here for about eight years on a regular basis. We were craving sushi and decided to give this place a try. What a cute authentic sushi place- perfecr for date night. It was quiet and slow on a Friday night at 5pm but started picking up once we left. We started with a miso soup & house salad- so affordable and delicious! We just ordered two sushi rolls- Rainbow roll & Las Vegas roll. Both delicious and great size rolls. Next time I would love to try their yakisoba and fried rice. read more

My Mom has lived out in Selah for years and passed this place many times but never stopped so we thought we'd finally try it. The restaurant is clean and personally I loved the music that was playing! The food was mostly good! My mom got the sesame chicken which was my favorite. My aunt got the beef ribs which I thought didn't have great flavor. I had the chicken fried rice, I thought it was just ok. But I did get a sushi roll, I can't remember which one, it was so good! We came to Ozeki with some friends on a night when all of us felt like sushi and had babysitters for the kids - the perfect storm! The place is located on a corner in a small strip mall and despite the relatively plain exterior, we all were very excited about what was going on inside. Upon entering there is a lovely sushi bar where you can watch the fishy art is being made, there is plenty of standard seating throughout the restaurant, as well as an area with more traditional Japanese type seating to the right and up some stairs. I'm not sure what that set up is called, but it looked very nice. The sake menu was good, at least by my fairly elementary standards. There were something like 10 options ranging from $15-$60. We opted for the second least expensive stuff - the classy move! The evening started with a poke salad that was quite nice - good flavor, lots of meat and roe for that lovely little crunchy pop. The real deliciousness though came was with the sushi options. As most will advise, get he Ahi Tower! It's one of the prettiest sushi dishes we've had and was a great one for 4 of us to split. Nice tuna, crab, roe and plenty of different sauces. We buddies up with a number of rolls as well and they were all above average. Not the best eve, but well worth their delicious weight in fish. At the table we had a Salmon skin, a Yakima roll, a Boyfriend roll and a California. The favorite was the Yakima roll with BBQ eel- good flavors and nicely presented. Good quality stuff with enough variety and creativity to keep us entertained, but not so much that it made choosing cumbersome. We love our choices....but only within reason! A salad, the tower, the rolls and the sake were just right for the group. It left just enough room for ice cream down the road! Our whole experience was pretty uniformly pleasant - good food, relatively quick service, a nice variety and friendly servers. It's not high end, but that also means the prices aren't high end either. It's that great spot on the quality/price curve where the lines intersect - Nerd alert! End of the day, the sushi here was good enough that we'll be back and, at present, it's lobbying to be our go to spot for fish delights in the area! read more

Im a big fan of sushi... Ive had sushi in Seattle and in other cities. I used to go to new York Teriyaki all the time for sushi but now that I've discovered this place there really is no question in my mind: Ozeki's is the best in Yakima HANDS DOWN. They would give some other sushi restaurants a run for their money in some of the larger cities.Their fish is shipped in daily from Seattle and it always tastes wonderful. Their service is outstanding; the manager is always there and always cordial... She knows my name because I've been there so much. Their prices are a little higher than the normal restaurants in Yakima but well worth it. (probably because the fish has to be shipped since we're inland.) The atmosphere is amazing and they even have a tatami room! If you've never been you need to go today, and have some saki while youre at it. It's worth it! read more

So, husband and I aren't sushi people. We didn't order sushi. Sushi seems to be big here, but I couldn't bring myself to order something cold and raw, when we weren't with people to show us the ropes. I just like to eat hot cooked food. They were very friendly. We enjoyed the tempura. The man ordered beef bulgogi, and I ordered chicken yakisoba. Both were good. The yakisoba seemed chewier than I anticipated, but I've never had it before. Never liked sushi but when I came here changed my life entirely. Great service waitress lady there is wonderful very kind and considerate. Bathrooms are clean always. Sushi and other foods are delicious! Would recommend you coming here and trying the Volcano roll or the B.S.C roll if you have never tried sushi and if you love crab as well. I love Ozeki. I felt compelled to give them a review after seeing only a 3.5 star rating. Great sushi, nice people, great atmosphere.

I had high hopes. Ordered the tobiko and chicken fried rice and ahi tower. I am allergic to the nightshades, tomatoes, potatoes, all the peppers and eggplant. I asked about ingredients and informed them of my allergy. When the tower arrived it was announced to not have any Chile sauce, IT HAD Siracusa sauce. I called the server over and she said they would do it over. They took the ahi tower away and brought a plate back with what looked like a different plate. THEY DID NOT make a new one they had wiped and redid the obvious sauces and one bite later I was suffering. I let them know this was unacceptable and it is a real allergy. The older woman then asked if they "really have to make a completely NEW one?" I said yes especially since I had originally asked for the ahi tower without ANY chilies. BTW fried rice was lackluster yet the tobiko was very good. So uneven. The bummer was them trying to pass off the tainted tower off as new. Not coming back. read more

In terms of the food itself the quantity given is a good amount and the taste of the food is pretty decent. However, it is NOT worth the price. Katsu I ordered was about $16 and price of the other entrees in their menu ranged from $12-20ish. But the owner who owns the place and the servers are very friendly providing good service and dining experience. Minus the price, I am overall satisfied with my experience here. Planned on 3 stars based off experience in restaurant. Went for lunch, no lunch menu. Nice decor, pleasant interior. Zero 'affordable' lunch or bento items. No kids menu. I did not want to spend $15 on teriyaki chicken for a not even 3 year old when knowing she would only take a few bites. I understand inflation but $15 is Seattle price for teriyaki, not Yakima. The rolls, ranging from about $13-$20 and the poke @ $24 I thought was also pricy, seems to way outpace inflation considering rent can't be that much, again Yakima not Seattle. With that said, the star deduction comes because the overpriced rolls, which were the equivalent of grocery store quality were ok but I noticed the tuna in the roll was brown to the point, looking back it should not have been served. I did not eat more than a few bites but that evening my wife and kid both were sick, guessing that was the cause. Next time I would go to Sumo, at least they have bento boxes during lunch for around $12. read more

this place is one of the best sushi restaurants I've been to in a very long time. The atmosphere is very calming and let's you enjoy your meal for as long as your stay. Also I noticed that the restaurant was extremely clean and smelled nicely not a fish which is something I greatly appreciate. Everything me and my husband ordered was absolutely amazing and you can taste the freshness and quality in their food. The softer is also very attentive and reassuring and even very friendly. Your sushi oasis in Eastern Washington. This little gem on Summitview offers the discriminating foodie an excellent option in "The Palm Springs of Washington", known to all as Yakima. I'm in Yakima quite a bit, and when my girlfriend and I think of places to go, we always come back to Ozeki's. I'm so glad that she's regular here (she and the woman here are the closest of friends, we're always in good hands). I've come here primarily for rolls and also for miso soup. The miso is decent, but the rolls are always the bomb! There as good as ones I've had in any west coast city. They have their own rolls, and they also use unique ingredients for them as well. The only problem here (as with most sushi joints) is knowing when to say when---I swear, every time I come here, I eat a way too many rolls!! (But that's ok, right!?) :) read more

This place had great customer service. The sushi was a hit and miss depending on the rolls. There are two things that fell short for me: 1. It was kind of hot in there. 2. Their baked salmon rolls had some sort of ground up salmon balls on top. It wasn't a baked salmon chunk as I've always had it in every sushi place I have been to. On top of that the roll was kind of cold :( so I don't know if they pre make them and freeze the ground baked salmon topping but the flavor was off. Completely off. My overall experience here is that the customer service was really good but their sushi lacked a bit in flavor and it was a bit different. In my opinion the roll with the ground baked salmon should be modified or eliminated from their menu as it is one of the more pricey rolls but completely dissapointed. On the upside the spicy tuna was fresh, the vegetable tempura and philly rolls were good also. I feel that if the owners just tweek their menu a little this place would be worthy of 4 to 5 stars but for now Im gonna say that 3 stars is fair as it is not horrible but i also wasn't 100% satisfied with going there. read more

I liked the atmosphere and service but the food was only so-so and felt overpriced. I did not have sushi, which is what they are known for though. I had mixed feelings about the food. I had the pork Katsu and really did not care for it. It just was very bland, even with the dipping sauce. It came with a side salad and the salad dressing was really quite good - it had a unique flavor. I don't recommend the Katsu but I'd bet they have other things that are pretty good. read more

I recently moved here and asked for recommendations for Sushi and this place was recommended. Our family had the hummingbird, crispy California roll, the ultimate dragon roll, and our toddler had chicken Yakisoba. We were pleasantly surprised. Our favorite was the ultimate dragon roll and we will definitely return to try other sushi options. The Yakisoba was ok. While the waitstaff was delightful and the food was delivered quickly, I was completely underwhelmed by Ozeki. The first thing I noticed was the extremely annoying bell on the door that rang for a very long time when anyone came in or went out. My edamame was mushy, the yellow tail was grey and bland, and the tuna tower was surrounded by sauces that overpowered the flavor of the tuna. I recommend finding another place for sushi. read more
