When my Vizio TV blew out in my living room, I of course went to my go to place for Appliances and Electronics in my home town, PC Richard & Son. We have bought many items here and always a good experience. This time we needed a new TV ASAP. Upon entering we were looking for the last salesperson we bought our refrigerator from but he was off that day, so Steve helped us. We looked at several TVs and choose a 43" LG Flat Panel. Before we purchased the TV they took one from store room in a box, opened it to test the all was ok and we found the TV did not turn on, only distorted pixels. This is their new procedure because sometimes the items are taken home, damaged, usually by being dropped and then returned and state it came out of the box like that. It's also good because in my case I would had to return it, another trip back to the store and set it up again. So of course they brought another out, tested ok. Then paid for it with my PC Richard Credit Card, no interest for 12-24 months. We also purchased an extended 2 year warranty. For pricing I asked for their best and I know they did because we receive special pricing with my union for PC Richard and called to verify the union pricing and what I paid was less than the union pricing. We also received lower pricing on the last item we purchased. It's been almost 3 weeks and TV is working fine. I would highly recommend this PC Richard, a neighborhood friendly store. Customer service is no longer a strength The salesman was excellent but the 2 delivery men not only erred in connecting my appliance but damaged a second appliance during installation. I had a horrible experience using PC Richards to purchase a new washer and dryer for my home. I will preface this with stating that the salesman Denes was wonderful and very helpful in helping select the right appliance for my home. He did nothing wrong. I bought a whirpool dryer to replace an old kenmore dryer that had served us well for over 25 years. The technician who did the installation stated I needed new tubing for the dryer vent and that he could do the installation for $90. He performed the installation, left, and we noticed that the new dryer was taking over 5 hours to barely dry a small load of clothing. The ducts had been thoroughly cleaned prior to this new dryer installation. A service tech was sent in to evaluate the dryer, and he stated nothing was wrong with dryer but he would issue a credit for an exchange as we were unsatisfied with the dryer purchased. He found it odd though, as this whirpool typically did not cause issues for most customers. I returned to pc richards, Denes said maybe you just got a lemon, it happens sometimes. We exchanged for a Maytag dryer. The same original technician came to perform the installation. In the process he also broke our bathroom door, stated he knew it wasn't working but had no idea how to fix it. He left, and within a few weeks we noticed the lint collection tray was not catching any lint. Coincidentally, I had a home improvement specialist at the house looking at our laundry room since we are looking to do some work there. I asked him if he could check the dryer for me. Immediately he noticed what you will see in the attached photo. The duct tubing was squished into a smaller diameter tubing, with lint all around the tubing, creating a huge fire hazard. Imagine if a piece of lint hit the pilot light and created a fire, or if we had ran the dryer and a piece of lint had caught fire? All from the carelessness of PC Richards technicians. The best part is, when I went into PC richards to tell them about everything in person, the nice man at the desk suggested this occurred because the technician who installed the dryer had come to our home on a weekend. So a weekend versus a weekday installation makes a difference when it comes to safety? The manager who I spoke to on the phone offered a $100 refund to my card, but also suggested that the poor installation was possibly done by someone from my family! Make this make sense!!! Delivery window was 7am- 5pm. Showed up 90 min late. Called said they were going to be there at 5:15pm means 6:30pm. Then called 5 min before they got here. Customer service stinks. Needed a part went to hardware store and didn't come back. When my wife called the store she was then informed they weren't coming back. A WHOLE day wasted. I have been going to PC Richards for at least 30 years. I've used the ones in Levitown, Melville, and Commack locations. Never had a problem and always was treated right with great staff. Tonight I walked into the New Hyde Park store at around 7 p.m. . The store was empty and numerous salespeople milling around. I did my research and saw the telivision i wanted to purchase and a few add ons to go with it. I approached the saleman (male, 50's, white hair) in the TV department who was at the desk and asked him if he could assist me. Stated that he was busy helping someone else with a sound bar. I stated ok ill wait until your done. Never saw him again untit 20 minutes later he was statnding near the mattresses texting on his phone like a teenager girl. He made eye contact with and totally disregarded me. Whie i was waiting the store manager i believe and another sales person were walking around assisting a couple. Not a word from them if i was being helped. I also obeserved a majority of the staff were all on their phones oblivious to what was going on in the store. I wonder if the shoplifters are aware. Any way I left. Like I said i used PC Richards for long time and made major purchases for my house over the years. I wanted to give them at least one more shot so I drove to the Garden City location. NIght vs Day. AS soon as I went down the escalator a manager I believe (dark skined, 40 yrs old) immediatly greeted me and got on the intercom to request a salesperson to television section. Shortly afterward Jordan assisted me with the purchase of the television. Iwas in and out of the store in 20 minutes. The staff at Garden City are true proffesionals. The New Hyde Park store need special attention, espicially Mr television sales guy. read more

WORST WORST WORST STORE EVER. We got a refrigerator few months back but It broke down out of nowhere. I went to the store they were supposed to send me a new one they didn't for 2 weeks. no updates sent nothing from their side. Writing this on behalf of my grandparents, who are in their 90s. They ordered a washing machine and had delivery on June 12th. Delivery measured the front door and informed them all was good. After delivery, grandparents found that part of the molding on the front door was gone, along with any debris. No notice, no apology. I sent an initial email with damage estimates to the damageclaims@pcrichard email on June 26th and received an email June 30th from a Mr. Tony Matja that "all information provided and have forwarded to the subcontracting party in charge. As of last report, they were still reviewing this claim". After no response and a follow-up on July 8th, I was informed by Mr. Tony Matja that now a "Mr. Vano" would be the representative I would be contacting. I spoke with Mr. Vano on the phone, who attempted to get me to tell him the price of the damage estimates so he could "make it right". He said he would look at the email and get back to me. As of today, July 19th, over ONE MONTH after the incident, I have received no confirmation of damage coverage, no check and no resolution. No shame of taking advantage of older people. read more

Dishwasher was delivered defective hose for draining. Installer did not have replacement. Did not check before uninstalling old unit. Asked for $150 additional to replace valve under sink they said was leaking and could not turn off all the way. Only after this did they inspect unit after bringing it into my house, to discover broken drain hose from new dishwasher. They chose not to bring the old one back into the house, but leave the broken new one. Not the best experience so far. will see how long this takes to correct by PC Richards. read more

*BEWARE* Absolutely abyssmal. Do NOT purchase any of their warranty services, and probably not an air conditioner from them either. This is currently the third air conditioning unit that I have had to replace from them. All with the same issue, that I was told has been fixed (It was not, clearly). When you have an actual problem and need it fixed asap, the service is nowhere to be found. Currently have an air conditioner than needs to be ON considering its over 85 degrees every day with ~80% humidity. The air conditioner is currently leaking all over the place. I need to open up the AC and take a roll of paper towels to it every 6 hours or so, or else I get a stream of water and a huge puddle in the room. Think of the potential for mold, electrical damage, etc. Called PC Richards Service on Monday to fix this. Was told earliest would be on Tuesday of the next week (obviously I can not go a week and a day of an AC puddling the room). They then say they can try and get someone sooner and I will receive a call back later Monday, that same day. I never received any calls from PC Richards on Monday. I call back on Tuesday to see where we are at. They say the earliest is Monday and after telling them my situation once more, they say that they found a third party called Leotech Solutions that can do it Wednesday or Thursday. Leotech were supposed to call me on Tuesday immediately after my call with PC Richards (so they said). They failed to call me all day, until 7:42pm. They tell me the soonest they can do is Monday, maybe Saturday. I tell them that I was told Wednesday or Thursday and they blamed me for not picking up the phone earlier. They told me they tried to call me three times. My phone has been fully operational and never received any calls from them all day until then. The moment that call started with Leotech Solutions, the woman on the phone was incredibly hard to understand (mumbling with a heavy accent), and straight up rude and unprofessional. Now it is Wednesday. Thankfully my airconditioner works, mind you its leaking all over the place. But it keeps the room cold. Imagine if it wasnt functional in this heat and PC Richards is here saying they do not service air conditioners, but outsource the work to a third party which they have NO CONTROL over. I am currently waiting for another call, to hopefully get this solved. TLDR: Do yourself a favor, and do NOT under ANY circumstances opt for the warranty from PC Richards if you are not ready for the hassle that will come along with it. read more

They have no sense of teamwork, as a customer if the other Salesman is not available to assist you, somebody should be able to assist you. So this saleman asked somebody to help us out, this salesman who he asked said "I am not going to help you" loud and clear that anybody could hear. So this person who always help us every time we go there asked the one in the front to assist us, and no one moved, what a day to start. This will reflect on how the manager/supervisor of this store handle this store, I'm hoping that somebody who is above them will do a surprise check on this store. My problem isn't with the store. The people in the store were all very nice and very helpful. My problem comes with the service. My wash machines been making noise I called up technician comes and says everything's fine I call back I videotaped the machine, making noise and played it to the gentleman on the phone and he said oh yeah that doesn't sound right I'll send the guy out, same gentleman comes back and said that's all normal. I said there's no way in hell that's normal and he says that's the normal wash machine noise but if you want me to fix it, I'll change the parts and it's gonna cost you but if it's normal what's to fix? needless to say I kicked him out of the house that's my reason for three stars. read more

In August 2023 my bedroom and living room air conditioners both broke. I went to PC Richards in New Hyde Park. That was a BIG mistake. Everything went wrong, all their fault: 1. I paid in full at that time for the 2 machines. The salesman gave me his business card and told me to call if I had any problem. He never answered the phone and didn't return my calls. 2. The salesman said that the sleeves needed to be measured. I had to wait 3 days for an appointment with the man who measures. He took 4 days to transmit the information. Why did it take him so long?! 3. Once it was transmitted, the store chose the Friedrich air conditioners for me, according to this information. Then I had to wait 3 days for the machines to be delivered to the store, then 3 more days until they were delivered. 4. The bedroom AC was fine, but the delivered living room machine was a 110, instead of a 220, which was needed. Either the measuring man made an error or the person in the store ignored the report, ordered the wrong AC. 5. I called the store and the salesman who answered the phone told me it was my fault that the wrong machine was ordered. MY fault?? I didn't tell them what machine to order. The PC Richards staff did all the decision making, I just paid the bill. The man on the phone didn't believe me and I had to send him a photo of the plug of the old machine. 6. The correct machine was ordered. 3 day wait for delivery to the store, then 3 more days for installation. 7. The installers were in a big rush. They just put it in the wall, handed me the remote, and left. I turned it on and it wasn't working correctly. It blew cool air for 2 minutes, then hot air for 5 minutes, then 2 cool, 5 hot, continually. I didn't want to call PC Richards because I got no satisfaction from anyone working there, so I called Friedrich. That man told me that I wasn't using the settings correctly!! 8. By then it was September, the heatwave over, so I let it go, thinking that maybe you can't test an air conditioner if it's not hot outside. The fall and winter passed, and the spring arrived with a heatwave. I tried the air conditioner and it still didn't work correctly. I called PC Richards and explained the problem. The salesman said he will not give me a new machine, even though the broken one was new, never used. He said I had to call an AC repair service. I called and they came. They tested the machine and said there was a leak, and he could repair it in 5 days. He said it would be better than new because Friedrich uses foreign parts and he uses American. I knew that if I called PC Richards, they wouldn't give me a new one, anyway, so I let him take it away for repair. 9. It was repaired in 5 days and a delivered a few days later. The repairman turned it on and said it was working perfectly, but I cannot use it as is. It will overheat because the PC Richards delivery man left the grill in the carton instead of putting it on the back of the machine. There is a little tag on the front of the machine saying that the grill must be installed in the back. 10. I called PC Richards and told this information to the salesman who answered the phone. He said I had to call the service department. So I did. If anyone in PC Richards tells you that they will find out the information you need and will call you back, do not hang up. Say that you will hold on, no matter how long it takes, because they will not call you back. They said that they could not get another grill. 11. So I deserve a new AC, no? I let them fix a new machine, because that's what they insisted on. I had cooperated. But there was no resolution to fixing this except to give me a new AC. BUT the salesman in the service department didn't want to give me a new one. He told me to describe the AC because he didn't believe that this problem was real. He was accusing me of substituting another broken machine to get one for free. I told him that I was not home because I am a senior citizen and spending my days in the nearby cooling center, the local public library, because weeks were going by in the peak of the summer, because they were being so difficult. He said that even if I am not home, the machine is in the living room, so I must pass it all the time and should be able to describe it. Well, I'm sorry, but I couldn't. I didn't go looking at it, and when the machine isn't on, the drapes cover it, anyway. I told him to come over to see it, if he doesn't believe me. 12. So then after holding on a long time, he came back on the phone and told me that he has a photo of the AC that the repairman took and the grill is on it. The grill was NOT on it! The repairman was the one who told me that it wasn't on, and I 12. needed it. I told him to come over to see for himself, because there was NO grill on the machine!!! 13. I came to this store instead of Best buy due to its proximity and I'm thoroughly annoyed by every single second I wasted here. I came looking for a very specific adaptor and tried to find it myself for the first five minutes in an empty store with two sales associates nearby. Neither one attempted to assist me and instead began to engage in a boisterous conversation about preferences in women. Finally, I decided to ask the lady working the Customer Service (?) counter and she just pointed me out to the sales associates who were conversing. On Sunday July 14, 2018 my wife and I went to PC Richards in New Hyde park we were attended to by Mitch who was very helpful and did not make us feel pressured into purchasing a refrigerator, we were than assisted by John. Both were outstanding and knowledge on the refrigerator that we purchased he then proceeded to check the competitor sites (Lowe's, Home Depot, etc) all locations had the same price. We are expecting our delivery on Tuesday 7/16/19. Will keep you posted on the delivery process. When heading to the store ask for Mitchell and John they completely understood our needs. I should have seen the signs of this poor operating branch, when people were walking out in droves, with nothing purchased. That was overlooked by me. I spoke to the entrance guy upfront for assistance in the computer and printer section, not once but twice. Now, saying that the place was busy will be an exaggeration. There was more employees than customers today. The entrance guy then told a fellow employee to assist me, after 20 minutes of waiting. However, that employee chose to hide somewhere. Buyer beware. Purchased new refrigerator and what was sent looked like it was in a front end collision with crumpled metal on the bottom of the unit and dents all over except for the doors. Interesting, most people would not even look at it until installed, letting the guys slip it right in to the refrigerator pocket in the kitchen. If you buy from these guys, really check out what you get before they bring it into your home....or, you could just shop somewhere else. Will update my review if they are able to make right. OK 6 Hours Later - Here is the summary. Came with new refrigerator. No obvious damage or dents that I could see while refrigerator had protective wrap on the street. I notice that the doors are not lined up. New delivery guys say they can adjust it. They bring it inside and surprise, it does not fit. Ok, I say leave it and they vanish (of course without adjusting the doors). Now I ask my neighbor, who is kind and a contractor, to cut down one the sides of the cabinet frame so it can fit. I've been here before and purchased a few things. Usually a good experience. 2 paper white readers and headphones. Minor items. Sales experience was usually good especially with the higher ups. Today I just wanted to browse Bluetooth speakers and audio in general and this salesman was just friggin hovering over me. Creepy and didn't know a whole lot about the product as he tried to pitch me on it. Then just looking at 4K UHD tvs, a customer asked another sales person, "what makes this UHD tv different from the other more expensive UHD tvs?" The salesman started talking about a comparison of car engines.... but the customer asked specifically about what metric they used to distinguish one tv from another since they use the same technology and it's the same brand. The salesperson even started out saying maybe it's 3D...which it clearly was not. The dearth of knowledge was just hard to hear, walked the hell out of there. To the owners, you have a long established presence in the town and I hope you are able to accept this advice. Your sales people (at least the two above mentioned) need to be trained in sales technique, and product details. I wasn't ready to buy, but that guy was. Product knowledge these days is critical because most of the people walking through your door are already informed via their own research in the internet. If you can't answer their question truthfully and substantially they'll just go to Bestbuy and buy it without a salesperson's help. If you're going to sell me a product, you should know more about it than I do. The salesperson in the scenario I saw was more of a hindrance than an asset. While it may seem silly, you should randomly quiz them throughout the week about any new product. read more

After purchasing 6 appliances in the past year I needed repair on the Maytag refrigerator I had delivered in February of last year. I called for service in December and had a service person visit and attempt to repair the icemaker. He told me it had been installed wrong and if the problem continued the icemaker would need to be replaced. Well the problem continued and I called PC Richards only to be told the warranty expired 2 weeks ago. Their advertising says "we stand behind every item we sell", not so much. It was their poor installation in the first place that caused the problem followed by the repair not correcting the problem less than 2 months ago. They offered no solution short of me paying $200 additional. I am done with PC Richard. I tried to shop local from a family owned business and was punished for my effort. Beware! read more

I was going to order it to pick up in-store later on today. I go back on the website only a couple hours later and noticed the same model Tv went up $100 dollars in price. I was so upset because I was about to purchase it and now it was much more. So I called the store and spoke to a sales person (who at first was not very helpful) but then I spoke to Roy the Assistant manager and he heard that I was about to pick it up in-store and told me I can have the Tv for the same price as I originally saw!! DISASTER! A TOTAL DISASTER! I SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT MY APPLIANCES SOMEWHERE ELSE, the delivery and installation guys did a horrible job, they scratched my dining table, scratched my brand new laminate floor, since the moment they got in my hous they showed a nasty attitude, smelling like marijuana, saying swear words and put the heaviest tools over my fragile dining table without protection. They blocked my driveway with their truck and my spouse who suffers from panic/anxiety attacks and PTSD attacks found herself very frightened for their terrible attitude, so she locked herself with the kids next door, my son asked them politely to move their truck from our driveway and as doing it they showed a terrible attitude. And the worst thing was that i paid great money to get the installations which they still didn't do, they didn't install my refrigerator and instead they broke my pipes under the sink and now i have a big leak in my house. The stove has not been given yet, they gave us the wrong microwave, the new fridge isnt installed again, and i called 6 times to PC Richard on Hillside Avenue New Hyde Park New York. Noboydy has solve me the problem. I called the main office and i submitted a damaged claim. It's been over a week and in my house i have a fridge that doesnt function, the wrong microwave and a stove that has not come yet. I don't recommend this and i give this 0/10 read more
