I recently purchased a bed at this PC Richard location and my experience was absolutely fine. The salesperson, Malik, and the manager-on-duty (Omar?) extensively discussed price, delivery, removal with me...Both were professional and friendly. And when a little glitch developed the day before delivery, the store manager handled it to my satisfaction. So...I will certainly consider PC Richard for appliances and furniture (though their selection of furniture other than bedding is limited) in the future. Debated granting 4 or 5 stars, going with 5 because the overall experience was essentially stress-free. read more

Terrible experience at the East Hanover, NJ store. Although they claimed to price match, they don't , first I was told the other store was not a brick or mortar or an authorized GE dealer - both untrue. Then I was insulted asking to confirm that I was looking at the same model. I did my homework and it was the exact same serial number. Then I was told the price could be accommodated, but it would come off of a different item I was purchasing. I wait for the sales person to do the paperwork and the price difference was not matched. Claiming the manager could only approve $100 off - very disappointing. I don't know if this was because I was a woman alone purchasing appliances - they got the wrong lady. read more

I think this place is still in business because it's the only game in town. From purchase to installation, I was unimpressed with this company. We bought a window air conditioning unit with installation. The sales guy never responded to emails asking for a COI, required by our landlord. I had to call and visit the store in order to get the COI. Additionally, the installers asked for an additional $80 because they added a 2x4 for some reason...and when asked for a receipt the price suddenly became $40. I felt like I was doing business with a corrupt company. Plus, the installers caulked the window until into place. Now I can't remove it for the winter or if I leave the apartment. Zero stars. Scum of the earth. Daughter bought an air conditioner that she never took out of the box and never used. It is brand new. The box was opened, and now they won't accept a return. Their unfriendly customer policy is that they won't accept a return if the box has been opened. They claim no one will want to buy it. I call bull. HORRIBLE. I purchased a laptop and a few months later, it broke. I was lied to and told by the sales girl that it was a new laptop. I had purchased a warranty so I sent it in to get fixed. A week later, the laptop comes back, and it's still broken. I asked for an exchange, and they told me they don't have the authority to give me an exchange and that I had to go through their customer service. Customer service told me I was out of luck. This PC Richard location has been here for a while. It is two levels and is spacious. Sells everything from TVs to coffee makers, headphones and beyond. Usually the help there is pretty good at helping you pick out or find what you came here looking for. I have purchased tvs from here and other things. Recently it has not been crowded here, which means not having to wait on any lines. read more

I walked in trying to buy $900 worth of electronics (3 of the same item.) First person asked me to wait while he got someone else to help. Second person came, got the items, then asked if I had ID, I said yes. Once at the register he said he had to talk to another manager. Waited, waited, waited, waited, I finally gave up and left. (The people helping me were having a nice chat by the front door.) Really bad customer service. The purchase was not a problem at Best Buy! Edit: From 1/5 to 2/5 because hey offered a partial (unfortunately not full) credit after my post. Don't buy a mattress here. They'll give vague promises about a warranty, but then use specific criteria to deny the warranty that was never mentioned when first buying. I bought a more expensive firm mattress which should easily last 10 years, but it's already sagging and causing back pain after 2-3 years. Customer service will also bounce you back and forth before giving a real answer. Guess I have to endure more back pain until it meets their criteria. read more

They finally returned my money! On 9/13 I let PC Richard know I would be going to small claims court on the 19th in a last attempt to give them a last chance before taking it to court. No check came in those days and so on the 19th I went down and filed the case. The next day a portion of the check came in the mail. Finally on the 29th they issued me a check for the remaining. A solid month + over since they first said to give them a day or two to issue the check, 2 months since they first picked up the washer dryer I had to return because of a faulty service check, and 3 months since I first called them to report the faulty setup. Idk...maybe like .5 extra stars for the relief for finally actually returning my money? But its been 3 months of nonsense and a trip to fidi to go to small claims leading up to it. At this point, take my story and make your own decision but personally this situation has left a permanent impression for me of PC. read more

Looking for a printer, walked in and after a few minutes, selected a small HP laser printer. Roberto had been waiting for a decision and as soon as I decided , he finalized the sale and I was out the door with the printer.REally nice after a long day,(mODEL LJM11W) The printer installation from HP online initially dragged on for about an hour and then, suddenly the HP installation kicked in with recognition of my software, and did a great job adjusting whatever so the printer was online and connected with my computer. Today we walked in right before closing ( didn't realize they changed hours to close at 6pm ) and the sales staff on the floor were more than happy to help us. We needed a new vacuum, and a chair for my home office desk. He showed us some different options, let us test a few out, and we made our purchases. Plus, both were on sale. This is also a great location to pick up a flat-screen TV as there are always some good sales going on. We saw some awesome screens and might have to go back. read more

The salespeople don't know the first thing about most everything they're selling, but this is high-ticket stuff and it's regrettable you cannot trust anything they have to say (scary), including and above all Brian. The salespeople will also tell you they won't price match Amazon; in fact they will if the vendor and shipper is Amazon, so push for that with a manager. Still: the manager Jamie doesn't quite have a grasp of rules either: You can bring them sales advertised on the Internet by vendors with storefront locations within the appropriate radius but this location won't honor the match! And the assistant manager Anita is so awful, so rude, such a nightmare to deal with, she shouldn't be in the customer-service business. Anita is a nasty piece of work. Also: given these are high-ticket items, take a good hard look at the packaging once the appliances emerge from the basement; do not accept any item with disheveled packaging as it could be damaged inside, and you cannot return some damaged item once you leave the place. The entire staff will fight your asking for a different item, suddenly maintaining every other item like it in the basement is spoken for by all these mysterious people who....call in to put holds on things?! It's utter baloney, and when challenged they will run down there mark the other stock with people's names to carry on the charade. The for-purchase warranties offered don't take into account the manufacturer warranties, which they are also at pains to disguise; these warranties do not extend the manufacturer warranties. Instead, you're meant to place all your trust in PC Richard rando repair people. Some makes of items are secretly not things these people are capable of repairing; what they will offer should something go wrong is a replacement or effectively a credit toward another like item. Problem is, they are out of stock on a lot of better-reviewed applicances quite frequently. Lastly: take a good hard look at the incidental positive reviews for this location--they read as cooked and are often the only review the supposed customer ever wrote. read more

I went in today to buy an AM/FM radio. I paid cash so that I would not potentially be on any E-mail or call lists. I commented that in the PC Richards location in Brooklyn over 10 years ago, if I paid cash I would save money as opposed to using a card. The employee who helped me and checked me out got defensive and basically told me I was lying. I told him, this has nothing to do with your location, this was the Brooklyn location, and it wasn't a big deal, I was only making conversation, but he continued to argue with me telling me that no store ever does that. I am fine with the product I received but that employee has some type of anger issues or is emotionally unstable. He may be good at his job but it is bad business to argue repeatedly with customers and essentially call them liars. Everything needs to improve. Do not even think of going there to buy anything more than a toaster if you are a woman alone. You will get no service and you will be spoken to in a most descending manner manner. The men that work there are very busy on their cell phones. if you come in with a man or you are quite young, you will get attention. I wanted to buy a Tempur-pedic mattress and a new GE washing machine. They didn't see a man with me so I got very little service. They need to get with this century. Women have their own money and make their own decisions. If you go in and want to buy a small item, ie. A toaster you will get attention until somebody else comes along and wants to buy a higher priced item. This leads me to think that they work on commission As a retailer with stores around the country I can tell you that's a bad system. They opened a new store on the west side but if you want a delivery to the east side they tell you to go to that store. I should think I could shop wherever I wish. I had left a review once before and got a text back from someone in the east side store that showed they absolutely pay no attention to what the customer says. whatever blah blah blah the gentleman said it bore no resemblance to that about which I called. My boyfriend bought our mattress from PC Richards exactly one year ago. It is impossible for both of us to sleep because it is sagging so much. I have to hold onto the edge of the mattress to keep from rolling into him! We had PC Richards come and examine it -- the guy who checked it out said it was definitely messed up. We proceeded to get a call saying the mattress was not sagging "enough," and they won't replace it. I bought my previous mattress from a traditional mattress store EIGHT years ago, and it was a million times better than this one. Never shopping here again. read more

Best place to buy a TV. I say that because I needed a new TV. I found one I liked, purchased it, got it home and accidentally found it for less at another store. Lucky break. I returned to P C Richard with my receipt and told them I found it for less. They promptly brought it up on the computer to verify the competitors price. Then they promptly credited my card for the difference. I've never purchased other appliances or electric products at P C. It is my definite go to store for the best value on a TV! Employees are helpful. Be careful of hard sell on insurance for your product. That may just have been a particular employee. I only had the hard sell tactic used on me that one time. We ordered and installed a new washer/dryer with PC Richards. Brian was very responsive and quick in helping us order and scheduling the installation for the new units. The only issues we encountered was the survey conducted prior to the installation to ensure the measurements were correct for the space the washer/dryer would occupy. When the installers came, they said that there wasn't enough clearance with the door closed. This was a little frustrating since that was the point of having the survey, which costed about $75. However, they were able to get the units far enough in so we can close the doors mostly. Also when working with a different salesperson who contacted our property management somehow gave us a quote that we would have to pay $1700 additional to have the units installed for insurance purposes but when we inquired with management, they said that there was no cost. So not sure where that information came from. Aside from these couple things, happy with our experience working with Brian and the speediness in which the units were ordered/delivered/installed especially after the bad experience we had with Precision Appliance Services. read more

One of the worst customer service experience which, deteriorates even further and combative once you pay for the item. I still don't have my over $1,500 product + service delivered or installed and now have to wait for a month - a situation I wanted to avoid so had communicated repeatedly with the salesperson, Anderson. I was very clear and specific with him about my schedule and requirements which he said can be possible to meet but once the payment was made, I not only had to call several times to find out what was going on but unfortunately realized that he basically ignored my needs and only cared about making the sale. (Case in point: he only gave me the option to pay in full only to discover that making a 10% deposit was also fine). When I expressed disappointment, he starts yelling at me, the customer. They also charge at least 50% more for installation services. I've asked to speak with a manager but have not heard back. Very disappointing. read more

I bought a dishwasher here a few years that I'm quite happy with. The service was great back then. I returned to look at refrigerators and over the range microwaves this afternoon, but two sales associates seemed more interested in socializing and the female one made snide remarks about me measuring the interior dimensions of a fridge (did she think I couldn't hear?) and walking away than actually asking me if I needed any help. I actually thought the female associate was a customer at first. This is the second time I've come to look at appliances here- last week, there was no one upstairs at all to answer my questions. There was one other employee up there working hard today, but he was already helping someone with another customer in line. The two other employees disappeared. I just left, I still have questions. Thank God I called P.C. Richard & Son's Upper Eastside location - they saved the day for my family. From the knowledgeable receptionist, to the A/C expert on staff, Peter Castle, I got all the help I needed PLUS MORE. Amazon and UPS had failed miserably to deliver an air conditioning unit to an apartment in East Village we just rented for our daughter. Dealing with dead of summer heat, we'd timed everything for delivery, including a handyman to install that and a few other items. Unfortunately, UPS and Amazon botched it. We called the seller, and even they couldn't convince UPS to not return it to them. To make matters worse, now it was oversold and the seller couldn't resend it back to us. Beyond frustrated, I feverishly searched online. Home Depot? Loads of choices...just not in stock. I call several other stores that look like air conditioning related sellers. Nothing. I'm calling from out of state and have no clue about Manhattan appliance sellers. OMG. Then P.C. Richard & Son comes up in one of my search queries. I call the first number listed for them and am met with pleasant, informed people who listened to my frantic plea for a "wall mount unit 10K BTU and 115Voltage" stat! I was sent to the right person. Peter Castle assured me he had 3 daughters and understood my situation. He was awesome. The prices were the lowest I'd encountered. When he realized another location was closer, he wrote me up and had the unit waiting for pick up at the front desk at the 23rd and Broadway location. I would not recommend buying mattresses at this store. The sales manager was distracted many times during the time I was with him. Had to return the first mattress ( too firm) & when I was told to take it off frame and put on floor & " have kids jump on it " to break it in ... it went downhill from there. Malik, our sales person, was extremely friendly, knowledgable about all of the products of which I inquired and incredibly helpful.
