AVOID!! Poor installers and poor communication. This company is old and very disorganized. 116 years of reliability? NOPE. I ordered an AC unit on July 28. I paid for installation $195 and the installers didn't install the rear grill which apparently is a vital piece for this unit to work properly. For a month we were dealing with an AC unit that would blow cold air for 5min then just regular air. My smart plug told me, we paid over $100 just for that device. It took weeks to get a diagnosis, and the another week to get the part that the initial installers didn't take out of the box. On PC Richards 2nd attempt to install the missing part, that person came hours after the expected time at which point he could not install it. Now I have to wait again and take time off work dealing with this hot summer and no AC. Ultimately, we found someone else an extra $200 to install it correctly. For almost a month now, we were dealing with an AC unit that would blow cold air for 5min then just regular air. David Danon was the primary point of contact. He was nice initially so I decided to get the unit and give him the credit for the sale. I probably been on the phone with him over 10 times and he stopped being helpful. I'll likely never buy from this store again. Go with Home Depot or Best Buy and save yourself the headache when buying major appliances. read more

I purchased a computer but accidentally ordered the wrong color. Customer service told me they needed to cancel the original order so I could place a new one in the correct color. I followed their instructions and made the new purchase. Then I received an email saying they canceled my new order because they "don't send two computers to one household." The first order had already been canceled at their direction, so this makes absolutely no sense. Now they are holding nearly $3,000 of my money, and I have to wait up to five days to receive my refund. This entire problem was caused by the instructions of Mike R.and Greg the supervisor and the poorly handled ordering system. I thought Lee was a good salesmen but I was ultimately wrong. Lee told me because I live in public housing they have a contract I can't buy a dryer. That's 220 volts he was rude condescending and bias. He hung up on me. I then told him I no longer wanted the dryer he stated don't accept it then. Now the driver is calling me! The manager said I talk too much and he would explain their policy to me . WARNING: Do NOT order appliances from P.C. Richard. I ordered a new Frigidaire frenchdoor refrigerator and paid for delivery and for my previous fridge to be removed. The delivery people were rude and negligent and destroyed my new floors, my front door, my door casing/trim, the molding and the fridge itself. Just look at the photos. We had just spent a lot of money to remodel our new home and were excited to move in when this happened. What's worse, I put in a claim for damages with P.C. Richard and they DENIED my claim. They completely deny any liability and left me with almost FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS in damages. I have never encountered such HORRIBLE customer service in my life and will never order from P.C. Horrible customer service. I placed an order over the phone with Steve at the Upper West Side store for a gas stove several weeks ago. My building requires a COI for installation and Steve told me to get him the info ASAP so he could process it. I got it to him within several hours. I called him two days later to confirm receipt and he promised that all was taken care. I called the corporate office the next day to learn that Steve lied and did nothing with the COI information. We got that taken care of, and scheduled delivery and installation today. I was told the window was between 9-12 so I took a half day off from work (keep in mind I do not get unlimited days off.). I called at 11 am to check the status and was told that the product was damaged and I needed to reschedule. I was given no reason as to why this was not communicated to me earlier. read more

went here for an event but while waiting in line, I was able to take a glance around. It was far more bedding than expected, the main floor had as many matttresses as a small Sleepys. The staff was friendly and security was professional. regular shoppers were able to get assistance with their shopping needs, which was a good thing. I have been shopping at P.C. Richard & Son for decades and have always enjoyed supporting locally owned businesses. But I had a horrible experience at the new Upper West Side location after I purchased a microwave two weeks ago. In almost every co-op and condo in NYC, a store is required to provide a Certificate of Insurance (C.O.I.) for delivery or installation of appliances. I sent our building's C.O.I. form to P.C. Richard and waited two weeks for a response. Yesterday, I went to the store and was assured that their insurance company had submitted the C.O.I. to our building. That was not true, and I got into an argument with the clerk who had sold me the microwave. I told him I wanted to cancel the order. As he did that, I asked him how this could have happened, and he loudly said, "This conversation is over!" That caught the attention of the store manager, who rushed over and tried to help resolve the situation. He promised that the missing C.O.I. would be sent by the end of the day. Well, at the end of the day, it wasn't sent, and I had to go back to the store to cancel the order. The manager did apologize and authorized a full refund. Luckily, I discovered that Home Depot has the microwave at the same price, and their costs for installation and removal of the old microwave are $100 cheaper. I'm sad, though, to see how customer service has declined at P.C. Richard. I won't be shopping there again. read more

DO NOT BUY A MATTRESS FROM PC RICHARDS! 5 stars for appliances - I would ONLY buy them from here, they are top notch at appliances, but that's not my recent MASSIVE HEADACHE I got from them selling me a deformed mattress. After weeks of fighting with them, they finally took it back (a technician was sent who told me no one in their right mind would sleep on that) and gave them a report, and they STILL owe me $157 they said they'd not give me back. I am presently fighting through the New York State Division of Consumer Protection to get it back. Also - the people at the store don't know anything about mattresses - and most of them don't know anything about the appliances - you have to do all your research before you go in there - BUT - DO NOT BUY MATTRESSES FROM THEM. I finally went to Raymour & Flanagan on Broadway where Herbert took care of me and it was night and day. I had P.C. Richard install my dishwasher. During the install, the third-party contractors made 2 scratch marks on the floor at the entrance, and acknowledged their fault on the job. I followed up with the company via customer support, and after 3 weeks of communication, they finally sent out a team of contractors to take a look. The team denied my statement, saying there were scratch marks on floor prior to installation, and that these marks are not near the installation area, and thus did not occur during the installation. Customer service repeated the team's statement and denied any further assistance. My experience with P.C. Richard has been unsatisfactory. The contractors were not professional and were not careful on the job. The communication with the company has also been ineffective at resolving this matter. I needed a new microwave and garbage disposal. I went to the P.C. Richards at 205 East 86th Street. The sales person, Malik, was perfectly nice. But then, it just went downhill from there. They said they needed to measure. Fine. They gave me a 4 hour window for when the surveyor was to show up. The 4 hour window came and went. I called and called. One person said he was a block away. That was only one of the lies. He finally showed up 1 hour late ! No apologies, no reasons. The surveyor NEVER Called to say he was running late despite the fact that he had my cell phone and email. When I pointed out that the surveyor could have not only called, but texted or emailed, the customer non-service person smuggly told me that their surveyors don't text or email, purposely missing the point. I finally got the survey done and a delivery date set. Now, about 30 minutes ago, P. C. Richards called to say they have to put the delivery off until August 27 ~ that's 12 days from now. NEVER AGAIN. I wouldn't be so upset if P. C. Richards didn't constantly blabber about how great their service was, but everything they did shows that the customer is their LOWEST PRIORITY. If I could give zero stars I would. I ordered a gas stove with installation and gave a range of dates I could receive the appliance. I was given a date and mentioned what the accepted delivery window was for the building. Stacey, the person who sold me the stove said she was glad I mentioned it and made note of the times. The day before the scheduled delivery, the delivery window was confirmed to be from 10am to 4pm, which was within the acceptable window. I did not hear anything from them the next day until I called at 3:30. The automated tracking system said the item would be delivered between 5:45 and 9:45pm. I called the store and whoever answered said if delivery window was noted, it would make it there on time. I called the 1-800 line and the rep said they were about 2 hours out (with and ETA of after 6:30) and I should call the store. I called and asked to speak with the manager and Carlos eventually got on the phone. I was on the phone with him for 20 minutes while he "checked on things", then my call was disconnected. I called back and asked why I was hung up on and where was my appliance that I paid over $1,000 for. He said "Miss, it's a hot day, we are very busy selling air conditioners" I asked if the people selling the air conditioners were the same ones delivering my stove. He said no and that they had a lot of deliveries. I asked why my delivery window was confirmed twice the day before and why I had been asked for the window in the first place and Carlos, the manager said "Just because she wrote the delivery window down, doesn't mean that's when it's going to be delivered." No apologies, not even when I explained took the day off. No promises to make it better, to resolve the issue. No attempts at any sort of customer service. I was shocked at the callousness of the response. I have since received a refund, that I had to go to the store to get, because as Carlos, the worst manager I have ever had the displeasure of interacting with said "Best I can do is store credit". I am appalled that a manager would pour gas on this poor customer service. I should also mention, we did finally receive a call from the delivery person at 5:45pm saying they were 30 minutes out. I bought a Bosch dishwasher in 2015 with a 10-year warranty. The pump has failed. The Bosch repair guy showed up and noticed some mouse droppings when he pulled it out. He clutched his pearls and left. I have been dealing with PC Richard about this warranty service. They claim that mouse droppings void the warranty! There are no more mice, and I sent them the invoice for the exterminator. They won't do anything. THERE IS NOTHING ON THE BOSCH WARRANTY PAGE about mice. I haven't been able to find the PC Richard warranty, but I bet it doesn't say anything either. I will no longer do business with PC Richard, even though they have been lovely in the past and are nearby. I will shop around for a cheap dishwasher, with the usual warranty. read more

When purchasing at PC Richards I've always have a positive experience. The issue comes when something goes wrong. I've been a loyal PC Richards card carrying customer since 2005. My first appliance had from them for 16 years. Purchased a Samsung refrigerator in 2021. Have had them out 7-8 times so far for service. From ice maker breaking to damaged door replaced to now going on a week with a broken 62* freezer which is driving temp up in upper fridge. Ive lost HUNDREDS of dollars of groceries which in this economy is especially brutal. PC richards service came out 4 days later and fixed the issue by defrosting the ice maker. Only few hours later temp kept rising. Came back today (2 days later) and basically said has never seen something like this before. Fan is blowing and all is running just not cold enough. Doesnt think its compressor but decided to order one. Advised me to contact store to exchange feidge as too new for this to happen. Also said my be freon leak. Called customer service and spoke to manager ELLEN who told me they could not do exchange as parts were ordered. Suggested I purchase a "small fridge" and put in my DINING ROOM as she has. Advised that tge appliances today are not like when we were "coming up". Also told me I was lucky the appliance had made it successfully through the 1 year manufacturers warranty! (Which it hadnt). I told her I would be more careful in the future about WHERE I spent my money and how much I spent on appliances (this refrigerator was quite pricey). To which Ellen replied she suggested in the future I did my research when purchasing. I advised her that I thought I had. SHAME ON YOU PC RICHARD's. Your tech's are telling customers they have a lemon and to seek an exchange yet your customer service agents are belittling our experiences. I have been with out a fridge for 1 week Fridge has been service 5 times 3 by Samsung directly. Now PC & Richard and son send two technicians First did not know what we had doing but made a report. I have been a customer of PC Richard for over 40 years. I bought a Friedrich air conditioner 3 years ago for over $1,000.00, along with a 5 year service contract. This season the unit stopped working. PC sent their contractor Kool Kwik to repair it and I was told they had to take it out of the wall and to their shop to repair it - leaving an empty hole in the wall. I asked for a replacement and that was refused. They picked it up at the end of May. It has still not been fixed, 2 months later and I have not been offered a replacement. PC Richard has no answers and claims they cannot reach their own service company and they still refuse to replace the unit. Kool Kwik does not return calls. Where do I start I bought a whirlpool washing machine off of PC Richard and son and it's so much things you need to know before buying this thing first off know that it's super sensitive, you have to drain water pipe every time, if it breaks down or acts up once the laundry is locked it will not open and there is no service that will come out and help you, your clothes can get mildew if they are not open, there needs to be a 24/7 service for this kind of thing, once when it was time to drain pipes the machine refuse to tell me so it said call for service, but all I needed to do was drain pipes and it was back up, it's a lot of maintenance and consideration with this machine, and almost makes me scared to do laundry because I'm afraid another issue will pop up model#wfw5090jw1 read more

Refrigerator giving problem in February, took 3 weeks to fix. Works for 1.5 months, same problem again. Sent technicians from the street with off market parts and Samsung void my warranty with me. Call from repairs again they send two other street technician and another two weeks to order parts. During all this time I lost 3 days of work, Cancer medications, food and $300.00 for exterminator. Why? Who is responsible for my lost no one cares only they all said 'I am sorry. I think the Corporate office should answer me for all this since all of them knew I have a Cancer patient at home depends on the Refrigerator for food and keep the medications. You people don't care but you are good enough to collect the money for warranty. So please tell who will reimburse me for my losses.
