When we realized our Frigidaire refrigerator was on its last legs and we urgently needed a new one, we chose P.C. Richard & Son, largely because it's the closest appliance store to our house. We did our research, knew what we wanted, and discovered that all the local stores had identical pricing. So it came down to who could deliver the quickest. P.C. Richard was our first (and, ultimately, only) stop. We were not accosted immediately upon entering, but allowed to wander among the rows of refrigerators on display. When we located the model we'd seen online, the salesman was quick to get our sale completed and our delivery set up. Delivery occurred three days later, and that's where the dissatisfaction began. Our delivery window of 1-4PM got later throughout the day, and delivery finally occurred at 5:15PM, during dinner time and a substantial rainstorm. No courtesy call to let us know they were on the way; I just happened to look out my window and there they were, unboxing my fridge in the rain. Had they let me know they were en route, I could've emptied the old fridge and freezer in advance. I don't want to say the delivery guys were inept, but... why unpack the fridge in the truck and carry dripping wet components into the customers' home? Why not carry the box into our garage and unbox it there? Also, they seemed annoyed that I wanted to wipe the rain off each piece, thereby slowing them down; they didn't bring a ladder and had to use our step stool; and in their haste to get it installed and on to the next customer, they left pieces of plastic wrap embedded under the door handles. Plus, they scratched our freezer drawer. Nice fridge that's working well (a week into ownership), but the delivery experience left much to be desired. read more

The purchasing experience was excellent. Our salesman Charlie was exceptional. Very knowledgeable and sweet. On our experience with him alone I would've given 5 stars. However, the delivery was another story. Upon delivery of our gorgeous new fridge, the delivery people put a huge gauge in our kitchen floor and then rushed out so we would only notice after they left. Just bought a LG stove on 2 /16/26 from the newington store $1500 bucks used it 2 times and it is not working ,i called the store and was told the salesman justin is on vacation and was given a 1-800 number when i called they said they can send a technician on monday i said but its thursday they told me its the only thing they can do ,so i ask if i can bring it back to the store for a refund they said no not until a technician checks it. You walk in the door and they do anything to get your business! Once the product's delivered, it's a different story. I was supposed to receive a 50.00 credit for not hauling away my old stove. Over a three week period I contacted 4 different salespeople who said they'd take care of the credit and email a new invoice which never happened. Tonight a manager called and said there's a 50.00 charge if the installers moved it within the house. I said if I knew that, my husband would have done that. No apology from him for the 4 different run-arounds, no offer for a credit in the future, just "sorry, that's the way it is". Won't be getting my business again!!! read more

As a first-time home buyer who had never purchased kitchen appliances before, Chris explained to me the differences between all the various makes and models of refrigerators, ranges, dishwashers, and microwaves. He helped me select models based on my needs and budget, while maintaining quality. Due to unforeseen issues with spacing, I needed to switch out a couple of the appliances I had initially selected for other models of different sizes, and Chris was happy to make those adjustments. My husband and I just bought our first house and we've been shopping around for a bunch of new appliances, particularly to start, a stove. We went to the Newington location, twice. First time, to get an idea of what was on the market and the second time, to actually purchase what we decided on. Both times, each sales person seemed bothered and uninterested in really understanding what our needs were, and what we were looking for. The first time we were there, the sales person was very condescending and not helpful. The reason we went back for a second time, was because my husband didn't want to shop around and the sale ended on January 28, today. During our second visit to PC, Richards, and Sons, we had a different sales person, and the stove we decided to buy was not in stock. The sales person's demeanor was negative and didn't ask why we were choosing the stove we requested. When I asked him when it would be in stock, he had no idea or direction of when the stove would be in stock for purchase and lacked poor critical-thinking skills. Of course, he suggested something else that was outside of our price range. He was not helpful at all. I think my husband and I were the only customers in the store and so it wasn't like he was running around crazy busy, or anything. Even when I said, "that's OK, we'll go across the street to Best Buy," he didn't seem to give a damn and just said, "ok," and proceeded to walk away. I tried to give him a little bit of a verbal nudge to get him to do his job, and maybe offer other reasonable suggestions but he seemed very uninterested and bothered that we were even there. Not only do we need to buy stove, but we need to buy washer and dryer, refrigerator, and in a couple of months a dishwasher. This could've been the easiest sale ever for this sales person if he was at least congenial. We did end up going to Best Buy and got exactly what we were looking for and it was in stock. Staff was much nicer and very helpful. I'm very disappointed in this location. I guess it's hard to find good employees. read more

Our dishwasher seemed to give up the ghost and our repairman suggested a new one since he had already replaced the circuit board. We ordered a new one and Amir was an absolute delight to work with. When I went to disconnect the old one, I tried a little trick from Youtube and actually got the board to reboot!!! Machine is working fine. I called Amir to cancel new one and he understood. While they did have the best prices around the state, they don't have any in stock. They had the least expensive prices throughout CT with the 8 to 9 places that i shopped at price shopping. It did lend itself to work out in my favor all this running around. I used the price match guarantee at the other place I ended up purchasing from with PC Richard price even though they didn't have a handful of what I asked for in stock. Some models they didn't even know when they'd be getting them in. They said it could be a month or more. Appreciated their honestly. Hector was great to work with while I was there regardless that we didn't purchase there. He was up front and honest with us with his information. Some models we inquired on weren't coming in until November 10th and the day I was shopping at PC Richard was 9.26.20 Again, definitely appreciated his honesty instead of just taking my money and tying it up to hold a spot for an appliance we don't know when it's coming into stock for delivery. So PC Richard did fulfill it's purpose by saving me money from purchasing it elsewhere at least $75 for the price match and then it gets even better. I also saved an additional $100 off the price match price i received. I did this by opening a credit card. PC Richard i believe only offered 10% saving by opening their credit card. So time well spent and thank you PC Richard for having at least good advertised prices that I was able to use. I'll look this place up next time I'm appliance hunting to see if they have in stock models. Their delivery schedule was also good. Bought a not inexpensive Bosch dishwasher a little over 5 years ago, worked great till now. This is NOT a warranty issue: we are willing to pay for repairs. Bosch refuses to touch the dishwasher because the sticker/plate with the model and serial numbers is missing. P.C. Richard delivered and installed it WITHOUT this info. We did not check this, who knew until NOW? Bosch also informed us that the model # on the P.C.Richard invoice was "incomplete" They would not assist us other than to give us appliance repair companies, which was no help at all, none were able or willing. Herb from P.C. Richard found a company out of Agawam willing to come to CT, but they said if it needed parts, they may not be able to get them without those numbers Of course, we would still have to pay for the service charge. Called P.C. Richard back, again, and was given the "we can't/won't help you further. Good luck" response. P.C.Richard sold us a dishwasher we cannot repair. It's a big brick under the counter. Why was that sticker missing? Why is the model number on our invoice incomplete? Did they sell us a refurbished appliance as NEW? Did they sell us one from the "grey market" on the sly? I also found out that there is a statute that makes it illegal for a company to remove this info. Shady. Beware! A warning to others to check for these stickers when you buy any appliance, even from a dealer. read more

After looking at the many washers and dryers on display I chose the Samsung front load washer and matching dryer with pedestals in champagne. The color was beautiful and both are easy to understand, plus they had an app for my phone so I would know when they are done. The delivery and set up was great, it's nice to have experienced delivery people that know how to set up your appliances. I am very happy with the Samsung washer and dryer, they are quiet and efficient plus easy to understand, I love the steam feature for wrinkles. P.C. Richard's in Newington is the only place I buy all of my appliances, they have outstanding service and delivery, there are many appliances on display to chose from and you can't beat their prices! PC Richard & Son services all of the appliances that were transferred to us by the builder for our new home. In that time they have repeatedly made it challenging for us to transfer the builder's name to ours on the warranty, making getting service more complicated. Recently our washing machine broke and they could not get someone out for ten days. We lost power five days ago and the resulting power surge broke something electrical in our refrigerator. We could not get someone out for four days, and when the technician did arrive, he came without any of his tools, so he could not definitively diagnose the issue. I find that pretty unprofessional. We are now told it will take an additional four days minimum to get the replacement part and a technician out, so we will have been without a fridge for just over a week. We were told we were eligible for a loaner fridge, but that we would be responsible for picking it up and dropping it back off. That pretty much guarantees that no one can actually take advantage of that offer - who has the muscle power and truck to haul and load/unload a full-sized fridge? I am 8 months pregnant, I certainly can't lift a fridge. I am really disappointed in the amount of money and time lost between washing our clothes elsewhere, and buying endless takeout since we can't keep any cold food in the house. Update two days later: we have learned that the same technician ordered the wrong part for our fridge because he did not bother to check the model number. My husband has called countless times trying to get this issue addressed. They can't seem to understand that they still have the builder's number and address on the account no matter how many times we ask them to fix it. Delivery guys took the old washer but when my husband and I went to replace the old tub liner with the larger tub liner they became impatient. Unfortunately that led to us messing up the tub install so when they put the washer in the tub it was way too close close to back wall. Now we have to move the washer ourselves, put in new tub liner and re-install washer. And they scratched the wall during installation. read more

I ordered a nearly $9,000 Miele refrigerator, which included installation and haul-away of the old fridge. Someone named Joel (aka "User STR38M") contacted me to verify the new unit would fit our existing space. After we worked through that, Joel informed me there would be an additional $200 charge to install the new fridge and take away the old one. Oh, and it had to be paid directly to the driver IN CASH (I have all of this in writing, since we communicated by text). I asked Joel for his supervisor's name and phone number, which he refused to provide. Next, I called their customer service line and was told by the woman, "I've worked here four years and I've never heard of an additional cash charge that you had to pay at delivery." Yeah, that's because JOEL IS A SCAM ARTIST. He must have something going with the drivers where he gets unwitting customers to pay an extra amount and then they split the free cash? Anyway, I told the nice woman to please cancel my order. If you enjoy getting held up by a petty thief, by all means call PC Richard for your next appliance purchase. A quick review for a quick trip. I'd never been to PC Richard and Son and some of the reviews here made me unsure if I wanted to give them my hard earned money. They had what we wanted (a Samsung flat screen tv) at the price we wanted so we bit the bullet and went. I was so prepared to fend off annoying sales folks but I'm happy to report the most annoying thing was the cologne on one of the sales guys. Whoa! It was an eye burner. We found what we were looking for (that it was in stock and easy to find was sweet). A sales guy offered to ring it up right there in the TV section. He even pointed us to a much cheaper HDMI cable than what we were holding. In and out in 10 minutes without any pressure to buy or pressure to get a warranty. I will definitely shop there again when the need arises. read more

We purchased and had delivered a small chest freezer. After the delivery driver left I noticed there was a back panel missing. The freezer was already unpacked when the truck arrived so I believe it got missed during unpacking. I called customer service and after being put on hold so they could check with someone I was told "oh, some freezers do not come with the panel". That is absolutely wrong. I'm not sure that any of the places that you buy appliances now are 100% without issue. Having said that, I just purchased a new refrigerator from PC Richard and the whole experience from beginning to end was not pleasant. I will say that the management is very professional and responsive, and did compensate me for the fact that the delivery people could not hook up my ice and water to the refrigerator. They refunded me the cost that I had paid for the installation And were very apologetic. The sales person did not use the correct installation code. Therefore, the people that were delivering had no idea that the refrigerator needed to be hooked up. When they called to tell me that they were coming, I'd let them know that they needed to get copper tubing. They showed up almost 2 1/2 hours later and told me it was because the hardware store was so far away from my house. Then they told me that they could not run the copper line because my pipes were behind drywall and spent another hour and a half talking on the phone with their supervisor. I finally told them that I couldn't wait any longer and just to deliver the refrigerator and I would worry about hooking up the line for the ice and water later. The delivery person who was supposedly a licensed plumber per multiple conversations with people at the PC Richard store actually was not a licensed plumber. He asked me if I had pliers so that he could disconnect the old refrigerator from the water source. He did not have tools on the truck or at least the ones he needed to do the job. Now I am going to have to hire a plumber to do it. He ended up cutting the line on the back of the refrigerator so even if I wanted to hook the new one up to the plastic line, I could not. Just purchased a new LG refrigerator for a difficult to fit space. PC Richard's appliance department was recommended to me by two friends. Store Manager, Tom Stagis, impressed me from the get-go by offering a small replacement refrigerator in the event my failing fridge failed. He set me up to get the refrigerator ASAP - which was what happened. He went out of his way to set up a rebate from Eversource. There was no pressure and he was responsive to concerns. I had a great experience in the store with Charlie but I have been waiting around all day for my delivery based in the window I was provided.... called multiple times to see if they would tighten up the window but kept getting the same timeframe. Finally my window came and went... no heads up, no out reach, just an assumption that my time and plans were not important. I called the store and they gave me a different time frame but by now I cancelled plans during the day that I could have followed through on and now have to cancel plans for tonight based on the revised time. It is two weeks before Christmas... I have a ton to do. I am pissed that this company made a change in what was originally a 5 hour window and the new window starts AFTER the first window. No basically waiting all day and still no delivery. The prices are not better than best but it others. Definitely not worth the poor service levels and disregard for my time. Never again pc Richards. *** update: John the store manager called me because he heard I was not happy. Told me he would like the delivery people to communicate if there are going to be late. Not sure what he hoped to accomplish with that call because clearly that would be a fair expectation to communicate changes to a customer. Not impressed. Robert V, who was our salesman, was extremely knowledgeable about all of the washing machines in the srore. We were really impressed with this seeing we looked at another store beforehand. I've come out with DVD players for dirt cheap, iPod docks for amazing deals, and mini refrigerators for amazingly low prices. P.C. Richard & Son has a wide selection of items to choose from whether its ACs or TVs. Problem is, everything is always "on sale." Sales sound nice, but it is deceiving when trying to decipher between which products are a good deal and those that are garbage that need to be moved through, what many will fondly call, fire sales. See, I really don't mind paying a little more for a quality product, but in this place it gets tough with all the shiny sales signs screaming in your face. We have had luck there thus far overall. The sales staff can be quite smothering at times though. They are the typical "furniture salesperson" type...sorry for the stereotype. I prefer my space when I am trying to determine what I want to invest my hard earned money in, so when we tell them we are all set for now, they do tend to respect your space after the second confirmation that you "are just browsing." Don't you worry though, good thing is when you actually need them, there will be several nearby to assist you. Upon checkout, they try to up sell you, like every salesperson does so no fault to them. You need new wires right...how about our warranty plan...and oh boy...that surge protector is really important. All legitimate in their own way, except their surge protectors will run you close to $50 when you can you buy one at the local Target or other like stores for around $20. Nothing hugely unusual about the store, they appear to keep it clean. Everyone is very friendly, and they even bring your goods out to your car after the transaction is complete. I never know if they expect a tip for that though?! I struggle in general with stores where employees are paid through commissions as it tends to create a certain type of environment - like a kettle of vultures waiting for the cars to clear so they can get at their road kill. In the last year we have purchased over $10,000 in new appliances from PC Richard. Our salesman Bobby asked us what we were looking for and gave his suggestions and helped give us the kitchen we have dreamed of. Our $3,500 Samsung Fridge has had issues since we got it and PC Richards was always there for us and went above and beyond quite a few times. After the third time we had issues we called Samsung about the issue, they sent out their own repair person who actually made things worse. We called Samsung again and they offered to replace the fridge for us, we were happy until a week later when Samsung called again and said they declined to replace the fridge. We were MAD. Went into PC Richard and told them what happened and they asked why we didn't go in earlier to get them involved. They worked their magic and the next day Samsung approved our replacement. Again they went out of their way to make us happy. Thank you Bobby, Rich and Tom for always taking care of us and making sure we are happy. When we purchased everything we got a great deal, but now with all the support and help they have given us we feel we got an even better deal!
