To be honest I forgot when I had such a disastrous food. I haven't been in PF Chang for years (last time was probably 10 years ago). Now I know why! The famous chicken lettuce wraps - still can't comprehend how bad should be the cook to "kill" the dish. It was fried to "perfection" to be confused with nuts. The prawns were so greasy that I sent it back. The Mongolian beef that in almost every Chinese restaurant uses filet mignon was substituted with flank steak that was not a good quality. And again, it was basking in grease. The quality of the products that went into making dishes was so far below acceptable restaurant quality that I question if this chain is going to be around in the near future. Second time visiting the Rockaway Mall location. Food was great on our last visit and even better today. Decided to eat at the bar instead of a table this time. Maybe it's not as romantic but we're closer to the booze this way. Our waitress/barmaid Lizzie was fantastic. Friendly and courteous, she took our drink orders and had them made in no time. She had a few customers at the bar area and was flying solo, but didn't skip a beat. I ordered a Bluemoon and my wife had the Asian Pear Martini. For our meals the Fire-Braised Short Ribs and a Miso Glazed Salmon. The short ribs were so tender it was like biting into butter. I had a taste of my wife's Salmon dish and it was delicious. Lizzie offered to ask the kitchen how they cooked the short ribs to get them so tender but I didn't want to trouble her since she was busy at the bar. That means we'll be making another visit. I am from downtown New York and I've eaten in the best places, and this place is as good. The ones that I went to before. This is my first time add I truly love the brussels sprouts and the sesame chicken, though I thought they could have cut down a little on the sweet syrup, but I still liked it and especially the fried rice. The young boy behind the bar was a gentleman who didn't stop working, and just took a few seconds to talk about the game with me. He knew football, and our conversation was pleasant. This place isn't a "WOW." It's okay if you want a fancy night out for the ambiance. Food: They have various options, from sushi, dim sum, salmon, steak, and noodle dishes. My sister and I got the wonton bowl soup, Peking duck spring roll, pork fried dumplings, chicken pad Thai, and chicken lo mein. The wonton bowl soup contains six wontons. If you want to share it with someone, it can be done but not with six people unless you just each want one dumpling. It contains some chicken breast pieces that managed to stay moist and shrimp. The soup itself is like salt water. There wasn't a lot of flavor to the broth, and the wontons were okay. There were mushrooms, chestnuts, and spinach in the broth. I would have liked to have more chicken flavoring in the broth. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't anything special. The dim sum category, which should be called potstickers and spring rolls, is also okay. The dressing, which makes the potsticker flavor, had a nice vinegar and soy sauce flavor. The dumpling was filled with pork, but there wasn't anything special that would make me impress. The Peking duck spring rolls were not worth the price. It was mostly dough with a sprinkle of minced meat. You couldn't tell the flavors of the duck. There isn't any duck skin or large pieces of meat. The spring roll on its own is mainly dough with barely any flavor. With the sauce that was similar to a duck sauce flavor, it was barely anything to praise about. Then we had our chicken pad Thai and chicken lo mein. The Chicken Pad Thai was mainly a tamarind flavor. The dish had large and plentiful pieces of scallion that were not cooked. In Asian cuisines, the large pieces of scallions are usually cooked, while the thinly sliced ones are for garnishes. The lo mein was mainly soy sauce base, hence the labeled sauce. It could use oyster sauce and other flavorings. It was lo mein but not the kind you would get at a traditional Chinese takeout. There was a flavor that was still missing from it. Service: It was "okay" to slightly poor. Our server came every so often, but our drinks were empty when she came back to the table, and it was hard to flag her down when we needed something. At the beginning of our service, I would completely understand since they did have a wait. However, most tables were empty or on dessert after our appetizer came out. It wasn't terrible service, but it wasn't amazing for the price of the food. Overall it was "okay." I think you are better off going to Master Wok and going outside on the sofas of PF Chang if you want to save money. For all that food, it came out to roughly $80. I could have gotten all the food for much less at the food court. I don't think it is worth it because the food isn't the traditional authentic Asian cuisine. I wouldn't even call it the takeout version of Asian food. However, it could be worth it if you are trying to have an upscale dining ambiance. This place allows you to have alcohol since there is a full bar as you eat your food. I can see this place being a date night, but the price of everything can add up very quickly. Also, the pot sticker was better at Cheesecake Factory, and so was the service. The service is okay. I did see many tables looking for their service when the bill came. The bill has an option for you to pay over the phone. I guess that is what the servers prefer overpaying by card in person or cash, but the server should swing by the table to check on it every so often. Food is alright...seems like there's a bit of an organization issue throughout the place. Lots of stuff not where it needed to be etc. Could have led to a rough night, however it was saved by the young lady at the bar - I believe her name was Liz. Liz was absolutely charming. She made drinks by the book, they were consistent and tasty. Fabulous bartender who makes every customer feel like they're the most important customer in the world. Bartending like this is a lost art - usually bartenders just kinda fling a drink at you and move on, but Liz spent time chatting with us (we got to show her pictures of our dog, which we love doing because we are pet people). Mothers Day Disaster ! Pathetic Management right from start. Wake up People and improvise! Respect for reservations - No Food quality of entree - Poor Waiting time for food - Endless Main Course - incomplete dishes served Anything else that go wrong - Probably No Anything that could have avoided for such a rating - Yes, many but no one in the restaurant thought of as how to handle situation, from going bad to worse. My son had done a reservation in the morning for 6.15pm; confirmed via text at 5 and we were there at 5.45. The receptionist mentioned we should be in by 6.20. Finally, we were seated by 6.40. My son super excited now, atleast we got in but little we had a clue that we are about to enter a phase where wait is endless. FIRST MISTAKE (blunder) that could have been corrected by restaurant - INFORM THE CUSTOMER, right at reception that it would take more than an hour or more to get the food . This helps customer to take a seat versus going off. We ordered Appetizers and main course together within 2 mins of seating. Appetizer- Dimsums and lettuce wraps. Food came after 25 mins; dimsums were fine but lettuce was, as if it was the last of the lot (small sized - not so fresh). Immediately told our server, something is not right about it, and requested to quickly bring the main course. Waited for an hour, still no sign....server brought in soup, as he could see that patience is about to end coz we were starving badly. And then again back to endless wait. To kill some time, requested for some drinks. Asked to see the manager, (after waiting for more than a hour); btw, he had a nice sense of humor (somehow when you are hungry, humor helps but not to big extent). Requested him to attend the people who dine-in ON PRIORITY as compared to take way, as we could see loads and loads of takeaway boxes being prepared. Anyways, Manager mentioned that it would take another 10-15 mins. SECOND MISTAKE - Dine-In to be given highest priority as people are coming in for an experience. And on days of load, one has the capability to turn off traffic for take-away or guide that online traffic on the duration of delay (simple use of IT) instead of first in first out policy. Finally the main course came after 1.5+ hours. And it came without white rice...Like what???? Called the Server to inform him about missing rice. He came back after checking and told that they are out of white rice, so had to request him to bring brown rice (if that's available) THIRD MISTAKE - If you run out of something, INFORM CUSTOMER beforehand (Proactive) and offer alternatives instead of customer asking about missing pieces and you come up with options (Reactive). Finally after 2+ hours, we were able to wrap up dinner. Requested for check and guess what - everything was charged i.e. from rotten lettuce to missing items of main course. Had to remind the server about the issues to which he went back and took out only the cost of appetizers. FOURTH MISTAKE - Be aware of the items that were not good quality aka had complaints or had missing pieces AND deduct proactively and appropriately versus customer reminding them to you. OTHER ISSUES - The table had soap or cleaning soap-water residue below the plates. And during main course when we requested for additional plates - they were handed over wet. One can and should atleast wipe out the soap from the table and provide dry plates. I was nervous after reading the wildly mixed reviews here, but am happy to report that we had an excellent meal experience at the PF Changs at Rockaway Townsquare Mall. We arrived early for our 6:45 reservation and they were able to seat us right away. Our server Shelby was friendly and efficient and even brought over a delicious, complimentary Old Fashioned that another customer no longer wanted. We don't get out much, so we wanted to try a few appetizers. The featured lettuce wraps are popular for a reason. Ya, the lettuce leaves could be easier to work with but they were serviceable and a good vehicle for the delicious filling. The calamari is the best my husband has ever had, says he. I also thought it was very good: not chewy or overly breaded. The crunchy tempura green beans were tasty, crunchy and came with a spicy and Flavorful dipping sauce. We all loved our entrees (Kung Pao Chicken, Sesame Chicken and for my GF daughter, Street Noodles) and will all be enjoying leftovers for lunch today. We will definitely return! read more

We've ordered a handful of times since they opened, always as take out/pick up. The first 1-2 times we had no issues other than the staff not seeming very inviting or helpful at pickup. The food was good though. The last time I ordered (sesame chicken) the whole dish tasted burned like the cook forgot about it or something and was not good so we haven't ordered in a little while. Today my husband suggested we grab lunch from here and brought it home. I ordered the same thing I always get and someone decided to cram everything (rice, vegetables and chicken) into a container sized for a side item (see photos). This is not how it's usually packed and felt like someone just didn't care today. So, my entire lunch was covered in sauce - there wasn't an inch of rice that wasn't doused in the sauce from the chicken they crammed on top and overfilled the container. My husbands order was in the proper size container so I doubt they "just ran out" and even if they had - his was just fried rice with chicken and would have been better as the entree to be crammed all into a small container than mine which had multiple sides. I had to remove half the meal and put it in a separate dish it was so packed and messy. Wouldn't give this place my business for awhile, if at all again simply for the experience and frustration from todays order - I paid for an expensive meal just to deal with the mess they sent my husband home with and did not arrive as advertised. We all agree but none of the entrees are big enough for 7, (how did they expect to feed 8?). At one point they brought out an entree with 6 Rangoons - for a party of 7. (This was an awkward "choose who to eliminate" situation) They never changed our plates, we ate chocolate cake off our appetizer plates (kung Pao chocolate cake was an interesting flavor) nor did they refill or take remaining drink orders. After 10 minutes the waiter returned with a menu so I could order a different item. I ordered the dynamite shrimp which has 90% of the ingredients of the Dynamite Roll save rice and seaweed wrap. After another 15 minutes, a few of the appetizers came out. My appetizer was lukewarm. After almost an hour, my wife finally got her main course meal. I always saw this establishment when going to the Apple Store, right across the hall, and took pictures of the huge, golden horse outside of it. Two weeks ago, on a Wednesday, my dad and I went in for lunch. We were a little outside of the normal lunch hours, but there were a few others inside. Admittedly, I needed my glasses, but it was harder to read the menu as a result. The food! That is really the point. I ordered the salmon--I do love salmon, which came with mushrooms and cooked spinach, a miso sauce, garlic-ginger aromatics; it was incredible! It was not crazy expensive and better even than Ruth's Chris' Steakhouse salmon! That must sound like a tall tale, but from my fussy tastebuds, it was arguably the best salmon I have had! Everyone was sweet, talkative but not too much, the restaurant was clean, even immaculate. But we had excellent timing, too. However, I'm sure it usually is. The absolute worse dining experience I have had in my 50+ years. Made reservations for 7 people on a Friday night through Opentable. The restaurant says they are not getting the feed from OT so don't have our reservation. Nonetheless the restaurant is EMPTY upon our arrival. So we order drinks first, then appetizers. The food comes out cold and some of the apps didn't come out at all! The kicker is the bar NEVER bought our drinks. An hour and ten minutes after complaining a few times and still no drinks. Update 2 - went to visit the second time. 1 hour 45 minutes for Thursday night dinner. 30 minutes wait for the appetizers. Appetizers were good I must say. Garlic beans and chicken wraps. Number of wraps seemed half what we were used to though. Main entree had three dishes. Kung pao shrimp, Mongolian beef and lo mein shrimps. Lo mein and Kung Pao was way over salted. We wondered what it does to your blood pressure. Beef was ok. So overall we will not be returning and we are 20 year PF customers. It is disheartening. And for service, we had to even ask for water and wait for it for 10 minutes. My rule is if you had to ask for water, you are not being waited on and really shouldn't be tipped.
