Some of the best filet mignon I've had in a minute I recommend this restaurant to anyone on vacation looking for a relaxing dinner with maybe some wine tasting I do recommend making reservations and the outside patio gives a great view of the Washington monument the wait staff are very nice and engaging, will be come again!!!

*I came here for a private event, so take this with a grain of salt* I am usually wary of places located near the White House due to a baseline understanding that the quality of food/drinks/service won't be high. And unfortunately, my thought was proven to be correct. I will say that the people working at PJ Clarke's was the redeeming quality that I liked. They're all friendly. Otherwise, the food and drinks were all misses for me.

I'm sad to see that P.J. Clarke's has fallen off from where it was the last time I visited. It started off well with a friendly greeting upon arrival and then went downhill from there. Our server was somewhat attentive, but not very friendly. I had an order of the chicken wings and they were overcooked, extremely dry, and only 6 in the order for $17. But the biggest problem by far is what specifically ordered what we thought were oysters for $26. However, it turned out that what we requested was clams rather than oysters. So instead of coming back to the table and explaining that what we had asked for was actually clams, they just replaced the order with a brand of oysters that were $50/dozen. Never in my life have I had an experience like that. When we questioned why she didn't come back to the table and explain this to us, she stated that the chef told her that people make this mistake all the time and order the clams thinking it's oysters. How does that explain anything. We watched her discuss the situation with the manager and he made no attempt to apologize or correct the situation. Sadly, this is the last time I will visit P.J.'s. The interior is drabby and we had to change tables because of a wobbly table.

I'm from NY so I have nostalgia for this NY classic. It is a fun NY old school vibe and we enjoyed the food and the service - especially the truffle Parmesan fries. We also enjoyed the salad and burgers. The service was attentive too. A fun night out!

I got the steak with string beans. The string beans had a nice shallot pairing on top. I was very pleased with the string beans but the steak needed some seasoning. Not too much on my steak -- I asked for medium well and that is exactly what I received. I also got a nice sorbet which was divine. The wait staff -- gems. Love them down.

We had a great dinner at P.J. Clarkes after unfortunately needing to leave another restaurant after not being waited on for 45 minutes. The Waiter at P.J's was great, informative, and efficient. Both my boyfriend and I had the connecticut lobster roll which was great. We also started the meal with their calamari but didn't get a photo. Overall great experience.

Wow the food is bad especially the seafood. I don't understand how someone can mess up lobster roll and fish & chips but obviously you can. I think the biggest problem is that neither the fish used in fish and chips and the lobster in lobster roll are fresh. Also there is definitely a problem with selection of ingredients. In the whole lobster roll I didn't get any of the body of the lobster just the claws. Because the lobster claws were not fresh it tastes rubbery which is not something you should feel in a fresh lobster. The fish in the fish and chips is also too flaky to be fresh. I really don't know how long they keep the fish and the lobster. The shrimp gumbo has literally one shrimp (I counted). The place is like a sports bar so can be loud but it's not bad decoration. Feels almost like a pizza joint that doesn't serve pizza. There is an outdoor area too. Service is typical of restaurants in this price range and honest the place is too expensive for the quality of food. Almost feels like a tourist trap. I came here after 5 hours of flight so I'm super hungry and even in the state I could barely finish the food so I DO NOT recommend this place at all.

Found this place while I was lost looking for another place. Liked it so much that I came back again. Nice ambience. Lunch time at the bar. I highly recommend you try the Maine oysters. Briney and cold. They get fresh oysters from various areas and shuck them right at the bar. Cocktails are delicious, but the love to do craft cocktails too. I settled for a dry martini was my choice. Barkeeps are attentive and don't mind a convo.

Came for happy hour, left happy. The plus here is we walked in on a weekday in DC and didn't have to fight for a seat! Service was also quick and polite. Oysters were great and maybe they could do with a little revamp, the ambiance is a little dated but it adds character.

I thought this looked like a super cute southern comfort food place, with a nice extensive menu, old portraits and memorabilia on the walls, red checkered tablecloths and lots of charm so I really really really wanted to like it.... Service was super fast. We ordered quickly and got served our food quickly, but without the sweetness and charm that I was hoping for. I felt like our waiter just didn't like us. The person who delivered our food had extra charm, so at least he was great. The food was just ok. My chicken was dry so I had to dip it into the green chili (Peruvian style) sauce that came with it. Brussels spouts were not roasted long enough so considerably under done. Fried calamari was very chewy and spicy,

Tough, dry bread. Thick meat in the middle only. Absolutely awful horseradish sauce that tasted only of vinegar. $40!!

Honestly we were so pleasantly surprised by how good the burgers are! I had the Capital Burger which had such incredible flavor and the burger itself is thick and juicy. Despite having just had a big dinner somewhere else, as I write this, my mouth is watering. My daughter had the wild mushrooms burger and she loved it -- the aioli had the perfect tang to go with the mushroom and Swiss, both burgers were cooked perfectly medium as requested. The old fashioned was just your typical old fashioned with a slice of candied bacon attached to the outside of the glass. We were hoping for something smokier and a little different but it was still a very good Old Fashioned. We shared the chocolate mousse and it was perfection. Yum! If I lived here this would be my new regular spot.

There Are Hotels. And Then There Is The Jefferson…read more Some places hold history the way marble holds cold, the way a well-appointed room holds silence after a long day of noise. Washington, D.C. is full of those places. Monuments. Halls of power. Streets that hum with the weight of decisions that shaped the world. But The Jefferson sits in a different category entirely. It does not shout its significance. It assumes it. Quietly. Perfectly. The way only a truly great institution can. For a millennial woman who grew up watching The West Wing and Scandal; who came of age believing that proximity to power was a personality trait, walking into The Jefferson feels like arriving somewhere you already knew existed but had not yet been permitted to enter. The lobby does not try to impress you. It simply receives you. Dark wood, dramatic marble,, soft light, the kind of quiet that costs something. I came for an afternoon. I left with a story. It started with a glass of wine and a question. The wine was easy. The question was better. I turned to Mike, the bartender, the kind of professional who carries himself with the quiet competence of someone who has never once doubted a pour, and I asked him directly: how confident are you in making the perfect martini? Sky high, he said. He was not wrong. Gin. A wash of vermouth. Nothing more. Stirred, because some things are not up for negotiation, and James Bond has a lot to answer for. The glass arrived impossibly cold, impossibly clear, with a lemon twist curled inside like a small, elegant secret. The first sip was the kind that makes you set the glass down slowly, look at nothing in particular, and simply exhale. That was the drink. That was the moment. That was The Jefferson saying: you are exactly where you should be. What followed was a burger. But calling it a burger is like calling the Library of Congress a place with books. They heard me. Gluten free toast in place of a bun, no hesitation, no substitution tax levied in the form of a lesser experience. The patty was serious. The cheese was melted with intention. And then, the Dijon. Two small jars of Clovis, the kind of condiment that makes you wonder why you ever settled for anything else. Thick. Complex. The culinary equivalent of a strong opinion delivered with grace. This is what D.C. does to you when you let it. When you stop moving long enough to sit at a bar that has probably hosted quiet conversations that changed things, and you order something beautiful, and you let the afternoon arrive. This city is not just for politicians and lobbyists and people with lanyards. It belongs, equally, to the ones who show up knowing what they want and how to ask for it. Stirred. Not shaken. Mike understood that before I finished the sentence. And The Jefferson understood it long before I walked through the door.

The music was great, playing plenty of hits from the 2010s, and the service was fantastic! Everyone was friendly and accommodating, an easy 5/5 for service. The bathrooms were not the cleanest, but the restaurant itself was well maintained. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. I ordered the American burger, and the beef tasted a bit off. The patty was not fully smashed and tasted overcooked. It was also dry, I had to dip every bite in ketchup. The sauce inside was bland, and overall, the burger lacked flavor and texture. The side salad, however, was fantastic! The arugula was fresh and generously portioned, and the dressing was delicious. But I didn't order a burger just to enjoy the side salad more than the main dish. With such a small menu and burgers making up a significant portion of it, this was a bit disappointing. The service and atmosphere were great, but the burger itself really missed the mark for me.

Before heading to the airport for our flight, we had a few hours to spare and decided to grab some…read morelunch. My husband did a little research and found this burger spot. From start to finish, I have absolutely no negative feedback at all. 1. The Food Everything we ordered was completely divine! Here's the rundown: -Sandwiches: My husband got a Bogan Bun. My son a Mumbo Bun chicken sandwich and listen, he didn't speak a single word the entire meal because he was enjoying it so much! I ordered the Lucky Bun made with an Impossible patty. It was everything! Best I've had at a restaurant! In fact, my son, who loves beef burgers and claims he doesn't like plant based meat, ended up eating the rest of my burger! He tore that plant based meat DOWN! -Thick cut chips & Queso: The waiter let us know that their portion of fries (chips) could easily feed 3 to 4 people. He was not lying at all. The three of us shared one basket. I don't know if the sandwiches or the fries stole the show. These fries were seasoned to absolute perfection!!! SERIOUSLY! Not the typical sprinkle on top, but seasoned on every single side like someone picked up each fry and hand sprinkled each fry. Think I'm fibbing look at my pic. We ordered a side of queso for dipping and it was so good I wish I had some right now. If you're reading, hear me out Lucky Bun....add tortilla chips and queso to the menu please!!!! I would buy it just to scoop up that delicious cheese. -The Garlic Aioli: why am I highlighting a condiment???? Because!! lol!! It wasn't just standard mayo mixed with garlic powder. You could tell someone actually finely minced fresh garlic and herbs into it. It was so good I couldn't decide whether to dip my fries in the aioli or the queso! So that's why it's in my review! 2. Service The service was exceptional. There was no wait time at all. We walked straight in and were seated immediately. The food came out extremely fast which surprised us since we all ordered completely different proteins. They were speedy but all of our food arrived perfectly warm. The host, a slim gentleman, and our waitress, a lovely young lady rockin locs, were both incredibly kind, attentive, and welcoming. I'm telling you good service makes the food even better! 3. Restaurant Look and Seating The inside of the restaurant is fairly small, but they maximized the space with multiple tables and a full service bar. They also have outdoor dining and a front waiting area with outdoor furniture, which would be perfect for a nice summer day. You don't even have to ask me because you already know the answer. YES!!! The next time I am in DC, I will specifically make time to go there. Even if I'm not staying in the immediate area, I would gladly take an Uber just to eat here again and so will my family! Make sure you get there too!
