I was having such a stressful day until I came into PO Plus. The store environment is so welcoming and fun, I was really put at ease the minute I walked into the store. One of my Airbnb guests forgot one of their personal items and was absolutely hounding me to send it back to them! The guest had absolutely no regard for my time and I was extremely agitated about having to front MY money to send THEIR stuff. Once greeted by the friendly staff all of that agitation just went out the window. Noah helped me find the best option to ship my guest's items back to them rather quickly for a great price! He took such care packaging the items in the box and I have absolutely no doubt they were completely secured. I couldn't help but get distracted by the hilarious greeting cards while I was there!! Emmanuel helped me find some cards for my friend's birthday in two weeks and he couldn't have been friendlier. Overall the staff here is just great and clearly enjoy working together. I would definitely recommend coming here if you need anything shipped or simply just for the cards and candy! I have to give some praise to the owner here for how he dealt with an very irate complaint from me. I Fedexed an overnight letter out of here a few weeks ago, and due to my own lack of understanding of how Fedex works, there were some unusual complications delivering it, and direct calls to Fedex resulted in nothing but frustration and outright misinformation. I called this place to complain that I felt that for $87 to mail a letter, I should have been informed about the possibility that it wouldn't actually arrive at the time I was told it would be there, and might not (in unusual circumstances, ok, but we're talking about nearly $100 to deliver a letter) be delivered next-day at all. I happened to get the owner on the phone, and I have to say, despite my very irate tone, he took the time and effort to listen, discuss it with me, talk about what could be improved, and he volunteered to get on the phone with Fedex and try to straighten it out himself and see if I could get some sort of refund. On some points he did disagree with me on, he expressed it respectfully. Then he called Fedex and called me back that same afternoon to update me. As it happened, the recipient and their local Fedex got it straightened out, so it all ended fine without needing his help. But the point is, the owner of this shop dealt with a complaint constructively, and made an effort to help resolve it. Anybody can screw up or have a misunderstanding, we're all human, but how you handle it is really what makes or breaks customer service. The owner really pretty clearly seemed to want me to feel respected and appreciated as a customer. That's all too uncommon. Too many businesses stop caring as soon as they have your money. I'm totally happy to leave a positive review, and give my future business, to a shop that willingly makes that extra effort at customer service, even after the transaction is over. read more

I rely on P.O. Plus for all sorts of services for my business. They offer all (almost all?) the US Postal services without the long lines and surly, dumb service of the post office. They're also my got-to for notary services (for which their price is very reasonable). Since they're right near my bank (and plenty of the other banks as well) it's an easy stop for me almost any day. The added plus is that the staff are super nice and friendly. read more

Patient, thorough, knowledgeable and always kind. In COVID the protocols and extra people to direct traffic and help get people in and out efficiently has been phenomenal. Clerk acted like he was doing ME a big favor to take my mail box rent and hand me my package. First time I shipped with DHL and choose P.O. Plus to help me with that. Long story short DHL failed in their express service on multiple occasions which resulted in my package being returned! Since I used P.O. Plus as a third party to set up the shipment I myself couldn't request DHL directly for a refund. Now even that DHL seems to be playing hardball with the refund, P.O. Plus just decided to take the hit and refunded me all my money! I'm very impressed and can only say that the commitment to their customers is truly exemplary! read more

Super fantastic service here. I went here once recently just to find a box that would fit an item I sold on eBay. Of course, the actual Post Office priority boxes were stragetically just too big or small. When I went inside, I was immediately engaged by the employees in a welcoming, non-aggressive manner. Since they were so nice, I decided to come back with the item and have them ship it. They measured, packed, and gave me several different options for shipping. I settled on Priority Mail with delivery and was surprised how cheap it was. Considering how little work I had to put into the whole process, I'll definitely go there again when I need to send something out. They made the mailing process soo easy and effortless. read more

I love this place! I've been coming here for about three years as I worked at a salon in the Castro. Everyone here is really nice and I get all my documents notarized by Mark. They are dog friendly and I bring the puppy I babysit here all the time. I like that they remember by PO box and always have my mail ready for me without asking my name. It's the little things that count. I understand that they were going through some transition but the service is still the same. Shelby rocks and so does everyone else there. Gregory always has a fun story to tell me and Calvin( I forgot his name) always greets everyone with a smile. I would call ahead to ask about Notary services thought because they only do them at certain times. They really are a staple of the community. read more

Not a big fan of negative reviews and so I am going to gentle. Went here to buy a box box to mail a gift to a friend. the staff is very nice and helpful- I just wanted to buy the box I handed the staff member the items he measured and got the exact box I needed. Small note I asked how much it would be to mail shortest time & I was told $34.00 from. SF to Ohio- went to the post office and asked the same thing and they said $16.00. Back to the box - it was given to me with the items wrapped in tissue and sealed in tape - closed. I paid like 9.75$ and walked out and went about two blocks before I was like why was that so expensive ?? Well there was a $.050 tissue fee and to tape the box was an additional $3.00. If needed I will go here again but I will not be dumped into these add on prices . Yes I know they are small amounts - its the principal of the issue. read more

These people are simply the best! Always helpful, courteous, shipping things for this long-term customer, both large and small, overnight and longer term more economically. It would be ideal if all businesses were run like this. Oh, and it might be better for them if customers, (and I have witnessed first-hand spoiled brat, imperious, condescending and douchebagian behavior ) had better manners and civility. I went in earlier today to get some boxes for an unexpected move. Times are stressful as is, but on top of that I had my dog with me because I wasn't able to keep him home at the time. I came in the store and was instantly greeted by Shawn who was so welcoming. He went above and beyond to help me find exactly what I needed for my move. I ended up spending a bit more time than expected and had some other dogs come in the store that amped up my dogs anxiety. Shawn brought my dog to a secured space, calmed him down, and provided some of the best customer service I've ever had. He even walked us outside. I am so thankful to have a place like this in the community and very grateful for such a positive interaction during these crazy times. I will be supporting this business from here on out. I hate doing this but a business I love and have been going to for years is not looking as good as it used to. I miss the friendly efficient team that used to keep this place jamming. In particular I am not ok with the speed and attitude of the heavy set short haired woman that works there now. Not only is she sooooo SLOW but she's rude & not funny. I dread when I walk in the door & she is there. I actually try to avoid her line because I know she is going to cost me at LEAST an 5-10 minutes of time. (and that's being generous- it's BAD sometimes) Today when she saw that I was using a Neiman Marcus box she scoffed & said "Needless Markup- pffffff" (big eye roll ensues) I mean grow up. Are you really that judgmental over where people shop?? Do I need your opinion? You don't belong in this business. Sadly I won't be returning to PO Plus until this person has been removed from the equation. It's just not a pleasant experience like it used to be. I saw the two staff on duty were helping a customer at the PO Box desk so I went and stood by the desk that said Shipping and waited to be served. Nothing happened so I checked my email, messages etc. on my phone. Then noticed the customer being served was gone, I was still had not been served or even acknowledged. Then a female worker asked me to move out of her way, the only person there who spoke to me. Stunned at lack of service here I remembered I'd experienced this here before, more interested in chit chat amongst themselves. Yes, I had to ask, "Who do I have to F___ here to get served?" Yes I used the "F" word, but it got their attention finally. Seem the owner can dish out rude behavior plenty but can't take it. read more

Know what I hate? Those stupid UPS/FedEx "sorry we missed you" sticky notes tacked to your door when you arrive home from work. Sweet, now I have to wait at least another day for my package or arrange a pickup elsewhere. If you're an avid user of Amazon Prime like me, living in SF can be a pain because FedEx et al. can't just leave packages on your doorstep. A great way to fix this is setting up a PO Box and have P.O. Plus accept your packages on your behalf. They are great for several reasons: 1) Friendly, efficient staff 2) Safe, secure drop offs for your packages 3) They will either text you or send you an e-mail when your packages are ready for pick-up. They have a million other services that I haven't used yet, but will probably inquire within when the holidays arrive and have to send packages around the country. read more

Oh dear gawd...I love this place!! I had a BIG box to ship, containing an expensive item I just sold on eBay. (My eBay addiction is a whole other story, folks. Can't go into details here, but...yeah. eBay is dreamy) I needed 1) packaging, 2) fast shipping, 3) affordable, 4) tracking and insurance on the package. Now, I usually patronize the Post Office on 18th, but when I went in and asked for their advice, they steered me here. Uh, if your *competitor* will recommend your service, you gotta be doin' somethin' right. I walked a couple blocks here with my big-ass box and was immediately pleased. Nothing makes me feel at ease like a STORE FULL OF BEARS. The gay kind, that is. MY PEOPLE. I am totally a bear in a chick's body. Inside, I weigh 300 pounds and am furry and wear chaps all the time and spend my nights enjoying beer in my well-decorated home. Because I am a secret bear. This store is staffed ENTIRELY by bears and they are SO SWEET. Big friendly bear welcomes me (!!!) and I ask him for his assistance with my big-ass box. He measures it and selects the appropriately-sized outer box. Stuffs it with packing peanuts. Delicately places my package inside. Selects the perfectly-sized chunk of packing tape and seals it up. Takes my recipient's ZIP code and counsels me on the best service to ship - he saved me over $40 on shipping over USPS, including the cost of shipping supplies. For real. The entire time he is jolly and sweet and chats me up, because he recognizes that I am a BEAR like he. This place effing rocks. I'll be coming back here for future shipping/copying needs as well as hanging with this branch of my people. read more

This review is so long overdue, I feel a little ratty that I took so long to write it. Ladies and gentlemen, you are to be treated as the kings and queens of your realm that you are here. They are true professionals, efficient, clean, bright, fun, creative (did I just say that about a postal shop employee? Yep), worldly (yeah, I said it), kind, and funny (I have left with tears in my eyes from laughter). All of this, and...I moved up here from Los Angeles in the darkest period of my life to date. My mom was so ill, she almost died and I needed an address fast to try to find work so I could live closer to her. These guys did everything they could to help with the paperwork getting done asap, were encouraging and compassionate, gave me leads on apartments they knew about, and knew who I was right away when I arrived (you send a photo with the application). I've now sent letters and packages, faxes, and even received faxes flawlessly for the past 6 months (I had this address 2 months before I finally got an apartment and can't imagine going through the process without them). I shipped half of a household to myself here getting started in the city. They walked that half a household to my car over the past few months...even if I was a block away! How these guys were always happy to see me whenever I showed up, I dunno, but they were. I thought I would just have been another box in the wall and struggling to get things from the shop to my car solo like I did the rest of my life before PO Plus. Its kind of like those stories couples tell about how they knew they'd found the one. Suffice to say, I've been impressed by everyone there: Jason, Bruce, Paul, Marcos, everyone...I can't list them all but I wish I could. Who else offers to come from behind the counter and open your postal box so you wont have to dig in your purse when they aren't busy with other customers, asks about your day and details about your life, and is connected with their customers as people? These guys care about doing their work well, they care about you, and my shipments/mail are always safe whether I'm around/not. I have no idea what other mail service centers are like, and frankly, I think I hit the jackpot the first time...so I won't have to find out. Every time I walk away from PO Plus, I think, "I need to write this place a Yelp review". But by the time I reach my condo - one tiny block away - my scattered brain has moved on to how I need to sweep to porch, pick up the dog-doo, or some other mundane task. But not today. Here it is... I've seen PO Plus in the Castro for as long as I've lived in SF but for whatever reason I had never opted to use their services. Well I needed a notary and it came up on Yelp -- with great reviews, too. I was also very annoyed by the lack of customer service at the FedEx Office on Market, so perfect opportunity to support a local business -- and now I'm glad I did. I needed to print docs in color and to have them notarized. Paul, who has owned the business since 1994, ended up helping me and spent close to an hour getting all my needs accomplished. Not only did everything end up going smoothly, but he was engaging to chat with while we did the tedious work of notarizing a lot of documents. To boot, the rest of the staff seemed engaging and helpful as well. What a pleasant change from my usual experience going to FedEx. I'm a convert now, thanks to what Paul has built. I always knew I'd get around to creating a yelp account eventually. Didn't realise it would be to sing the praises of a notary public and shipping store. Had a pile of frustrating paperwork that needed notarizing, faxing and mailing - was dreading it, having been mired in an officious loop of crappery trying to get it all in order. The notary on duty (Jason) was polite, precise, patient and hilarious - even when the receiver of the fax called me to tell me I'd done something wrong and we had to go through the whole process again when I returned, shame-faced, 15 minutes later. Honestly, this morning could have been horrible, and it wasn't, due to the impeccable service and courtesy of P.O Plus. I may take up getting things notarized on a regular basis just to go back and get cheered up. read more

This package store in the Castro that looks like it's entirely staffed by Bears (as is tradition) is a small, but efficiently-run operation. They do everything from UPS to fedex to USPS, and they do it well. I came in a week ago trying to mail about 250 letters. Everyone stopped to help me double count and make sure I had the appropriate amount of postage going on the mail. It's rare that you get customer service like that, and if I end up in the Castro for business again, I'll be sure to check them out. read more

After going to many UPS, FedEx and other shipping companies and being quoted outrageous prices and treated pretty badly, my husband and I stopped by this place just to see what they could do. Paul was so helpful, and extremely nice and handled our requests with respect and helped us figure out our best options for internationally shipping a painting. I've had to use them for notarizing and shipping and they have been great with both! Just decided to get a PO Box there after closing my one at the USPS location on 18th for the following reasons: 1. They accept deliveries from all services (UPS, Fed-Ex, etc.) the USPS does not. 2. They provide you with a way to access your PO Box at anytime of the day or night, the USPS does not. 3. They allow you to have a normal looking street address (rather than a PO Box #), the USPS does not. 4. They have a ridiculously adorable dog that will come over and say hi, the USPS does not. Considering the mess I've had dealing with the USPS, I'm looking forward to the coming year with my P.O. Plus box! read more
