The way I always describe P Terry's is "it's like In N Out except it tastes good." This is the most accurate description possible. The style is similar - basic menu, yummy sauce, but the taste is so much better. The parties are perfect, the fries, while skinny, are always cooked so good, and the portion is generous (not that this stops me from getting two on occasion). I love that you can order a lettuce wrap here and no one looks at you funny or argues that you can't have the other things you ordered. I can get a double lettuce wrap burger and fries that actually fills me up for $6.06. Especially in Austin, that is a steal. This location is very convenient and the employees are so friendly. There was a short spell where they were getting my order wrong but their current staff is spot on. They go out of their way to be awesome. read more

My first visit.. pretty impressive. Strictly a drive through, and we passed the entrance before we knew it because it wasn't marked really well, but it wasn't a big deal to just go around the block. Ordered 2 burgers, no bun and a fry to share. Service was pretty fast. Burgers were very tasty for sure and they got it right. Most places seem to go blank when you ask for 'no bun'. These burgers were wrapped nicely in huge lettuce leaves. Perfect! Be sure to ask specifically if you want onions or pickles, because saying "everything on it" isn't enough. They will not give you onions/pickles unless you specify. Boo. Fries were like other reviewers said.. great flavor, but seemed a little limp/greasy. They were wrapped in paper.. so as soon as you untwist the top, be ready! They gave you a lot of fries for one order, and it was more than enough for my husband and I to share. Decent prices: A double cheeseburger for $3.45 and that huge fry for $1.55. Combos around $5-$6. Not bad! I'll definitely return there for a quick snack on my way into Austin. I recently ordered a P Terry double cheeseburger and when I got home discovered it was not a double cheeseburger burger but instead a regular cheeseburger. I took a picture of it along w dated receipt to show the manager on my next trip. Mind you people go to fast food because they are short on time and want a quick grab n go. I returned 7 days later as I was traveling for 3 of those days. I shared the story w the P Terry Manager today. She said I can't help you, you should have come back in when you discovered the mistake. Hmm. That's when I was encouraged to share that it was P Terry's mistake in the first place that burdened me with this silly exercise. I'm coming to purchase food at a fast food drive in to save time. It's about convenience. Now their inadvertent mistake becomes my problem. Funny thing is now it's not about the double cheeseburger I never received. It's about the principle. Not many places in Austin have a homemade veggie burger. These guys do. And it's good. In fact it's a little better than good. Not a gourmet burger but for a drive through burger joint it's all right. 5 stars alright. I eat the #5 combo all the time. Veggie burger, fries, and a lemonade. Been to all the locations and it's always the same. Fast, got, and filling. A bit if history about the recipe for the veggie burger. Supposedly it was created by Austin chef Andrew Brooks (Spirited Food co.). It's got mushrooms black beans, oats, and a bunch of other good stuff. Fresh. I ordered the double burger and fries with a lemonade. This is a drive thru only spot that serves great Angus burgers and fresh potato cut fries. A normal double burger comes with cheese, lettuce and tomato with their own special sauce. Burgers are made fresh buns are fresh...a great healthy burger! This location has always been good to us. Way more often than not, the food is hot, the order is right, and the service is friendly. I like the chicken sandwich, easy on the dressing and minus half the bun. (I remove the bun myself.) My husband enjoys a cheeseburger or a double cheeseburger and we usually split an order of fries. The patties are on the thin side but I don't believe egregiously so and I still find everything to be really good. Remember to ask for pickles and onions if you want that on your sandwich - it is not standard here. The huge oatmeal chocolate chip cookies are really tasty but we only share one once in a while as a treat. Something I really enjoy about P Terry's is that they post their nutritional info online! As someone who tracks calories, this is enormously helpful and much appreciated. We definitely will be back to this location. read more

Ohhhh, for the love of P TERRY'S! For a fast food burger joint, they throw down with some of the best. Excellent value ($2.35 for a burger, $2.60 for a cheeseburger). Bonus points for offering breakfast. They serve organic Ruta Maya coffee, organic orange juice that is fresh squeezed daily, and offer organic eggs. Their beef is 100% all natural black Angus beef. They're quick and convenient. Get in my belly! Oatmeal chocolate chip cookies are yummy. One area of opportunity is the French fries. Not quite my speed. They taste like Lay's Potato Chips but in French fry form, if that even makes since. Don't stop yourself from ordering them because of me, because they could totally be your jam. I love P. Terry's and would normally rate them as a 5, except for the fact that this location is the worst. Drive thru only so no indoor seating, and once you exit the line you are spit out right into the side ramp traffic of 183. Sadly this is the nearest location to my house (and is still half an hour away from it), but when the craving hits you do what you will. My first visit here was only a couple days ago and the guy I gave my order to was very nice. He got everything right and even repeated it back to me which I appreciated. The second guy at the window where you get your food however was a different story. When I pulled up he said, "back for a second time today huh?". I was confused as again, this was my first visit to this location, so I said "nope sorry you are thinking of someone else". He rolled his eyes and laughed saying something back along the lines of "yeah sure". On this order I got 2 cookies along with my meal; one for myself and one to bring home to my husband since he loves them too. After handing me my bag the last thing he said was "enjoy your third cookie of the day". Seriously?! Now let's think about this for a second shall we? I'm no mathematician, but for kicks let's say that I had in fact been there earlier that day. The fictional visit plus my actual visit would then equal more money for the company correct? Okay then. So maybe in the future don't make someone (especially a woman, come on dude!) feel guilty about coming here or accuse them of already doing so that day. So, why one star? because they misplaced the sticker on burgers I ate a burger with beef in it. I am livid. I am a pure vegetarian and a Hindu. Eating beef is strictly against my belief and diet. A shameless 5 stars for my fast food burger bar of choice. They can take most of the credit for getting me through Wednesday's at work which I tolerate driving all the way out to cedar park for exclusively because I know I can self administer a medicinal double cheese burger on the way home. Their organic, free range hormone free philosophy means it's practically healthy in my book. Particular props to Julian who is always a whirlwind of efficiency - even when the line of cars is backed up on to the road. It's not gourmet, but for a fast food fix that's locally owned, animal friendly (as far as meat can be!) and cheap as chips I can't give it less than 5*s. So I won't. read more

Although my favorite fast food burger is still from an In-N-Out, P. Terry's comes in a close second for me. The only real difference being the fries. The P. Terry's Double Cheeseburger is just plain good. Always fresh ingredients and consistent. The fries are sometimes on the overdone side for me, but nonetheless fresh and usually hot. I have experienced some inconsistency with the freshness of the fries at this location. Service is always friendly and quick, getting me through the drive through in no time at all! This is my second time being at a P. Terry's location and it's the second time I've left feeling very meh about the end result. The burger is plain and boring and a bit dry. Call me old fashioned but I want my burgers to be juicy enough to run down my beard every time I bite into it. I'll take a delicious messy burger over a dry burger any day. The fries were in an even worse state. I have to imagine we got the bottom of the barrel fries or something. They were limp and tasteless. [insert inappropriate joke here] Once again I got a dry burger even though it was fresh off the grill. Ketchup was the only saving grace of that burger. I would have choked on my own tongue from how dry the burger would have left my mouth otherwise. Sadly, that's only a mild exaggeration. Their shakes are quite good and I would willingly stop at a P. Terry's to grab a shake, but as far as burgers go...there are literally DOZENS of places better than P. Terry's to get a burger. Still, I give them a 3 because the shake was delicious and the burger wasn't a disaster, it just wasn't delicious. I gave the rest to the dogs when I got home. Drive Thru Only! But as someone who lives by the other drive thru only location at 71 and Congress I will say that this one moves quickly. I pulled in at 12:15 and was still out of there in 10 minutes. Food is exactly what you expect from P. Terry's although it seems like they raised the prices a bit (gotta pay for all these new locations somehow right?) I will say that if they did raise the prices it would be the second time in the last year I have noticed they increased the prices and they need to be wary of pricing themselves out. I absolutely do NOT understand the hype. Tried it once before, was underwhelmed, figured it was just an odd day or something, so my wife and I went to a different location. Yeah, same thing. I got the double cheese, wife got the single. The patties are TINY, the fries were basically unsalted, and the burgers were cold. The single was so thin the lettuce was literally 4 times thicker than the patty. Oh I'm sorry, I ordered a hamburger, you seem to have given me a bun and lettuce sandwich. P. Terry's has a charisma that's hard to resist when the late night munchies come around. The bold colors and signage just draw you into the drive thru line. I was having a hankering for some fast food one evening and decided to try their chicken burger with fries. I was actually pretty impressed with the meat patty. It was moist and I actually liked it with the melty cheese and burger fixins on top. Their fries are nothing special, however, compared to your other fast food joints. I had higher hopes for their fry quality (fry snob alert, I know). All in all, this place is great for a quick bite and to satisfy those fast food cravings - definitely would choose this place over any other fast food joint! read more

I've been in Austin for about 4 months so I decided today was as good as any for a stop at P Terry's. Ordered a double cheeseburger meal and a chocolate shake. The chocolate shake was lacking. It had a very artificial chocolate taste to it, and I ended up throwing it out. The burger and fries were very good. If you go in expecting a meal like in and out or five guys I think you'll be surprised by the quality. The workers were fast and friendly, and the place looked clean. Having been born and raised in California, nothing will compare to In N Out for me when wanting a fast food burger chain to satisfy a craving. A true Southern California In N Out, that is. However, I wasn't aware P. Terry's had a veggie burger (Something In N Out doesn't have) until last night when my boyfriend and I ate here for the first time. I truly appreciate when a fast food burger chain incorporates a veggie burger on their menu. For P. Terry's, it reminded me a lot of Burger Kings veggie burger unfortunately. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad at all. The veggie patty itself was definitely made different than how Burger King makes (or most likely orders?) theirs. But something about the way it tasted reminded me of Burger Kings. Perhaps the "secret sauce"? Anyway, as for their fries, I was definitely getting an In N Out vibe from that, however they weren't as "thick", definitely sliced thinner. My boyfriend got a double cheese burger and said his was good. He wasn't a huge fan of the fries but ultimately, this would be my go to for a quick bite when I want a veggie burger. As for service, the gentleman who took our order was friendly and got our order right. The woman we interacted with when paying, not so much but who wants to be working on a Sunday night counting change. Let's hope she isn't like that all the time. read more

P Terry's is a great Austin knock off of in n out! I've never have their beef hamburgers or breakfast items but they have great hot and fresh ground chicken burgers and fries! They also have great lemonade and cookies! They are pretty cheap and have great free or close to free add-ons. The only reason for 3 stars is because this location in particular. The parking lot is small and the drive thru staff is a hit or miss. One day I am getting offered everything on the menu as an up sale attempt. On another day, I can barely get my order out without the drive thru attendant saying anything else and rushing me along. This just takes longer to order because we end up talking on top on each other and me, having to repeat it. A piece of advice to management, teach your drive thru attendants to just say okay, and let us finish. Other then that, I love P Terry's! read more

P Terry's is the In-N-Out of Austin. Just ignore the fact that Austin has like 2 actual In-N-Out's for a minute. You can find a P Terry's pretty close no matter where you go, and the food seems to be quite popular with locals. It's also impossible to drive by without noticing the building. However, the food is where the similarities end. The burger is small, and offers nothing spectacular flavor wise to keep you wanting more. The fries were soggy and plain. That soggy part might be because I had to drive back to work to eat (10 mins), but that plainness is still perfectly valid. As far as food goes, this feels like a rebranded McDonalds. Sure, the food is cheap, but I'm neither full nor happy with myself. If this is all you have access to, it's probably not the worst choice you can make, but it's also probably not the best. I wouldn't eat P Terry's again, but writing this review did make me crave a real burger at In-N-Out. Note that this particular location is DRIVE THRU ONLY. read more
