Really excellent banh mi sandwiches. They have the widest selection I've seen anywhere. I tend to always get the standard CC1. It's a really traditional cold cut banh mi, with head cheese and pâté that other shops don't have. I've been with other people who've ordered other sandwiches and all have said it's the best they've had in Austin. The sandwiches are huge. I usually take half home. Prices are reasonable. It's very popular and waits can be long. My only ding is that the seating is not so good - very few tables and a couple of seats at a low coffee table. So good! Was greeted by Demi and she took our order! Soroya & Edvin made my beautiful Bahn Mi Dac Biet with extra pate so good and wrapped it with such care. My friend got the roasted Brussels sprouts and they loved them too. Finally. I found a banh mi sandwich in this town. That reminds me of the ones I ate in San Francisco! Probably because the owner hails from The Bay Area too. Menu is big, lots of options, reasonably priced and the sammies are top notch. My first visit I tried a grilled pork and patè one with extra pickled daikon/carrots and extra cilantro. Great bread too! I'll be back for the pork belly or Char Siu and move on to a sardine or lemongrass tofu. Excited this is 3 minutes from home! This being said onto the food we got for this review... We ordered the pork belly, grilled beef, and the Bánh Mì Nướng Muối Ớt aka Chili Bread. Pork belly was disappointing I think this is where you see comments about lacking enough meat. Taste was also just okay could have used some Maggi seasoning. The grilled beef was delicious and had strong lemongrass flavor. The star of the show was the Bánh Mì Nướng Muối Ớt, it was delicious and not too spicy and I do not know anywhere else in Austin where you can get this which makes this place unique. Also, they charge extra for pate which should be standard in banh mi. This place is good, the people are friendly but don't expect authentic Vietnamese banh mi. I kept seeing Banh Mi Oven on the way to work and vowed to eventually try them. One day I got a $10 off $10 offer on my Cash App card on a restaurant, so I figured I'd give it a try. Loved it! He got fried miso brussels sprouts and a grilled pork banh mi (P1) with pate added. I got a shredded pork banh mi (P4) and vietnamese iced coffee, one of my weaknesses. Vietnamese iced coffee was great, not too sweet, with a robust dark coffee flavor. The shredded "fluffy" pork banh mi was good but had NOTHING on my husband's grilled pork w pate, which was amazing. The flavor of the shredded pork was good too, just much more dry. It would probably make a better option if you're saving for later, but if eating soon after ordering I would add extra mayo or sauce. The brussels were good, too. The pickup experience was so smooth and pleasant! I arrived right on time and was surprised at the cute interior. The food grilled pork (Thit nuong) was good but they were VERY skimpy with the meat throughout (see pic) so it was hard to get the actual flavor. The pork belly and egg tasted like tamago. It was sweet and the egg overpowered the pork belly so I did not enjoy this one. The bacon cheese fries had liquid cheese on them (not queso). The best way to describe it is the cheese in a cauldron at Fuddruckers. The kind of cheese sauce that will never harden and always stay liquidy. Not too much bacon but they were fine. They were fresh. The bread was great so I think I'd try one more time and see if the skimpy meat filling was a fluke or their standard. Visited banh mi oven over the weekend and got the egg and pork bánh mì for $13. Their sandwiches come with pickled carrots and radish, cilantro, jalapeño, and mayo. Ordered online and it was quick and easy to pick up. They have a nice area for dine in as well. They cut the sandwich in half and package it for you. I really enjoy the sandwich. The meat was tender, although could use a bit more char on the meat. Didn't quite taste like they were grilled. Could use a little bit more pickled veggies as well. I also prefer my banh mi bread a little bit more crunchy on the outside. This bread was pretty soft all around. I loved the fluffy egg, it was well cooked. I was stuck at the Kia dealership with an infinite wait time so I looked up lunch nearby. This place was walking distance and for a Viet food fanatic, I couldn't have been happier. All I can say is WOW. I asked Will, for some help on what to get. He advised me on a few items. Said their cold cuts are awesome, the traditional Banh Mi. His favorite is the pork belly, which I'll get next time I come back but I landed on the grilled beef and it blew me away. I am still sitting here and considering going back for seconds. The bread was perfectly toasted and fresh. They know how to ratio their meat to veggies and included some thinly sliced jalapeños for the perfect pop of crunch and heat. The meat is also seasoned in their homemade barbecue sauce. Chefs kiss. I am topping it off with one of the best Viet iced coffees I've ever had. I'm always up for an adventure so when visiting Austin this event popped up in my Insta. I looked into it and saw this small but very interesting restaurant was doing a Labubu drop and you found get your hands on some. Now I wasn't there for the food but let me tell you it smelled so good. Since I was by myself I didn't want to get out of line and risk my spot (#10) and have to be last in line and the line was wrapped around the corner. I will say others that were there with friend and family and were able to get out of line because one person was there to still hold their spot. I mean the sandwiches that were coming out of this small restaurant look so good and smelled yummy. The drinks that I saw was their boba drinks and even though it was freezing that day people still got ices drinks. I will say the owner would check in with us since yeah we were there since like 8am and the event didn't start until 2pm. He would take pictures and videos. He was super cool and very friendly. He also made sure we were safe while we lined up and also advised people of the parking situation. The parking lot is not very big and shares with about 4-5 other shops. Even though I wasn't here for the food I will be back to try it out for myself. As for this little restaurant I will say if you are one the many people that are crazy about Labubus or Sonny Angels mark this spot as a great place to try and get one or two. Had high expectations with the placed being called Banh Mi Oven where the bread would be crispy on the outside and soft inside... the ingredients would be fresh and tasty with a nice kick with the jalapeños. Unfortunately, the young guy taking our order had a difficult time with our orders even though I repeated myself 3x each with the letter and number (B3?!) I spoke clearly and even said Bravo - Number 3 while showing 3 fingers... The older gentlemen in the back shook his head in disappointment as he was just as frustrated. When we got our sandwiches, they were both wrong. Seriously?! Why?! Must be our faults as we later noticed a self-serve kiosk where we could have entered our own order. HIGHLY recommend using the kiosk and avoid the human interaction. IF, I come back again, Kiosk is a must. Probably won't even though I really wanted to love this place. Both were flavorful and the toppings went perfectly. Speaking with Will it was great to hear about his way of developing the food and then he surprised us with a bit of beef pho broth to dip our sandwiches in. I had not done that before and I have to say it was probably one of the most delicious things I have had for lunch in a very long time. The service was quick and friendly. All I can say is AMAZING ! Walked in today for the first time, I right away was greeted by Will who had the most welcoming presence. I definitely hadn't felt that in other places in a very long time. He explained every aspect of their menu to me which was such a relief given that there's so much to choose from. He truly gives the best advice on what certain items will taste like and made the BEST recommendation I've ever received!! Usually when given a recommendation it's not all that but he recommended his favorite which was the Pork Belly. OMG MY TASTE BUDS WERE IN LOVE. An order of the Bánh Mì Sandwich comfortably feeds two people. I was happily filled with just one half. To my surprise the sandwich was wrapped in two separate wraps, which was perfect for me since I got full with one half. I also ordered their Watermelon Tea, Will was so kind to tell me how it will taste and was spot on! I'm not a huge sweet tooth so this bitter tea was absolutely to my liking ! Some of these reviews are very annoying. The bread is fantastic. The meat is fantastic. All the trimmings are fantastic. And all very fresh, like they make it there. And someone thinks $11 for a hearty sandwich is expensive in Austin?! Grilled chicken is honestly one of the most delicious sandwiches I've ever had, and am hooked. I often eat a half and then save half for later. Everyone there is SUPER nice. FYI, the prices showing on Yelp are inflated for delivery fees. We stopped by Banh Mi Oven today after seeing all the great reviews, but unfortunately our experience didn't match the reviews. We ordered three sandwiches, garlic bread, loaded fries, and coffees. The biggest letdown was the food quality. The bread on everything--including the garlic bread--seemed like it had been microwaved. Parts of it were rock hard, and we could hear the microwave going constantly in the kitchen. The fries had good flavor but were undercooked and cold by the time we got them, since they were made way before the sandwiches were ready. The coffees were actually pretty good, and the staff was nice, but that was the highlight of the visit. I really wanted to like this place--especially since it's local--but sadly we won't be back.
