Ordering was quick but the wait time to get our order was ridiculous!! There were only four tables of customers in the store. The wait time kills the store. Great place for families with young kids, or people that need a reminder not to have kids. Excellent advertisement for birth control, really. There's an outdoor play area that attracts them like moths to a flame, but the tiny humans really are everywhere, running, screaming, doing whatever their half-developed brains tell them to. No shade, I respect that and am happy there's a place where they can eat and their parents can grab a beer, but know what you're getting yourself into. For vegans, options are predictably limited but acceptable. Get a veggie burger patty and slap it on a salad. Not every meal has to be a big event. It's perfectly fine. read more

Excellent time visiting this Hat Creek location! Plenty of kid friendly options and a nice play area (slide, outdoor climbing, etc.). The food was speedy, the staff was very friendly, and the menu has a few alcoholic drink options for adults as well. Appreciate that they don't nickel and dime here, and it's solid pricing overall for higher quality than most plain fast food options! When Hat Creek first came onto the Austin scene. I really loved them. They were reasonably priced for a fast food burger and you could tell they took a great deal of pride in their product. These days, at least at this location, the experience is pretty much lacking in atmosphere and food. The cashier had zero personality, mumbled in taking our order and didn't smile or make eye contact. The tastiest thing on the burger was the pickles! It was my first time going to Hat Creek, after reading the reviews I made my way over. We ordered The Big Hat and The Veggie Burger (duh, for me haha). Both burgers were delicious! Now I should note that I took the mustard off of my burger but I would suggest keeping the mustard or trying a different sauce. And speaking of sauce- the hat sauce and the happy sauce are both terrible. Sorry. It's my truth though. Any who, we also ordered a side of french fries and a side of sweet potato fries. It's something about the cut of the sweet potato fries that fell flat for us so I'll pass on those next time. The customer service was great, and the staff are helpful. Hat Creek is quite spacious with indoor and outdoor seating, with the outdoor seating being covered. I did a pickup order to-go. I was seriously craving a burger, and this spot hit the mark perfectly! I ordered the vegetarian burger with house sauce (not a big fan of mustard), paired with sweet potato fries and a Coke Zero. The veggie patty was incredibly crispy and worked so well with the burger. Sweet potato fries are often soggy, but these were perfectly crispy and absolutely delicious, especially with the variety of sauces Hat Creek offers. Hat creek here in the domain is a gem. Great burgers and family oriented, Hat creek is the spot to bring your family if you have children. they have a playground onsite and reasonable prices for burgers ranging from $6-12. make it a combo for another $6. So the another burger spots you can compare it to is shake shack ( which is also in the same shopping area). Starting with price they are about the same which is why we are making this comparison. In terms of Burgers, HC has smashed patties and a toast bun. I like the HC sauce and the flavor of the burger. However, compared to SS, I prefer the potato bun and overall composition of the burger. HC is less greasy than SS but I've never eaten a burger because I'm trying to be healthy. Venue: HC all the way! I love that they have an outdoor playground, TVs and drinks for adults and kids. Great place to meet up with other families to watch the game and distract the kiddos. Overall, I like Hat Creek Burger Company in the domain. The location is accessible and close to the major shopping/restaurant area of the mall. They have a playground and the burgers are pretty good. If I was trying to just grab a burger and go I might choose another burger joint. (My favorite here in Austin is Buddy's Burgers) For the location, entertainment and value, Hat Creek is five stars. read more

I really enjoyed my experience. I'm a fan of their menu design. It was easy to view and aesthetically pleasing. I ordered the keto burger bowl which had two patties, cheese, bacon, avocado, on spinach and an order of tots. I appreciate the melted cheese and bacon was perfect. After reading reviews and perusing the menu online, I was very much looking forward to visiting Hat Creek. Unfortunately, it didn't go too well. I went to the location at The Domain and arrived before the lunch crowd showed up. It's a smallish location although there's a decent amount of covered outdoor seating. I ordered a cowboy burger as a lettuce wrap. It came out sloppy (see photo) with a pile of lettuce and not done very neatly. It made it hard to hold the burger and stingy toppings so I ended up removing most of the lettuce. The burger patty itself was pretty good quality, not very well seasoned but you could tell the meat was better than your typical ground round. Their signature Hat Creek sauce was also pretty tasty, reminding me somewhat of a thin Thousand Island dressing. However, I ordered bacon as an add-on and it was awful, chopped into small pieces that were tough as cartilage. They almost could not be chewed. Bacon should be placed in strips on a burger but I think that maybe it was chopped to hide the horrible texture. The server at the counter was pleasant enough but a little dingy-had to repeat my order a couple times and after it was rung up, I had to remind the staff that it was to be a lettuce wrap as it wasn't printed on the ticket. I left some comments on the survey link from the receipt but I haven't as yet heard anything back from management. I'll update the review if I do. There are a lot of great places for burgers in Austin so it's a pretty competitive market: JewBoy, Dan's, Buddha Burger (a recent discovery for me) or even Five Guys for that matter. That said, if this is typical of Hat Creek burgers, I'd prefer pretty much anyplace else. read more

Hat creek has really great outdoor seating. Lots of tables, benches, and slides for kids. I got the dirty worm shake, which tastes like cookies n cream with a few gummy worms on top. The gummy worms are hard to get with a straw-you can use a spoon. This was a pretty good shake. The fried pickles were too salty. Unfortunately, I could not finish and I am a big fan of pickles. I tried the classic, a double meat hamburger with American cheese, bacon, grilled onions and "hat sauce". I'm not entirely sure what's in the hat sauce, but it tasted like a combination of ketchup, mayo, and something peppery. It's a solid fast food burger. read more

This was our first time ever trying this place. I got the cowboy burger and the wife got the classic. Best burgers we've had in a long time. Sooooo goooddd!! Even the kids liked their burgers and grilled cheese. The place was nice and clean. It was raining out so the kids didn't get to play outside but it looked fun. The sweet potatoe fries were awesome and the regular fries were seasoned well also. The 3 different sauces they have are all good and have different tastes. I can honestly say I don't ever remember tasting anything like them. We will definitely be eating there again before we leave town. I wish they had some onion rings. read more

I removed my previous bad review because a manager reached out and compensated me for my bad experience. Well, after coming back I had an even worse experience with the same problem. Seems like they think they can just give someone money for a bad experience without actually addressing problems with their staff or false advertising. Long story short, they like charging extra for domestic draft beers and gaslighting people by saying they don't sell the domestic draft beers that they advertise and that are clearly being served. They sell the beer, they just don't honor the price they offer in big bold letters on the menu. According to the 16 year old serving beer: bud light, Michelob ultra, and Miller are not domestic beers and being "on tap" is different from draft. Nice. Never coming back, happy to take all the money you want to send me but it's still not worth the bad attitudes, gaslighting, and false advertising. read more

What a great place. Tables inside and lots of picnic tables outside in a covered area with a cute trailer and slide for the kids to play. We all had beef burgers with fries. Burgers were delicious and I can't stop raving about the fries...hand cut but slim and piping hot! I never think to put mustard on my burger but it came that way so I went with it and now I might have to continue on with that! It's not the best burger I've had, but many factors above most fast food places. Their chicken and milkshakes have been excellent when I've gotten them on the past. The main downside is it's one of the few places in the domain that has an area for kids (a positive if you have little ones). They are normally really cute. I watched one today dip his nose in some fry sauce and exclaim "I tasted it!"... made me smile. Other times the parents can let them get out of hand and you can't wait to get out of there. Good, simple burger place. I ordered the classic and it came with two delicious patties, lots of onions, cheese, bacon and hat sauce. The hat sauce is kind of a mayo, ketchup based mix? I honestly don't know but, it was good. They have fry sauce and a mustard sauce that dip well with the burger too. No veggies on this burger, so keep that in mind if you like that. They might be able to add it on, but I didn't think to ask. The fries were nice and crispy, no complaints there. The signature burger was good with its spicy sauerkraut and sauce with two patties of meat... DELECTABLE! My boys "little hat" burgers we on home made rolls instead of buns and they DEVOURED them. The place was cool... smaller then the round rock location but what would you expect when it's located in the Domain. It might be smaller but they still had a great play area! It is all fenced in and the ground is padded so it is safe and fun for the kids. The food was really good too. They have fun sauces by the drinks and napkins station.
