In Austin, with its 36,500 people moving into town a year, a convenient location is never convenient on account of parking. I would like to say that the corner of Bee Cave and 360, a long frequented shopping center, has landed itself a easy P. Terry's, but in good conscience, I still must consider the lunch rush inconvenient. That being said, this location offers a surprisingly good amount of parking, certainly more than the Barton Springs and Central location. In regards to the actual substance of the mini-empire that has taken root in Austin? Well, service continues to deliver, the burgers are, well, affordable and good. And the fries are pretty unbeatable for $1.65 a pop. Though it is pretty hard to mess up an order at P. Terry's, thus promoting cookie-cutter production, that is the same simplicity that the man-in-charge capitalizes on in order to continue feeding Austinites in such high demand. read more

P Terry's makes a decent burger for this price category. where they fail is the management of their drive through, especially during peak times. they close the second lane when there are 10 or 12 cars and a major intersection traffic jam-stupid move! you wait forever because they can't get the order out quickly, or else they get the order wrong. Terrible food, awful incompetent service. First of all the cashier's don't listen they mess up your order completely, then it takes a long time to get your food. I've had better. The concept is the same as the major burger place in CA, but I'm shocked at the lack of flavor. I threw a handful of fries in my mouth in the car because I hadn't eaten at all today, and that was a mistake. The fries are thin cut and taste like somebody fried pieces of cardboard. I also got a double cheeseburger and the only thing that had any taste was the cheese. They come extremely plain, I even added pickles and onions, still no flavor. I then covered it and ketchup making the only flavor coming from ketchup and cheese at this point. It's so incredibly bland! And the burgers themselves are super thin, cut the same way as any other fast food joint as far as I'm concerned. Save yourself the calories, it's not worth it at all. read more

How hard is it to make fresh french fries and a fresh veggie burger patty for my wife, damnit? Seriously. We have come here multiple times over the past year and the past 3-4 times we have had rock hard fries and my wife's veggie burger seemed old/pre-made or as if it had sat out for hours. we used to live in california, we had in and out and I knew it was sort of a big deal. then we moved to austin and found P Terry's, it was similar, but somehow better. and for years I've listened to the moaning of the sheep yearning for in/out... for why? P Terry's design team did a great job using what was there to their advantage. great use of space, bright, airy and cheerful... just feels good to be in a well designed space. but we came here to eat, so screw all that architecture crap and let's talk eats. I tried their new chicken burger (only available at this location at the moment), it's made from ground chicken. it had the flavor of chicken but the consistency of burger, was moist and delicious and worked well in the burger format, pickles, onion, tomato, lettuce on bun with special sauce. two of my kids ordered cheeseburgers and one had the vegi burger, also delicious. we had two orders of fries, both good and HUGE. in fact too big. the four of us had a hard time eating one whole portion, packed the other up to take home (I'll use them for hash browns or breakfast tacos) seriously people, if you eat that many fries with your meal at one time yourself.... you better start running a few miles a day or your gonna start adding inches to your waist. the four of us ate (one adult three kids) for less than $15 I'll also note that everybody on the staff there was very friendly. don't feel like getting out of your car? two lanes of drive through. and they were moving them through there quickly and efficiently. It's a locally owned chain restaurant with all the issues of an international one. CAFO beef, GMO everything, and a huge line in the drive thru that clogs even the traffic of people bypassing the establishment. I highly recommend supporting a different restaurant. read more

This used to be our go to burger place. Loved it. But the last three times from the drive through our order has been messed up. First time instead of one single and one double got (and was charged for) two doubles. When I told them at the window that was wrong they just kind of looked at me like "what do you want us to do"? Since there was a long line I just paid and took it but really thought at least they shouldn't have charged me for the double I didn't order and didn't want. Next visit my single cheeseburger with everything plus pickles and onions ended up a single burger, no cheese, with only pickles and onions. And last night I got home to discover they gave me tons of ketchup but forgot the fries. The first time I chalked up to being busy. But the last two errors have been when they didn't appear busy at all. Just not paying attention. May have to go back to Hat Creek. read more

After deciding I didn't want to wait 30 minutes in line at Hopdoddy Burger Bar (they don't do take out either), I decided to head closer to home so headed to P Terry's. On first impression I liked it and was looking forward to eating there. The drive thru menu was short and simple (reminiscent of In-n-Out Burger) so I assumed this to be a good sign. I was so wrong. The whole meal was just plain nasty. My veggie burger was COLD! And it tasted all mushy and gross. I couldn't even finish it. Then the fries. They were these wimpy, skinny, scrawny little things. I'm not sure what it is about this place that people like so much but the food is just awful. Now you might be thinking that I've only eaten here once or maybe on a bad day when they haven't emptied out their grease traps under the grills and such but no, it seems to be that way every single time I come here. They remind me of a place I used to go to all the time in San Antonio that my family loved to buy from. They were about the same size and cost, at the time, $1.25 for five burgers. Ya, don't get too excited about that price. Even if you think the price was great, think about the quality, and that is what I taste every single time I eat here. It's gotten so bad that whenever I get something here I make sure not to order the fries either. It's like burnt little pieces of thinly cut fries, so thin that they got burnt from the frier. I always feel like I'm getting the left overs of fries because there only seems to be a few good ones worth eating, so rather than waste money, I just don't order them anymore. I don't see how this place is any good. When you've been to places like Red Robin where they left you customize your burger anyway you want it, it comes out amazing, and of course HopDoddy's which is just awesome, I don't see how this place can be called great or even amazing. The meat just looks like meat I would buy from hill-country fair at HEB, it doesn't look fresh, it looks like it needs to rest and recuperate from whatever hell it's been through, and that's been with each burger I've ordered there. The burgers are so thin as well, it's like where is the meat? As for the atmosphere, it can get loud very quickly, especially when you have parents, or babysitters of rich people, bringing their children here, the sound levels can get very high. I was there once and this mom decided to bring like four kids in with her. Those kids were yelling and screaming, and I could see that she wasn't trying to get them to be quiet or calm down, probably one of those free-expression parents. The thing about this place though is that the acoustics in there amplify the sound so it gets loud very quickly. I could barely hear what the other people in my party were saying. Boy I wish there was a free-expression style for people to be able to tell those parents to do their jobs better. If your looking for burgers that are cheap with no real meat to them then this is your place to come to, but if your looking for quality food that is actually good for you and worth spending the money on, there are better places to go, heck, even HEB right next door has specially made burgers that are better than this place. So now whenever someone mentions this place as somewhere to eat, I get a stomach pain. read more

This place reminds me so much of the burger joints in California...The food is not bad, but it isn't great either. The fries are a bit on the soggy side. The portions are very generous. I was disappointed that they didn't offer a kids menu. When I asked for something kid friendly they just suggested I chose the small meal which was still too large for my 4,3,and 2 year old kids. At least knowledge of the food that particular restaurant serves anyway.. it blows me away that someone wouldn't know the difference between fresh (raw) and pickled jalapeños but it does happen apparently . I didn't care for the fries that much either almost like shoe string fries. I was served a lot but I would prefer thicker fries with more flavor than skinny fries that I have to eat a ton of. Don't bother showing up any time before 10:00 PM. They say they close at 10, but consistently shut down the drive through and lock the doors early. This has happened to me several times now. A few years ago, people were telling me P. Terry's was the best burger place around. Then Mighty Fine came up, and I heard great things about both, though many ppl were starting to tell me Mighty Fine was better. I'm going to elaborate on what these people said and why, in addition to talking about this specific location. What's nice about this location is that it has a huge seating area, as well as a drive through line. Add that to its location in Westlake Hills, you got an accessible restaurant that's not going to cause traffic problems like its other locations. What I found my double with cheese and fries most comparable to is In-And-Out Burger in California. The burger was pretty good, beefy, slice of american cheese, nice fresh vegetables, not that big in radius, and pretty cheap considering the quality. The special sauce I could do without, but I wanted to try it on my first go. The shoestring fries are very similar to In-and-Out, and unfortunately I wasn't a fan, but you're given a huge amount, for what it's worth. What I wanted to specifically note was that the price here is fast-food tier, for food that is a cut above. Mighty Fine I feel is a price bracket above, so while I like Mighty Fine more, I have to give P Terry's props for what they do. It's good, no matter how you cut it. Something my girlfriend and I wanted to note is that the special tea they have here is actually really good. It's more or less a special black tea with some added "spices" to it to modify the flavor. Comes with or without sugar, both are noteworthy. One thing you might want to be careful of is the overzealous cashier; this isn't really a negative, I think the cashier was actually doing an outstanding job by doing this, but they were offering add-ons to my burger very rapidly, and if you're not really thinking about it, that adds to your check. Not in significant amounts or anything, plus knowing burger customization is available is cool, but just note there is generally a charge associated, like 20 cents for jalapenos. I like this P. Terry's, and I would definitely go back for more, especially since I don't have to wait in a 10 car line in the midst of South Lamar during traffic time. read more

Great burger joint! If you want some of Austin's best burgers made fresh, this is the place to go! Family friendly atmosphere. They also serve fantastic chicken burgers as a "healthy" alternative. Be warned the drive through can get busy (note only 4 stars -- this can slow business down). I recommend parking on the HEB side and having a nice sit-down meal in their semi-modern decor. read more
