We went on a Thursday evening and were able to get seated right away. The food was good. You get complimentary chips and salsa as soon as you are seated. They bring individual bowls to pour the salsa in so you don't have to worry about double dipping. They offer really large portions as seen in the photos. My only complaint would be my frozen margarita seemed watered down. My brother ordered one on the rocks with a specific liquor and stated his was much better. Please note that this restaurant is located in a strip mall with lots of other restaurants surrounding it and a Walmart sharing the same parking lot so it was a little congested in the lot. read more

Pablo's has one of the most amusing on line presence of any Augusta area eatery so chef's kiss to their tech team. My older daughter swears by this place so younger daughter and sought them out on Valentines Day because they had $2.99 tacos and margs which were billed as "your first love". It's in a strip mall next to another restaurant and I can see where parking might get crowded but it was 2:50 so it wasn't an issue. It's not terribly big and the ambience is typical tex-mex. Our waitress came right away with chips and salsa and took our order. She may not have been brimming with friendliness but she was pleasant and efficient. We ended up not having the tacos but I got a on the rocks marg. It was quite strong and tasty. It was almost 3:00 but they still let us order from the lunch menu. DD order the shrimp burrito and I had steak fajita nachos. The food wasn't new and innovative but it was fresh and tasty. I ordered food to go, so this review is strictly based on that experience. I ordered the loaded tots (I forget the actual name printed on the menu) and my food was out to me in less than 15 minutes. A waitress did come out from the kitchen saying that they were out of tater tots (!!!) and asked if I wanted it over French fries instead. I told her yes, but only if the fries were crispy. And oh, they were DELICIOUS! Everything was delightful, even when I made it back to my destination. The chicken and steak were juicy and seasoned. The queso was flavorful and most importantly, it was HOT! I didn't make a fuss about missing the tater tots because it was an hour before closing time. Open door to find a lady waiting to be seated and she tells us she has been there for 5 minutes. Guy in the back is sitting at bar just looking at us. Then a big party comes in and basically the front of the restaurant is full of people waiting to be seated. Guy looks and thinks he should probably get up and seat people at this point. Seats us. Chips and salsa come pretty quick this time. Eventually the waitress comes and we order our food and drink together. Ordered from the lunch menu and we ordered a cheese dip because the salsa is very spicy in here these days. The cheese dip was $4.50 which is nearly as much as our lunch entree's and for that reason and the lack of service my review is 3 stars and that's because the food was actually quite good. I waited nearly a half hour for a burrito and a side of Spanish rice. they very obviously don't monitor when food is ready as my beef burrito was cold and rice was almost warm. I believe the only reason anyone at this restaurant even checked on then brought me the food I paid for (within 90 seconds) was because I stood up and crossed my arms hoping to be noticed... Pablo's is a good spot for delicious Mexican food. That have your usual tex-mex offerings. As well as a few authentic Mexican dishes. I had to try the birria quesadilla which was recommended by a friend. So I hopped on the Birria craze that's taking over and thoroughly enjoyed it. The meat was flavorful and tender. And the green salsa that was served with it was a perfect accompaniment. The consomé didn't have that deep flavor that I was expecting but it was still delicious and added even more richness to the cheesy quesadilla. I am hoping this dish remains on their menu. read more

Well, Pablo's has just joined the ever-growing list of restaurants that upcharge seemingly just for the he$$ of it. One in my party ordered a quesadilla with rice, and we were charged for a combo. The two ladies on the register thought it was quite humorous for her to be concerned over a "dollar". If it's worth up-charging to you, then it's worth saving to us. Oh, and the salsa is barely edible now. So hot. At first we thought it was a fluke, but yesterday made two visits. Excellent strategy for reducing the number of chips people eat or increasing the likelihood of people ordering cheese dip. So very "Pablo's". The good: The carnitas were great! That's the only thing I'm giving points for. The bad: 1. The service -the host, when she was seating us, just put our menus on the table and walked off. It was so impersonal I wasn't even sure if she was attending to us. 2. The service -Our waitress was pretty inattentive but sat at a table near the bar eating. I had to get another waitress for assistance... and then she just got up from eating and went to the kitchen. Dirty hands and all. Hopefully there was a sink between her hands and my food. 3. We ordered some guacamole to start with which was really good and both of us ended up getting the same lunch entree, the arroz con pollo which was delicious!! I mean it's rice topped with grilled chicken, veggies and queso, how can you go wrong with that? The lunch prices are more than reasonable (we paid under $20 for two entrees and guacamole before tip) and the portions are large, my plate was more than enough for me so I can't imagine the size of the dinner portion. Pretty decent Mexican food. Nothing that blew my socks off, but pretty quality as far as typical americanized Mexican food goes. I really like how spicy the pico de gallo was. Had a tamale de oxaqueña with pork, which was very spicy, but super tasty. I also got mixed fajitas, which were very good and with plenty of onions and peppers. Stopped at Pablo's for a dinner. The place was packed. Considering how busy they were, we were served in a reasonable amount of time. We were brought chips and salsa right away. The chips were really good, the salsa was the usual all tomato no heat stuff that seems the standard around here. I asked the waiter for something hotter and we were brought a much better salsa that I would recommend everyone get, and also a tomatillo salsa (green salsa) that was not as hot but very tasty. I ordered Carne Asada tacos and the meat was well seasoned and tender. Overall, this is one of the better Mexican restaurants around here if you ask for the good salsa. I give this place a 2. Although the service was great, the drinks are great our server Austin is amazing!! It took us 10 mins sitting at the bar to realize we weren't getting waited on. We had several servers walk past and look at us. Never even spoke a word. Or even ask if we've been helped. The manager (guy, tall short brown hair, clean cut beard) never even asked and stared at us numerous times. Asked the guy next to us if he was okay. A server literally took the guy next to us order and didn't even ask us if we needed anything? We were there first.. how rude. I've been in fb for a long time. I'm also a server/ bartender and I've never felt so neglected. I normally don't complain but someone needs to step up management wise. My husband and I are always on the search for Mexican food like we experienced in our hometown of Tucson, AZ. Many of the places out here in the CSRA are hits and misses at best. Especially with the square chimichunga (which I have no idea where after crossing TEXAS this is even remotely acceptable) Pablos is the best Mexican food I have had in our three years or being residents of the South. Man! I'm glad my husband took me in this place because everything was so wonderfully made. I ordered the Chimi Mixta which came with two Chimis (beef and chicken). The beans and rice are so flavorful and the service is great. The manager told me it was on the back of the menu and I was not aware at all that they started to charge me gratuity.
